A very unassuming looking place from the outside but once you get inside it's like home! The waitstaff was super attentive and explained various menu items to us. I had the Holiday Salad, very flavorful. My wife had a salad as well and was a happy camper. There was a lot more on the menu that we want to come back to try. Pub food is the focus here. Cheeseburgers, fish & chips, reubens etc-all w/great fries. Theres sit-down tables, a bar & live music on scheduled days everyone seems to really enjoy. Its a 40+ yo establishment so very "townie" which is cozy. Pro, skilled service..a focused order taker even over country music in bkgrd manages to get your order straight, hallelujah! Too many inept kids at many restaurants not properly giving your order to cook these days..make this a standout. I largely use takeout, theyre quick and food's hot. Its within a sm plaza next door to Pano's Pizza parlor, another nice Greek pizza place in Groton. Stay away from left side as 2 units seem to cater to adult porn-really wish the landlord of this tiny plaza (4) renters would move these 2 on left if Sneekers & Panos to a highway motel area. They offer live music. The place looks filthy. The 80's photos of patrons (?) under the lucite all over the bar...well, creepy. I have only been here twice to watch a particular band. The Angry Orchard with a shot cinnamon liquer was good. The potato skins were less than average. Meh. During the second visit, I had the incredible displeasure of ordering a Three Olives vodka...grape because that's the only flavor they had. I have dosed myself with cough meds that taste a lot less vile AND got me drunk! When the bartender noticed I wasn't drinking the putrid drink, she offered to make me another one. WICKED NICE! TY! My companion had bourbon with too much water. When I go back it'll be for the music and the courteous bartender. read more

We were visiting Mohegan and decided to venture into CT. So glad we did!!! The food and atmosphere at Sneekers is fantastic. Local pub feel where everyone knows each other and makes you feel part of the crowd. Service was excellent too. The food- you have to try the Brussels sprouts app and the wicked chicken pasta. Nice staff; bit of an old man bar vibe though...menu was fried stuff and burgers mostly. There was way too much mayo on my Turkey BLT wrap; I had to scoop a bunch out. Besides that tho there was a nice amount of Turkey, crispy bacon...and Good fried stuff; the fish and chips, chicken fingers and skinny onion rings were all tasty. Looks like it hasn't been updated or thoroughly cleaned since the 80s. Again, I think it looks "worse" than it is...we were just passing through and looking for a quick bite. Tourists so Working Women's Wednesday was a hit with us. NAPKIN server Kelsey was gr8 with stories of Grand Marnier bottles bordering the entire restaurant. The value at Sneekers is from getting off the beaten path of the corporate chain restaurants. Think of this as a bar/restaurant and it seemed to be a local hang out. Some might consider the bar/restaurant combination "dive-like." The Monday night special is a 16oz strip steak for $14 (normally $20) or a 10 sirloin for $10 (normally $14.) They were sold out of the 16oz but the 10oz didn't disappoint. It was cooked as ordered, hot and tasted great. The fish and chips was equally good $13. It was a ~8oz haddock filet with generous portion of fries and home made cole slaw. I hope to return to try other menu items. The walls had several advertisements for upcoming live music. I wished this place was better for drinks when there is NOT live music, but unfortunately it falls flat. Drinks are good, but service is severely lacking. Is this a 4-diamond establishment with standards of high service? No, it's a "dive bar"....I hate to use that term because it's not a dive bar. Although it may not be a dive bar, but it has the service attributes and the expectations of a venue like a dive bar!!! If you like live bands that are so loud in the venue that it's difficult to talk to your people you're there with AND wait an un-Godly amount of time for a drink....this is 100% your place! Music....good for those that like the genre. Me? No. If you want a drink that more than 2 ingredients, these are not the nights for you. However, there is NOT a live band most nights. I prefer "slower" nights at venues; however, with that comes a somewhat increase in service expectations. Is this my favorite establishment? NO! Will I return? Yes, but I know what it'll be like!!! This place is a one-and-out kind of place for me. Even when I put my card up , I still wait ~15 minutes for them to even check in and inquire. Let's reiterate about the drinks......5-star! read more

As I started my evening excited about trivia for couples night out we made dinner at home and wanted to come get a drink and a desert and play some trivia, upon arrival the bartender informed us they were out of desert as they have a busy weekend and then was very inattentive after we said we weren't gonna order dinner had to get the female bartenders attention to get served and she was awesome! But then we went to Dairy Queen to get an ice cream and came back and we're accused of sneaking booze into the bar and we're told that "they need to pay the trivia people so "are we at least ordering food" which the guys were drinking but not very much at the rate things were going, awful experience will be going somewhere else for trivia from now on! read more

I have to say... I am surprised at the other reviews -- and I know that sometimes the only time anyone will review an establishment is when there is a issue. Apparently that is the case with Sneekers' previous reviews. I found the atmosphere is to be exactly what Sneekers says it is -- a neighborhood bar with AMAZING food, and they aren't lying! This is definitely a fun atmosphere. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, intimate dinner-- this isn't your place. If you want a place to eat with fantastic food, fun staff, awesome music - this IS your place. Returning home to Connecticut for a visit I was delighted with the clam chowder-- perfectly seasoned and full of clams, and the fish and chips was the best I have eaten in a loooong time. I was very surprised by the low rating on this restaurant. We stumbled upon this place when visiting friends in the area and were extremely happy that we did. We hate to eat at chains when we travel somewhere new, so this was a great choice. We learned from another customer at the bar that they've been in business 30+ years and I can see why. I had the salmon dish with some (cusabi dressing?) off one of the special menus and it was awesome. I've been trying to find something like it back home. This is a local spot for sure and the locals know a good thing . Place was busy but still you were never given the feeling of being rushed. Menu has a little bit of everything. I highly recommend the whole belly clams and panko scallops. The clams where good size and sweet. The scallops were crispy on the outside and cooked to perfection. The service was Very good . We went to Sneekers at the behest of an (alleged) friend, only to be severely disappointed. It is with a heavy heart I have to give this place a one star review, but I have never had an experience that so deserved the demerit. Normally, when enjoying a pork chop, one would expect it to be cooked thoroughly as to avoid foodborne illness. Apparently such practice is a lost art that had been reinterpreted as burning another dish, and completely forgetting a third. Though I must admit, chicken tenders deserve caring attention in a bar kitchen, similar to the loving care a chef would give to a fine souffle. I can only imagine the wholesale frozen precooked chicken vendor sent the instructions over in Mandarin, or worse yet, Esperanto. Is this deserving of a one star review? No, of course not. Mistakes happen, we are all only human after all. And really, who speaks Esperanto in this area? Its been my experience that when food is lacking, and establishment usually tries to make up for this oversight with stellar customer service. Though to call the way we were treated "stellar" would be as egregious as calling Adolf Hitler a humanitarian. The apology for my terribly complicated Esperanto chicken tenders being fashionably late to our feast manifested itself as an offer for a free drink. I never received said drink, and when asked if I could have one taken off the bill, we were met with shrill, hyperbolic exasperation that we had already caused our server to "do cartwheels" for us. This was quite disappointing, as if she had managed to take a dish back to the kitchen while preforming gymnast tumbles, I had been too preoccupied to notice. I'd imagine it would be akin to beholding one of the seven world wonders. Cirque du Soleil, at least. I need to stop sitting in corners. I'm sure other people have had a fine experience at this local watering hole, but unfortunately I will not be returning. I would rather visit the subtly labeled adult bookstore down the shopping plaza, buy a 3 pack of edible underwear and eat it in a viewing room. read more

Average food, terrible service, trashy atmosphere. The waitstaff here is the WORST- well at least our waitress was by far the worst I have ever encountered. Not only did she break a glass and spill wine all over our table/me, she did not apologize to us nor did she clear all the glasses on the table after wards (broken glass shards can go anywhere!) Another waitress came over to help wipe up the table and actually said to us "It could have been worse" What?! How about "I'm so sorry about that"? We tried to forget about it and enjoy the rest of our meal, then when the bill game (with no detail) we asked our lovely, helpful waitress if the drinks that were spilt/broke were on it, since she never addressed anything after the breaking/spillage happened. She then proceeded to belittle us, saying never in her years as a waitress had she had a table ask for detail on the bill. I responded by saying never in my years as a dining patron had I had a waitress break a glass and spill wine on me and not even say "sorry" or offer to buy a round to compensate. She then asked if I had ever waitressed because I certainly would not understand how hard it is. She then barked at us and asked if we had ever been to Sneekers before (the answer is yes- we own a slip at the yacht club down the road...but never again will we return!) Then, as if this wasn't bad enough, she tried to imply we were just looking for free stuff because we never brought any of this up "until the bill came." Finally after she was done yelling at us she turned away in disgust and sent another waitress over to apologize. Stay away from this place!! Unless you like eating subpar bar food in a dingy atmosphere while getting yelled at and spilled on. Then by all means, Sneekers is your place read more

Met a vendor for lunch here and was pleasantly surprised. The menu is pretty extensive with a lot of burgers and sandwiches. Their wicked chicken and Phoenix chicken sandwich are quite good.
