If you're in a hurry, this is not the place for you. There's always a waiting line every time I go here, about 30-40 minutes. It's a nice, relaxing place but it gets too noisy sometimes. The servers are very nice and accommodating. The food is really good. I've never had regrets about anything I've ordered here. I went in during lunch on a weekday - lots of seating and friendly staff. The interior is very colorful with differently colored chairs and tables, alongside painted walls. It was nice to be able to mix-and-match eggs Benedict styles to try various flavors. I had the crab cake and smoked salmon combination, and they were both good. Their biscuits are not the same and they used to have jam made in house and those days are over. It feels like they're skimping now and the quality of the food has gone way down. The food itself was the blah part. We ordered a special stuffed French toast and breakfast burrito. The filling n the French today made the bread soggy and unappealing, but the flavor was good. The Snow city mocha was such a great flavorful, coffee, and a beautiful design on top that had me feeling like I was ready to tackle the day! I had the eggs, Benedict and the eggs were cooked perfectly on top of warm English muffins and the hollandaise sauce was drizzled on with the right proportions! Was very lucky to walk in on a weekday and sit down immediately, but I heard on the weekends there's an hour to two hour long wait so make sure you plan accordingly ! This is the breakfast place to eat at if you're doing the cruise tour. Walking distance from most hotels and nice variety of breakfast items. The brewed coffee is hot and flavorful. Our waiter kept our cups full and had a cheery and welcoming personality. They have a hot sauce bar to enhance the already great tasting food. The place has a colorful and upbeat feel. The service is a little on the slow side. But the sausage gravy makes up for it all. It is the best damn sausage gravy I have had in years. I got it on the side with my breakfast to go with a biscuit next time I'll just order the biscuits and gravy now. The one word I would use to describe the place is "slow". They are slow to clear empty tables, slow to seat people, slow getting to your table to take your order and slow on getting the food out. So if you have lots of time, you'll be fine. read more

Thought it would be fitting to have birthday brekke at Snow City Cafe since it happened to be snowing the morning of my birthday while in Anchorage. We arrived around 8a and were seated immediately. I ordered a dirty chai tea but felt it was way too sweet for my liking, so I gave it to my friend. I had the regular eggs Benedict for brekke, which was good. I ordered a mini pecan roll and cinnamon roll to have a couple bites of, both were good. All in all this is a fine place to grab breakfast. I wouldn't say I was wildly impressed by any aspect of it. I did think that hot sauce bar was really cute, I recently made a similar bar of sorts at home for when my mom visits since she loves hot sauce on her eggs. The bathroom signage also made my lol. I was really excited to try this place but was disappointed. The cafe was cute and colorful and coffee was great but the food was mediocre. The cinnamon roll was tasty but was pretty dry. My friend ordered a hot chai and it came out room temp which was sad because it was -14 outside and he wanted to warm up. I ordered the half/half eggs Benedict with crab cake and roasted veggies. One of the eggs was over cooked. The veggie one was good but it was more of a roasted garlic Benedict than any other vegetable. I got 4 garlic cloves and 1 mushroom. The crab cake was so dry, I couldn't even eat it :( Also the hollandaise sauce was very thick and had no flavor. My friend ordered eggs and sausage and his sausage was also very dry. I wanted to try all the hot sauces they offered and picked up the hot honey sriracha - but the honey was crystallized and the bottle was gross. It should probably be thrown away. Hopefully it was an off day because it was quite busy. I would come back for coffee for sure. read more

Tired of the hotel breakfast that was complementary, my husband and I decided to give Snow City Café a try while in Anchorage on our honeymoon. We had heard this place was quite popular and planned on making a reservation, however, they were only booking reservations for two hours out from the present time. We decided to try our luck as walk-ins. Luckily, we came early enough that we were seated right away. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. We each started with a hot coffee beverage. I tried their mocha with oat milk and it was rich and creamy. For my meal, I ordered an Alaskan version of eggs Benedict served with crabcakes instead of the traditional ham. The hollandaise sauce was thick and creamy. The egg was cooked to perfection with the yolk running over the crispy crabcakes. It was quite the filling and satisfying meal. My husband ordered a different version of eggs Benedict and thoroughly enjoyed his as well. Since we both wanted to try their pancakes as a point of comparison, we shared a stack of buttermilk pancakes. The pancakes were average but satisfied my morning sweet tooth. Alaska, a snowy State? The lower 48 states have an image of Alaska as the iconic cold and snow-covered wilderness. So having a hot breakfast at Anchorage's Snow City Café seemed like a great Venturing out of the warm hotel lobby into an ongoing snow fall was a sharp contrast to the upscale look of Snow City Café's glass street corner exterior. As you enter, the interior design presents a colorful and friendly décor. A large warm waiting area serves the grab-n-go coffee counter, kitchen counter seating and the large dining room. Vintage candle chandelier over the expresso/coffee counter is a visual upgrade from the typical coffee shop. Stocked with baked pastries and serving Kaladi Brothers expresso and hot drinks. And a selection of blends for the hot morning tea aficionados. Makes ordering and picking up a sludge cup of Kaladi Brothers espresso or Kobuk Samovar tea, fast and hassle free. Before I comment on the eats, I have never been overwhelmed with any eggs benedict I have ordered. Which has led to an avoidance of that menu item. But Snow City café has changed my opinion. Reading that their eggs benedict was made with Alaskan red king crab cakes caught my eye. Maybe it was the green plates (matches mine at home) or the friendly staff and locals that broke the ice barrier in ordering eggs benedict this cold snowy morning. The culinary chief got both eggs just right. Both poached eggs had the high round yoke pouch that comes from using fresh eggs. The waitstaff grabbed the entrée right as it was placed on the serving line. So, it was served hot and ready to eat. And I couldn't wait to take a bite as the eggs bright yellow yoke flowed ever so smoothly over the crab cakes. The first bite was a taste delight. The crab cake was fried just enough to be tasty and seasoned without hiding its seafood origins. The English muffin did not have the taste or texture of a product from a local supermarkets national brand. I assume it was probably baked locally. Snow City Café's 'Kodiak' eggs benedict was a definite menu changer for me. And the hash browns aroma and taste weren't obscured from any previous entrée's presence on that cooking surface. The trait of a kitchen whose culinary team prioritizes keeping its cooking surfaces clean and separated. Snow City Café's appearance is contemporary and casual, from the graphics and selection of the interior colors to the wording on the menu. They may present as casually done but the way every detail is so well thought out, coordinated and executed shows an establishment that has experience in crafting a dining ambiance and menu that would be a winner in any city. There is an online waiting list. However, being a newcomer, I venture to say it did not appear necessary for this early week day breakfast time, however this café is so good, I can image that weekend reservations for brunch times maybe necessary to avoid a long wait for a table. I am confident that every visitor to Snow City Café will have the same pleasurable dining experience I had. No amount of snow fall can chill out one of Anchorage's flagship breakfast restaurants. read more
