Snow White Coffee is truly a great local coffee shop started by a family that has been in the neighborhood forever! The espresso is killer, and the pastries are irresistible. It's a great grab and go place, where there are always a couple of people laughing and chatting with the barista/owner if you want to get into the "everybody knows your name" vibe. While visiting Kaiser, I went there because of Yelp reviews. Was not disappointed. Alex (owner) was a delight to chat with and made me a super-wonderful cappuccino. Like probably the best one I've had in this country. (We discussed the wondrous coffee drinks available in Australia, which is where I've enjoyed my favorite cappuccinos.) The old laundry sign out front is a little concerning... like will folks know this is a coffee shop? However I would highly encourage folks to give this place a try. It's on the slow-end of Piedmont, so it seems like it would be easy to do a quick park out front and run in and grab a cup on your way to work. I subscribe to their Instagram feed, which shows the two tip cups, each sporting a different yin/yang option (ie: A Few Good Men? on one and Top Gun? on the other). These are amusing/charming and hopefully effective for tip-voting. Really want this place to succeed -- so check it out some time!!! :) read more

I had some extra time between doctor appointments and decided to try this place out. I got a pour over, and the flavor was excellent - I didn't even have to add cream or sugar. I could tell that each cup was made with intention and care. -1 star for the lack of seating/viable workspace. read more

4 stars for the service - im assuming it's the owner servicing the coffee bar but he's real affable- they have a cute sign that says "come in we're awesome." So this is my favorite coffee place. I actually moved away from the area but go back whenever I can. Was really laughing reading all these reviews. I've been there enough times to know that the owner is a really nice guy. I often go in with my extremely goofy son, and he goes out of his way to talk to him and be kind. When I go in alone, sometime he's chatty sometimes he's pretty gruff. But ultimately... I'm just trying to get a good latte, some of y'all seem to want your coffee made while someone holds eye contact and smiles. We all have good and bad days....! Coffee is good! read more

Love this place! It's a one-man show, with the owner being the cashier and barista as well. He's super friendly and helpful, which was great on a Saturday morning. That being said, if you are the type who wants to run in and out with your coffee, this may not be the right place. There's also nowhere to sit, only a high-top bar (no seats). The owner of this place is so rude ... unless somehow you know him and then he turns on the charm -- I saw this my first time there, saw hints of it today. I went here over a year ago and ordered a chai. I actually really liked my drink but his attitude was so off-putting I haven't returned until today. I'm in the neighborhood and desperate for caffeine so I said "duck it" this is the last time he will get my money. Anyway, walked in, same experience as last time. Completely rude barking out his response to everyone in the place. I worked in the food service industry for decades, I know how much it can suck, but dude ... this is your business you should be grateful your customers pay your bills and support you. You don't have to kiss ass, but you could be respectful. When I left, I spoke to the woman who was in line ahead of me to reassure her that apparently being rude is this dude's m.o.. The coffee is top notch (best on Piedmont for sure), the vibe is simple and comfortable, and the guy who runs the joint (it's a tiny place) is happy polite and chill. This isn't a Con for me, but if you're looking for a place to plop down and read/work/socialize, the seating is very limited due to size so you might want to head somewhere else. Hands down the BEST chai latte I have EVER had, and by some considerable margin (there's a cafe called Freebird in Tahoe that's a solid second, but I'm not really counting that as it's out of area). Anyway, I digress. Alex, the owner and Barista is a super personable, outgoing guy, so don't be intimidated (as I initially was, I'll admit) when you walk in and he shouts a greeting and asks your order at full volume. He's gonna take care of ya', and the locals and regulars are obviously used to the custom, as I am now that I've been "initiated", heh. Anyway, back to the chai latte. Alex reaches into a glass mason jar and scoops a couple big spoonfuls of crazy lookin tea and spices and herbs and whatever other magic juju is in there into a cup, asks me what kinda "milk" I want in it (since I was celebrating the warriors spankage of the Cavs, I splurged and went for frothed half and half....so rich and delicious) and served me up. Normally I take sugar in my tea and coffee, but honestly it wasn't even necessary with the richness of the cream and the killer flavor of the legit chai. I also got some French croissant-like chocolate pastry thing (I forget the fancy name) that was insanely rich and delicious as well. Walked down the street on a beautiful summer Saturday morning and "got my zen" on a park bench drinkin my chai and chompin on my baked goodie. Great way to start the day, and the weekend, and I'm pretty confident I just found my new regular coffee spot. I know there's a ton of Café options in this 'hood (including Timeless, which is also good), but for the love of God, please support local businesses like this one, instead of the chain coffee spots (I'm lookin at you, Starbucks and Blue Bottle) in the area. You just might have the "cuppa" of your life, like I just did. (Should also mention that the locals are cool and outgoing like Alex. The owner is smart, fun and *full of great stories.* They use all organic everything here (yay! ) so no need go to Blue Bottle down the street (they were bought out by Nestle a year ago anyway :( --barf--so you should really just avoid them unless you like supporting child slavery; I digress). I'm surprised by the one off review here mentioning the bad attitude of the barista since the times I've visited he really goes out of his way to be beyond pleasant to *everyone,* which is different than at a lot of coffee shops. It's not cheap--but seriously, what coffee in the Bay Area is? (especially when you're at a place using high quality ingredients and products...if you want crappy cheap coffee just go to Starbucks or 7/11 or something ;) ). 5 stars??? Did I go to the same coffee place?! It said Snow White. It was so bad that all three of us could not finish it. I was lured here by the reviews. One said "better than Blue Bottle", so I had to give it a whirl. It does not even come close. The coffee is watered down, bitter, acidic, and tasted of chemicals. I wouldn't expect that from watered down coffee. To top it off- 4 bucks for drip and 4.50 for Oakland Chill, as high or higher than Blue Bottle. Noway would I recommend Snow White Coffee. read more

I was introduced to Snow White Coffee and Alex about 2 years ago by some coworkers at Kaiser. I now come here for coffee instead of the Starbucks inside the hospital. Alex always greets people walking in to the shop and engages in quick conversations while making your coffee. The coffee is very tasty and is always fresh. One of the best cold brews that I've ever had in the bay area, which is really saying something! I also ordered a kouignanann, and even though I'm not always a pastry person, this was really delicious. The owner was really friendly, and we had a nice conversation while he got my order together.
