On my first visit here, ordered a keto coffee that came out to be $6.75 with tip. It was pretty good. I liked the fact that they had option for it. Second visit, I was on my way to Blue Bottle with a friend visiting from out of town. I suggested this cafe so she could get a chai tea latte. When I told my friend that I'm wasn't getting anything here, the owner started making remarks about there only being a few local cafes worth checking out on Piedmont Avenue. When I told him I was getting a NOLA from Blue Bottle, he began to lecture me about it being owned by a giant corporation... blah, blah, yes I know. Genuinely good coffee made by a gentleman who knows the meaning of that. The owner is direct and honest, I appreciate that, too many businesses have phoney employees. Good coffee! Gone here several times and I just never understood why the owner can't be nice to customers that aren't his friends or neighbors! I saw him accidentally cut himself with one of his pour over glass and ran into his tiny office/storage room ( btw he slammed his door) screaming and bleeding while sucking on his finger that he badly hurt. Didn't say nothing to us but continued to complain about the accident he had. Another time he didn't give me not even 5 seconds to think of what to get and he quickly asked me what am I getting and I was like wait give me a minute and seemed pretty mad about it. This place is small and unassuming, but serves up the best coffee I've had in the Bay Area so far (yes, even better than Blue Bottle). When I go to Peet's or Starbucks I usually ask for an extra shot in my latte, but the coffee you get at Snow White is strong enough to make that unnecessary. Happily, this strength is unaccompanied by the overly bitter or too-roasted flavor that some places achieve in trying to make their coffee stronger. What you get here is only rich, flavorful steamed milk and coffee - unadorned as the place that serves it, and all the better for it. There is rarely a line at all, no music blaring, and no impulse-purchase fodder at the counter. This is a neighborhood gem of the best kind, and well worth stopping by. read more

I seriously craving a chai latte and this was the closest spot to get one. I walked in and the person at the register was having a full on conversation with what looked like a friend. We were barely greeted when we entered the small cafe. I asked for a chai and instead of asking me about any preferences, she continued to talk to her friend, which is found to be very rude. The chai was only okay, but the service wasn't good at all. So what if it's a slow day, engage your customers.. unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

Snow White Coffee is the stuff neighborhood gems are made of. Great product, well curated ambiance, good location, and friendly owners. The coffee here is top notch and the small selection of food is also very tasty. The shop itself is right off Piedmont Avenue and very convenient for grabbing a coffee and taking a stroll past the shops along the street. My husband and I walk here often on weekends. I love the bright, airy feeling of the small shop and the standing-height table with a very nice selection of magazines and articles, all chosen thoughtfully by the owner. They seem to focus on coffee, bicycling, design, and regional topics. I believe they are also adding a bit of outdoor seating. Their coffee cups have a cool logo stamp as well, for those that care about design. Open for just about a year I believe, it's clear the locals love Snow White and the owner Alex loves them back. It seems like he knows a lot of the folks who stop in, and we have really enjoyed getting to know him and his wife and young daughter, who frequently hang out in the shop, too. The hours are a wee bit unpredictable/unexpected, so just check before you stop by. read more

Walked in and was greeted by Alex, who happened to be the Owner. Excellent customer service! Gets beans from Roast Co. coffee in Oakland and he had very clear reasons as to why he favors this company over others in the area. After a great conversation and ordering a pour over I know why! He greeted each customer warmly, many he knew by name. I sat in the outside seating area and enjoyed the times as others were studying and/or working. A great local coffee bar in Oakland, love it! I appreciate the fact that they kept Snow White in the name as my understanding is the previous tenant aka Dry Cleaners was there for over 35 years. a nice ode to the past which is hard to find these days. what else is hard to find is a nice small business mom and pop coffee shop amongst all the Peets, Starbucks, and recently Philz. so if you are a supporter of small businesses, you must stop at Snow White Coffee. While the menu is simple, its what coffee should be and not all the syrups and fancy lingo. they has a nice variety of baked goods but they go fast. I got a classic pour over and it was flavorful, strong, and on point. Best coffee in the East Bay. And the pastries, cookies, scones, etc. are to die for. The space is rad too--once a dry cleaners called "Snow White" (hence the name). Go early on Saturdays as they close at noon. Alex makes a mean mocha (and hot chocolate for my son). read more

I just stopped in today to get a cold brew - turns out there are a few options: nitro or "flat" for $4.50, or Vietnamese iced coffee-ish, for $4, which is what I got and it was delicious. A bit pricey for the quantity (12 oz?) but still a nice treat. Next time I'll try the nitro. Beans are apparently Roast Co. Pastries are from Starter, because this is an independent coffee shop in the East Bay. No shade to Starter -- their stuff is delicious, but they're so ubiquitous! I FOUND A NEW COFFEE HOUSE!!! We are shutdown here in California and my manual coffee grinder met with an accident!!! I'm also a COFFEE LOVER and finding "good" coffee isn't always easy. Someone recently told me it was good coffee, but today I found out it was true!!! This is a small shop that doesn't have space to socialize and sit down, and right now has limited hours during the shutdown, but I'm so glad that they were here! But more than that, the person who runs this shop, really CARED. He cared about each person who came in AND about the coffee. How do I know? It was the way he interacted with each person, the quality of his coffee - really good (I've learned to look for certain things such as the type of equipment used or not used, the brews/brew methods, etc.), AND how helpful he was when I asked him about my manual coffee grinder as I was curious if he had any ideas. He not only had ideas - and knew several resources - he kept bouncing ideas off even after we had moved away from my inquiry. Granted it is a coffee place and I wanted iced tea. But. They serve hot tea and iced coffee. So. How about here's tea and a cup of ice instead of "no?" Having worked in a restaurant I get that the Denver omelette with artichokes instead of peppers and tofu instead of ham with extra onions and guacamole on top made with egg whites and no salt is a PITA (pain in the ass). What a hidden gem. It's quite minimalistic but maybe that's what makes it so great. The coffee does all the talking!
