I had an unusual incident happen yesterday. While I was going through the car wash I saw my set of keys slide down the windshield and hit the front right side of my car and fall down to the ground in the soap in the water. My immediate instinct was to get out but of course I couldn't as there were cars in front of me and behind me in the car wash. As soon as I got through the tunnel I ran to the office and asked someone to please stop the car wash just temporarily so I could go quickly get my keys; I knew right where they fell. This guy was nice and he did look a couple times in the tunnel, but came up with platitudes. He said he could not stop at the car wash as they would lose business. I told him it would be very quick I knew right where they were... To my dismay he said they would "try" to find them and would call me tomorrow. I asked him to check in with his manager as this was unacceptable, and after talking to the manager said it would be like a needle in a haystack. Ugh I was prepared to show up at the end of the shift at 9o'clock to look in the tunnel and the pit, but just then another worker, Ernesto asked me what I needed ~ I looked through the window in desperation and pointed and he said he would go look again. I walked with him to the end of the tunnel sent up a prayer.... I really need these keys. Praise God! He came out of the tunnel holding them! Thank you for so much for going above and beyond., Ernesto! I gave four stars to Soapy Joe because I really like the business in general. I am frustrated though that they couldn't have stopped in the line of cars for a minute or two briefly while I picked up keys that were right there on the ground. Five stars for this employee for going above and beyond!!! read more

Today the tires were sprayed, unlike my first review. There were still insects on the front bumper and hood that needed cleaning. Didn't have the time to get a second cleaning. Overall I would say it's still a pretty decent wash, good value, and I like the vacuums and cleaning towels. read more

The manager Brian is pretty much an idiot. I came to the location about a week ago to activate an offer that I paid for online. He had me park, go inside so that he could search for an account pretty much and give me my barcode. He gave me a barcode, I came back this week to go through the car wash and my barcode did the work. I sat at the stall for 10 minutes so they could figure it out. Turns out he didn't link it correctly and because they still have to give the system time to update of course it still wouldn't scan, so he just opened the gate which he should have done in the first place because it was his fault. How are you a manager and you cant get the job done? Worst soapy joes!! Update: returned a second time to experience the same issue, smh. read more

Waste of money, my first time here ever this morning and based on the reviews I was glad to find a highly rated car wash on my way to work. Afterwards I was hoping to give my car a quick vacuum but since all the stalls were occupied, I couldn't check out the outcome, so I preceded on my way to work, well when I got there, I checked how the wash went, I'm very dissatisfied and disappointed. My car is still filthy in certain areas. Under my side rear views, bug guts still on the front. But most of all and the WORST it seems like the wash didn't touch even a bit of the back of my vehicle at all! There's dirt everywhere still! I noticed halfway on the drive there was still a outline of dirt in the window from the wiper! Why and how!? I wish there was a Washman in this area. For the same price, at least it was thorough. read more

I'm not one for a pro/ con list on yelp very often, but here we go with one anyways... Pro: I have a car that is constantly getting dirty. At work there's a dirt parking lot. I pack my furry dogs into my backseat often. I frequent the beach and bring home enough sand to build another beach. Can you picture my car now? Can you see just how thrashed it gets? I end up going to get my car washed literally multiple times a week. It is my little mobile sanctuary and I NEED it cleaned often. The fact that this place lets me pay a monthly fee and I can come as often as I like is what I love most. I can focus on the areas I particularly want to have vacuumed and wiped down more thoroughly. Who else is going to take care of my car as well as I am? I love that thing. Bottom line- it's a great deal. Cons: the suction on the vacuums suck. And not well. It's packed all the time which means I can't get in and out of there as quick as I'd like to. I hate waiting. The clean microfiber towels aren't always completely dry like I need them to be before I use them. read more

My first time coming to Soapy Joes and I was very impressed. Maurice was very helpful and informative and you can tell he has a lot of pride in his work. Buuuuut now it's so packed it takes 30 min just to go through the car wash. Forget about trying to vacuum. If you're lucky enough to squeeze in then you are probably stuck there for another 30 min because you can't back out due to the line of cars behind you trying to enter the car wash. read more

This review is for the San Marcos location. I signed up for their "fast pass" membership thinking it would let me drive through quickly during my lunch break once a week or so. I quickly learned that there was nothing "fast" about their fast pass and it is complete garbage. I've gone there several times in the last couple of months and I think I've managed to make it inside the wash without any issues once. The other times I've wasted several lunch breaks sitting there trying to get in. The gate never opens and I have to sit there honking my horn for 10 minutes before an attendant decides to come out and see what the problem is. Meanwhile everyone else that got there after me drives through the other gate without any problems. And when I try the other gate it still doesn't work for me. One time an attendant finally came out and opened the gate for me. The rest of the times I sat there for so long not able to get in, reversing, pulling forward again, reversing, pulling forward, honking to try to get an attendant's attention, that eventually I had to just turn around and go back to work because I was out of time. The few times an attendant bothered to come out to see if they could help they had a bad attitude, took a picture of my barcode and said they would fix it on their end. Well, they never fixed it and today was the last straw. It didn't let me in again, the attendant was nowhere to be found (they actually walked away as I pulled up to the gate and didn't come back), and I had to go back to work without being able to get my car washed. A couple of times I've seen the attendant watching me and seeing that something was wrong but they couldn't be bothered to come over and see what the problem was. Some even made eye contact with me and just sat there by the main building watching while I tried reversing and pulling forward several times. As for the quality of the actual wash the few times I did make it through, for some reason the back end of the car never got cleaned so I would always have to grab a towel and clean the back myself. The vacuums also have very little suction, if one is even available. They are always taken and you have to wait in line until one opens up. Some of us don't have time for that, especially after wasting 10 or 15 minutes trying to get into the actual wash. At least the damp clean towels are good for cleaning the dashboard and plastic trim inside the car. Anyway, good riddance. I canceled my membership as soon as I got back from yet another wasted attempt in which I had to turn around and go back to work after sitting there for 10 minutes stuck at the gate with no attendants anywhere in sight. Well, one finally did show up after I had already backed out of the entrance and was driving away. Too little, too late. read more

I first came in and was greeted immediately with kindness. The man who was helping me work their services explained each one very well. My car was very dusty and dirty basically grim all around. Ismeal got me with the hook up and was able to help me choose the best service. He was very informative about which wash I would need to get my car clean. Went to get my car washed, my third time coming to this location. Me coming my third time, made me have to write a good review. And I don't write reviews often. Biggest thing is the amazing customer service. First I was greeted by Ray who to be honest made my day so much better by cracking jokes and being super positive. Then shared with me the membership which I 100% recommend. Then Melvin and Sheela took care of me from there and went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with my clean and gave me one of those free car smell things. Overall 100/10 experience, would recommend this to anyone who just is looking to meet quality people, get a quick wash, with quality service. read more

First run through did not clean the back of the SUV so they ran it through again still had dirt so they gave me top-of-the-line wash. Did well and they to had damp microfiber towels to finish it off. Good job. read more

I sent Soapy Joe's an email message last month, requesting that they cancel my membership and cease from collecting any more payments, including a payment that would have otherwise been due on March 27th. Before making that request, I tried to cancel my membership using Soapy Joe's website, but the only way to cancel a membership is via email or via telephone. I also tried to cancel my membership by calling the phone number posted on their website during business hours, but the call was transferred to a voice message stating that they were closed. Instead of cancelling my account, I received an email message with boiler plate language about their reduced hours and lack of services due to COVID-19. In addition, Soapy Joe's took a monthly payment after I requested that my membership be cancelled. I requested that my membership be cancelled because during the first couple of weeks of March, I drove to Soapy Joe's locations in the San Diego area and found that they were closed because, according to the managers, the car washes were not working properly. Those claims were a sham. It was obvious that Soapy Joe's was closing locations early last month because they didn't yet have a plan to deal with COVID-19. In addition, Soapy Joe's has drasticallly reduced its hours but they still advertise online that they're open from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm. I get it - business is slow because people aren't driving as much, especially ride share drivers, but that's no excuse for defrauding customers and falsely advertising that they are open when they're not. read more
