Socal Fries. Presentation looks good but the taste and quality says otherwise.

I was deciding on lunch with the fam and my aunt recommended SoCal Wings. After browsing their menu, I was sold and placed a phone order. Our order consisted of four SoCal fries (which are basically buffalo fries from The Buffalo Spot with a drizzle of cheese and ranch), a 10-piece nugget, a small fry, a large order of mozzarella sticks, a Thai tea, and a few sides of sauces. To speak bluntly, the experience turned sour for me as soon as I started placing my phone order. While I was ordering sauces, I was rudely cut off by the man working: "Yeah, yeah, anything else?" I felt like I was being rushed off the phone, even after mentioning it was my first time ordering and kindly asking questions about their sauces. The customer service here just overall gave me the ick. Anyways, onto the food. I was super excited for my SoCal fries. They have a variety of sauces to choose from, and I opted for the spicy BBQ. On first impression I was surprised with the generous portions. I ordered a small Socal fries that looked more like a medium. As soon as I dug into my meal, I was met with immediate disappointment; the popcorn chicken on my SoCal fries was extremely stale. It tasted as if they served us three-day-old fried chicken that had been left sitting out. My siblings and mom also agreed the chicken was super hard. I ended up just eating some of the fries and threw the rest away. Before tossing it, I tried drenching the fries in their Cajun sauce (which is over $1 per sauce, btw), and even though I really wanted to like it, it had a weird aftertaste. On top of that, I just couldn't get past how hard the chicken was. The Thai tea, fries, and mozzarella sticks were just decent. I'd also like to mention that when I was placing my order over the phone, the man said my total was $67 and some change. When I paid in person, the total somehow jumped to $83.69. I assumed that included the Cajun sauces I ordered over the phone, but it actually didn't. I ended up paying a second transaction for the sauces, which was around $8. Had I possibly been charged for the side of attitude I was also served? To reiterate: the service here sucks. Overall, I won't be back as the quality doesn't match prices. You'd think that a joint that specializes in fried chicken and wings would serve fresh chicken but on the contrary, my chicken was inedible, gross, and clearly old. I love supporting local businesses, but I refuse to support a place that exhibits rude customer service and serves subpar frozen food that I could throw together at home. I don't recommend this spot as there are much better establishments in the area.

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? If I could give this restaurant a zero star rating, I would definitely do so. I was missing a fish fillet, my shrimp was cold, my chicken was burnt but still ice cold, and my fries were so burnt that they were almost black and orange. To top it all off, the restaurant had the audacity to place a balled-up napkin at the bottom of my fries, as if it were supposed to make them look full. This experience was absolutely appalling and I highly do not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances.

Horrible!! Horrible!! Super Bowl, Sunday, Wings. My order was honey garlic Sriracha wings. They were naked!! Skimpy, skimpy sauce. Where's the sauce!! I have been a customer for the last four years and authored one of the first complementary reviews. Tremendously disappointed. More than half of my wings had almost no flavor. This was the only place I would get Wings. Did you change cooks??? Are you the new owner?? I now need to reconsider.

This place should be called skimpcal wings. They were graceful when they first opened but over the years they just been getting worse and worse. I ordered a mango madness socal fries no cheese and they drowned my order in ranch instead of the sauce for the chicken. Not only that they only gave me 5 little pieces of chicken with my fries. Tf am I paying 10$ for only fries. They need to stop giving out skimpy orders this is the 3rd it's happened.

The food is delicious and fresh and my number one recommendation is their zucchini fries with ranch dressing and a side of their spicy sauce. The fish, shrimp and ZUCCHINI FRIES ARE THE BEST IN LONG BEACH!!!

My niece said this place was better than wing stop so I had to try it yesterday. I ordered the buffalo and lemon pepper wings with fries. Everything was so good. The fries were seasoned so well. The music in the establishment was fire. The service was good and quick. They made sure to ask if you wanted dipping sauce. They even gave us a coupon. I will be back.

So cal wings. Hmmm. She wasn't my fav but it wasn't the worst. This is more quantity over quality type place. Its located next to a high school which shows the palate that they cater too. Which is totally ok. But if you've had the likes of Bonchon, wing stop, or even Bdubs you might find this place a bit on the wanting side. But if your feeding hungry teenagers this place will suffice. read more

If your taste buds cannot handle bursts of flavor, stay away from here. Their big, juicy, crunchy wings will keep me coming back at least once a week. We tried the spicy garlic buffalo and the jalapeño pepper. Those two flavors are without a doubt, the top flavors to ever put on wings. Not too spicy and you are guaranteed to be licking your fingers. Not too mention the plethora of sides to chose from! We got season fries and cole slaw and it was soo good! Their ranch is top shelf too, to say the least. All other wing places do not compare! Atop their delicious food, their customer service was A1! I'm already dreaming of coming back tomorrow. read more

Not a big wings fan but this place was pretty good, much better than wing stop but not the best wings I've ever had by far. I would give it a 4.3 tho because the chicken was cooked well and the sauces were good, recommend the dynamite if you like spicy read more

The drinks were great!! The teas and the mango drink were sooo good. Which is why they get the extra star. But when I bit into the wings..I don't know. The chicken seemed..off. I can't explain it. Maybe it was frozen and immediately thrown into the oil? It just tasted off. Ironically the sauces were amazing. Mango habanero and Buffalo was our pick. SoCal Wings is a great alternative to Wingstop and other hot wing fast-food chains. They usually get my order right when it was this young lady running the cash register. When I asked for only drummettes (the small drumstick attached to the wing) I get only drummettes. When I asked for light ice in my soda I get light ice. One star off because they forgot my napkins one time and just recently they gave me all wings instead of the drummettes. Overall, good place. read more

I'm just gonna cut to the chase. This place is amazing! Eating at bdubs and wing stop isn't the same anymore after going to this place. The wings are big and tender! The fries are just the cherry on top! If it's your first time I suggest you get mango madness and seasoned fries, literally an undefeated duo! Staff is nice and fast as well! read more

Had nothing to eat so I soon spotted a nearby place called "SoCal Wings". While taking my order I noticed how nice and pleased the cashiers were having me here. I order the SoCal fries, the dynamite fries, and a drink called Wintermelon. While waiting for my order I noticed how quick it was to serve. Me seeing the food is so hard to describe. It looked so exquisite and iridescent!!! SoCal Wings is now one of my favorite food. read more

I tried to give this new location a fair shot. I' first tried this place a couple of months ago when in a hurry to grab a bite. Not bad. Inside is spacious but nothing to write home about. Staff was friendly; food was "okay". Tonight, 2/26/20, I went back because my daughter wanted some lemon pepper wings. I bought those and some oysters. Since I don't like any seafood fried "hard", I made certain to tell the cashier to cook the oysters "light". I get home, find Black Ink and prepare to eat. I open up the brown paper bag and looked at the rocks inside. WTF?! I specifically asked for the oysters to be fried light. THESE things looked like jagged rocks from a lava pit! I went back and told one waitress the issue and she asked if she could redo the order. The real cook came out and apologized and did the order over, frying to a pretty medium brown. The same female brought me my order which I inspected. I had ordered a Large so I was missing a few oysters. The same girl took my incomplete order back to the kitchen and came back out a couple of minutes later with my new order. I glanced at the order; there were more oysters and they didn't appear burnt. Whew! I rush home and, once again, get ready to catch the rest of my show. I pop one oyster into my mouth. Not bad. I pop another into my mouth and realize that the oyster has been dipped into the very fires of HELL! Upon closer inspection, a couple more oysters looked like some red pepper had been sprinkled on them! Too tired to drive back and realizing that they had closed, I picked off the red pepper part and just ate the oyster. Never going back again. I don't do places that get mad and play with your food. What if I had a food allergy?! So YOU get mad because I demand to have my order done correctly?! Anybody else would have dragged that heffa across the counter! I didn't come in yelling. Irritated? Yes, but they were redoing the order so I wasn't angry. NOW I'm angry! read more

Had a horrible experience here. Would give negative stars if I could. Called to place a takeout order around 4:30pm today. Got there about 10-15 minutes after. Paid for my order at the front and the cashier said nothing about it being ready so I assumed the kitchen was still working on it. Ok no big deal, I sat down to wait. 30 minutes later, they still haven't called me up. Then I notice another customer goes up to the front to check on his order and told them that he sees his order in the back. So I decide to head up there and what do you know..I see a bag with my name on it in the back table. It was sitting back there for god knows how long with no one paying attention. Probably would still be back there if I didn't ask about it. Would've been understandable if the restaurant was busy but there was literally only 2-3 other customers in there besides me. So what the hell were all the staff doing?? Whoever's in charge of training or hiring the staff here obviously needs to do a much better job because they seem to be severely lacking in customer service skills and just plain attention to detail. I waited nearly 45 minutes for 15 damn wings that were subpar and dry. First and last time coming to this location. Would recommend going to the other locations or just other wing places if you want better wings and better customer service. read more

This was my first time trying SoCal Wings and I'll definitely be back. I got the house special and honey garlic sriracha wings and they were so good! The wings are packed with flavor and the price is great as well (also, amazing customer service). I'm always craving wings and this location is my new favorite spot. My Aunt and my mother ate here 1st, and then introduced me 2 it. I'm telling you, if you haven't tried this place, you are missing out!!! So cal Wings is GREAT!!!! My daughter and son n law visited from Houston, Texas and they loved it too. The California fries, catfish, fried shrimp, and the wings any flavor or naked are perfect! I think these are the best boneless garlic Parmesan wings I've ever tried. I almost made the mistake of ordering Wingstop but I gave this place a chance and they stepped up. This place is cheap but has got quality. Their aloha wings are okay to me but I like pineapple so I appreciate the chunks that came with and the jalapeño poppers are very good just wish they came with a sauce. These are seriously amazing wings! Tons of different flavors and so saucy and crispy. Our favorite flavors are sriracha honey garlic, lemon pepper, spicy garlic! Be careful tho, when they say spice they mean it lol also you can choose all wing or all drum which is awesome for those picky folk who only want one or the other! We've been eating these a lot during this whole pandemic and it's our go to when feeling indecisive. SO GOOD! And I just came on here to see if they had bomb reviews bc they should only to find out they don't have any! And I never review places but seriously...try these wings read more

Great wings and boba! The wings are top notch and flavorful (I ordered their house special and jalapeño and pepper). Both was cooked and marinated perfectly. This definitely is my favorite wing and boba place, I 10/10 recommended to come and try this place out. Also they sell breakfast in the morning! Their ham and cheese crossiant is the best. I've eaten at this place about 5 times now. Every time the wings are juicy, and overall really tasty. Highly recommend. The lemon pepper inspired me to write this. I don't even prefer lemon pepper. Great place. read more

I'm not sure I'd come back as I have other boba shops I much prefer nearby me.

We also got a fried chicken thing. It's not like Hiccups or Cha for Tea but decent. My son liked the little vending machines. We got some coins stuck and couldn't get it out so they did refund us $1. Parking can be tricky since there are other shops there. All in all, cute spot! The other food look good! Might come back! Thank you!

This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.

I really wanted to love it as I was craving wings. I ordered 20 Lemon Pepper wings. Maybe I should've gone with a dry rub flavor. But the wings could've been cooked a bit longer to give the skin time to crunch up. It was too soft/gummy for my liking. I could still visibly see on the skin where the feathers came out. Flavor was good. For my taste, I just wish they had been a bit more cooked. Cajun fries are delicious tho! I'll have to try a dry rub and see if its more to my liking.
