Built within an old bank building, Social Still is a wonderfully intimate bar and restaurant. Complete with a bar and bartop seating on the lower level and table seating on the upper level, it definitely feels bigger than it seems. The service we received was fantastic, with an attentive waitress with a great personality. The food, likewise, was fantastic, albeit a bit pricey. IMO, it's definitely worth the price. Everything we had was cooked perfectly and delicious. Social Still rocks and is definitely worth a visit. read more

I had started with their small chopped salad; SO good this was no ordinary side salad...i loved the seasoned toasted chick peas, pickled onions, and olives tossed in a light yet flavorful house made vinaigrette. Then I had the "Best Darn Veggie Burger" and it REALLY IS the best damn veggie burger I ever had. The portions are so generous that I had to skip some of the tasty sourdough toast it was on because I was so full; it was accompanied by a house made fresh summer slaw.....DELISH!!!! So this place was that good I went two days in a row and brought friends the second time. It's a really unique place that seems to be an old bank. They distill all of their own booze. I left with a bottle of bourbon, I love it but don't want to drink it all as I can't but it in Chicago to replace. The food was amazing, I had duck wings (both days!!) Cantonese style, these were so mouthwatering good. I have a craving for them now as I write this: I had a Bleau cheese wedge- which was one of the best cheeses I have had in a long time. read more

Only reviewing the turkey sammich, "best damn veggie burger" and Mac &cheese burger as well as one of the special cocktails. Everything was great. The cocktail was tasty. The turkey sandwich is amazing, especially the cranberry mayo. The veggie burger is very good too, I loved all the flavors. It fell apart a smidge too easily, but that's fine. Hardly a nitpick. Cool restaurant/distillery. Small location but we were seated quickly. Looks like this place was an old Bank, you can even check out the old vault where they have a few chairs and barrels. You can see the Still they use to make their own liquors. A lot of stuff is seasonal they said but try a flight of their spirits. They got some interesting ones. I've been to Social Still a few times now and it's always been good. They now have a gluten free menu which is quite extensive and includes burgers with gf buns. The have a great cocktail list which features their own housemade spirits. My friend had a jalapeño cocktail that I had a sip off that was outstanding and had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. For dinner I had the beet salad and the mushroom truffle burger. The salad was just ok, I had oranges, lettuce, blue cheese and beets. It needed some additional flavor, either the beets needed to be seasoned more or the dressing needed some more flavor. But still not a bad salad. The burger was excellent, great flavor combination and instead of big chunks of mushrooms it's almost like a tapanade. Our server was efficient and got us everything we needed in a timely manner. They also sell their spirits by the bottle and have a cute little gift shop area. read more

Absolutely incredible atmosphere at Social Still, a restaurant and distillery in an old converted bank that incorporates the bank vault and marble flooring into its decor. Their copper still makes a gorgeous backdrop behind the bar, and there's seating on two balconies to allow a bird's eye view of the whole restaurant. Our group of four wandered in around 6PM on a Saturday without a reservation and were initially told that their next anticipated opening wouldn't be until 9:15 PM but that we could keep an eye on the bar. While we were waiting, we stopped into their corner shop to sample some of their spirits. The gentleman within the shop was a great salesperson, answering all of our questions with a smile and encouraging free samples (their Sasquatch, a vanilla-maple bourbon, is phenomenal and not overly sweet!). During our tasting, I happened to see a group leave the restaurant and stuck my head back out to check for bar availability. When the hostess saw me, she told me a table up on one of the balconies had just opened up and was free for the next two hours if we wanted it --- which of course, we did. I'm grateful she offered it to us, but confused how they didn't anticipate this as a possibility in the first place. We definitely almost left to find a new dinner spot. We were quickly seated at a 4-top with a magnificent view of the restaurant and the friendly waitress reviewed the highlights of the menu with us. All of their cocktails feature their spirits and they offer some great local beers as well. I chose the Ain't That America Old Fashioned which substitutes the citrus flavors for apple and was delicious. BF ordered the #basic cocktail, which was a spin on the classic PSL. We shared the Everything Pretzel for an appetizer, which was massive and coated with salt, garlic, poppy seeds, and sesame seeds. The cheese fondue dipping sauce was a perfect, while the apple dip just didn't quite seem to go. For my meal, I chose the Everyday I'm Trufflin' burger (after a long debate looking over an excellent menu). The meat was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the toppings complimented each other nicely. BF got the turkey sammitch (delicious, but kind of basic), and one of our friends got the schnitzel and seemed to enjoy the meat but found the accompanying pumpkin spatzle to be dry and less flavorful. For dessert, we ordered pumpkin creme brulee, which was pretty good. It was a still a bit cold while the sugar on top had burnt a little, so I think there was a heating debacle. The flavor was excellent though, tasting like pumpkin pie filling but creamier. Our server was great, even bringing us three versions of our checks as she tried to predict how we'd want some of the items split. I appreciated her forethought and effort in making our closing process easier. It wound up coming to around $60 per couple which seems really affordable. The ambiance is unmatched, the perfect place for a date night or taking your family to brunch - be sure to make a reservation as it gets pretty busy (rightfully so!) That's not usually the case, as I would highly recommend the truffle fries, poutine, and tacos whenever they are on the menu! First time and my party of 4 made a reservation just in case. It wasn't busy when we had drinks and appetizers at 4pm but once it hit 530, this place got busy. It was a great, laidback atmosphere with great mood lighting and music. There are so many great drinks and food on the menu - coming back to try everything else ASAP. Parking lot available but also lots of street parking. Highly recommend the carrot cake and huckleberry crumble cake for desserts. Didn't get a picture of them because it was gone in minutes! We wanted to grab a bite and a beverage following a show at Wind Creek on a recent Saturday night and decided to give Social Still a try. We got there around 9:30 and were seated right away. We ordered a few appetizers to share as well as cocktails. We ordered the Korean shrimp, mushroom & onion flatbread, mussels, scallops, harvest salad and the crispy chicken sandwich. The food did not disappoint and neither did the cocktails. Even though they close at 11, we didn't feel rushed after the kitchen was closed and they called last call. Wonderful evening! We started with a guava mojito & white witch rum mojito, both were amazing!!! Tried the pork nachos, holy tender pork, cheesy goodness. The avocado cream was delightful! I had the scallops for my meal and my daughter had the Denver steak..... I already knew I loved the scallops from my last visit and they didn't disappoint! The Denver steak was very yummy as well( got sauce on side and was a little spicy for my daughters taste but flavor was delicious) fries weren't your regular fried potato..... nope, truffly, Rosemary, salty goodness!!!! Just love this place. Great vibe with the old converted bank and high ceilings and the food is interesting and great. Last night we shared the mussel and andouille fries appetizer and my wife had the soup special and salad, while I had the confit duck fried rice. Everything was outstanding. For dinner, I enjoyed the carnitas tacos with confit pork which were delicious and the pork was plentiful. My friend enjoyed the Every Day I'm Truffling burger but does say to order the truffle aioli on the side because it makes the burger too messy.
