This is one of my new favorite spots in Orlando and I was so excited to go back this weekend! We sat in the bar and enjoyed happy hour and absolutely feasted. Our server, Mary, was extremely friendly and took great care of us. I had a delicious old fashioned and our table shared the crispy mac n' cheese croquettes. They were a super nice treat and I loved the sauce -- a fun play on flavors similar to a grilled cheese with tomato soup. All of our meals were prepared perfectly! I couldn't choose a dinner so I went with the beet and avocado salad and the 'other KFC' cauliflower. I would happily order anything and everything on the menu - it's never disappointing. Thanks Chef Greg and your entire staff for a wonderful meal. Every dish we ordered was delicious and for me the highlight was the homemade biscuits with homemade butter and jam. That butter is delicious "old" school, brought back some flavors from my childhood memories. My fiancé and I have come to this restaurant for brunch quite a few times and it NEVER disappoints. We typically get the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, but they were sold out this day. However, the bartender recommended the dumplings.... Wow! The dumplings were stuffed with lobster and chicken with an amazing alfredo-y sauce. Came to Soco Thornton Park for a work dinner and it was worth every second of the dinner. We had about 15 people and sometimes the servers can get a little overwhelmed. I ordered the Bacon, egg, and cheese shrimp and grits and my boyfriend got the biscuits with gravy and pork belly. My dish was delicious although it could have used a bit more bacon. My boyfriend enjoyed his but the pork belly was disappointing. Looked more like bacon and from looking at pictures it varies a lot. I have walked past this place a million times and finally tried it ! The menu has always made me apprehensive because it is not your typical menu . A very interesting twist on southern food . To my amazement the food was phenomenal. There is a highly skilled and award winning chef who really mixes things us with different spices and food that you would typically not think goes together such as the chicken and dumplings with a mushroom sauce . Brunch here was such a great overall experience. Delicious food, wonderful, attentive and friendly service, free flowing mimosas, and a relaxing ambiance on the outdoor patio. We decided to sit outdoors even though it was like 90degrees outside, but we found it very nice. There were plenty of fans going, along with a nice breeze, and the outside patio is completely covered, so we never felt overly hot. It wasn't loud or super busy outside either, so we could hear ourselves talk and truly relax. Of course we ordered unlimited mimosas. The menu online says it's $15 with the purchase of an entree, but apparently they raised the price and it was $18 when we got there. No worries, it was plenty worth it. You could chose your juice, which was nice because I love the classic OJ while my husband likes to try different juices. I liked that they brought the juice in a separate individual carafe for you. Our server was very attentive! We never had to ask for a refill. He just kept the champagne flowing. For food, we chose the brunch burger and the avocado toast. The burger had pimento cheese, smoked bacon, and a perfectly fried egg on it. It was served with thick cut fries and this most amazing homemade ketchup (can't say I've ever been that excited about ketchup). The burger was so juicy it made the bun soggy and fell apart, so sadly my husband had to eat it with a fork. That was a big disappointment. But it was still very delicious. My avocado toast was delicious and beautifully presented. I opted to add the smoked salmon on top. It also had a perfectly runny poached egg, a thick layer of smashed avocado, and smoked bacon. It was served with this crema that added this nice rich taste. It was all very delicious! I will say there was very little of the goat cheese on it like the menu promised. But it was all very high quality food. All in all this place has that unlimited mimosas brunchy vibe without being too raucous to attract a young, wants to just get drunk crowd. I feel like this place was more sophisticated while still being relaxed and fun. read more

I recently had the pleasure to enjoy brunch at SoCo and it was fantastic. It has been a few years since I've been able to visit for brunch and everything was incredible. The service is always top notch, as is the food. But Brunch was OMG good! We enjoyed the Waffle Puffs in particular and they were tasty, and light with the perfect amount of sweetness. No need to reach for syrup as the cream, caramel and magical Chef Richie secret ingredients knocked it out of the park. The food was pretty except the scallops! The scallops were so salty my coworkers couldn't eat them. I had the red fish with okra and it was really good! For appetizers we had the chicken and lobster dumplings, pork belly biscuits, cheese board and deviled eggs. My favorite was the cheese board!! We need to talk about the BISCUITS !! OMG! AMAZING! I could've just eaten them and been happy lol. Dessert we had the moon pie, fresh fruit with hand made whip cream and bourbon bread pudding it was all very good! The first time we went here we had a really bad service experience. The service was very delayed, my drink arrived well after my main course, and my hub's short rib special was drastically over-cooked. That was over a year ago. We went back today and though the service was much better, we still waited a long time to receive our utensils after our apps arrived. That being said, our waitress was quite adorable and I appreciated her pleasant nature. The mushroom soup needed a tiny bit of salt but I MUCH rather need to add it than subtract it. It truly was delightful. My hubs got the meatloaf and WOW, that sauce was delicious. It was luscious and velvety - I know there's "lobster" in it but that wasn't the selling point. The sauce was great and the meatloaf would melt in your mouth. I got the shrimp and grits. I utterly despise fried okra so that part sucked, but certainly not to their fault. That is completely on me. The shrimp was cooked well but a tiny bit over. The sauce was great and I could have used a lot more of it. The grits were creamy but could have used more of that sauce. All in all it was a great meal with a few tiny missteps, but worth it nonetheless. read more

This is a solid brunch spot. I highly recommend making a brunch reservation well in advance. They are usually booked 1-2 weeks out from the times I've tried to book the week of. I ordered the Roasted Beets and avocado salad - very delicious but a very small portion size. If you're hungry I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, and some of their main entrees - delicious and worth the price you pay. We seemed to have lucked out with a couple seats at the bar for brunch because everyone else had to line up and wait or have a reservation! The service was so lovely at the bar. My friend recently moved to downtown Orlando. On my last visit we tried a lot of new spots in the neighborhood. We made reservations for Sunday brunch and our table was ready upon arrival. Due to Covid-19 I prefer to sit outside, so I was very pleased that the patio was an option. I ordered the avocado toast and added smoked salmon. One of my friends had a burger and the other biscuits and gravy. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer but the server forgot to add this item to our order. When my avocado toast arrived I realized there was no smoked salmon. The server handled this immediately and my food was back on the table in less than five minutes. The server was super friendly and charming however he wasn't all that great at his job. Although I appreciated that he handled the missing salmon quickly, the unlimited mimosas took quite some time to be refilled oh and don't forget the missing fried green tomatoes. Otherwise I would have given five stars because the food was phenomenal. My avocado toast melted in my mouth. I did not leave one morsal on my plate. (I'm slacking...I know) But if you're looking for a nice place to chat and enjoy some next level brunch food items then this is the place to be. I really feel that Soco is not you're regular brunch place. Most of the menu items change, depending on what the chef wants to do but I think that's the beauty of Soco. They create dishes that will make you think twice about ordering but once you've ordered it, you'll see that it was worth trying. My favorite dish is their skillet with hash browns. I never heard of this place before and decided to check it out on my way to another restaurant. So literally I pivot and I walk this way with my partner. We heard the dinner was good so we decided to just pick the things we thought was best on the menu and then digging. First things first the drinks were absolutely delicious. They definitely didn't mess on that part, however on my partners chicken and dumpling, we asked them to remove the mushrooms and they unfortunately failed to do so. However our waiter asked us to swap it out multiple times and we decided to just let it go. It wasn't a really big issue it was just something that was missed. However what I had was the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and that was absolutely delicious. It did not miss a beat as it was seasoned deliciously. FYI, this is one review out of two because I ended up coming back to brunch by the weekend to try out the brunch as well. That post is coming up shortly. However the dinner portion was just really good and the drinks were good as well I just can't remember the name of the drinks. I live 2 blocks away. So glad to hear it closed down. This was a regular spot for me for years, loved their brunches dinner menus, and location. I stopped going when I would take my clients to dinner and was told "no changes or substitutions, menu items are served as stated on the menu, because our chef is an artist". I have medical reason to remove corn off my plate. I never went back. I watched as a crowded restaurant went to an empty patio and eventually, closed. Go be an artist elsewhere, jerk. read more

First off the food was amazing, however the following experience is why I gave them the 3 stars as followed 1) the menu prices online are completely different then the actual menu Price difference range between $3-$6.00 2) The sever was nice but failed to mention a cake fee, I had no problem paying a cake fee but you should inform the guests up front. Which the sever did not and the blame the party for not hearing him over the music. We were the first guest seated the music wasnt even on yet. 3) The sever tried to nickle and dime us, one of the guest asked to substitute an item because they couldn't consume eggs, he informed us not a problem then once again another surprise on the bill he al a carte everything for the order When we brought it to his attention he advise oh my bad I did say you can sub that item out. Moral of the story go enjoy your meal and the atmosphere but be very careful and review your bill in addition make sure you are able to read the bill as the first one was not legible just dont hand them your payment The manager on duty that day didnt really care to much about our dining experience These reasons alone are the reasons why I am not sure if I'll be dining here again read more
