Pleasant servers. Lively atmosphere. Great for watching a game. Food is not bad. Good for a sports bar. A good time to be had by everyone.

Saw that Sofie's Steakhouse opened recently and was happy to stop in for lunch. The owner, Ahmad, greeted me at the door and I made my way to the bar. Since I was only the one at the bar, the gladly owner made my drink and we had a friendly chat about the new restaurant and how excited he was to bring the steakhouse concept to the area. Since it was just lunch, I enjoyed the lamb meatballs and I promise to order it every time I step foot in this place... it was so good!! Not to mention, there are more than enough TVs to enjoy a game or two. I plan to go back for dinner because their menu had a few other dishes I wanted to try including pizza (I mean who doesn't love pizza!). The missing star is really just due to the inability to tell if the place is open during the day. There's no sign that indicates they're open and the doors are tinted so it appeared close mid-day. Nonetheless, there's plenty parking and the place is clean... I'll be back for another visit.

Came here before the food was good. Came today got chicken wings Terrible!! Very dry taste old hard. I am done with this place.

As you probably guessed, we love to celebrate an occasion. Tonight, we are celebrating my husband's cousin Kerry's birthday at Sophie's Steakhouse. I want to start out by saying I love the atmosphere... the DJ is decent - we are in good the drinks are good. Now as for the food.... can you say Salt?!?! The appetizers were salty, with the exception of the spinach dip tasted like it was diluted. My steak salad would have been perfect if my steak wasn't chewy like rubber. Now for the wait staff, there are approximately 23 people in our party and we have only one waitress. I will say that she is very nice but her skills are below par. We're about to leave and I am still waiting for my drink.

This is how the butter was brought to our table.

Came for lunch and my first sign to run was the fact that at 12:00, there were only two other people in a huge dining room. I ordered the Prime Ribeye medium rare with a loaded baked potato. The baked potato had a few cheese shreds that got hard in the microwave. I asked for butter and it was clearly dropped on the floor. It had crumbs and fuzz all over it. The steak came out with no char on it and the middle was completely gray and well done. I took a bite and it was extremely tough, flavorless, and DEFINITELY not prime grade, nor worth the almost $30 price tag. I told the waitress about the steak and showed her the butter and she just stared at me. She didn't want to take it back. At this point, after seeing what my friend ordered and the filthy butter, I didn't want anything else. She stood there arguing with me that it was medium rare. It wasn't even medium well. She finally took it and then came back to the table to argue that the steak was cooked perfectly. It was inedible to say the least. Save your time and money.

We had a great time our waitress was good but the bartender was the star of the show. I loved her personality and she made the best Long Island ice tea I've ever and I mean ever had and believe me I've had a lot of them.

New to the area, Sofie's has a decent menu and a great staff interested in pleasing their customer's. This is a big space as it was previously a popular bar so it has been pretty empty on my 2 visits. We started out with lobster nachos that were really good. I ordered a salmon salad on my first visit which came out quickly and was really good. We also ordered a pasta dish, crab cakes, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. On my next visit I ordered to go salmon, potatoes and veggies and it was also really good. Check them out if you're in the area.

Okay so I've been eyeing this spot since they put the sign up while it was in the process of opening. There aren't a lot of steakhouses in the university area and my husband loves steak. Me on the other hand, I don't eat a lot of meat but usually I go for the seafood when we go to a steakhouse. The inside is huge with outdoor seating. Booth seating can easily hold 8 people. My Mom also loves steak so I brought her here for lunch. It was a late lunch around 1:30. I was intentionally trying to avoid a crowd and it worked. No one stays at the front, per my personal experience as well as observation while dining so just hang around a bit and they'll find you. The wait to be seated wasn't long. What stood out upon entering was the smell. It wasn't a bad smell per de but not the tantalizing smell I was expecting. We ordered an appetizer of bbq wings. We had to wait for our wings to arrive before we had an opportunity to place our order. I'm not sure if they forgot about us or if there was a mix up since one person took the appetizer order and someone else actually waited on us the remainder of the time BUT it took so long for our food to come that our server came and asked us what we ordered. Upon telling her she went to the kitchen and came right back with my shrimp burger and fries and my moms steak and baked potato. Soooo my fries were cold. But I imagine if they were hot they would have been really good. The shrimp burger I just could not go through with. I'm sure someone would like it. I just couldn't get with the mixture of the ingredients and their flavor. I sent it back and our server graciously brought the lobster nachos I ordered. My Mom said her 8 oz prime filet was 'ok' but that she's had better. The replacement lobster nachos were okay. A little bland for me but I LOVE spicy food. What I love about the menu is that the dishes are eclectic and not the typical stuff you see. The wings we had were ok. Unfortunately we didn't have anything that we'd order again BUT I would definitely bring my husband back so he can try for himself and I would try again. The service was really good and everyone was very friendly. Busing could go quicker. There weren't a lot of people eating but the table across from us wasn't bussed the entire time we were there. Lots of TVs in the bar area. Great place for a business lunch or group. Casual atmosphere and attire. Kid friendly.

Definitely NOT a steakhouse! The Quesadilla and Cajun pasta is great. I have tried other dishes and wasn't impressed.

The wings were AMAZING, and the sliders were absolutely delicious! They were so good that I devoured them before I even thought to take a picture! Unfortunately, the pierogies were the one disappointment, especially since they were actually the main reason I decided to order from here. They were a bit too greasy for my taste. After eating two, I ended up placing the rest on a paper towel to absorb some of the excess oil, which unfortunately made them less enjoyable. That being said, I would definitely eat at The Degenerate again. I'd happily order the wings and sliders again, but I would probably skip the pierogies next time unless they're one of those dishes that are simply better enjoyed fresh at the restaurant rather than as takeout. Overall, there were definitely more hits than misses, and those sliders and wings alone are worth another visit!

We had a reservation for a Monday dinner on my husband's birthday, which happened to also be 1/2 priced wine day (glasses or bottles up to $40). Maybe it was because of the affordable wine or the World Cup on TV, but the place was surprisingly bumpin'. We came with our toddler, and the staff were super friendly with her. She really enjoyed snacking on the complimentary crackers and cheese spread. My husband and I decided to share the dinner special for 2, which is a 10 oz filet mignon, 2 lobster tails, and 4 sides for $178. A delicious splurge! For our sides, we chose a Caesar salad, cheesy fried potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, and balsamic brussels sprouts. The steak was so tender and savory. Absolutely loved it. Definitely one of the best steaks I've had in the city! After our meal, our server brought a complimentary dessert, a layered mousse cake, served in a martini cake with a candle to celebrate my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, this Restaurant Week visit was nothing like the Eddie V's I remembered. I dined solo at the bar and actually had to ask for the Restaurant Week menu. I chose the upgraded lobster bisque (+$5) and Chilean sea bass (+$10), looking forward to treating myself. I rarely splurge on a nice dinner, so this was something I had been excited about all day. The food was mixed. The lobster bisque was flavorful, although the amount of lobster was surprisingly small. The mashed potatoes were outstanding, and the asparagus was very good. The Chilean sea bass was cooked well but lacked seasoning and wasn't the memorable entrée I expected. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. The restaurant was less than half full during my visit, so the extended delays were especially surprising. I waited an unusually long time for my entrée while guests who arrived after me were served first. Another surprise was that the only restroom I was directed to required going down to the basement, which was difficult with my mobility issues (I need my knee replaced). I would encourage the restaurant to make it clearer whether there is an accessible restroom available on the main floor, as this could be challenging for many guests. After another long wait for dessert, I asked to have my crème brûlée boxed because the delays meant I would now be walking back to my hotel after dark. I explained that I had intentionally walked there for exercise and had planned to walk back before dark. The response I received was simply, "Just call an Uber." That completely missed the point. I wasn't asking for transportation--I was explaining how the delays had changed my evening. To add to the confusion, I was given two desserts instead of the one I requested. While I appreciate the gesture if it was intended that way, it reinforced the feeling that no one was really listening. What disappointed me most wasn't simply the wait. It was the complete lack of service recovery. No sincere apology, no acknowledgment of how long I'd waited, and no effort to make the experience feel special. I've always thought of Eddie V's as one of Charlotte's premier dining experiences. That's exactly why this visit was so disappointing. I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience because I'd like to remember Eddie V's for the exceptional restaurant it has been in the past.
