I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich from the menu. It was served in a flour tortilla, which was unexpected and weird. I assumed it would be on pita or at least flatbread. I couldn't get over that. The chicken was spiced well, but dry. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion and a garlic sauce-all good there. I wish they would change to traditional pita, i would try again, but I'm not up for the tortilla. read more

Very warm welcome upon entering the restaurant. That goes a long way with me because it shows people care. I had the beef shawarma plate and the chicken shawarma fries. We, finally, tried Sofie's Pita and we are so happy we did! We ordered the combination plate, chicken and beef shawarma with a Greek salad and it was so good! Finally Ramona has a spot to satisfy our Mediterranean food cravings! We just found this hidden gem close to 7/11. Gyros are on point, Shawarma fries for anyone tired of the same old thing from our local Mexican restaurants (not dissing), and homemade Baklava and Kunafa. The staff is friendly and the cook(s) are amazing. Don't think of this as fast food as it takes a little longer to create the magic flying out of their kitchen. Definitely our new go to in Ramona. Great food spot. Especially for Ramona, much needed variety! Kids got cheeseburger and fries, I had a bite and the burger was super tender. I would honesty come back just for the burger. My wife and I got the gyro plate and humus. The gyro meat was delicious! To finish it off, we tried the cheesecake, baklava and tiramisu. Yummmm! Is about all I can say! Be weary, prices can change. I've had three different prices for the same dish over the past few weeks (two sides of shawarma meat added to a dish). When I asked why, I was told by the male owner, the first price was wrong, the second price was correct and the third price (the most often charged) was overcharged. The meat is average in its freshness and the portions are average as well (compared to other Mediterranean locations in Poway and San Marcos where the freshness and portions are better, for the same pricing as Sofia's). The on line menu is not complete. It does not reflect actual items inside a dish (so confirm before ordering) and there is no pricing for some side orders either. Also, the male owner is not shy about his political beliefs, which is irritating and unwanted when getting lunch, even if there may be an agreement on his political affiliation. read more

The food is tasty but it takes awhile to make so I'd definitely advise calling your order in and picking it up as opposed to dining in. I ordered the chicken shawarma salad. It was good but it needed more dressing. It would have been nice to have some on the side. The rest of the food my family ordered was great.
