Sofra Urbana is a brand new pizza place serving a mix of Bosnian and Italian cuisine. Previously this place was called Rocco's and only offered Italian cuisine. All of the items are halal, except for the wings according to the owner. I came here with 3 other co-workers and we ordered an XL Sofra special pizza, Chevapi, Bureks, and Cockta drinks. It was a lot of food and had to take quite a bit of it back to work , but we wanted to try their unique offerings. Sofra special pizza XL ($23) - This pizza consisted of beef pepperoni, turkey Canadian bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, and turkey bacon. As I don't eat pork, it was a real treat to find pepperoni and bacon toppings that I could eat and enjoy. All the meats had great flavor to them. The XL came with 12 slices and was a 16" pie. Mini 8" (4 slices), medium 10" (8 slices), large 12" (10 slices), giant 18" (12 slices) are the other sizes available. They have several specialty pizzas, and I'll probably go with the meat lovers on my next visit. All of their pizzas are prepared in a brick oven. Chevapi (large) $13.50 - This dish consisted of 10 home made ground beef sausages (skinless) sandwiched between 2 pieces of bread. The bread was soft on the inside and had diced onions, while the crust of the bread was crunchy. A red pepper based sauce and some sort of creamy butter sauce was provided to help add some flavor to the already incredibly juicy sausages. This was a unique dish that I had never tried before and was glad that I did. A smaller version of a chevapi is available with 5 pieces for $7. Beef Burek ($9) / Cheese Burek ($8) - This is a phyllo dough based dish stuffed with meat, cheese, spinach, or potatoes. The beef burek consisted of flavored ground beef while the cheese burek was made with feta cheese. Both of these Balkan region based dishes had so much flavor and I enjoyed the mouth-feel of the layers of crispy phyllo dough and the inside filling. All the burek dishes came with a small serving of a cucumber yogurt based sauce for dipping purposes. Cockta ($3) - This is the Balkan region's answer to Coca-Cola. According to my Serbian coworker he was saying it's much healthier and made with more natural ingredients. Taste wise it tastes just like Coke. Wings, sandwiches, and salads are also available here. I really enjoy exploring and trying foods from different areas of the world. So it was a real treat to try some of the popular Bosnian dishes out there. Everything that I tried tasted incredible. Seating is limited to about 25 people with a handful of tables inside the restaurant as well as 2 small tables outside. I'm glad there is another place in the OC that serves halal pizza so I can satisfy my craving for pizza filled with pepperoni and bacon. I'm looking forward to my return visit! read more

What is really confusing about this place is their store sign - Sofrana Urbana is in small print, you may mistake it for a pizza place. But it's more than just pizza! Sofra Urbana is my favorite pizza place and also one of my top 5 restaurants I love going to. The staff are welcoming and the food is amazing. Some of my favorite dishes to order are the Chevapi which are juicy sausages tucked into their freshly baked bread called Lepinje/Somun and the Sofra Urbana Pizza. The pizza contains a simple but tasty tomato sauce as the base, creamy mozzarella cheese, and mushrooms which are baked in their stone oven. Once it is finished baking its topped with peppery arugula, savory Suho Mesa which is like beef prosciutto, nutty Parmesan and lastly but not least truffle oil on the top. The food does take time to come out since everything is made fresh to order so be patient but just know it's all worth the wait. I highly recommend the Giant pizzas and large Chevapi. I love ordering the Giant pizzas whenever I have a cheat day or a celebration like my birthday. This is one of the great small businesses that have been able to survive through these tough times so let's support them while eating delicious food. read more

Great food, friendly service, highly recommended. This is one of those rare hole-in-the-wall gems. Decent thin-crust pizzas. Their specialty and best food is Mediterranean food. They make best "Chevapi" in SoCal, if not USA. -- "Chevapi" is like mini kebabs, but much more flavorful: 5 or 10 mini beef rolls in a freshly made thick pita bread, with 2 sides: "Ajvar" (like salsa from red peppers and eggplant), and "Kajmak" (soft cheese-like spread similar to Mascarpone). Also recommended: -- "Shopska Salad": Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. and feta cheese. -- "Burek": Spiral Pies with Spinach, Cheese, Beef or Potatoes. -- "Sutliyash": Rice Pudding with Almonds. Very good food and service. Spinach burek was out favorite. Great flavor and flakiness Meat burek was also very good. Unfortunately we did not get the tzatziki with our order so wondering how much better or different it would have been. Will need to make sure we get it next time. The cevapi was also very good. Good smokey flavor and char. My wife found it a little too strong but I really enjoyed it. Some had a pink center so not sure if under cooked or that's the way it supposed to be served but still very good. Both sides that came with were a good compliment. I will note that the staff handled a very busy afternoon with patience and grace. Before we got there there was a group of maybe 20 people who basically all ordered separately but all knew each other. These people lacked patience and despite the rudeness of this group, the 2man team taking orders, cooking and serving handled it all with grace. Great place to dine in. Their special food chevapi is incredible... Such a tender and delicious meal! I also love their pizza, it's different from ones we are getting use to eat. They add basturma (not sure about spelling. Lol) which makes it simply awesome. Never got a chance to take a picture of food, we always eat it at once. Just brought my family in because I've never tried Bosnian food before. It was delicious! We tried several dishes, and they were all tasty and hearty. I definitely enjoyed the stuffed peppers and the cevapi sandwich. My toddler loved his burek with cheese. What a great place! We stopped in while running errands earlier today and boy are we happy we did. We ordered the mini pizza, fries and a drink meal to share. Pizza had sausage with 1/2 pineapple and 1/2 mushroom. It was so delicious, especially the crust! The fries were cooked perfectly. I love good food and this place is a hidden gem. Will definately be back soon! In addition, when we walked in I remembered that I had been to this place before. During COVID my kids and I wanted to make pretzels but couldn't find yeast anywhere. Thought of trying a pizza place and ended up here. Was willing to pay whatever for some, and the two guys at the front were kind enough to give me some for free in a time of uncertainty for everyone. Yes it really is delicious...everything was good but the main star for me was the cevapi, and the small is really perfectly sized. That dark smoky prosciutto on the pizza is also quite good. Price wise it's in line with post COVID casual restaurants, nothing is cheap anymore when it comes to restaurants. Can't wait to go back! read more

I came here on a recommendation from a fellow foodie and all I can say is that it was well worth the drive. (I traversed the freeways of LA to dine here.) Don't let the strip mall location deter you from this place. Let it be a plus that you'll always find parking. The staff are friendly and very generous. There's one TV, that had ESPN playing, which was nice to watch while dining in. And the whole place was very clean. There is even seating outside. I always pass this spot when going to Kawaii bakery (which I haven't written about yet o_O) Finally I gave this place a shot with my baby sister. It's weird whenever my mom is in the hospital and my sister and I are severely hungry, we always get a slice somewhere lol. So we came in and saw folks getting their maaaaaaaad grub on which to me is a good sign because no one was saying shit through out their meals. They stayed focused on the food :D I love how you can add any topping to a slice. Usually places that serve by the slice only have cheese or pepperoni on deck and you'd be lucky to get a sausage slice! Rachel and I ordered classic pepperoni slices. They were just making a fresh pizza for slices, so we lucked out with a VERY fresh pizza slice. Your slice comes on a cute little pizza pan which is smart because I love melted cheese oozing off my slice but I hate when it sticks to those thin white paper plates. This is a smart idea since I can scrape off the oozing cheese and enjoy. These are thick slices but not super doughy. I like my pizza in between. The crust and the bottom had a nice crunch. Man do I love a cheesy pizza ! A good amount of pepperonis as well. My sister loved her slice just as much as I did!
