Cevapi (small 5pc) with the pickled veggies and onions.
Jonathan S.

The place is pretty quaint with about two to three tables since I'm assuming it's mostly for people taking orders to-go. I had to look up the menu and have "Google" translate everything since I have no idea what everything is. I took the "Cevapi," which is like a pocket pita bread that you would find at the Olive Pit. The meat was really hot and not too chewy, but I wasn't too impressed with the bread, since it tasted a bit on the cold/"lukewarm" side, but the pickled veggies and onions were the BOMB!! Price is a bit up there for just a Cevapi for $10, but again, nothing to write home about.

Saw the instagram post and my mouth started watering for the delicious food, we went there today for dinner, had the chicken ranch sandwich and the cevapi sandwich, both the service and foot rock, highly recommend it!

Located in a shopping plaza. With plenty of free parking. I ordered the cevapi small meal, which came with 5 cevaps, lepinja bread, raw white onions, cabbage salad, kajmak, and ajvar. The halal cevapi were juicy, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The lepinja bread was soft and warm, great for building bites. Adding the raw onions gave it a nice sharp contrast, and the cabbage salad was fresh and light, which balanced everything out really well. The kajmak was creamy and rich, and the ajvar had that slightly smoky, peppery flavor that tied everything together. Simple ingredients, but everything worked exactly how it should. The place itself is clean and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Food came out hot and fresh. Amazing Balkan food.

+ The Balkan (Bosnian) pizza was yummy, crunchy, and easy to eat. . I asked for side entrée recommendations. The clerk highlighted the Ćevapi (it's like a sausages sandwich). It was decent. I like that it comes with a variety of sides (onions and sauces). + Very friendly, helpful staff. + Decent amount of indoor + outdoor seating. + Pleasant ambience. + Ample free parking, but for some reason today (Saturday noon) was very crowded. . Though the pizza takes ~15min to cook, nice that there are nearby stores to walk around to pass the time. - The food was a lil exorbitant. Our total for a large pizza + a small Ćevapi was almost $40.

Love it, outmost flavorful and filling. It's been awhile and here we are again. They don't have fountain drinks anymore but they have drinks in their drink fridge to choose from.

I LOVE the ćevapi and pizza at this place. The ćevapi are some of the best, hands down, outside of Bosnia. (And I'm Bosnian so that says a lot!) They are consistently good, too! I've never been disappointed with them. The pizza is also amazing. It has a really good crispy dough and they have suho meso (smoked meat) as a topping which you honestly can't get anywhere else. The pita (burek and cheese phyllo wrapped savory pastry) is underwhelming, though. I wish they made their own dough for these. It makes a world of difference. The phyllo dough makes it very inauthentic, and is always doughey and undercooked towards the center. That is definitely taking a shortcut with pita and I wouldn't recommend that. Another downside is how dirty the bathroom usually is. They really need to have a better cleaning schedule here. This is a big turn off. Other than that, service is good and the usuals are consistently tasty so I will keep coming back for it. Oh, and everything is HALAL! So, a big win there!

Came here for dinner and ordered a bunch of things to share. Cevapi -- delicious. I added all the condiments. I wanted a garlic component to it, like a sauce, so I added that to my leftovers and it was very tasty. The salad we ordered was also tasty. It was the Mediterranean salad. The pastry thing with spinach was good too. Sofra Urbana pizza was good too. Definitely want to come back again to try more.

Great casual dinner spot. Went for dinner with some guys and i was excited to try halal Bosnian food for the first time. Overall the meal and experience were excellent. My friends are picky about their meat and the flavor in the Cevapi (Bosnian mini kabobs/sausage) was impressive to all of us and the bread with it was also fresh baked - this is the one dish to definitely try. We also had the Sofra Urbana Pizza and the beef prosciutto on this was also delicious. The Erko pizza and chicken wings we had were also good. Restaurant was clean and the owner was very friendly and kept the place open a little late since we were a larger group so we could enjoy and finish our meal. Will definitely be back to try again!

We've been craving cevapi since we visited Croatia last July and this place did not disappoint! Admittedly was better than the stuff we had over there. Service is also extremely friendly and the restaurant has a super cozy vibe. Will absolutely be returning!!

Sofra Urbana is a true gem in Fountain Valley. I came here for the cevapi and it completely blew me away. I've had this dish in Croatia before, and somehow it was just as delicious--if not even better--right here. The meat was juicy and perfectly seasoned, the bread was fresh and soft, and the accompaniments tied everything together beautifully. It brought me right back to my travels. Beyond the food, the whole experience was wonderful. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive. You can tell they take pride in sharing authentic Balkan cuisine. The portions are generous, the flavors are spot on, and everything feels homemade with care. I've heard rave reviews about their burek, stuffed peppers, and desserts, and after this visit I can't wait to come back and try more. Sofra Urbana is the kind of place that makes you want to bring your friends and family so they can experience it too. If you're anywhere near Fountain Valley, do yourself a favor and stop by. This is hands down some of the best, most authentic food you'll find in Orange County. Highly recommend

10 piece cevapi 9/10 As a Middle Easterner, I'm someone who prides themself in knowing a little something, something about spices in food. I never imagined European food could taste so good! This Bosnian/Albanian restaurant serves something you've never heard of but need to try: cevapi (pronounced chevapi) What I can only describe as explosively flavorful mini Kabobs, served in fresh baked warm bread, accompanied by a side of a mayonnaise like cream sauce with a non-spicy tomato salsa, cilantro, and red onions. The kebabs himself taste like a combination of ground beef, spices, and I suspected cilantro . The only thing missing was a little bit of spice, but I'm sure on my next visit. I can ask for a little pepper sauce. This is such a satisfying dish that I am willing to pay nearly $20 for the larger 10 piece cevapi sandwich. That time I didn't get the pizza, but I'm sure it was delicious . I'll be sure to try it again next time Try cevapi!

I had Bosnian pizza for the first time today! I'm a gluten free guy and I've tried all the gf pizza available in OC. One of my new friends took me to get gf pizza and everything was delicious. You'll have to take my word for it, but you can taste the quality. The restaurant is charming with an urban vibe. Sofra Urbana Pizza Grill has amazing service and food. I'll definitely be going back soon!

The pizza is very mediocre and much like the big chains. The burek is better. The spinach burek reminds me of spanokopita.

Ask the Community - Sofra Urbana

Do the staffs wear face masks and gloves when handling the food orders?

As far as I have noticed, they do. I have visited them many times during the pandemic and they have always been considerate of the situation

Is the meat Zabiha Halal ( hand slaughtered meat) ? Please advise.

When I was there, I remember seeing that it stated halal on the menu, so I believe yes.

Our server was very warm and helpful. For two of us we ordered one heavier dish and 3 on the lighter side and I actually left pretty stuffed. The menu is always evolving so I'd love to return, but for this visit we started with the bread and ham butter. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ham butter imparted so much flavor. My favorite item that we ordered was the Galician Octopus. The thin slices were perfectly executed and the flavors underneath packed a punch. I would pass on the Gambas al Ajillo. While the shrimp were large, I found myself wishing that they had some char. The Summer Squash Salad was a perfect complement to the other dishes. I found the squash ribbons to be unique, the dressing to be light and fresh, and the inclusion of small bits of cheese to impart just the right amount of saltiness to the dish. Because we were celebrating my birthday, they gave us a complimentary slice of the basque cheesecake with a candle in it. Typically I'm not a big fan of this type of cheesecake, but theirs was wonderful and we ate the whole thing. I'm always appreciative when a restaurant does a little something extra for a special occasion. Extra props to our server because she noticed the gift that my friend brought for me and took it upon herself to inquire about the occasion and bring the dessert. It's those little touches that mean a lot.

When booking, I had the option of dining , chef's table, or patio seating. I specifically chose the dining since my daughter loves creating content, and the indoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful for photos. The hostess seated us on the patio, and I mentioned that I had selected dining. I was told that seating is based on first availability, which was a little disappointing, especially since the restaurant is right on the water and by 7:30 PM it was getting pretty chilly. While they do have heaters outside, sitting in gusty winds with the smell of gas (especially after a fresh trip to the hairdresser!) just wasn't ideal. My daughter went back to the car to grab a blanket. Thankfully, the hostess noticed my discomfort and came back shortly after saying, "Donna, we have another table further down that's out of the wind and under a heat lamp." That small gesture made a big difference, and honestly, that's when the experience started to turn around. From there, things only got better. When our entrées arrived, our waiter Nick realized we had never received our appetizers. Without hesitation, he assured us he would make it right, and he absolutely did. He brought out a selection of cheeses for us to sample, which led to us ordering a caviar bump paired with champagne (highly recommend!). To top it all off, he surprised my daughter with olive cake and fresh berries to celebrate her birthday. Such a thoughtful touch. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Not just because the food was amazing, but because of the attention to detail and how seriously they take the overall dining experience. Parking is available in a nearby garage, and they validate the first 90 minutes, which is a nice bonus.

Yesterday, I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom after she made a reservation, and honestly, I wish we had just gone somewhere else. We sat down right at our 1:00 reservation and then waited 35 minutes just to get a drink menu. Not food. Not to order. Just the menu for drinks. After we finally ordered, the champagne showed up about 20 minutes later. It was served in wine glasses, which feels like basic wine bar knowledge, but apparently not here. When we asked to switch them to champagne glasses, the waiter brought out smaller wine glasses. Not exactly good etiquette for a place that leans so heavily on its bar concept. The whipped ricotta appetizer came out even later, around the 65 minute mark. As an appetizer. It was fine, probably the best thing we had, but "fine" after that kind of wait is not a positive. From there, everything just dragged. It took almost an hour for my mom's meatballs to come out, and when they did, they were raw. Not slightly underdone. Fully pink in the middle. She sent them back and was so turned off she didn't even want to eat anything else. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for light dressing. What I got was the opposite. It was drenched in a thick, heavy dressing that made the whole thing borderline inedible and the lettuce soggy. After our food, I tried to order drip coffee, which they didn't have, so I settled for an Americano. I asked for warm cream, which I've had done at plenty of places, and somehow it came out clotted. If you know anything about coffee, that shouldn't happen. At this point, we had been there for over two and a half hours. For a salad, an appetizer, and four raw meatballs. The server was very nice and doing his best with being busy. BUT, the overall operation felt completely disorganized and untrained. We weren't the only ones either. The couple next to us was also complaining after waiting 40 minutes just to order breakfast items. To make it even better, parking is only comped for 90 minutes. So because of their slow service, we ended up paying for parking on top of overpriced, underwhelming food. What should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. The bathroom also wasn't clean either time I went, which pretty much sums up the lack of attention to detail across the board. The only slightly redeeming part was the crème brûlée, which was... fine. Not amazing. Just fine. It's a pretty space. I'll give them that. But that's about where the positives end. The food is not good, the timing is unacceptable, and the whole experience feels like Instagram style over quality and substance. Definitely not worth the money, and not somewhere I'd ever go back to.
