**This review was for Rocco's Pizza, it is now Sofra Urbana with different owners from when I reviewed** Remember the end of The Wizard Of Oz after Dorothy returns from somewhere over the rainbow? She is gushing to her family her realization that everything she could ever have wanted was right in her own backyard? That was the feeling I got upon finishing my 1st slice of Rocco's Pizza. I have been all over OC in search of my favorite pizza. Tonys for deep dish, excellent, but we'll leave them in a dif classification all by themselves. Il Dolce Pizzeria, good crust a lil bland though, crappy service and very unfriendly owners caused me to never make a return visit. Pizzeria Ortica with their 300 year old starter dough is also in its own class, served in a formal dining room by a professional wait staff that are dressed to match. Westside Bar and Grill has about the best bar pizza imo. Now we come to good old American pizza parlor pizza. An Americanized version of the Naples original style. Round Table, Papa Johns etc have made millions with their uninspired but mostly edible versions. I prefer the ma n pa shops, the ones that are in every neighborhood throughout the country. I now have found MY current favorite neighborhood pizzeria, less than 3 miles from home. About the most enthusiastic greeting upon entering in memory. Not only cheery but very accommodating too. The $6.99 lunch special (mini pizza, salad, drink) stated that it inc only 2 toppings. I asked how much for a 3rd topping and happy sweet young lady replied, "ah don't worry about it." Oft times mini's can't compare with the normal sizes as they just don't bake up as well. This one was awesome, although I did see a "normal" one and the crust looked much more impressive. Pizza envy? But this crust def still excelled. Nice and chewy, very flavorful crust and fresh toppings. The interior is your basic take-out pizzeria with a few tables and a flat screen, and some beachy pictures making up the interior decor. I felt very comfortable, def enhanced by the super nice employees. Hear that II Dolce? So if/when in the area and in need of some good ol' American Pizzeria style pizza, ya can't go wrong here. I'll def be back, although for evening sustenance I will get it to go as there is no beer/wine. HSYL informed they are considering it, but as she said "it's really expensive." I can't recall when the first time I had Rocco's was but I've been hooked ever since. I usually get their personal pizza lunch special. It comes with a mini pizza with your choice of 1 topping, a side salad, and a regular drink. I'm usually quite picky with my pizzas, I don't eat it often so when I do I have a couple regular spots that I go to. Rocco's Pizza has become one of them. I am a cheese connoisseur! The one thing that makes their pizzas stand out is the CHEESE. I don't know what it is about their cheese but it's what keeps me coming back. Their side salad is okay, there's nothing too special about it. Again, I do like to pick the cheese they put on top of the salad as well... CHEESE... Good place to try if you want you want to stray from the bigger pizza joints. The interior isn't too big. They only have maybe 8-10 tables and 2-3 TVs that play sport stations for people who'd like to watch the game but not in huge groups. It's a nice, cozy pizzeria. read more

My husband and I were in the area having something fixed on our truck, and were looking for some cheap eats for lunch. I used the trusty yelp app, and found Rocco's. For a little over $8 will get you a salad, personal pizza and a drink, or a salad, sandwich and drink. We ordered at the counter, and the guy said, that will be about 15 minutes. The wait was much much longer than that, and we couldn't figure out why. Soon, the counter guy came out to our table, and asked my husband for his credit card, stating that he was so sorry for the long wait, and that he wanted to refund our lunches completely, since it took so long. As it turned out, the health inspector was there, and he had to deal with her, as he was there alone. We declined his offer, and just said we understand. The salads are very simple, but very nice sized, fresh and crisp. My husband loved his pizza, and raved about the crispy crust. I ordered the meatball sub and it was really good! On a return visit, I tried their pizza, and it was really good, but I still think I liked the meatball sub better. Seating is limited to about 4 or 5 little tables, and both times that we've been there, about half of them were occupied. read more

Another great neighborhood pizza joint. Located inside of a strip mall with a small counter and a big screen for the guys to escape from their wives, I guess. A true hidden gem. Adhering to halal rules, Sofra stays true to its roots. They offer pizzas, but the only real reason to come here is for the cevap and borek. The recipes are fiercely guarded, as is tradition in the region. If you have a craving for that perfect Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian "chevapi" and haven't been able to find it, look no further. Leaving CVS to go home and catch the Miami/Dallas game, I realized that I needed to get dinner. I saw Rocco's in the same shopping center and decided to grab something to go. I asked if they had pasta, they said no. Drag, but no star deductions because the business name is Rocco's Pizza, not Rocco's Pasta or Rocco's Italian! So, I asked for a slice of Cheese Pizza and a small Antipasto salad with Italian dressing (the only way to eat it IMO). Glad I didn't get the large, because this was one big "small" salad and only $4.50! Plus $1.85 for the slice of pizza. Pizza was good and I never eat just cheese pizza because I think all cheese pizza lacks flavor. This one was enjoyable! Next time I'll order it with pepperoni, I'll bet money it's a winner! Anyway, it's half time and Dallas is getting whipped, and I had a pretty decent dinner for under $7.00. So...I do recommend Rocco's Pizza! read more

Rocco's came to the rescue for the bf and I on one very lazy Friday night. We were hungry (as usual) but didn't want to get our butts off the couch (also as usual). No chain pizza joints seem like it would hit the spot so I called Rocco's. There's a bit of Yelp hype around this pizzeria so why not? Here's the thing, the bf and I LOVE to eat but don't love to eat the same things. Solution? A giant NY style pizza with half ham and pineapple and half pesto chicken. So yes, we both got to have our pies and eat it, too! This nearly 2-foot pizza was delivered under 45 minutes as promised. The gentleman I spoke to over the phone as well as the one that delivered the pizza were as friendly as they get! Top it off, we were both completely satisfied with our halves of the pizza. My half was topped with tender white-meat chicken, red onions, and oozing pesto sauce. A little overloaded with cheese but still hit the spot! I finally found a local pizza joint that makes an AMAZING tasting PIE! The menu includes a Sicilian style or NY thin "Watch your Weight" crust PIE. What I love about this place is that all the pies are baked in a fire-brick oven, which gives the Pie a true wood-fired taste. Also, the crust was evenly toasted throughout the pie. They use fresh, top quality ingredients on all their pies. The best part is that they use 100% Wisconsin Mozzarella cheese, which gives that Ooey Gooey stretchy smooth texture. My top favorites are the Rocco and Hawaiian Special. The pies range anywhere from $8.75 - $20.95. If you check in on Yelp you are able to get an $18" cheese pizza for $13.75. Not bad... not great, but I'll probably be back since it's the closest neighborhood pizza place to me. The people working there are pretty nice and chill. It's clean and there's a flatscreen on the wall for watching games. As for the pizza, I asked if they could do pepperoni and mushroom and I was pretty happy that they could. It looked like they made a bunch of cheese pizzas and just stuck the extra toppings on and put it in the over for a couple of minutes. When I opened my two slices, I was a bit disappointed because the mushrooms didn't look cooked... They were okay, but I wanted it in the over longer... You can add up to 5 toppings! We frequent Kawaii Bakery ALOT but never even thought twice about trying this place! We were in the area and were starving for a good snack! They made our pizza literally fresh out the oven and it was soooo GOOD!!! We both got pepperoni and cheese and it was so OOEY & GOOEY and DELICIOUS!!! I loved every bite of it!! Alexis loved it so much she finished hers before I did! The guy (not sure of he was the owner or manager) but he was friendly and made a good first impression! I've had A LOT of pizza in my day, and it has NEVER been better than this place. I'm pretty tired of all of these corporate pizza places. I'm glad I found this place because there's no other pizza like it. If you like a traditional Pizza Margarita ( Cheese and Basil ) They might not offer it, but you can order a cheese pizza, and run to the market, buy some basil, slice it, and sprinkle a handful on. Twice, I've popped in here for a slice while running errands. Both times I was told, we don't have slices. I said, it's on your window that you serve slices. I have been here a few times before, and I don't know why I keep coming back. Their pizza is good, not anything special, but their service is terrible. This is the second time I have problems when trying to order by phone. One time, they declined service due to them closing in 5 minutes. Why not close at 8:55 then? And now today, I ordered my food at 8:20pm and was promised it would be ready in 20 minutes. Here I am, 30 Minutes later ready to pick up my food and he said it will be 15 more minutes. This is just bad service. I understand that things happen and it gets busy, but why not communicate that it will not be at the time they promised and not give an attitude. I will not be returning to a place that gives bad service and I recommend you just save your time and go to round table pizza instead. read more

I actually used to like this place, but over time it has slowly gotten worse. I used to go here every 2 weeks or so, and the service was good, the pizza tasty, and the prices affordable. But when I went today for the first time in over a month, it seemed like things were at an all time low. Their pos system was down, so we had to pay in cash. Then I went to fill up my drink, and there were no lids. Then I went to go wash my hands, and the bathroom had zero toilet paper, seat covers, or paper towels. Complete devoid of paper product. I had been wanting to try this place for a while. I finally went in July and ordered everything pictured on the front of the menu. It was all amazing! Yes, it's a pizza place, but with a Mediterranean flair. Ervin, the chef/owner, was there and explained to me that they make the bread and the dough fresh every day. We had two pizzas, the Mediterranean salad, the Spinach Burek, and the Cevapi sandwich. We had the Baklava and the Rice Pudding for desert. As I mentioned, it was all good. But I have to say that my favorite thing that I am still thinking about and recommending to my friends (or anyone that will listen to me) is the Cevapi sandwich. It's a simple sandwich with house made sausage, white onions on an incredible bun and served with two sauces. When I first saw the bun, I thought it would have the consistency of ciabatta bread. I was pleasantly surprised by the lightness and delicacy of the bun. It really complimented the sausage and I seriously went to bed thinking about that sandwich and woke up thinking about it. I'm still new to Fountain Valley so this was the first pizza place I've tried. The pizza in general was pretty good. Nothing special, just your "run of the mill" pie. I also got an order of wings to try those out and I wasn't overly impressed. Seemed kinda like store bought frozen wings with generic buffalo sauce on them. Wouldn't order wings again. The pizza I would get again unless I find somewhere else that blows me away. The service was alright, I would rate them a 7/10. They were humorous and friendly with me but it seemed to take a little longer them I am accustomed to and I was the only person in there. Food took about 20 minutes and I was the only order they were working on. I know pizza should only take about 7-8 minutes to make start to finish, same with the wings. But I won't knock them too much on that. Its just a good place for pizza but I am sure there are better places out there. read more

I am a pizza loving Italian man who has tried every pizza place from little caesars to papa johns both cheap and expensive however ROCCO"S PIZZA will ALWAYS be my FAVORITE!!!! My favorite pizza is the BBQ Chicken and the one from Rocco's is worth killing for. They have a 18" cheese pizza for only $13 which you can add toppings to for only a buck! They also make AWESOME sandwiches, the two I love most are the crispy chicken ranch and the BBQ Chicken sandwich. When Rocco's first opened I ate there every day for 2 WEEKS! The price is more than little caesars but still less than papa johns and is better than both combined. Having been to Croatia 2 years ago with my gf, I been looking for some good Mediterranean food. I found this lil gem and we had to try it. We loved the ćhevapi! So good. The bread wasn't too heavy and really tasty. We ordered the meat burrec but they didn't have any ready. We waited for it. Worth the wait. I told a Croatian friend of mine and he's already been there numerous times. Thanks me for telling him about it every time. We just went again. Lol read more

On the way to CVS pick up some medicine and looking for food in the same time. We notice there a pizza place, so we give it a try. They had a special #3 had mini 2 topping pizza like a personal side + salad + a small drink for about $7.00+tax. It take about 12 mins, and Ya they had Pepsi instead, thank god..did you know coke taste more sweet then Pepsi then before. However, since I was waiting and have a little chat with the girl at the cashier. And find out that it was a family owned restaurant. The father and the daughter are very nice, even her bf are very nice. Anyway, got the pizza and it was extreme hot. I got a pepperoni with extra sauce, OMG it was soooo good. Great crust, cheeeesey, and the extra sauce was so yummy. You really have to try with extra sauce!! That is a Pizza place I'll go back again. I didn't give 5 stars cos I only try it once.
