Previous Moves: My first two moves with your company cost between $250 and $350 each. The most recent quoted move was significantly higher at a flat $500, with an additional $180 charged in 30-minute increments (rounded up) for any time over the agreed period via the Groupon deal. During the most recent interaction, I was charged unexpected extra fees. When I questioned them, the representative hung up on me. I called back to request assistance in recovering funds through Groupon. The representative again stated that Groupon is a third party and not their problem, then hung up on me a second time. Email from Lisa (for reference): "Thank you for sending this over. We have 6/12 arrival 630-7am. For the Groupon we will need the Groupon redemption code and I can send over our contract and payment link for the trip fee $100 + $40 mileage fee and $90 moving supplies that are required to properly protect and handle your belongings (stretch wrap, mattress bags and tape). On the day of service any additional hours are $180 prorated in 30 minute increments rounded up. Please let me know if you have any questions Thank you Lisa" You may verify yourself whether these additional charges are clearly disclosed in the original Groupon description. Edit after laughable response from owner: I have receipts from th bank showing I received a full refund. No need to lie. Service Issues: * First Move: The crew initially performed a walkthrough and appeared professional. However, after the move was completed, they had forgotten one of my televisions. Despite pointing it out, they offered no solution and simply left. I was forced to arrange separate transportation for the large TV myself. While the crew was polite, the lack of accountability after a walkthrough was unacceptable. * Second Move (No-Show): The movers failed to show up entirely. I filed a dispute with my credit card, which resulted in a full refund. Credit Card Refund Confirmation: "We are writing to inform you that a refund has been initiated in connection with your recent transaction with Soft Touch Moving. After reviewing your dispute and the details provided, we have processed a reversal of the applicable charge. The credited amount will be returned to your account ending in **** within 3-5 business days, depending on your financial institution's posting times. I let them know that I wasn't aware of this and that I would probably not use them again after this move. After no way to get a hold of anyone, we had to move ourselves. This company put us in a real pickle. Although I told the owner I would not post a bad review I've changed my mind. This company is awful. I used them twice to move in out of storage. Every single piece of my wood furniture is scratched and damaged. No response for 3 weeks of emails and phone calls. Took absolutely no responsibility for any damage but offered a $50 refund. But now it's been 12 days and no refund, no response to another email. I had sheets and towels available for the movers to use but they didn't use them. I did my best to cover things as they went into storage but I was clearly in the way and asked to stay clear. "They have a process." Rude, unfriendly and lacks any form of proper customer service. Do not bother attempting to get general information as they are reluctant to provide. They do not want or like to answer simple basic questions pertaining to the use their services and are adamant on attempting to obtain your personal NPI. I had informed the lady initially I had a couple quick questions & would call back when I had more time to discuss any specific related items but this wasn't good enough for the representative as she was stuck on wanting NPI rather than trying to help with some basic questions. As a result of her inability to deal with an inquiring customer and attempt to assist, the representative preferred to turn business away and did not attempt to help at all. She was extremely rude and was only focusing on her poor agenda rather than the simple matter at hand to assist and potentially gain new business. Rather, she chose to disconnect a call she did not want to handle. Company should really evaluate their business model or lack there of as this is a great way to lose business rather than gain it. I will not be dealing with this company as a result as I will only pay to support businesses that are trustworthy and customer service oriented. I want to start by saying that the movers who actually arrived to move were awesome and friendly. Unfortunately, the owner was insanely unprofessional and rude. Please watch the video, there is no exaggerating how terrible this guy is. We weren't able to capture the whole conversation but he does say that he records all the phone calls and I really do encourage him to post the rest. Based on how he replies to other bad reviews I think he might lie and say he isn't the owner or that we weren't ready in a reasonable time for our estimate. -The time stamp on my phone in the video & picture during our phone call shows that they were trying to come way earlier than our scheduled time. -If you're not the owner, you wouldn't complain about lost time paying employees. On the morning of our move, we received a call from the moving team telling us their first job had been canceled and asking if they could come by earlier to start our move. We explained that we were grabbing the keys to our new place so that wouldn't work for us and that our scheduled time would still be best. About 5-10 minutes later we got a call from "Steve" saying that the movers would arrive in 10 minutes and that we needed to be ready. Assuming there was a miscommunication, we explained that we had emails with them confirming that our move time was scheduled for 12-4. He then tries to lie and say that no job had been canceled and that his movers were so good that they got done with the first job early. After this part of the conversation goes nowhere, he threatens us that our move will be canceled because there are no extra time slots. When we ask how that could be possible if we were scheduled for 12-4, he doubles back (probably because he didn't think his lie through well enough) and says it's an estimated arrival time. No reasonable person would believe that an estimate would mean over 3 hours before the estimate. Used this company to move in June. I had asked for my furniture to be wrapped, specifically my white fabric couch. Upon arrival, they brought my couch in, not wrapped. It was filthy and worn on corners from them trying to get it into my apartment. It has now been 4 months trying to get ahold of a manager to see if there was a solution. They are now ignoring me after saying they would partially reimburse my couch cleaning service I got done (used Coit a month after moving since I wasn't hearing back from them). Looking for an AZ mover to move locally, approximately 34 miles. Soft Touch came up in a local blog I follow with decent ratings. We gave them a call to arrange a meeting to do a cost estimate. Everything was good: set up a meeting with Scott and Lisa (owners) on a Tuesday. Very nice personable couple, they arrived on time, went through the entire house of what to be moved, spent 2 hours. All the pieces that they would be moving were large and needed the tradition wrapping and tapping and in addition, accounting for a few boxes in each room for the estimate. We stressed the urgency of timing, we would like to move in the later half of the following week, in which Lisa stated that the end of the following week would work perfectly. We received the estimate that evening, the cost was reasonable and we were already set to make the deal. We called Wednesday morning to set the date. paperwork and any deposit that was needed and were told by Rachel they were on vacation and wouldn't be back till Friday. We requested a phone call ASAP to let them know they got the job and to set everything in stone. NO phone call response back Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, NOTHING. Really? You are a small business owner with very non professional business practice (you seemingly can afford) Lisa and Scott should have had the courtesy to tell us they were leaving for vacation, knowing our urgency to set up the move. I would also think that you would of wanted the job especially when we were fine with the estimate. Finally, no phone call back AT ALL! You wasted 2 hours of our time, quite frankly. This is one of the worst moving companies out there. My boyfriend scheduled a move and not only did they not show up, but my very frustrated boyfriend called the office and the lady on the phone (we didn't get her name) got into an argument with my boyfriend and was yelling and acting crazy (extremely unprofessional!). Yes, they replied on google, how sweet, I read about the people assaulted by them, I don't want get hurt or anything. I am done with it. Have you ever heard a mover said if you forget to tell them you have a grill, they won't move for you? Or They will leave your other items behind because they took your grill? Yes we had extra kid toys, but we helped to load up and down a lot of things, we did work. Have you ever heard one of the movers saying do not look at me, you are slow me down? Then we left the room, the table completely damaged, and refused to put up for us because it took time. I just wonder how can they do that. It is only 12 mins drive, took them half hour to wrap the desk, then drop it on the floor, and got damaged? All he said is we don't cover. Have you ever hanged up by a mad lady twice? Try them. They arrived at 11:45AM, then complained too hot to work, was it my fault? We did not have lunch until four. Waited whole morning. Three years ago I used them. Last work was finished in 2 hours including 30 mins drive. They were using a tiny truck with a trailer. But this time we did not have too many add ons and only 12 mins drive, took 4 hours, why? And a super big truck won't fit in. Why? They are slow, unprofessional, rude, and expensive. 125 dollars to get to your home, 10 dollars charged even they used our wrapping supplies. 150 dollars for additional 1 mins -60 mins. And in additional time, only one worked for us. The other one stood on the trunk let us carry items. Or fold his pad slowly or took phone calls. We did everything we can to cooperate, when they arrived they said we did perfect work packaging. And me and husband helped to carry items. We even prepared iced water for them. At the end, one yelling that's it all the time. We gave up and wanted to rent a U haul to take left overs, she gave us hope, then broke her words. If she did not say that, I won't be so upset. Then I gave her an offer to fix it. Never get back. See the offer I gave, how hard for them finish the work in the 20 mins we paid? I am hopeless, I can do nothing except reviewing. I recently used this company for a move. I saw them on Groupon and then contacted the company directly so they wouldn't lose any of the fees associated. I wanted to buy a two hour package, but the sales person encouraged me to do a three hour package stating that I would be refunded for any unused time. I pre-paid all services and associated fees (travel etc). On the day of the move, they arrived without all of the requested materials, and a very inexperienced staff. We had to help move out items form the home to the truck- at both locations- because it was painfully obvious that it was first day on the job for the teen teen worker. I did purchase some extra materials(2 mattress bags) , and for the price of a positive review, I received my $20 back. However, after speaking with the company about the refund and the forced positive review, I realized I had been duped. the mover was very upset when I only gave four stars instead of five for forgotten materials and damage to my doorstep from not putting down door, ramps, and said he didn't want his name associated with it all. Sorry, R! Didn't mean to offend you at all I think you did a great job. It was your helper who wasn't so great and the salesperson giving incorrect information about pricing that led to the less than 5 star review on google that day. I have never been more disappointed with the quality of a move than with Soft Touch Moving. With my husband and I both in medicine, we have relocated over six times at least. The movers themselves were very nice, however the quality was appalling. They disassembled one of my beds and somehow managed to lose a piece of the bed frame. They also managed to damage all of the furniture notated below. They also moved a fridge into my pantry and made two holes on my brand new hardwood floors. When I discussed the missing furniture with their manager their response was sorry we don't have it. They didn't even care to comment on all the damage to our furniture. The packing of items from the home I was moving from went very smoothly. The movers (5) were courteous and kept masks on the entire time as requested. However, moving into the new home was very frustrating. I had the movers place all of our items in the living area as we were having carpet replaced the next day. After the movers left is when I noticed a lot of damage to my property. During the move I witnessed one of the movers drop multiple boxes off of a dolly. Luckily nothing in the boxes were broken or damaged. The first thing I noticed was the entry (front) door. There were multiple dings and damage done to the painted frame. The next thing I found was damage to the stucco and an indention was made on the home's exterior. Also, once I started moving the furniture into the rooms from the living area, I found multiple dents and cuts to the interior walls and multiple scratches on interior paint. The movers also lost hardware to various items of furniture. I contacted Soft Touch and left a message. I did not receive a phone call back, so I sent an email. I received a response via email and was told they agreed to fix the exterior walls and door frame. I called and left a message and Lisa called me back. She stated they agreed to repair the damages on the exterior of the home. I explained that there was damage also to the interior of the home and she stated that if I moved any of the furniture that I was now obligated to repair the interior walls. I advised her that it would be impossible for me to know that there was any damage to the interior of the home without moving furniture. She stated that I was still liable for those damages. We agreed that at least the outside needed to be repaired and on July 29th, Lisa sent me an email confirming that they would repair my property damage to the exterior of the home. As of 8/10/20 I have not heard back from Lisa or anyone from Soft Touch movers. I left a message on August 7th and another message today August 10th. I would not recommend this company at all nor would I ever use them again. The charges were not what I was told on the day of the move but about $200 more, and the customer service has not been up to par. ** I have numerous emails of the owner Lisa stating she would repair the issues. I did file a lawsuit in Small Claims court in the North Valley Court. After numerous chances to resolve the issue, the court approved the claim against Soft Touch Moving LLC. You can do a court search and see that not only did they fail to appear, they have also never responded and I received the judgement by default. The glass couldn't be repaired due to the nature of the desk, but the whole desk was only $150 so I asked them to pay the $150 to replace it. I don't think that's unreasonable. At which point she pointed me towards the contract where it says she can pay 60 cents per pound. In this case it would be only $18 or so because it's not a heavy desk. To me it felt like they were cheaping out and screwing me with a technicality in the contract. Yes, contract says 60 cents per pound (the legally required minimum). But I think most quality businesses make things right when they mess up. It was clear negligence on their part and they should make it right for such a small dollar amount. Just showed they don't care about customer after the job is paid for. Still waiting for a call back from the owner, Scott. I doubt I'll get one, but if he calls back and makes this right then I'll remove or revise this review. The main issue is Lisa's rudeness and lack of willingness to take care of a customer when they mess up. I really hope the owner has a different view on how to right a wrong. UPDATE: interesting how Scott classifies me visiting their office as "harassing" their staff. I simply wanted to explain my point of view and see if they can help in any way. I was nothing but professional during my visit to their office, until Lisa told me not to be a cheap ass, then I was less professional. Also, you keep saying I "refused" replacement glass, which is misleading. Due to the nature of the glass, it is not possible to just replace it. I would've loved to have it replaced, but it's not able to be replicated, which I explained to Lisa several times. She must've conveniently left that part out. If you're sticking to the 0.60 a lb ($18), then it's not even worth my time. I don't want to take such a small amount of money for you guys breaking a $150 desk. The owner Lisa is rude and we got screwed over!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND! We used the Groupon and still paid $430 for 3 & a half hours. An hour of that was their movers who got lost, but we got charged for it. They broke a leg of our dining table as well just terrible! read more
