Our family chose to go to Sogo on a Thursday night for their BOGO 1/2 off sushi special. We ordered a shrimp tempura roll and one of the specialty rolls that also had shrimp tempura in it. In order to get the BOGO sushi special, you had to order a soup or drink. Doesn't seem like a great deal to me since the cost of the drink or soup basically pays for the other half of the roll. I asked the server if we could order a kids hibachi chicken instead and she was able to do that. The sushi came out quickly and tasted great. Their hibachi was also good, not the best I have had but tasty. For the total price, I do not feel the need to go back any time soon. However the service, food, and location were all good.

Bought hibachi steak to go, when we got home and sit down to eat, there was only nine half bites of steak! Called the restaurant to let them know my complaint, I was told not to eat it and bring it back, and that would be fine if I did not live twenty minutes away! She said someone would call me back but they never did! I am assuming that my business and complaint does not matter to them! I would recommend always checking your food before leaving their restaurant!

This place has gone down in every category but the price. No more tall Sapporo's. Half price sushi has become buy one get one half off. Sushi wasn't fresh. Had to hunt down waitress every time we needed her. At a time they should be stepping up their game, they are falling behind. Roll and bowl is coming Sogo.

Spicy tuna roll, Philly roll, and a Blue Moon ale. Yummy

Didn't know what to expect when looking at the reviews, but honestly I quite enjoyed it. They don't have too large a variety but that's not really a bad thing as what they do have is pretty good. I and another got sushi and it was good, the two others got hibachi plates and they enjoyed it as well. Prices are also decent. And last but not least, the service was amazing. Our server was very nice and quite funny. All in all an alright place to eat.

    hardly anything other than rice

I'm local and have been coming here for years! it used to be really great honestly. however lately in the past two months or so, the quality of food has gone down tremendously. the plum wine was great! everything else was very disappointing. if you want sushi go to roll and bowl lol

a meal in a styrofoam container

Ordered take out last night and ordered 5 meals. they had smushed 5 boxes into one bag. The heat and the weight from the boxes caused them to all collapse and the food spilled into the bag. We called back and they immediately replaced the order but we went to pick it up and they only had 4 of the 5 meals and each meal was missing noodles or rice. The manager walked over to the poor host working hard to fix everything and helped him fix the problem. The host and manager were very sweet and apologetic about the situation so great business management on their part. However, the 4 boxes were still smushed into one bag and the 5th in its own but they did double box the bottom boxes. I also ended up getting food poisoning (hibachi chicken) so that was extremely disappointing

My wife and I had each visited Japanese steakhouses like this before we met, but somehow neither of us had been to one during our 18 years together. Then we discovered Noboru! We enjoyed our first visit so much that we returned just two weeks later. It isn't overly fancy--it offers the classic Benihana-style experience, with the chef preparing everything directly in front of you--but the food is tender, flavorful, and filling. Of course, you also get dinner and a show! The service was spot-on during both visits. We were always well taken care of, and everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I ordered the larger filet dinner both times and didn't change a thing. When something is that good, why mess with it? My wife ordered the steak and shrimp during our first visit, but she enjoyed my filet so much that she upgraded to the filet and shrimp on our return. Quality cuts of meat, skillful preparation, excellent seasoning, friendly service, and an entertaining experience have made Noboru a new favorite in our restaurant rotation. We thoroughly enjoyed both visits, had no complaints whatsoever, and will absolutely be back very soon. To those about to nosh, we are jealous!

Looking for fast and friendly service? Say no more. Hibachi pit is the perfect lunch spot for when you want to grab a quick bite with huge portions. You can customize your meal making it as healthy or unhealthy as you want it to be. I ordered the rice bowl with crispy chicken and the sweet and spicy sauce. The sauces all come on the side in a small cup, but you can ask for more. There was so much chicken in my bowl, and plenty of rice and veggies to go along with it. The chicken was on par with most fast casual places. I did need to use lots of sauce though to get more flavor out of the bowl. It's nothing that will blow your mind, but it's a good staple to have in your lunch rotation! The price is really fair too, you get what you pay for.

We were crowded around the entrance for a while without much direction until I checked in; they have a policy of not seating until the entire party arrives (6 of us were there, awaiting 2). Once the full group was present, though, we were seated promptly. Our server was excellent--very polite and on top of things. Even when two of our orders came out wrong, the server corrected the mistakes so quickly it didn't disrupt the meal at all. The food quality is definitely where this place shines: * Portion Sizes: Massive. As you can see from the photos, the trays are packed to the edges with rice, noodles, and protein. * Quality: The steak was tender and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. You can tell they care about the quality of their meat. * Affiliation: Knowing they are connected to The Smoke Pit gave us high expectations for the proteins, and they lived up to the name. While it might not be the absolute best hibachi I've ever had, the combination of great service, huge portions, and solid food quality makes it an easy recommendation. It's a great spot for a group--just make sure your whole party arrives at the same time!

The staff isn't overly welcoming or anything but the food makes up for it. I ordered The Playboy roll, and although it wasn't the best roll I ever had, it wasn't bad at all and it was huge! This was a fried roll and I do mean fried. Even the rice was deep fried, perfect for The South. I also ordered the Shrimp Tempura but they brought me Bang Bang shrimp by mistake. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to be that person, but it was super good! I ate it all. Definitely try that. The place is a little pricey. The roll was $15 and the shrimp is $11. Not terrible but you can get all you can eat sushi in Charlotte at nicer places for under $30, so I thought it was a bit much for a sushi spot in Albemarle, NC. Overall it's pretty good!

When I called to report the issue, I was told that our waitress had mistakenly charged me for another table's bill but that the charge had been voided and should correct itself. I monitored my account daily, but the refund never appeared. When I called back, the manager, Tabitha, reviewed the transactions and explained that while the waitress had processed a refund, she had issued it as cash rather than returning it to my card. By her own admission, it looked as though the waitress had refunded the money to herself. I was assured the matter would be resolved once the owner/bookkeeper returned from vacation and that I would be contacted. A week later, after still hearing nothing, I called again and was told by Tabitha that she was surprised the owner had not reached out, since they had my contact information. At this point, I have disputed the charge with my bank and contacted local authorities about what appears to be a fraudulent transaction. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Beyond the risk of fraudulent charges and mishandling of customer information, the food itself was mediocre at best. What should have been a $30 meal turned into a $96.03 headache--not worth the risk. If I could give zero stars I would.
