This place is a great vibe! They have a pretty extensive menu, with lots of noodle, rice, curry, and soup options. The portions are pretty decent, especially if you go for the noodles. I enjoyed the curry too, but I've had better. The restaurant is pretty casual, so I think a lot of people do take out, but you can certainly dine in as well. I'd recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice. The wait staff came out and checked on us frequently, which doesn't always happen when you go for the outdoor option. Solid spot overall!

Came across this spot from Yelp & decided to try it for dinner (dine in). Their service is so good. The food came out so quickly for a party of 3. We had ordered: Crying Tiger, Tom Kha & Pineapple Fried Rice It hit the spot! They definitely don't skimp out on the protein & veggies & prices were fair. They have a few tables inside for dine in. Parking is all street parking.

Tasty and Affordable and with reasonable ambiance around this area. Just little confuse ordering from dining.

There's a parking lot! No, it's not in the laundry place lol

Teeny tiny place in OB, I haven't been here in a few years. We were in the area so I thought we'd pick up something for dinner. I couldn't recall not liking it... it's been that long. We ordered the following items - Fried pork belly appetizer- this was almost inedible. It was overcooked and very chewy. We didn't finish this. - Pad Thai with chicken - I usually like pad Thai, but the noodles were very gummy. It was not pleasant trying to eat this. - Thai basil fried rice with chicken - simple, nothing crazy, it was very plain tasting. The chicken throughout the dishes were very dry and overcooked. - Thai tea - I like this, but that was it. Sadly I didn't recall my previous experience eating here before our last visit and save myself a bad meal. :( Not going to forget this time! Staff was nice tho. Maybe the kitchen was having an off night. Maybe I'll try again in a few years. 2025: 18

    Yellow Curry

I ordered the value yellow curry meal. The vegetable rolls were ice cold on the inside the first time they were served to me. The carrots and potatoes in the curry were not cooked they were rock hard. I'm guessing the raw vegetables were added at the last minute. I'm glad I got the value portion because I was disappointed. The server was nice

This little hole-in-the-wall wasn't even on my radar until I found it on Yelp. Quite tasty! The woman at the counter who greeted us was very friendly and happy to make suggestions. She was also cute, she offered me a little chopstick napkin apparatus that would make it easier for me to eat with chopsticks, but I don't need that. I still appreciated the gesture! We got the papaya salad, Mango Curry and Khao Soi Soup. Everything was delicious, although I found the mango curry to be a little on the watery side. My favorite item was the Khao Soi soup. It was full of veggies and I liked the contrast of texture between the noodles in the soup and the crunchy noodles on top of the soup. We went for the mock duck because I thought it would be easier to eat that than a chicken leg in the soup. I also really enjoyed the papaya salad and thought it was a fun bonus that it came with two juicy shrimp.

Neon green curry? What the heck is that? I never had green curry dyed the chicken meat like that? On top of that they gave me maybe 3 pieces of chicken for $17.. never again. Stick to zab Linda if you want authentic Thai.

Pretty solid Thai that is friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter and pay right away and your order would be delivered to you to your table. Menu was pretty mainstream Thai with few addition of street food. Prices were very reasonable and the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. I ordered green curry with beef, it was good and will come back to try the other things next time.

It's hard to drive past this place without having the urge to get some Pad Thai. Order at the register and they bring the food out to you. Relaxed, chill inside and outside seating.

Love this spot so much! It's got a warm, chill vibe, and the food slaps! We got the yellow curry with chicken on the lunch special and a side of egg rolls. The food came out so quickly and it was incredible. The curry was such a great flavor, and the eggrolls were fried to perfection. The service was great. Very warm, welcoming and attentive!!! We didn't get them this time, but 10/10 recommend the mango sticky rice and crab wontons.

First time and already a fan. The inside was super clean. The staff was very nice and polite. You place your order at the counter and grab a seat. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food came out quick and fast. The food was super flavorful and fresh. We got the panang curry with beef. Love the spicy no joke it's pretty spicy. We shared the Pad Kee Mao Roasted Pork, they definitely did not skimp on the roasted pork. Both the dishes we had were very tasty. Thank you Soi OB for a delicious first time. I can't wait to come back and try something else on the menu.

THAI FOOD FROM THAILAND...and Thai people (5 stars + meteor shower + SpaceX starlinks) Have you ever been to OB, Thailand? Me neither until recently. When the food is THAT good it makes you feel like you been teleported from OB to Bangkok/Chiangmai/Sakhon/Phuket/Krab on every single bite. Took me 7+ years to find my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego and it's in OB (not in Convoy area). Soi OB is next to a laundry mat in the heart of Ocean Beach. This place is the truth. It's also the sister to SoI 30 but the better sister. - FOOD: F-A-N.tastic - PRICE: affordable and fair - SERVICE: sweet owner - AMBIANCE: cute and simple humble shop :: FOOD:: Had to test run the food with the go-to's and was not disappointment! Cooked per order, fresh tasting, clean. I left feeling full but not heavy afterwards. BEEF JERKY ($12.95) - fried beef jerky served with their house tamarind hot sauce. I never had a bad beef jerky at a Thai resultant but their version has meatier stripes than others. Nearly the same flavor but the portion was very generous. It comes with a side of sticky rice and their house tamarind hot sauce... hot is an understanding! HIGHLY RECOMMEND PAD THAI ($14.95) - rice vermicelli noodles stir fried in tamarind sauce, with egg, bean sprouts, green onion, crushed peanuts, cilantro, and a wedge of lime. I ordered this with tofu because I wanted protein but I wanted a protein that didn't add flavor to the dish so I could throughly taste their execution. OK! This was one of the best Phad Thai's I've had in SD/SoCal. It was perfect! Portion to price, ratio of ingredients, and the balance of flavor. It didn't have that overkill tamarind sauce nor flavor or any taste of fish sauce. Every ingredient folded in so well and complimented each other. It was clean tasting - you'll know what I mean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Shame on me... I didn't leave room for dessert. That is very unlike me but will make up for it next time. :: SERVICE :: Order food, pay at the front, and seat yourself. The menu has some dishes I don't often see at other Thai restaurants. The owner and chef are from Thailand - everything about this place is authentic! The owner was so sweet and she ran the front and gave me tips since I couldn't make up my mind if I should try what I know or something new. There is a lady in the back doing all the cooking per order (if that be here orders or to-go orders). Small businesses have love and support. Show this place some love and tip generously. I'm about to be a regular and you know me I will eat the entire menu if I need to. I already know my next order and can't wait to come back. JABA APPROVED. Until the next bite.

You would think one could get the salad served in a regular bowl if eating there - nope, they only have the "to go" plastic containers, even though their website shows salads served in an ACTUAL BOWL. So, great, I get to waste plastic, between the "to go" bowl, plastic fork, plastic cup for water, and plastic small cup for dressing. Second, they don't have ice?! WTF? We would like to have our Diet Coke with a cup of ice but they just....don't have any ice. Ok..... Next, let's talk about price. $16 for a salad isn't cheap, but then another $6 just to add some cubes of chicken? Really? For $22 I could go to an actual restaurant and not eat at one of these "fast casual" places. Over and over again we the public are told to "eat and spend local", but this is exactly why these places are going under. For $22 I get attitude from the 19 year old working the register, get to drink out of a can, get tons of plastic to dispose of, and get to sit in a bland, white cinder block eating area which has a beautiful view of the CVS parking lot. Learned my lesson - next time I'll go to an actual sit-down restaurant that charges the same price and is a much better experience.

Situated myself on the street side table with two chairs and faced myself towards the crowds leaving the Farmer's Market. Starting with the food, the rice was probably one of the biggest issues for me. The texture just wasn't very good and didn't have the fresh, soft consistency I normally expect from a good poke bowl. Since rice is such a big part of the dish, it definitely brought the overall quality down. I also tried the kimchi ahi because it sounded really good, but it honestly didn't taste as good as I expected. It wasn't terrible, but I was expecting a lot more flavor. The spicy ahi, on the other hand, tasted great and was easily the best part of my meal. I also added the mac salad on top, and I'm not even exaggerating when I say it was basically just noodles . I was expecting an actual creamy, flavorful mac salad, but maybe they got my order wrong. Unfortunately, the customer service made the experience even worse. The cashier who helped me was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I attached a photo for context because the attitude was honestly noticeable throughout the entire interaction. I felt like I was being mean mugged like crazy just for ordering, and the whole interaction made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I understand everyone can have a bad day, and I don't expect employees to be overly cheerful, but basic friendliness and respectful customer service should still be expected. Between the weird rice texture, disappointing kimchi ahi, mac salad that was basically just noodles , and especially the poor customer service, I left pretty disappointed. The spicy ahi was genuinely really good, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the experience.

And if you've never tried a sour beer and no one likes it, there are no returns. You pay your money and you take your chances. They are creative at The Joint. I mean an eel roll with macadamia nuts is a brilliant twist on sushi. The second thing we try is their soft shell crab roll. Delicious. Everyone at the table 'seconds' these comments. I ask someone on the way in, seated at a table eating sushi if it is good. He says: "I'll let you know". Later, he comes back to our table to let me yes! It's really good". So is this a good place to go for Sushi? The answer is yes. Is it a little confusing as an asian fusion place to have so many diverse choices? The answer is yes, but I also admit I do like all the options. Again, they call their Happy Hour food 'Tapas'. Is that Spanish, or is it just me? Japanese fried chicken or an arugula salad or oysters? lol Your taste buds must travel all over the place and that's hard on the palate and my headspace of 'what am I eating'? Is it overpriced? The answer is yes! And if I'm being honest, it surprises me that no one else on yelp is mentioning this. If money is not an issue and you want good sushi, our group recommends trying The Joint. Just don't count on happy hour having happy prices. $4 for an oyster is not happy! It's regular priced. Maybe even over priced for a happy hour menu where oysters come in at $1 and $2 for happy hour. And today, they are all out of oysters. lol We usually just tell you what to order when you go to a restaurant. This is the first time we have felt the need to let you know what you're in for, price wise. Sorry to the wonderful staff and great chef. No idea why they need to represent themselves as 'happy hour noon - 6pm every day', leading me to believe there is good pricing. But it's not my zoo, not my monkeys. Everything is raw, thoughtfully prepared, and you can truly taste the quality of the ingredients. The chef is hands-down amazing and somehow manages to turn healthy food into works of art. I ordered the buffalo wrap, which came with kale chips on the side. It definitely has a kick to it, but it's balanced by an entire rainbow of vegetables packed into the wrap. Every bite feels nourishing, full of vibrant ingredients that feed your body with different vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. I also ventured out and tried the freeze-dried durian. The texture immediately reminded me of a Lucky Charms marshmallow, although it's much less sweet. The flavor is incredibly difficult to describe--mild and subtle at first, with a fleeting savory note that quickly transforms into something almost tropical, like guava crossed with a nutty vanilla cream. It's unique, delicate, and unlike anything I've tasted before. For dessert, I sampled the Butterfinger and Twix. The Butterfinger filling has a green hue, which might surprise you at first, but don't let that fool you. The chef has somehow recreated the classic Butterfinger flavor in a raw, healthy version. It's not quite as sweet or crunchy as the original, but the flavor and texture are remarkably close and absolutely delicious, this is definitely a must try! The Twix was my personal favorite. The layers of caramel, cookie crunch, and chocolate come together perfectly. The balance of flavors is simply incredible. I've tried several items from Peace Pies over the years, and this place has never disappointed. The menu is creative, fun, and proof that healthy, raw, gluten-free food can be absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! Once in a while the workers are busy working in the back, prepping food and creating recipes- so you may have to get their attention... If they hear you come in, you're greeted immediately with helpful guidance to the menu. I came on prior occasions with my best friend who has many allergies and is of dark melanin- I state this because of a prior ill review regarding preferential treatment based on skin color. That has not been our experience. And I hope that review doesn't deter anyone from trying out this place.
