The Service was great, the salads delicious, Best in OB, The Summer Breeze with a Salad Mix, Kale, Spinach, Tasty Roasted Chicken Breast, Feta Cheese, Avocado, Strawberries, Cucumber, Fresh Mint, Quinoa, Sunflower Seeds mixed in. Some customers are always concerned about value vs. price, and, in this instance, the small Summer Breeze salad I had was "actually huge" and, their Top End Salad!! So for a high-end incredible salad under 17$ it is well worth it. I advise everyone in Ocean Beach to come here and enjoy their incredible salads! This is a review for the Ocean Beach location. Let's start with the positives first : the salad was pretty good. Now - let's get to the negatives - of which there are many. You would think one could get the salad served in a regular bowl if eating there - nope, they only have the "to go" plastic containers, even though their website shows salads served in an ACTUAL BOWL. So, great, I get to waste plastic, between the "to go" bowl, plastic fork, plastic cup for water, and plastic small cup for dressing. Second, they don't have ice?! WTF? We would like to have our Diet Coke with a cup of ice but they just....don't have any ice. Ok..... Next, let's talk about price. $16 for a salad isn't cheap, but then another $6 just to add some cubes of chicken? Really? For $22 I could go to an actual restaurant and not eat at one of these "fast casual" places. Over and over again we the public are told to "eat and spend local", but this is exactly why these places are going under. For $22 I get attitude from the 19 year old working the register, get to drink out of a can, get tons of plastic to dispose of, and get to sit in a bland, white cinder block eating area which has a beautiful view of the CVS parking lot. Learned my lesson - next time I'll go to an actual sit-down restaurant that charges the same price and is a much better experience. read more

The moment I saw a sign saying that Mary's was coming to our neighborhood, I wanted them to hurry up! Haha. I used to live in La Jolla and loved the Mary's there too. We need more healthy options around here, so Mary's was a welcome addition. The salads are big (a large feeds 2 of us) , fresh, and delicious. My favorites are the summer breeze and the harvest Cobb. It at least is clearly labeled for gluten free for celiac. $18 for a salad with no protein, without a tip if you want to tip 10-15% for the people making your food. I got the superfood and my salad barely had any sweet potatoes, barely any tomatoes, barely any purple slaw, and no goji berries. Was so excited to finally have a salad option in Ob. Unfortunately the salad was subpar at best. The ingredient and dressings listed on the harvest Cobb was different than what we actually received. We have been there multiple times & love the food. But today when we arrived you no longer have tables outside. You have the bar with the stools where you face the street and the sun shining on you. So as we had the dog we asked could we sit inside as don't want to sit in the sun and we're told no the bar outside. WHY are the tables gone?? So basically if you don't put your tables back outside to sit at we will no longer come to eat as don't want to sit in the sun on bar stools facing the street. Today I split the harvest cob salad with my friend and it was delicious. We also got one bowl of soup each and we enjoyed that too. I like the egg and the avocado with bits of yams or was it sweet potato? The presentation of the ceramic bowls is quite nice and the location is nice cause you can look up at the street. There is nothing better than Mary's Salads. I have been a fan of this place since their original location in La Jolla and now they are finally open in Ocean Beach! The ingredients are top notch and freshness is their top priority here. I always leave here feeling satisfied and well serviced.
