Tried this place after seeing it while going to Albertsons. Now granted there are a million other Mexican restaurants to choose from. After walking in, I was greeting with a smile by a nice young lady behind the counter. I asked what was her best suggestion and now I'm hooked?! El Pollo Especial has to be the best thing on the menu! It's all I eat every time that I go now. That was almost a month ago and I eat here several times a week. Love this place! I've had nothing here I didn't like, there was one time I ordered shredded beef tacos but accidentally got shredded chicken. It was still really good so I didn't even mind! The service is great, the horchata is unique but a must try! If you like salsa verde theirs is my favorite, it's so good! Food was fantastic and full of robust flavor profiles as it should be when it comes to the bold spices expected of Mexican food. The food was great! I got the enchiladas meal! The only thing that bothered me was they ask for a tip at the counter when you order. Guess I'm old school, but tips should be for good service, so not a fan of tipping for my meal prior to the service provided. Came for the first time to check it out. Pleasantly surprised. Not a traditional sit down, but more of a fast food sit down restaurant. My wife ordered a quesadilla and I got a vegan burro ( beans and grilled veggies). Big portions, very tasty, but the salsa bar was the best. Five salsa choices and all were very good. Several of our guests commented on the quality and freshness of the food. We had three different meat options, all of which were phenomenal. The options include everything you will need, including rice, beans, and salsa combinations. They even provided serving utensils. Came here for lunch the other day, was served promptly, and the food was very good (and fresh). I ordered taquitos, and my husband ordered a carne asada street taco, along with a bean and cheese burrito. Delicious. The only thing I didn't care for was the Strawberry Agua Fresca. We were visiting Arizona for a day, and being a Californian stuck in the Midwest for a long time, Mexican food was a must. This is a very nice little place within a shopping center. The lady at the cashier was very nice and helpful explaining which items are customer favorites and anything we weren't familiar with. I was with my boyfriend and a couple other friends, who ordered the horchata of the day (they make it themselves so that's one plus), which was the regular kind without any extra flavors in it. I'm not an expert of the drink, but the large amount of cinnamon and spices in the batch they made that day was excellent to them. I got the strawberry lime juice, which I thought was really good and not overwhelmingly minty. We got a couple tacos, the ceviche, and the molcajetito. Although the description on Yelp says $, I believed I would get a little more food for the price. At least in California you'd still get a ton of food for the cheap prices, so I expected here would be the same. The ceviche was interesting with the mango, but it was very good overall. My friends got the tacos and said that they were good! My boyfriend and I shared the molcajetito, which was nice in that it has various meats. They only gave 4 really small corn tortillas, which didn't make sense with the amount of food given, even if one person was eating it. Really liked the variety of salsas for those who have different tastes. Overall, the flavors are there and I definitely recommend going here! Just be aware that chips are not included. They do a wonderful job putting good care into their food and making sure it tastes great. read more

Excellent fish tacos. We stop by for taco Tuesday and we were not disappointed. The grilled fish tacos were very good. They were not breaded. The piece of fish was very large for this size taco. There was cabbage and a large piece of avocado on top you have a choice from the salsa bar of the kind of salsa do you want to put on the taco the fish was moist and tender and I would come here again. read more
