This is one of those times a half star would really come in handy. Veronica's isn't quite a 4 star, but better than three. Let's start with the hits. The restaurant is spotless. Clean tables. Clean menus. We were promptly greeted, brought to our table and served chips & salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was well above average. Veronica's has an extensive menu. And I was pleased to see their lunch specials run Monday through Saturday. My wife ordered Vero's Special. Essentially, grilled chicken breast served on rice and smothered with nacho cheese. No veggies of any kind. She couldn't eat it. Too salty. And "rich". From other 4 & 5 star reviews, I suspect if my wife had ordered something else, we'd be posting a 4 star, too. I went with lunch fajitas. The dish was fine, not exceptionally greasy. But the sides were limited to refried beans and rice. No guacamole. No jalapeños. Oh, and no black, borracho, or pinto beans. You can have any kind of beans as long as they're refried. But the real damper for us was the loud music blasting through the ceiling speakers. I love melodic tejano music. But tejano rap? Not so much. Unfortunately, it was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves think. Veronica's needs to find a better Sirius/XM channel.

I have visited the location on poplar level road but the first time at the prospect location. the decor was nice and colorful. I got the mixed combo fajitas. it consisted of steak, chicken, and shrimp. it was delicious. they ordered the burria platter. it comes with marinated burria meat and served in different shapes. I wish the chips were thinner like chuys. their salsa was very good. our waitress Stephanie was excellent!!! I would return. good food. their queso was good as well.

Shrimp birria two and birria egg roll.

This was the first time at the Prospect location and I will be back. I came in at 9 and even with the restaurant closing in an hour, service was fast, accurate and food was fresh. My server Maye C was so attentive to my needs, helpful with menu selection and a very nice welcoming young lady. I had the swirl soft serve Margarita. It was strong and a satisfying amount for the price. I love that it is dairy free! The food came out quick and hot, tasted good, and I was out within an hour. I'm looking forward to more great things to come out of this location.

Food is different than other locals and very good. Inside decor is Mexican. Service was prompt. Salsa is great.

The food was good and the drinks were really neat. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because the service was on the slower side.

The upbeat festive music is quite loud and made it difficult to hear our server. She seemed a bit frustrated with us when we had to request she repeat herself. We also felt rushed during our visit -- halfway through the appetizer course when our entrees were dropped off and then asked midway through entree course if we wanted dessert and To Go boxes. Our entire visit was less than 45 minutes. We started with a combination appetizer, which was a nice variety of items. Entree selections were crab chimichanga dinner, three piggies fajita dinner, and a combination meal. All 3 of us were complimentary of the food. Food is delicious, seasoned well, and piping hot. Menu is extensive with lovely presentation. Restaurant is lovely, modern, and comfortable seating. Property has ample free parking and easy accessibility. Service is efficient and extremely fast. Paid with a gift card and credit card, but realized later when checking receipt the GC was not credited. Ah well, my fault for not checking at the time during processing, but sharing to say to request 2-step process with gift credit to be applied first and then to pay the revised balance due. Will likely return for the phenomenal lunch deals when in the area -- ample selection and terrific value. Great takeout option for quick delicious meals. Overall, friendly staff working as a team to assist table side.

It was all very good. I especially liked the sauce that came on with the rice. The setting was very festive with a buzz throughout the restaurant as they were very busy. Even though they were busy, they did a great job getting the food out to all the tables. Our's didn't take long at all. Our waiter checked on us multiple times. We will be back.

I wish I could join the chorus of 4 and 5 star reviews. Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere?…read more You won't find it here. My first warning was the decrepit sign over the door in a dilapidated strip center. But, as the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." The food was good. Not great. My usual order is fajitas, this time a chicken, steak, and chicken combo. The plate was served sizzling. Served with 3 small tortillas and the usual fixin's. El Mexicano doesn't serve any beans other than refried, so, no option for black beans, pinto or borracho. The shrimp in the dish were perfect, the chicken was dried out and there were about 6 little strips of steak. The grilled onions and peppers were very good. My wife's shrimp dish was very salty. She prefers the interpretation of Shrimp Mexicana at others Mexican restaurants. And for good measure, because we asked for some lime to squeeze on the shrimp and they tacked on $2 to the bill. But what really resulted in my barely average review was the cleanliness of El Mexicano; or rather, the lack of it. You'll notice a yellow bucket that hangs on the wall in the dining room, yes, in full sight of diners. I witnessed a server drop something on the floor, grab a cloth from the bucket and clean the floor. Then, she returned the cleaning cloth to the bucket. Moments later, another server used the same cloth to clean tables! The health department would have a hissy fit if they saw this. Worse, when I mentioned this to the manager, he was indifferent. I know he understood me, he just didn't care. If the manager is so indifferent to such an obvious health hazard, I can't fathom what goes on in the kitchen. El Mexicano is a "one and done" for us.

We ordered the Trio of Guacamole and they were all fantastic. I ordered an Oaxaca Old Fashioned. The presentation was crazy. It smoked and bubbled. When we arrived we had a brief wait before we checked in, and were seated on the second level. Our server was excellent, our service was quick and he was always around without hovering. It was bitter cold outside so instead of my usual margarita ($14+) I opted for a beer ($6). We started with the salsa trio, one of my favorites with handmade assorted chips. It includes three salsas, somewhat spicy, sweet tomato and tomatillo - the spicy and sweet were my favorites. Next we ordered the tacos el carbon and carbon burrito - pricing is expensive! We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My tacos had a beautiful presentation, the meat came out on a skewer and smoking from the hot coals. All toppings were repeated on the plate. The steak was overcooked and tough though. Had a nice smoke to it, but very chewy. My husband enjoyed his burrito but wasn't the best he's ever had. They also had a mariachi band walk around but they had "tips" all over their instruments and clothes. Overall we had a nice meal but the price point doesn't equal the food quality.

Felipe's is open space, comfortable booths, and it looked like the floors were so clean you eat off them. Nina, our server, was patient, attentive, and seemed to be one step ahead of us. Chips and salsa were served, a thicker style chip and a mildly spicy salsa, served in a mini carafe. I was happy to see Felipe's has a lunch menu, Mon thru Saturday. My wife ordered the lunch portioned Los Cabo's special, shrimp, grilled onions and mushrooms in a cheese sauce served with black beans and rice. Well seasoned, very tasty. I passed on my usual fajitas and ventured into the realm of enchiladas. The full order came with 3 chicken enchiladas smothered in a mole sauce. The mole was rich and sweeter than most I've had, but not overpowering. And what other Mexican restaurant offers a side of cucumber salad? I love the way Felipe's plates their food. Elongated plates for enchiladas, square plates for other dishes. They have a beautiful presentation. There's a QR code on the table that offers a free serving of queso if you post a review on their site. The only disappointment was the queso was brought to the table cold. We topped off our lunch with an order of Flan. Spectacular. There's something special going on at Felipe's. I'm confident you'll be more than pleased.
