Tonight we had an amazing dinner. From the start the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Lazar came immediately and was very attentive and helpful with our menu choices. The fish dip appetizer was very enjoyable served with warm pita bread. He was extremely patient as we decided on our entrees giving us time to enjoy our evening out. We decided on the green salad with grouper and the seafood risotto. Both were excellent. Twice durning our meal head chef Ricardo came out to check on how we were enjoying our dinner. I noticed him also stopping at other tables when he heard the table next to us was celebrating a birthday he surprised them with a free appetizer. Had a reservation and arrived on time- waited over 15 min for a server (and only came after two of us asked). Drinks took longer than the entrees- no clue what was happening behind the bar. Two guests ordered chicken sandwiches ane they were fully inedible (and these aren't two people to complain). Cocktails were mid and 100% not worth the price tag. Sol by the Sea nearly ruined our Christmas dinner due to their own poor internal communication. I reserved online. I then visited the website and saw that the 4 pm time I had reserved for seemed to fall between the two services, brunch and dinner. Not wanting to risk our family's holiday meal, I called to make sure we would be taken care of. Always better to speak to someone rather than just rely on the online system, right? Nope. Calling, I got the front desk of the resort. I asked to be transferred to the restaurant and they said they did not have a phone, but they could answer any questions. They assured me that at the time I had a reservation, they would be serving their usual full dinner menu plus Christmas specials. When we showed up, we were simply told they were only serving their happy hour menu. This had about 4 cocktails, 4 appetizers and 3 mains. Most of it my family is allergic to and much of the remainder they would not care to eat (smoked trout spread, anyone?). I explained the situation to the hostess and manager and we were told they could not arrange any other food be prepared, and they could not accommodate us later when dinner was being served. During this very stressful moment of deciding to bail on our holiday plans, we were seated at a very bulky uncomfortable table in direct hot sun which only made things worse. Stopped by Key Largo driving through the Florida Keys to Key West and found this hidden gem. The restaurant is located in a resort - and it is beautiful. You go for the food but u definitely stay for the scenery. The restaurant was very nice and scenic. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. I was searching for Caribbean restaurants and glad this is the one I selected. We ordered the crab fries as an appetizer and the portion was too big for the three of us to finish (not a complaint). We also ordered the seafood Mac and cheese and I very much liked it. We also ordered the fish taco and it was tasty. The two tacos were very filling. After eating, we spent time enjoying the beach and taking plenty of pictures. While traveling the entire day through the Florida Keys - this was the most picturesque and enjoyable. Absolutely beautiful location located on the property of the Playa Largo in Key Largo. The restaurant is an open air set-up with 270 degree view of the water and resort. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable of the food and the history of the food and location. Started off with the Coconut Muffins, followed up with a Caesar Salad, then the Jerk Wings and Curried Grouper! All of that and a bag of perfect Florida weather. Located on the upper level of the marina inside the Playa Largo Resort is this fine dining establishment with plenty of delicious options for the whole family. This restaurant is open to the public so even if you're not a guest of the hotel, you can still come in and receive a day pass to park and enjoy the restaurant. As you make your way in, you'll notice the bohemian wooden deck overlooking the colorful and vibrant waters creating the perfect view and offering a delectable dining experience. It is on the pricier end but you can expect that from this ultra luxurious Resort. This place is billed as a nice eatery. It's a bar. It is at least as noisy as a sports bar on game night. See my video. I had the playa burger and my girl had the fish tacos. We shared the poke. The poke was a solid meh. It was just tuna and assorted whatever thrown in. I truly wish any chef making poke would go to Hawaii and have some real Samoan poke. So at least they could reach toward the goal instead of this floundering mess we see so often here in the lower 48. Fish tacos were gritty and unremarkable. She simply ate the ingredients off the tortillas. Sad cuz she loves fish tacos. Also, elsewhere in the keys the tacos are 6 inch tortillas here they were smaller. I could possibly be wrong but it was my perception. The playa burger was delicious. The sweet potato tots were also delish. They served them in a stainless cup that kept them hot much longer that otherwise. Service was great and then evaporated. Dunno what to say about that. Its sad that 4-6ozs of poke, a delish burger and some whatevs tacos were $76 at a bar. I am sure some folks will love the place. I don't hate it, but, I didn't think it was a bar. The 2nd time it was attentive and a little slow to get the food out. The 1st time I went here the conch fritters were perfect, the 2nd time they were undercooked. Both times I went here the main meal was very good. All the time you will go here the views will be sweet and the decor perfect! This was our first visit to Sol by the Sea in Key Largo. The wait was short, the staff were super friendly and the food, well, that needs a little more detail. To start we had the Stone Crab Claws that were the best I've ever had!! Both sauce's were excellent. Highly recommended. We ordered the fish Tacos and the Burger cooked medium, both with sweet potato tots. The tacos were dry and lacked flavor. It seemed like the fish was over cooked. The Burger was served with only lettuce on it. I requested to get the missing toppings (tomato and pickles) while I was waiting for them to come out and I took a bite only to discover that the burger was totally over cooked. I typically don't like to send food back, but I had no choice. The replacement burger was cooked much better and had good flavor. The Sweet potato tots were yummy. Came there for the gorgeous oceanfront view on my birthday for lunch, and came back the day after for the atmosphere, friendly staff and key lime cake! It's a great pit stop off the road to or from Key West. Food was great but service even better and the sunset is very nice! It's part of a resort but avaliable to all visitors. Service was slow. Portion to cost was really bad. Then I had them serve me an above room temperature red wine and say that was ok. Not ok. They did make it up later and give us a chilled glass but the over all night I felt taken advantage of. Like it is a resort and you have to like it. No. The $40 ribeye was like something you have at golden coral. I expect so much more when I am paying $40 for a bone in ribeye. Very disappointed. Our server Rio tried really hard and did a really good job but the things I had issues were out of her control. The view is great but I recommend happy hour drinks and small bites only. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would! $120 for a burger, fish sandwich and 2 drinks is out of control. But even worse than the pricing is the service. Our waitress was clueless about the beer selection, when I'd ask about the beers, she didn't even offer a beer menu or a sample when I ask more about a specific beer. She disappeared, another waitress showed up, asked what I was drinking, told her iced tea a few times and showed back up with water. We had to ask for silverware and napkins which we didn't get until after our food came. We went without water refills for quite some time and my parents were so tired of waiting that they actually left the table because it took so long to get the check. They were back in the room before I could pay. I will say the food was tasty but between the slow service and the price it's not worth it unless you're not willing to leave the resort. read more

We celebrated our Anniversary here and had the most WONDERFUL dining experience!! Best ever!!! This was our first time here. From the moment we arrived, we felt so special!! The staff ALL knew it was our Anniversary and they did everything to make it a memory of a LIFETIME!! Chef Ricardo Burke is so AMAZING!! He treats you like your family. He has a beautiful smile and lights up the room!!! He came to our table several times to ask about what foods we like and any dietary restrictions we may have and went above and beyond to accommodate us!! The food was so delicious and fresh. Thai place is a mess. My friend and i went for lunch. They took forever to seat us even though no one was in the restaurant. The server messed up our order and blamed on the kitchen her name and then when we finally asked for the bill which we did not ask to split we just asked to pay certain amounts on two cards and the rest cash. They somehow managed to mess that up as well charging me twice for two people portions and also doing incorrect math. I have tried calling multiple times to speak to a manager they didn't give us copies of receipts. It s a very bad place to eat sadly because the view and atmosphere is gorgeous. We had a great experience at Sol by the Sea! Monte was our server and he was on point. We did have about a 10-15 minute wait before he found us, but once he came by, we had his full attention.
