Our guide, Joelle, was so fun and lovely. She gave us great recommendations for our time in Estes Park. She was very knowledgeable and gave really good instructions. She handled everything really well. Our group was small - only 4 people in total on Memorial Day, which was great. Overall 10/10 experience.

Such a great experience and breath taking views. My partner and I wanted a way to see the rockies and this was by far the best way to see it. The guide was fantastic and the horses well trained. My partner had never ridden a horse and I had in the past many times. It will be something I will recommend!

So you like adventurous tours? If yes - try this place out. Beautiful, beautiful horses. So gentle and good looking horses!! We took 2 hour tours. Our horses Hershey and Tsunami were awesome. Tsunami was one of their biggest, but so gentle. My husband was very scared at the beginning, but tour guides made it a comfortable ride for him. Scenery was awesome. We got to explore the sites that we never thoughts we'd see. It's good to be out in the nature and explore Rocky Mountains. We loved our experience and highly recommend it.

Took a group of 11 girl scouts for a 1 hour ride. This is what the girls had chosen to do for the final event of the year. Pros : 1. easy to book ride. I needed some extra slots opened up so my whole group could go. It was easy to contact them via email. got response back within 24 hours and was easily able to book the remaining spots. 2. communication was friendly and professional 3. arrived 30 minutes early as requested. It is clear where to park and also where to check in at. 4. Went to the window. This is when you will sign your waivers. 5. Horses were already ready to go. Pretty shortly after we all checked in and got waivers done, we got our helmets. They also had saddlebags available for those who wanted it. 6. You can carry your purse/backpack during the ride, you just can not get into it. 7. The helmet is required for those under 18. 8. They had the horses ready to go prior to our arrival. They chose horses for everyone and we loaded up fairly quickly. 9. Off we went. The ride was nice. Several beautiful views along the way. 10. Horses that liked to nibble they had a little nose guard type thing on them (it was breathable) so they couldn't stop for snacks with inexperienced riders. We had several of those in our group. Cons: 1. price is a fair amount higher than some other local spots in loveland or red feather. 2. the ride is horses nose to butt the entire ride, single file. Was not really able to chat. 3. our guides did tell us a few things but overall were not super chatty. We enjoyed our experience overall. They are highly organized and that was very much appreciated. They will take pictures of each rider near the beginning if you want a copy it is $10 per rider you want a copy of.

Really conflicted in this review. That staff was so kind. I've never ridden western, so I had a few questions on how to get the horse to back up and stop if needed. Staff said I wouldn't need to know either of those because the horses didn't really spook and they didn't need any space between them. About one minute into the ride ALL of our horses spooked. My daughter attempted to do a one reign stop which didn't work. My horse jumped in place and kept spooking. My husbands horse was pretty steady other than a little kick. After this all the horses were so close together we had no room to steer or back up. My daughter, who has ridden for over a year was so uncomfortable we ended the ride. This goes with saying no horse is spook proof but that's how these horses were advertised. If we didn't have some experience I don't think we would have been able to ride out the spooking. Again, staff was nice but more instruction would have helped. They did say they would do a full refund so that's really nice.

Our tour guide was very nice . The views were outstanding ! I felt the trails were quite steep and not cleaned up enough for the horses . The trails were very narrow and the horses had to overcome roots and rocks constantly . It was very steep going down and lots of ducking and avoiding branches and big roots in the ground . I think maybe I should have booked the hour ride instead of the two hour ride . I have bruises on my legs and ankles . That being said , it was a beautiful view and I loved my horse Aspen .

The ride, horses, views, and guides at Sombrero all made our two-hour trail ride the best! We researched all of the horse stables in Estes and this one looked very promising. Super easy to book online! Our ride went off without a hitch and we had so much fun. The family that owns it really cares about their history and the horses and you can tell they're leaving their future generations with such an awesome legacy! Can't wait to return on our next visit to the area!

We had a great ride w Sierra. The horses were matched perfectly to everyone in my family. My husband is 6'4 and Roach was just right for him. My seven year old is 40" and Moose was the right gentleman for a kid's first ride. Fence was my mare and she perfection. My son also loved his horse but I forget his name (Dakota? It was a town or state name). We did an hour ride since it was the kids' first ride ever and we didn't know what to expect. It was the perfect time for us, as we got to ride by ourselves. Sierra was engaging and patient w the kids, so much so that my daughter wants to go work there. We'll definitely do it again.

It was an excellent ride for an hour with the kids and a great guide that took us up the mountain. I would choose them again in a moment.

Had a meth addicted guide who didn't stop yelling at us or talking for the entire 2 hour ride. Horses had big cuts on their legs. This place is far too expensive for the lame area they walk you through. Website is a scam and no way to ever talk to anyone as phone number doesn't take you to a person so they can avoid talking to any customers.

Disappointed! Congested and off a busy road. The staff was nice but the horses looked overworked. Ended up using another stable.

We had two adults and four kids in our group, all with some riding experience, and every one of us had an amazing time. Our trail guides, Emma and Anna, were outstanding. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and constantly attentive to everyone's safety. Anna, our back guide, spent much of the nearly two-hour ride on foot, helping the horses navigate downed trees, steep rocky hillsides, and even rock stair steps. It was obvious how much they cared about both the riders and the horses. Speaking of the horses--they were some of the best trail horses I've ever ridden. They were healthy, well cared for, beautiful, and gentle. I've been on rides elsewhere where the horses were overweight and clearly not in great condition, but these horses looked fantastic. My horse, Bacon, completely stole my heart--I wanted to take him home! The trail itself was breathtaking, with challenging terrain that showcased just how sure-footed and trustworthy these horses are. There was also a family of complete beginners riding ahead of us, and Emma and Anna made sure they felt comfortable and confident the entire time. I would recommend Jackson Stables to anyone, whether you're an experienced rider or climbing into the saddle for the very first time. It was easily one of the highlights of our Colorado trip!

This was not labeled as a "guided talking tour".... They also allowed someone with special needs to ride on a 3 hour ride which is "not for beginners" and that really held up the experience. They should reserve the right to evaluate riders in the beginning and make adjustments accordingly. But all in all, a good experience.

Authenticity - The old west comes alive here. There is no corporation running the show. This is the real thing. Trail rides to spectacular places on horses that want to ride. Led by read and local people. Friendly - A local family that has owned and run Meeker Park Lodge for-ev-er comes out to greet you and welcome you to their little piece of paradise. On-site staff often feature Ms Dever's herself, but you may also meet Chloe, a local high schooler who has been working with horses since she was 13. Barb may lead your ride...and she may sing you one of her cowboy (girl?) originals. Affordable - $35/hr (summer 2017) per person is a very good price for a spry horse, expert guides, and a lifetime experience. Beautiful - If you want Rocky Mountain beauty as it was intended...this is it. We've been on 1hr and 2hr rides to stunning places at Meeker Park Stables; from babbling brooks to rocky topped mountains and beautiful wildflower meadows to scented forests. As we were trying to do that, the horses suddenly became startled and took off. Because we had been focused on taking the photo, our hands were no longer fully on the reins, and no one was prepared for the horses to start running. Within seconds everyone fell off even though we tried to pull back the horses still didn't stop! My sister suffered many injuries, including 3 broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken ulna and scapula . It was heartbreaking to witness my sister in such pain. After the accident, we were told that emergency help would take about two hours to reach us in the woods. We were given two options, either stay sitting on the ground in the woods and wait for help to arrive, or have everyone walk back to the stables to get emergency assistance sooner. My family waited approximately 46 minutes before deciding to walk since my sister was in critical condition and couldn't breathe, despite having broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken arm, had to walk about half a mile. Then took another 10 minutes for ambulance to arrive, even though an ER was only 10 mins away. We have location history documenting the amount of time we spent waiting and walking after the accident. The following day, I called the company to request a refund for the excursion since my sister had to pay for her medical bills. No one asked how my sister or the rest of my family were doing or expressed any concern for their well being. That lack of compassion was incredibly disappointing. Accidents can happen, but how a company responds during an emergency says everything. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. I hope they improve their safety practices, emergency response procedures, and the way they treat guests after a serious incident so that no other family has to experience what ours did.
