I moved to Somerset earlier this year, and it has been a great experience so far. I want to give a huge shoutout to Nicole from the Leasing Office (which is in Las Palmas). She helped me walk through everything, which made the transition so smooth. Having someone like her truly makes a difference and her personality made me feel so welcomed, especially since this is my first time with the Irvine Company!! As for the Somerset community, there is plenty of parking, and it is very quiet throughout the day and evening. The neighbors are friendly and seem to know each other. I also feel safe walking around, and the people in my area are respectful when it comes to noise. If you are considering Somerset, I highly recommend it!! read more

Been in this unit for about 4+ years and have really enjoyed it. Recently I was relocated during an in home repair, which was inconvenient to say the least. However, when there are problems, there are opportunities, and I'd have to say, the General Manager (Sharon) did an outstanding job, making this inconvenience, more convenient. I was pleased to receive updates throughout. I was pleased that when I did get back into my unit, that she did her BEST, to ensure it was back to the way I left it. As mostly 3rd party companies come in to do the repair work, she had her onsite team come in and fix the messes and mistakes left. I lived here for just over a year and had to move out due to job obligations but this was overall, a very nice community to live in. Pros: -Nice quiet community with many young professionals and young families. -Plenty of parking. There were very few times when I would arrive home and not see a parking spot open close to my unit but there was ALWAYS open parking within the community itself. -Great amenities and nice layout. I loved going to their events that they would have by the clubhouse. -The maintenance team is one of the best of all the apartments I've lived at. Most things get addressed same day or following day. Cons: -The management team isn't on site. It's actually shared between Anacapa, La Palma, and Somerset and located in the La Palma apartments so if you do need something then you would have to go over there. -Thin, thin, thin walls. If you are a sensitive sleeper and your upstairs neighbor is loud or has kids, good luck! You WILL hear all the footsteps. I would highly recommend getting a top floor unit though if you can. I think the pros far outweighed the cons for this apartment complex. And, as many others have stated, be prepared for cleaning fees upon move out. They are relatively transparent about it and honestly, kind of standard practice not to get back any deposit and probably have to pay some on top of it no matter how clean. read more

632 Marketview -- unlivable apartment!! Beware of the shenanigans that Somerset and Irvine apartment company will try to pull on you. We moved to 632 Marketview on the first floor and were super excited. However, the apartment is made so cheaply and the walls were paper thin. The tenants above us has a child who never played outside, only inside, which would cause an obscene amount of noise. This was worsened by the fact that the apartments were so cheap and we could basically hear every single footstep. We tried to speak with the upstairs neighbors and with somerset management and unfortunately nothing changed. Somerset and Irvine company were particularly unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend any Irvine apartment company to anyone! read more

Zack is one of the best maintenance guys to date that's been at Somerset and it's a shame that he's being moved to a sister facility as his main property. Whether it's to change a light bulb, fix my garbage disposal, or redo the dryer vent because it wasn't looked at when I first moved in, it's always done with professionalism and correctly the first time. I also appreciate not only his dedication to customer service but his expertise as well. He explains why things go wrong or what's happened and why he has to fix it rather than just fixing it and making it an uncomfortable situation with a random guy in your home. I continue to have issues at this place. A month ago I found a giant cockroach in my shower. There are a bunch of rats living in the garbage area. And I even saw a bat hanging out my neighbors apartment for a couple days. There also continues to be issues with communication and getting anything done here. The team also had vendors come stretch the carpet recently and shampoo it and they caused some damage. There's a missing chunk of carpet now, and they damaged the baseboard. One of the workers even got dirt all over my dining room chair so the other one used the shampooer to clean it. It sucks that no one knows how to do their job nowadays. Can't wait to move out next year. It's unfortunate because I love my apartment but the complex is dirty and management and their vendors are terrible. read more

This is a follow-up to my review from about a month ago. Unfortunately, nothing has been done to address the concerns I raised. As I mentioned in my original review from November, these issues have now been ongoing for over six months. Shortly after posting my review, I was contacted by an assistant manager (shame on you and Somerset Management) who asked to discuss my concerns. I took the time to speak with her for nearly an hour, during which I was told the issues would be resolved in a timely manner. It has now been a month since that conversation, and there has been no follow-up and no communication. This experience has reinforced my initial concerns. Communication remains poor, and the information provided continues to be misleading. Expectations were set one way, and the reality has been very different. Based on my experience, I would not recommend moving here. read more

After living here for over 6 years, we just had a baby girl and were looking to transfer to a larger unit. We dropped in to the office without an appointment and Nicole was so kind to help us right away. She was able to help us figure out a great solution to make it a smooth transition and save us any extra costs. She was so kind and communicative. We really felt that she wanted to do everything she could to help us out. She was even helpful when we changed our minds a few days later and made sure we were able to get into another lease in our current unit. Thanks for your patience and dealing with our indecisiveness. Sean the maintenance man saved our life! We had a keyfob that died and had the battery replaced. When we got back our garage wasn't working with it. Along came Sean who figured that there was a blockage somewhere but then found there was a sensor issue. He fixed it and we had our garage working again! Thank you, Sean! read more

I already had doubts living in an Irvine Company apartment because I heard so many bad experiences but we gave this one a try and we wish we didn't. We have been living here for 6 months and after a maintenance inspection, they found that the HVAC unit area is wet and there has been mold because of that. At first they said we just need to clear out the area near the HVAC unit so that the repair team can work on it. But when the workers came, they all of a sudden said they need to cut open the wall facing our living room. We were shocked and anxious to hear this news because this means we essentially are unable to use the kitchen, living room, and the office room. We reached out to Irvine Company to see if they can reduce our rent or provide us living accommodations while this repair is being done since we can't use 2/3rd of our place. They said the only accommodation they can provide is to let us use the clubhouse during the day time. They pretty much were implying that while this repair is being done, we can live in the other bedroom since we have 2 bedrooms. We complained that the place currently is not livable and we feel like we are risking our health especially since they found mold. They just said "im sorry" On top of this, the least they could do is give us daily updates on the repair (They also said that they will keep us updated). Ever since the repair began, we have not heard anything from Irvine Company. I literally have to ask the workers about what's going on next but it's been hard to communicate with them because they don't speak English that well. When I tried calling Irvine Company, the answer I get is they don't have updates either and that they will get back to me once they do. It's day 4 now and we don't know what's happening next. It's been a very frustrating experience and it feels like Irvine Company just doesn't care. We can't wait to move out once the lease is over. *This review is not towards maintenance workers. They are so kind and amazing. Thank you Julio for being so helpful throughout this stressful process.* UPDATE: 3/13/2025- as of today, the repair is completed. Although there was still lack of communication and hiccups here and there, I want to thank Cheryl from resident services. She made sure she followed up after our initial complaint and frustration and reassured that moving forward there will be better communication and will provide daily updates. She did call me daily for a few days updating us on what's going on, but unfortunately she got sick so we didn't get any updates for the following week. Even though our experience with the repair was not up to par, I do appreciate Cheryl's efforts in hearing us out. She also told me that they will approve our rent concession request and gave us credit for 50% of our rent for the 3 week repair period. I hope Irvine Company will take this feedback seriously. Up until the repair situation, we have really been enjoying living at Somerset. It's dog friendly, quiet, and the amenities are good. But one bad experience can ruin all other positive experiences. I hope that Irvine Company understands this and that they can provide better communication with their residents especially during stressful times like a major repair. read more

There is no on site leasing team. There is no phone number to contact security and security is only offered after 7pm. Security is shared with all 5 apartments in the immediate area so they take forever to respond. The leasing office does not answer their phone , it's impossible to get thru. read more

WE NEED PERSONNEL IN THE FRONT OFFICE!!! The front office is abandoned. You can try to call Las Palmas for help, but you go straight to voicemail. These apartments are requesting top dollar rent, increases every year, yet there is virtually no customer service! I do not recommend living here! read more

We are relatively new residents here at Somerset Apartments and on occasions have had service requests upon need. We are very much impressed with and grateful to have Zack, our maintenance technician, handling any situation that has or will arise. This gentleman is extremely professional, very knowledgeable, and thorough with his performance. We also had the pleasure of being assisted by Nicole, from the residential office, over some troubleshooting we needed help with over some recent upgrades to the property. She handled our inquiries with the upmost patience and quality of service. She addressed our concerns promptly with a very personable approach. I've been here for about almost 5 years and have loved living here ever since. Maintenance techs Sean and Zack recently came by to investigate an issue we had with our AC unit and hey have been super friendly and responsive with all of the calls we've made to the office that require attention. They definitely deserve recognition for how professional and caring they've been. Me and my wife have a newborn and they were quick enough to come out and make sure our apartment is comfortable for our little one before we came home from the hospital. The actual units are nice, but I think I got one that might have had the maintenance deferred because of COVID. My sink is clogged, my garbage disposal isn't working, and my toilet is always running. Anyway, I set up an appointment for the sink maintenance and planned my day off around it. (I work and go to school so my time off is super valued) I also gated my dogs. So today I had a maintenance appointment from 2-4. I sit and sit and call the office at 4:15. I'm told they're running late. Why did I have to call them? I would have gone and done done things and came back if they just communicated a different time. I had plans to get my nails done but ... nope. I don't feel my time is being respected. There was no apology... no offer to compensate me for my time. And I waited till almost 6pm fit maintenance. . And here's the kicker! My clothes have been shrinking every time I use the washer. My $189 cashmere sweater is now the size of toddler. I finally figured out why my clothes have been shrinking since I moved in about a month ago. It's because the cold setting on the machine fills with hot. So was highly annoyed with the staff. I called corporate to complain plus I wrote a review here explaining that I wished the staff was sensitive to its residents needs. I was so disappointed. However... this story has a very happy ending for me. The manager heard about this and even though it was his day off (and he was out celebrating his birthday) , he called to let me know how much he values his residents, and he apologized. He explained that he has high standards when it comes to managing this property running this property. Those were not empty words because he followed them up with prompt action. He had maintenance come right away and they fixed all three issues I was having. He also credited me for the shrunk clothing. As if that was not enough, he offered to cover the cost to get my nails done for when I reschedule! I am actually blown away. I did not expect such a thorough response to my complaints. He addressed every single issue I was having and offered a solution that I feel went above and beyond what "the other guys" in the industry would have done to address my dissatisfaction. Only writing this review because Chris and David, the maintenance guys, are friendly, courteous, helpful, and efficient, which are the qualities you'd want in a maintenance staff! Our apartment had wasp issues in the patio so we requested for help in getting rid of these pests. I know pest control isn't their normal responsibility, (I think one of them is only in charge of groundskeeping!) but Chris and David still took care of it quickly and effectively, while even being considerate about wearing shoe coverings and face covering when entering our unit. Also they took the time to clean the patio area after their job was done, which was very thoughtful and thorough of them. Thank you Chris and David! Meanwhile, I think if there was better communication with the actual pest control team and the leasing office, these guys wouldn't have had to make two trips. My fiancé and I were really looking forward to living at Somerset until an employee made a BIG mistake.. we told Somerset prior to us coming to look at apartments that we were looking for a dog friendly apartment. The employee who gave us the tour was also well aware of that. He showed us an apartment that my fiancé and I really liked and that we were ready to put on hold. He then advised us that he would send us an email to complete the application which would process a credit check and put down the deposit to secure the apartment. The next day I got a call from another employee saying that they made a mistake and that the apartment that we applied for is not dog friendly AFTER the credit check had already gone through. This is a hard credit check by the way. We were given two options for alternative apartments - one that was too early of a move in date and another that was way over our budget. We were also told that their system wouldn't let us transfer our information to another Irvine company complex due to how the system was designed so we would have to do ANOTHER credit check. What a horrible mistake to have run someone's credit just to tell them that the apartment they were presented is not available. After being told nothing could be done, I asked to speak with a supervisor on alternatives to help fix the issue that was made and that supervisor told me that I would get a call back on Monday or Tuesday. It's Wednesday night and I still have not gotten a call with a solution.. very poor customer service. DO BETTER, SOMERSET.. read more

Somerset is a beautiful property that I would suggest to anyone. The units are gorgeous and I feel so at home. The gym is dope, super nice with plenty of machines. The pool is huge! We love to host and have friends over, plenty of space with all the amenities that include the pool, grills, fire pits, clubhouse, etc... The staff is super nice, respectful, helpful, and are on top of their game. Whatever you need, they will handle it. If you are looking in the Irvine area, look no further, definitely worth every penny! read more

The property is fabulous! Clean, many amenities, but the office associates are not exactly knowledgeable. No matter if I called, dropped in, or emailed I faced a long line of "ummmm..." I was extremely frustrated. Parking is okay, quite community, and all around safe and friendly vibe. I would suggest if it meets your budget limits. read more
