I love Somisomi and have been to many locations until they brought it to Temecula. The kiosk is new in the last month I've noticed helps staff be able to have people order even if there are no customers so they can get through cleaning or when busy to get through all the orders. The one thing I've debated about writing a review for several months now,is the taiyaki consistency. For a couple months recently I have ordered and noticed that when I would bite into the taiyaki it would be VERY stale to the point it would break off. It wasn't until about 1 month ago when I asked another location if that was standard for them to make fresh ones and the staff had told me it was not okay to serve stale ones they always make it there and that I should ask next time I go to make it fresh. Well that led to me noticing that they do in fact make fresh ones and will just give stale ones if you do not bring attention to it. Well, I also noticed that it is a particular staff that does not like doing it and stated that it will "melt the Nutella and takes time" to make fresh one. I timed it and took less than five minutes for a fresh one to be made. Which is same as other location in Orange County and San Diego that provide a good quality Taiyaki for customers. That same staff member was there tonight and she repeated the same thing and went to the side to complain about having to provide fresh taiyaki when she could have used that time ( over 5 minutes) to make it. I know it's a little thing but I have been so disappointed to see my taiyaki break off in so many pieces from how stale it has been. Other weekends I've been there and she is not there, there is no issue. If I can go to other locations and get fresh ones without asking why can't she provide same. I'm so glad. I finally went to SomiSomi in Temecula! I got the upside down - the fish-shaped cone is upside down in the cup. That makes room for a bit more toppings! They took the freshly baked cone and stuffed it with a generous portion of Nutella (my choice). They then added the soft serve ice cream to it and to the cup- then invited me to choose my topping. The Ah-boong cone is delicious. It's made in front of you- and the outside is crispy while the inside is almost chewy. It's still warm when they give it to you! They also add a small macaroon as a delicious garnish. This is a really beautiful presentation! The location is clean and bright. The room is very sparse. There are no tables to sit at at all. But there's ample space to wait both inside and outside, and there are some benches as well. The staff are friendly and attentive and it's a great spot in town for a treat! read more

I've been to several Somi Somi's and I'm glad this location is able to add to the consistency with the chain of dessert places. Serving up Korean soft serve, Somix2 is worth a taste especially if you just finished eating at the Handroll place next door! Parking is easy and there is plenty of space for everyone. When you walk through the front door, you will notice a kiosk on your left hand side. The workers are busy cooking up your taiyaki and serving you ice cream with toppings galore, so there will not be an actual register for you to order at. You will first be asked to place your phone number before ordering, so you can join their rewards program. As usual, my fiancé and I have a plan: I get two fresh taiyakis (Nutella flavored and custard flavored) while he gets the soft serve in a cup (cookies and cream was the choice today). They serve the taiyaki piping hot! I break apart my taiyaki and dip it into his soft serve. This way, I get flavored taiyaki with the deliciousness. I noticed this location served coffee floats. We've been here twice since they opened, and I really wanted to love this location... but it's just not hitting the same. First off, service isn't the greatest. The space is also lacking seating-- there are only a few stand-up shelves inside similar to Mira Mesa, but come on, you have ALL that empty space! For context, we used to live in Mira Mesa and would go to that location all the time. Their taiyaki was always made fresh-- warm, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. At this Temecula location, the taiyaki has been HARD AS A ROCK both times. They seem to pre-make them and have fans blowing on them, which completely dries them out. That's honestly the biggest disappointment. Taiyaki should be hot and fresh-- that's kind of the whole point..... The ice cream itself is still good, and I do appreciate the rotating flavors and the variety of toppings. That part is consistent. This is definitely a must try if you're craving something sweet. My personal favs are the crispy taiyakis with a spongey bite before you reach the warm gooey filling of your choice. You can't go wrong with a classic custard, but the sweetness scale has no limit--from Nutella to a milder matcha or black sesame filling. We have had the cold brew (ok!), taiyaki (warm and filling) and soft serve (creamy and delicious!). The ube, matcha, strawberry/banana pudding soft serve and all are so tasty! We've also tried red bean and custard fillings for the taiyaki. Everything is yummy and aesthetically pleasing and you honestly can't go wrong. There isn't really a place to sit down and eat but they have tables where you can enjoy your treats while standing up and they also have some water if you need it as well. It's located at the corner of Promenade in Temecula a little tucked away. It's nice because they have a ton of benches and umbrellas you can sit outside to enjoy your ice cream. The store is nice and clean. There was only one worker when we went. She was quick and friendly. They have a handful of different soft serves and they'll swap out which swirls flavors they have. I usually get the matcha, but I tried the matcha strawberry swirl today. It was a great mix of flavors! Been wanting to check out SomiSomi and finally got the chance a few days ago with my kids. Its located by the mall near Benihana. We all ordered their fish shaped cone upside downwith soft serve called "Ahboong". You can either order it this way, or the just soft serve in a cup and even a cold brew float. Once you order what style, you have serveral choices for soft serve and the filling of the ahboong (fish cone). So many varieties you can make! Not only do they serve this but they also serve Taiyaki which is just the fish shaped waffle with a filling. Everything is made to order and this sweet treat is pure deliciousness. Hot or cold day, its an enjoyable treat! As you enter the store, straight ahead is the counter area where they make the goods and to your right is a long standing table/countertop to enjoy your treats. Unfortunately there are no tables or chairs inside but outside are some benches. The young ladies assisting us were nice and helpful with any questions we had. This was wonderful. The matcha is to die for if you don't mind me saying and my husband absolutely adored the custard filled fish cone thing. The service was wonderful we were helped quickly and they answered the questions my husband had since he had never tried it before. On top of that, my husband had been raving about how delicious the ice cream was when he accidentally dropped it mid sentence. In spite of the overwhelming crowd of people that had just come in and were waiting in line, the wonderful workers replaced my husband's ice cream free of charge. Alanna was really nice and super patient with us since it was our first time and we asked a lot of questions. There's no seating inside, but we found a couple of benches outside. Not the most comfortable, but it worked. It was smooth, not too sweet, and didn't leave me feeling heavy or bloated afterward (which is a big plus). They also have lactose-free options. Can never go wrong with SomiSomi! We got the taiyaki with custard this time and it was cooked perfectly with that nice warm crisp. The staff here is also very accommodating and friendly. My daughter accidentally dropped our matcha strawberry milk glass bottle and it completely shattered all over the floor. They were very quick to clean it up and even gave us a replacement. It was pretty crowded when we got there but there was still some space to stand since it's a pretty roomy location. The only thing I was disappointed in with this SomiSomi was that there wasn't a photo op wall. Not a huge problem but it's the first I've been to without that photo op. read more

Finally got around to trying Somisomi. I can see why it's always busy. There was a line on a Tuesday night, and there were several people outside enjoying their ice cream. There is nowhere to sit inside, so the benches outside are pretty full. I had the upside down with custard filling, milk ice cream, and biscoff topping with strawberry. The soft serve was great, not overly sweet, and creamy, perfect with the biscoff crumble topping. The upside down fish is like an ice cream cone in the shape of a fish, filled with a filling of your choice, which they then place upside down on top of the soft serve. It was good, except a part of it was not fully cooked, so it was kind of doughy. We still really enjoyed it, and look forward to trying other flavors. read more

Came here after going to the sushi restaurant next door, I got the Earl Gray, and it was great, i don't really eat too much sweet, but this was the perfect balance of sweet, and earthiness, and smooth consistency. My wife got green matcha which was good, as well, but Early Gray definitely was better. They give you a good size portion, for great to share, and the staff was very nice. This place opened not that long ago. When we walked up, we were greeted with sticky splatters of dried up ice cream all over the concrete in front of the store. When we walked in, there was no line so that was nice and we were greeted and the staff was friendly. This was my first time so I wasn't expecting it to be great because I thought it was just soft serve ice cream but to my surprise, the fish cone made it really good. It was crunchy on the outside and almost like a cake inside with the filling of your choice. Mine was Nutella so it was good. The cookies and cream soft serve was more creamy than the normal soft serve in my opinion. You also get to add toppings. I had the Oreo crumbs and sprinkles. I think overall it was a great treat.
