I love Sonic. I got really into it when I was a student at CNU, where there was one right down the street. The food is good, unique, and not too greasy. I live 45 minutes away from this location, and call me crazy, but I will make the drive occasionally. My fiance and I love Sonic, so we have come here twice so far. Both times, it has been worth the drive. I'm not sure if anyone else in the Northern VA area drives this far for fast food, but if you do, then I am not crazy haha. Maybe that would explain why the two times I've gone, it's been SO crowded. It's good stuff. The food and service are great at this location. I reccomend the Frito chili cheese wraps...it is exactly how it sounds, and so good! They have good breakfast food too. read more

As we rumbled down the highway the hunger had set in. We had our pups with us and was needing a joint where we didn't have to get out of our vehicle and could sit in the shade and eat. Sonic always fits the bill for that. The ol lady ordered the Sonic 1/4 pounder with chee and I ordered the husky 1/2 pounder with chee. Sonic swung for the fences and knocked it out of the park with the burgers. They were excellent!!The reason Sonic Winchester does not get the coveted fifth star from me was the tots, usually my favorite part of any wholesome sonic meal. There was a combination of a hot day and my exhaustion from traipsing around West VA after a day of shooting and hiking that made for a burger craving that was an immediate necessity. After realizing that Sonic allows me to choose to customize my drink in about a billion ways I marveled at all of the options and flavors.....Then I promptly ordered a Cherry Coke, it was still awesome. OH, the ice! It's that super small, almost sno cone ice that was the best thing ever on a hot day!!! I went with the standard Cheeseburger and tots and they were pretty damn good for what I"d consider to be fast food. The tomato and lettuce and onion were crisp and cold and the burger was a flat patty that was cooked through and still had some noticeable flavor. I ended up supplementing my order with a chocolate shake that was pretty darn good. The only downside was I got 2 ketchup packets and it's kind of a pain to signal the car hops for more condiments. Very long wait to get your food brought to your car. I heard very bad reviews about the fries but they were good. I can list several complaints about the cheese burger. The bread is hard as a rock and they loaded up on mustard, dripping when you picked it up. The taters and grilled cheese were good, not much to complain about there.. but I don't suggest stopping at this sonic, just go to bojangles. read more

My son and I just waited for 15 minutes at the drive-through waiting to place our order. Not once were we acknowledged. We could hear the employees inside, but no one for the drive-through. Terrible service. Don't know why I go back, I guess because their food is pretty good. Every time I've gone I've thought maybe this time the service will be better. Never is. Went last week and again waited almost 20 minutes in the drive thru. Waited at the intercom for about 8 minutes - nobody was on the intercom so had to place order at the window. Total wait time was 19 minutes. No apology or acknowledgement from the staff. The young staff clearly had a "care free" attitude while I was watching them prepare orders through the window for about 11 minutes. This was officially the last time I will go to Sonic. Favorite type of fastfood! I wish we had one closer to me I had to drive 40 minutes to get to this location. I feel in love with Sonic when I lived in the New Mexico and reunited with Sonic when I went to Christopher Newport University! So I'm not sure where to even begin. If there were no stars I would probably have given that, but the girl that came to the window was really nice about everything. This was my first experience at Sonic, and to be fair I would like to give them another chance. I wanted to like them soooo badly! When you literally are waiting to have your order taken, sitting in your car waiting for your food, and they still get it wrong a freaking hour later, there is no way you can give a good review!! To start off we got there a few minutes before 8 on Saturday. We waited a couple minutes to get the half off shakes and drinks deal and then pressed the order button, no response after 5 minutes... alright on to another kiosk, press button, out of order... okay drive thru it is. Get in the drive through, there is a paper sign on the kiosk that says the drive through is out of order pull to the window. Alright to the window it is! A nice girl comes up to our window and kindly tells us there drive through crashed, and to go to a kiosk. I explain that we have now been trying to place an order for over 20 minutes! She apologizes and we say alright we will try again. I really freaking wanted a sonic shake! Go to another kiosk and press the button... no response after another 5 minutes!!! At this point I'm like what the hell!! Okay I'll try one more time and go to one final kiosk that I saw another car pull out of and press the button. Hallelujah, praise Jesus, someone answers to take our order!! His name is Tyler and I explain to him what has happened and how excited I am to hear his voice, and he doesn't respond to my excitement and what has happened but kindly takes our order anyway. Alright fair enough, I order two double cheeseburgers, both combos, one with bacon, and both with no tomatoes, mustard, or pickles, one hash brown, one fry, and three milkshakes. At this point I was still excited and then I saw the price on the kiosk. Clearly they didn't ring it up correctly with the half price shakes! At this point I'm getting a bit agitated... well waiting 25 minutes later I'm fuming. I was literally about to just leave when the girl finally brought the food out! She was very nice and I explained the situation and the fact that it was 5 till 9 and we had been here almost an hour with our order rung up wrong. She takes my card and didn't offer any reparations, but I was okay with that, I'll pay my fair share. While she was gone, I checked the order, and even the order was wrong! We wait another 5-10 minutes and I tell her about the burgers, she says "oh my goodness we are not making a very good first impression are we". Hmm no really?! And I was still paying full price for everything at this point! She told me that fixing the burgers would take no more than five minutes... close to 10 minutes later she gets back and I'm like please send the manager out it's not you this is just ridiculous at this point and on top of everything I had three receipts with multiple charges that didn't make sense. 5 minutes later the manager Tyler finally comes out and I explain everything again and tell him that this is just not cool especially consider my 3 month old nursing baby is waiting for me at home and I was supposed to be gone no more than 15 minutes not an 1 hour and 15!!! He went to say that there was nothing he could do, it wasn't his fault, the computer system wasn't working, he couldn't call maintenance, he was short staffed outside and in the kitchen, and it went on and on, but ultimately there was nothing he could do... I'm not sure, maybe it was me looking like I had steam coming off my head or the fact that I just was looking straight ahead with a look of death on my face sitting here listening to all of this, but he finally offered to refund my meal. So ya that was my first Sonic experience, and at the end of all of this my food was cold and mediocre at best. I really wanted to like Sonic with all the hype, but honestly I should have listened to my friend and gone to the Bojangles next door. read more

Friday at 8 pm for 2 burgers and drinks it took 25 Minutes to get ...25 minutes for a fast food burger! I was dumb to stay that long but we were hungry. This place is just horrible. As we all know, Sonic is formatted with pull in bays on both right and left and then in the center you have their drive-thru. This Sonic only had menu machines on one side, they must have been doing maintenance on the other side or something but here was no menu machine to order from. All bays were taken and drive-thru was long. So we waited until a bay was open. When we pulled into an available bay we were looking at the menu and then we here the employee on the intercom asking what we wanted. Which was strange because we never pressed the ready to order button, so we told him we weren't ready. 2 minuted later he asked again if we were ready to order, again we never pressed the ready to order button. Guy then commented ok well I'll go and take someone else's order, which was fine. But the issue was when we for finally ready. When we were ready to order and we pressed the button, no one ever responded back. We pressed two other time, no response. So we figured that bay may have had issues so We then drove to another bay and pressed the button and no response again. We pressed it two other times and gave up. Finally went to the drive-thru window as the line died down. Took about 15 mins to finally get our food. Also not only did the service suck due to them not responding to the bays, we realized 4 of the cars parked in the bays with the menu machine were empty. Assuming the employees had parked their cars there. Not sure why they'd park in the bays with working machines and not on the other side with no menu machines. I rarely eat fast food, but I am a HUGE fan of Sonic shakes and ice cream. I have been to this particular location three times. Three strikes and they are out. No more chances. The one time they came out after fifteen minutes of waiting (and after I had already paid for my order), handed me the appetizer I had ordered and told me that they couldn't make a shake for me because the ice cream machine was broken. I told them I didn't want any of it then, and could they void the order from my credit card? She was a bit rude about it, but she did do it... SLOOOOOOWWWWLY. It took another 10 minutes. This last time (May 25, 2015), we got there at 10:30 in the morning, and it took 9 minutes (after pressing the red button) for anyone to take our order. We noticed that other people also thought their buttons were broken and kept moving to different stations... to no avail. The woman who took our order was slow and rude over the intercom. To the gap toothed girl with the uneven makeup that laughed at me and tried to convince me that vanilla ice cream was actually dark chocolate, along with the rest of the sonic crew at this location that laughed and snickered at me instead of helping me or asking what I needed help with, I hope you have no other ambitions for the rest of your life. We ordered two custard concrete ice creams-one was supposed to be dark chocolate which came out as "white as a baby's butt vanilla", still, 3/4 filled with vanilla icecream. On top of that my vanilla Heath concrete custard was FILLED with white powder. Maybe flour? I know it did not taste like vanilla. Then our food...the burger we got was black and burnt through, and the hot dogs we received were gray and purple in color...
