Worst customer service for a breakfast spot in Danbury. Made a reservation but it was not honored because there were "too many people waiting" for it to be honored. So when I asked why take reservations, she said if no one was waiting then I could be seated. Hmmm, someone should probably explain to them the concept of reservations. It's a shame too because the food is very good but every time I've been there the wait staff has been slow and disorganized and you can always hear the owner berating someone in the kitchen. I can deal with all of that but being rude, especially when I'm standing there with a toddler, just isn't acceptable. I hope the owner reads this and learns something from it. Good spot for breakfast. The food is always delicious. The only downside is they don't have enough staff to attend to all the customers. If you don't have to be some where it's worth the food. If you're in a hurry you're better off going to one of the local diner's. read more

This is a regular spot for me and my family. The atmosphere is quaint and the servers are awesome. Friendly service is what can always be expected. Even though the owner is a Yankee fan he makes everyone feel at home, even Red Sox fans like me. read more

I love a good breakfast, and Danbury has few places that draw me for this meal. There used to be a great place downtown, but it long ago closed. Now, I go to Sonny's when I have a hankering for breakfast. He has a Southern-style menu, including grits and biscuits and sausage gravy. We've never found a place in the Northeast that can do justice for the gravy. But Sonny's is close to the real thing. The biscuit situation up here, though, is always the same. In the South, they bring plenty of big, fluffy, homemade biscuits for the gravy. The ones brought out here are puny and always look like they come from a can. I love his grits, though. Very good. The eggs benedict is good, although the sauce is kind of an odd color and there's too much of it. They will cook to order, so when my daughter asked for crispy bacon, she got it. Service can be hit or miss. Usually it's a hit. But yesterday it was a miss as once we got seated and got our drinks, the server never came back. Sat there twiddling our thumbs a little. Had to ask another server who was passing by to take our order. She did, and she was wonderfully attentive, especially to our daughter. Hostess was terrific, too. I've had lunch here, too. Great place for a burger, a club and some fantastic onion rings. Sonny is a great guy, too. Always comes out of the kitchen to say hi and ask how are things. read more

I am so disappointed this place had great reviews and what a rip off!!!! We were the only two people in there and it still took 10 minutes to get a menu and 30 minutes for them to take our order!! When our food came it was room temperature at best and had no taste. My Belgian waffle tasted funny. It was either the frozen kind or they weren't cleaning the grill. Let me start by saying I never leave poor reviews, but this place was an experience worth complaining about. I would give a half star if I could... I felt like I was eating grease topped with homefries ... Also when you order the corner beef hash and then over hear the head "cook" / owner say "I can't believe anyone eats this s**t"...it's a turn off. Awful food. Excellent service. The cook is owner of the restaurant and proud of his work. He makes his rounds to everyone and holds conversation which I like as this keeps the air light-hearted and amusing. Its not hard to see why there are so many regulars. My suggestion to try the Sonny Special with cheese...mmmm good! read more

Due to the decent reviews of the place, we decided to stop by for breakfast and to my surprise it was a horrible experience. First, not enough staff; Second lack of customer service and Lastly, the atmosphere was too loud for a morning breakfast eatery. In my opinion I was not impressed at all with my meal. The potatoes and bacon were too greasy for my taste. To my astonishment, the cook was offended when a customer returned a bad batch of potatoes and started yelling like a mad man at the customer making everyone feel uncomfortable. This is one place I would not recommend anyone going. read more

Om, lette me just fill you in on a little secret: this place is eggcellent. I went there recently with several members of the Israeli spray tanning club and it was awesome. The crowd the place attracts is terrific - we sausage nice people when we went. The chef Sonny is there every day, rain-sleet-or-snow, smiling all the time and cooking great food for people. It takes a lot of grits to do what he does. His skillet cooking all the breakfast dishes is impressive, but Sonny's real bread & butter is biscuits in my view - my-oh-my they are always bacon up something good in that oven! Anyway, don't waffle - just go there. My only issue is that they mispeled Sunny in the name of the restaurant and instead of acknowledging the mistake, they insist they did it on purpose. This irks me because I think people should acknowledge their mistakes and I am a stickler for speling. read more

Solid is the first word that comes to mind. I was passing through in my travels and stopped for breakfast. I had the Italian Omelette and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Simple as that may seem not many places get it right but this one does. I would have given them four stars but I also had a side pancake. Pancake did not impress me, too dense and thick for my taste. Been visiting this spot for years. Recently went with a friend for breakfast and ordered an omelet. The scrambled egg that the veggies were wrapped in was runny. I told the waitress and she was super apologetic and told me she would have it fixed right away. Brought me my same omelet just cooked a little longer. Then the cook/owner came out and told me that with the tomato and spinach that there could me some water in the omelet and that next time to order it well done. Firstly, the eggs were gooey and runny and secondly, I don't think that I should have to order the eggs in my omelet well done just to get it cooked correctly. Try being thorough and not insinuating that your customer is an idiot who doesn't know what cooked scrambled eggs are. Sad to say, last time I go there. read more

I heard about this place through yelp and decided to give it a try. I absolutely love breakfast joints and unfortunately I did not get to try the food here I was seated after waiting 20 min which was fine because of how busy it was but it was not okay when they didn't even take my order. Two couples who got in after I were both seated near me and got there drink and food order taken right away! I then asked a random waitress when will someone take our order and she said someone will be right with you. So I waited but no one came so I got up and left. Highly disappointed. First and last time visiting this establishment. After not receiving any service for the first 20 minutes we had to call over the waitress who was eating and twirling her hair behind the counter. After finally placing our order we waited another 15 minutes to get a refill on our orange juice- by the same condescending waitress who wiped the bottom of her shoe and then continued to handle the silverware... Just as repulsive as their bathroom. The food finally came in which my veggie omelette came stuffed with undercooked eggs and egg shells. The only positive remark I can make is the owner came out to make sure every local and regulars food was good. read more
