The food is good, and the waitors/waitresses are somewhat attentive but I always seem to get sick every time I eat here. I've only been twice and both times I've gotten sick. I decided to give it another shot and see if it was a one time thing. No. Went tonight and sure enough I got sick. I did notice however that my pork was barely cooked as it was 98% pink and 2% cooked. I am thinking that is the reason why I'm getting sick plus the fact that it has been poorly rated by the food critic multiple times. I can assure you that I won't be back. read more

Went today and it was very busy. I had a coupon for a free sandwich I found on the internet but later found out it was a scam and not valid. It was embarrassing for me but the managers and waiter made it so much better. They honored the coupon anyway and was so very nice and kind thru the process. They did not have to honor my invalid coupon but they did and went above and beyond my expectations with their forgivingness. Our waiter was exceptional along with everyone there even on a day when they were filming a party and it was police officer day. Oh.... the food was excellent as it is every time I go. I stopped in here because not really much else to eat in area besides long John Silvers. So... the wait was 5 min on a friday night. Not bad, waitress took my drink order right away she came right back and I had question about the rib & wing dinner. She answered them right away like she really knew the menu. The wait for food was average but when they brought it they didnt have the wings. The waitress turned around to check on me and before i could say anything she said "they brought you the wrong thing" ill be right back. And she did come right back with my wings. My family and I order lunch from Sonny's two or three times a week. (We're big barbecue fans) They never disappoint, hot and delicious food every time! On occasion we'll forego our usual and order some thing different from time to time. The other day for example we ordered their pulled chicken and it was a tad on the dry side, nothing a little BBQ sauce couldn't fix, but I've never had pulled chicken from anywhere that wasn't on the dry side; so I can't blame them for that. Delicious Southern BBQ and traditional sides at very reasonable prices. Baby back and St Louis style ribs are always a hit but so is the chicken, sliced pork, and brisket. French fries are some of the best you will find anywhere. Baked beans are a meal with plenty of meat mixed in them and spiced perfectly. Fried okra, corn fritters, garlic bread, cornbread, huge salad bar, perfect sweet iced tea and more - definitely something for everyone even picky eaters. I give this location 5 stars because of the food and bar staff. The bar is the best place to sit and you will be taken care of. Tried the dining room a few times and it was ok. I've visited this location before and had other dishes. Today I had the chicken and it was very dry and tough. The server mentioned that they have had some changes and no longer marinate the chicken. I love this place. The baby back ribs are not fatty, the baked beans taste great, and the fries are tasty even though I know I shouldn't eat anything fried. Service is pretty good at lunch time and they always ask if you want a drink to go. Still haven't gotten used to that. read more

Oops ya did it again.....we drifted from Sonny's for a fairly long time, yrs. We went back recently seeing a new menu advertised. We had a very good meal the first time back. We are there 3 times over several weeks. The 3rd time, yesterday I went thru the drive thru Friday 4/17/15 on the way home after work. Got home, opened the food up and in a word crap! The chicken was uncooked the skin was fleshy with bbq smeared all over it. Almost like they were hiding the fleshy unsmoked skin. Down in the joints of the meat there was red uncooked "stuff". I was just bad, half ass cooked food. My ribs w/smoked wings. The ribs were cut from the very end so they were small. They were over cooked like they were last night. Again slathered with bbq sauce to "hide?" the crapy dried out meat?! The fries were not hot and mushy. The wings were tiny and dried out. The beans and Mac n Cheese was good. 31$ and some change!!! I call today from Georgia wanting to pay for 2 meals for my sister-in-laws birthday today. She is 78 yrs. old today and her husband has cancer and not doing good. I talked to Louis the Manager and told him my wish. He said they did not take credit cards over the phone. He said he was going to call her and tell her she has two meals paid for and could pick up when she wanted too. Louis is paying for the meals and telling her they are from myself and my husband. We have eaten here several times when in town and it is good. Now it is even higher on my list. It is good to know there is still good people left in this world. She called me and was so happy! Allana you suck as a waitress. Now here is why. You don't take 15 minutes to deliver drinks to the table. You also don't sit in the kitchen with our plates talking to your coworkers while we're waiting. And we know this because we could see you! I can't believe the lack of professionalism that you show. This was one of the worst experiences at this restaurant ever. I've had slow service at the store before but God help me you are the slowest. My fiance just got off of work and hungry and you're taking your sweet ass time talking to other employees. We decided to try this place again after our last bad experience we will most likely never come back to your store ever again. Even though you're the only Sonnys in 30 miles. This is not southern pulled pork I ordered the pulled pork sandwich it had no taste what so ever no smoke no seasoning nothing and the meat texture was more like it was bake in a oven they even have the chopped logs of wood sitting there for show that is about it sorry lost in the garbage can read more

Great casual BBQ place with reasonable prices. We had chicken, ribs and shrimp. The ribs were excellent, the chicken was on the dry side but very flavorful and the shrimp was good but could have been better (of course, they do specialize in BBQ, not seafood, so no biggie). They also offer several options in pork and beef. A selection of 4 different and tasty sauces was on our table. Tried them all and decided "Sweet" was best. Sides? Mac n cheese was recommended but not very good. Coleslaw was delish, fries and green beans were tasty. Service was awesome! Go here again? You bet! Fight in the kitchen!! Our food was brought out- then lots of yelling from the kitchen. We were seated right by hostess stand and could see and hear pretty well. My first thought was a kitchen fire. Then, several dining room staff went over to pickup window and watched or whatever. I considered calling police when realized it was a fight. Police did arrive shortly. I hope it was a manager that called- but could have been a customer. NO staff apologized for disturbance. NO manager or server said a word to us. We finished our meals- my husband and I not really at ease. He stayed to pay. I took the kids to the car and we had to pass the police car and "some guy" likely a Sonny's cook on the phone pacing back and forth. While the interior appearance is nice and my son likes the pulled pork-- It's not enough for us to go back and eat inside. My husband took me here on my birthday and the food was really good! However what I wanted was ribs and smoked wings. They were OUT OF RIBS ON A TUESDAY, go figure, and the Manager, Lou Jackson would not allow me to substitute anything for them. So in order to cobble together what I wanted I had to spend 50 percent more when I substituted brisket - normally the same price as ribs. Mr. Jackson, you need to go find a new job unrelated to customer service. Do you know how many MILLIONS of dollars Sonny's spends on advertising to get new customers? Great as always. The corn sucks, you would think with Zellwood up the street it would always be a fresh local product. Outside of that the rest is some of the best BBQ you can get. I did all-you-can force into Ribs and tried all of the meats. I like how they moved from over saucing to dry rubs and just smoke. You can add all of the sauce you want on your own. BBQ beans are awesome, too. They just need to freshen up their corn. Service was a bit faster than expected. I'm usually in on a Sunday afternoon, this week was Sunday evening. Avoid Sunday 2-430ish at all cost. It is too crowded and noisy. Otherwise great overall experience for quick casual dining at an affordable price. read more
