Received RAW broccoli. I ordered takeout because I wasn't interested in cooking my dinner tonight. Guess I'll be cooking after all.

This location is SO hit or miss. Mostly miss. Tonight we received RAW broccoli with our (to-go) meal. I ordered pulled chicken, and after a solid 10 minute wait at the window, I was told there was no pulled chicken, so I switched to brisket. Then after another long wait, they magically produced pulled chicken, which was absolutely horrible, cold, and undercooked, nothing like the pulled chicken we are used to. Our orders are also often wrong in some way shape or form. This is why I don't like tip culture - we are asked for a tip before we even receive the food. I always end up happy I don't tip at the drive through - we always seem to end up with situations like this. Why tip for uncooked and incorrect orders?

We sat at the bar and we're served right away. We had a brisket, wings and BBQ ribs basket and it was delicious. Very clean establishment with plenty of tables and rooms for service. Good selection of beers, both national and local.

Sonny's BBQ 150 Sheriff Dr., Melbourne, FL 32940 .5 Stars (Chain restaurant review) ***SWILL ALERT*** When the name of Sonny's BBQ blinked back at me from my random name generator I was filled with a sense of anticipation. According to the internet, they were founded right here in the Sunshine State by Floyd "Sunny" Tillman in 1968, with the first location being in Gainesville. Bob Yarmuth purchased the company in 1991 and continues as owner and CEO today. As of 2016, they have 113 locations across eight Southeastern states and are headquartered in Maitland, FL. So, while this may be a regional chain, it's still a local joint and I love patronizing local businesses. My service pro for the day was Melva and she is outstanding. I ordered a Sonny's Sampler with all the meats (I know you said that in the Arby's commercial voice) along with sides of slaw and baked beans and one Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a side of Tater Tots. I sat back and relaxed while Melva ran my order back (not literally, but she did hustle). I noticed how clean, neat and well-lit the place was. It really was nice to sit inside and I was sure, with 113 locations, the food was going to be at least above average. I have to stop looking ahead like this as I was so incredibly wrong about this place. Melva was soon seen bringing my order over so I prepared myself for the task at hand. Everything smelled as it should and who doesn't love the smell of BBQ? I was actually salivating just a bit when I put the first bite of pulled pork from Sonny's Sampler. The meat was slimy; in fact, it all was. The only way you get slimy meat is if it is frozen and reheated in the microwave. They served a fulsome amount, but if it isn't edible, is it a good value for the money? I did not try the sliced brisket, chicken, or ribs, as the pulled pork was enough slime for the day. I took a taste of the slaw and found it to be your average run-of-the-mill food service bottom-of-the-barrel industrial strength slop I wouldn't offer to a dog if I had one. The beans were overcooked and had the consistency of soft-serve ice cream. Forcing myself to continue the job at hand, I grabbed the Brisket Grilled Cheese and took a sample bite. This was, to quote the menu, "a cheesy blend of chopped brisket, queso and shredded cheddar, topped with sliced cheddar and served on garlic bread." Now, if that doesn't sound tasty as all get out, I'm a monkey's uncle. I am sure it would have been had it been cooked properly. As overdone as it was, it was hard to tell exactly what it was supposed to be other than old shoe leather. The Big Boy says, "I didn't think there could be worse BBQ than BB Rads, but this swill is not fit for human consumption, animal consumption, or any other life form for that matter!"

Laid back and slightly quiet today in restaurant. But seems there are pretty busy with orders for pick up. They took a while to get us seated. But I'm here bc of the smoked wings and crinkle fries

Wednesday night . Sat at bar. I had the Sonny's Sampler. Started with a side salad. Then the main course, 1/4 white chicken, excellent. Sliced brisket, very good. Sliced pork, a little fatty but good . Green beans very good . Bartender, pretty girl with black hair , did a great job .

We've been having family drive big takeout orders down here from this location whenever they visit and it is just as good as I remember. The ribs are fall off the bone tender, and the barbecue sauce is the perfect blend of sweet, savory, and smoky. The cornbread is soft and sweet, the toast is buttery and thick, the coleslaw is chopped small and not too wet or too celery heavy. And the BEANS. I love these baked beans. They have pieces of pork in them and are perfect. I could eat an order of just beans and be happy. I've also recently discovered their sausages, which pair so well with the spicy barbecue. Their coconut cream pie and chocolate pie are delightful too. I've never eaten in here so I can't speak to the actual restaurant experience. That being said, the staff do go out of their way to pack the orders in the catering trays when they hear we're taking it long distance. We have sometimes had issues with pieces of the order getting left out, but they've always been very good about making it up to us. I have no good pictures of the food because I inhale it the second it arrives. Trust my one rib photo and twenty years of loyalty to the Woody's name and give them a try!

Support the local places that are grinding day in and day out to earn your dollar. Woody's has an ENORMOUS menu with just about anything (baby back ribs and half chicken and sweet potatoes are STANDOUTS) and the prices are EXTREMELY fair for this economy. Clean and cozy restaurant, not loud, clean bathrooms, too. No need to look ANYWHERE else for BBQ.

We visited Charlie & Jake's on Father's Day and first impressions were great. The place was spotless, had that rustic barbecue-joint vibe, and despite the holiday crowd, we were seated quickly and greeted right away by a friendly, professional server. Service was pleasant, but our drinks seemed to be playing hide-and-seek. We had to ask for refills every single time we wanted one. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered the smoked Old Fashioned, which arrived with enough dramatic presentation to make nearby tables stop and stare. Absolutely worth ordering. A small hiccup: when I unwrapped my utensils, the knife appeared to have some sort of residue on it. Since I didn't actually need the knife, I didn't ask for a replacement, but it was worth mentioning. Now let's talk about the star of the show: the smoked chicken. Holy smoke signals, Batman. This was hands-down the best smoked chicken I've ever eaten. Moist, flavorful, perfectly cooked. I would happily order it every week and never get tired of it. My sides were collard greens and a baked sweet potato, both served in adorable metal measuring cups. The sweet potato was good. The greens were fine, but could have used a little more seasoning and personality. My husband ordered one of the meat platters. He enjoyed it, but there wasn't anything that inspired a speech, tears, or vows of lifelong devotion. The toast, however, nearly drowned itself in butter. I wasn't aware bread could absorb that much liquid and still maintain structural integrity. It was literally dripping when he took a bite. Somewhere between toast and sponge. My hush puppies were unfortunately the low point of the meal. They tasted like someone mixed flour and water, formed little balls, and introduced them to a deep fryer. They desperately needed seasoning and I didn't finish them. The fried pickle appetizer was excellent and the portion was generous enough to feed a small pickle-loving village. When the server dropped off the check, we politely declined. We don't leave restaurants without dessert unless there's a natural disaster involved. My husband ordered the banana pudding, which came in a cute square glass container and was very enjoyable. My daughter ordered the peach cobbler. Calling it "peach" felt a little optimistic. There were approximately two peach slices in a mountain of cobbler topping. She loves crust, so she wasn't upset, but if you're expecting fruit, bring a magnifying glass. The filling itself could have used more flavor and some warm spices, and it was absolutely swimming in caramel sauce. A good vanilla bean ice cream would have elevated the whole thing. My son ordered the peanut butter chocolate pie and immediately entered a state of dessert enlightenment. Deep peanut butter flavor, rich chocolate, absolutely fantastic. Final takeaway: Order the smoked Old Fashioned. Order the smoked chicken. Order the peanut butter chocolate pie. Maybe don't order the hush puppies unless they've found a spice rack since Father's Day. Overall, a clean restaurant, friendly service, excellent atmosphere, and a few standout menu items that are worth coming back for.

I bit into the ribs, nicely seasoned, very juicy when I added my mild sauce. I was able to try the sliced beef and pork, which was very good also. The sides were a little meh for the exception of the baked potatoes. We received nice generous portions and ended up taking half of it back to the hotel. Let's talk about our server.
