I LOVED everything at this place. The second we walked in for lunch, the first thing my fiancé said is "this place is SO clean!" We got an appetizer (not pictured) of the loaded tots with brisket which I absolutely recommend. Then I got the 1/4lb. chicken and 1/4 lb. Pulled pork with beans and green beans, and my fiancé got brisket grilled cheese with Mac and cheese and half slab baby back ribs with beans and Mac and cheese. I loved the Mac and cheese and green beans, but the regular beans were yummy but just weren't my speed. Would probably get a different side but again it was delicious. We had a really nice waitress and she got around to us really quick even though she was slammed. I've always liked Sonny's and I I have been to this one before but it has been a long while since I have been. The honest review is the food wasn't as stellar as it has been at other locations. The other problem being is it seems as though they really couldn't get the order right. I don't know if the waitress wrote things down wrong or if the cooks weren't getting it right, but one of our orders was wrong and the table across from us had the same problem. I used to like their baked beans, but I certainly wouldn't order them again. Our best experience was the fried okra. Crispy and tasty. Dipped in ranch was just down right delicious! Since my last review, the food quality has improved, immensely. Thank goodness! We stopped for a little BBQ and their awesome salad bar. This location is always spotlessly clean and very up-scale for a BBQ joint. I ordered their Big Deal (a sandwich, side and drink) ($9.29) with the salad bar (which is an up-charge of $3.99). I opted for the sliced pork and French fries. The pork was moist, tender and awesome. (see pic) The salad bar was fine but, for some reason, they now dice their tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers. I do not like it! I prefer my veggies recognizable. The tomatoes looked like salsa. You would think that dicing the veggies would increase oxidation and thus hasten spoilage. Anyway, the salad bar was immaculate and the other items were appealing. My better half decided on the Salad Bar with a side of sliced pork. ($11.99) The pork was also moist and delicious. After doing the math, the salad bar with a side of sliced pork plus a drink was more expense than the Big Deal with the salad bar add-on. Go figure. Yes, I'm one of those guys who does the math! Our lunch came to a little under $30 before tip and it was worth every nickle. If you decide to eat at a Sonny's, I would recommend this location, without a doubt. read more

First time going to any Sonny's BBQ. And...I thought it was fantastic. Chain bbq or any chain restaurant usually is not my fav but a friend of mine raved about Sonny's. Tried this place out the other day and I have to say it's good. I love the Brisket and the sides were great. Look forward to trying the Baby Back Ribs. They give you a variety of BBQ sauces and have a good selection of choices. I picked up my meal, but while inside it looked like a great places to eat in as well. Staff as very friendly and look out for the customer. If BBQ is your thing then come by this place and get your grub on. They even have a drive through. We've been coming here for years and enjoy the low prices and fine food. The service is always very good and the food selection is just what we want on a lazy afternoon. The restaurant recently underwent a rehab, and now the lights above each table cast an unattractive shade on your food. The color temperature is not inviting. They should have bought warmer bulbs. As a regular Sonny's customer, I have to tell you the service at the Palm Harbor location has been on a noticeable decline. It was so bad this time we left before even having a server approach our table. We arrived at 1:00 on Thursday, there was a short wait to get a table, no problem, it's lunchtime. We were seated in the back room. Eventually as we were waiting to be greeted and served three other groups were seated in there as well. A couple behind us had a server bring them drinks and take their order. Another gentleman had a sever come to take his order but he moved tables because he saw a friend of his. A third gentleman whom was the last of the people I mentioned seated, waited 5 minutes and asked us if a server had come to our table yet. We said no and he left. After he left another server came in saw his empty table, took the menu and left the room. Still not even addressing us. We waited a few more minutes to see if any server would be back. No one. We left. the host, seeming clueless said, have a good day! The restaurant has good food, I know we've been there many times, but lately service has really been poor. I guess I'll have to get me BBQ either at another location or a different restaurant. read more

This location is close to our house and kind of our go to for BBQ. We usually order it and pick it up. I know a lot of people will say there are better BBQ places out there but we have never had bad food here. On this occasion I ordered the brisket dinner, my husband got pork 3 days and we ordered a pound of ribs. All the meat was cooked perfectly. We also had enough food for two dinners. Both my husband and I are a big fans of their beans. We also each got corn as our other side. That was the one thing that I didn't really like. To me, the corn was overdone but that is just the way my husband likes it. Another thing I am a fan of is their sauce. I love the sizzlin' sauce. If you want to dine at the restaurant, they have a nice dining room, a bar with a lot of seating and a couple tvs to watch games, and an outside area. I've been coming to tjis location for years for lunch. There must have been confusion today as I waited at the bar to order food. I finally got my favorote ice tea and then walked out 20 minutes later as no one came back to take my order or even asked if I had been helped. Love that this Sonny's offers a drive thru for fast service! We sat on the patio with our dog (dog friendly establishments are huge pluses in my book) and we're served by the bartender inside. The table outside was pretty dirty but our server took notice and cleaned it up for us. We ordered ribs and sliced pork meals. Every thing came out great including our sides (Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, French fries). Our server said the beers were BOGO and we told her to give us one of the BOGOs now and then if we wanted another round we'd order it, which we never did but when the bill came she charged us both for the BOGO so essentially we both should of gotten another beer for free but never did and we didn't have time to ask for them so that was a little annoying because we wouldn't of ordered them in the first place if we knew that was going to be the Update: ask for Jasmin as your server she was wonderful, very attentive, and super sweet! read more

I have been going to this Sonny's for many, many years. They recently remodeled the inside, so I had to check it out and see what was new. First, the new look is fantastic, modern for what you would expect at a BBQ place. The service is always excellent, all though, on this visit the server never cleaned my husband rib bones off the table and it grossed me out a bit. You know, I have to say that this is very good bbq. We tried out Sonny's from a recommendation of a friend. We were not sorry. The ribs are tender and fantastic, the salad bar plentiful, the baked beans really tasty. I wasn't as crazy about their green beans, thinking they were a little bland and needing seasoning but the ribs certainly made up for it. The ribs are a wet rib, seasoned nicely with their bbq sauce. My husband's pulled pork was also very tasty with a nice smoky flavor. I stopped by today to pick up some baby back ribs for some friends for lunch - a slab of ribs was just over $17.00 and came piping hot and smelling divine! "Sizzlin" wasn't very hot at all. Your best choice is the "Smokin' ". It did have a nice smoke flavor to it. I had the beef brisket sandwich. The beef was wonderfully tender but lacked any smoke of its own. The "redneck egg roll" appetizer was unique and a pick. It is pulled pork, coleslaw and pepper jack cheese served with a smokey ranch dipping sauce. If you craving good BBQ, this will work.
