While I can't say I was a huge fan of the brisket that I ordered, the sides that came with it were pretty good. I had the mac and cheese, cole slaw, and corn bread. My husband and I have been going to this Sonny's location since 2005 but no more. It's now corporate owned--some of the best "sides" have been removed; and the inside has been remodeled to look like a factory. The comfortable booths have been replaced with tables in an open setting which lacks privacy and makes conversations hard to hear. The bar has been enlarged which has replaced some of the seating and makes for longer waits for a table. There was a long wait on our visit and only three chairs to use in the wait area--not very welcoming. If you sit in the row by the salad bar you get an outside view of the garbage area which looks like the border wall. The food is still pretty good, but this rating applies to the changes which certainly aren't for the better! read more

Their food is definitely not as good as it used to be - but then what is? More importantly on July 23 we went there for lunch. We used my business credit card and in less than 24 hours we were notified that someone was trying to make a large online purchase. We confirmed it was not us and the bank stopped the card. Can happen anywhere right? Well the last time it happened was a few weeks prior AGAIN less than 24 hours of eating at Sonny's the card was hacked. I called the manager "Laura" today to tell her what happened- I DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING BUT TO ALERT HER and her response was "it couldn't have happened here" - really HOW does she know that? We are very protective of our credit. She could have said I'm sorry if it happened here, I'll make corporate aware - but nope - "it couldn't have happened here". I always order the full rack of baby back ribs! Don't know about their other ribs, but these are always tender, never tough or over cooked. My husband gets the salad bar and the pulled pork on the side and we have never been disappointed there, either. The sides are always delicious and we've only had slow service maybe a couple of times out of the dozens we've been there. The new smoked wings we tried as an appetizer recently were a pleasant surprise and, honestly, I could've downed 2 dozen they were so flavorful and tender! Can't say enough about our experiences, but then again we go on off nights and/or early before the dinner rush. We went to this Sonny's restaurant a few days during the week in hopes that after 20+ years of not going to a Sonny's because of terrible dried out food that needed a ton of BBQ sauce to make it tolerable. We hoped that with the remodeling of the restaurants that the food would've improved too. Unfortunately, the food has not improved. Still dried out with not much flavor. The service was not the best either. It seemed they were unstaffed. The nice Server that took care of us at the Bar, was running around like crazy, taking care of customers at the Bar with not just drink orders but meals too, as well as drinks for the dining room and taking care of the Takeout orders. And the Bar set up is ridiculous, if you order a drink that needs soda the Server who is handling the Bar has to leave the Bar and go back into the Kitchen area to get the soda. The nice Server that was handling the Bar the evening we were there dealt with about 10 customers at the Bar along with everything else I mentioned previously, and there wasn't enough staff to assist her. We will definitely NOT be returning to ANY Sonny's BBQ again!!!!! read more

First time trying Sonny's in many years I went to one in Orlando and didn't care for it at all,but everyone deserves a second chance. We were greeted with a smile seated promptly. Looking over the menu I found many BBQ dishes but found that if you are not a big fan of BBQ you better go somewhere else.I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, my husband the salad bar with a meat side which ended up being a half chicken breast.He really enjoyed the salad especially the bread pudding.I was pleasantly surprised to find everything was very good, they did not put very much sauce on sandwich but plenty of sauce (4 different kinds) on the table.Did not know about a special they serve that is on the menu for 4 people but found out it is also available for 2. On 2/22/202 @ 3:00pm we noticed Sonnys bbq had re-opened since the renovation. The hostess greeted us and we asked to be seated in a booth. She said they were occupied and only had tables. We pointed out a whole row of booths were vacant and she said we couldn't sit there because the server for that area wouldn't be in till 4pm. She seated us at a table. Since the renovation more tables and red plastic chairs were added and booths have lessened. About ten mins after we were seated a booth opened up and a very nice server named Andrew said he will get the booth cleaned and we can sit there. Sitting there we heard MANY customers say they do not like the lack of booths. If you're going to have tables at least have sturdy chairs. I think Sonnys will find the tables and less booths will hurt their business. I give 5 stars to the food and to the server. Andrew was amazing and polite from start to finish. Upon leaving around 4pm the foyer was filled with seated customers lined up against the wall waiting for BOOTHS. I heard a couple say there was a 45+ minute wait and they turned around to walk out. When we were walking out we noticed the tables were empty and booths were full. I'm all about giving a place a fresher look however all change isn't advantageous to the business. Give people what they want. Comfort and function. The women's bathroom was far from being finished. There was thick white dust all over everything. One toilet was not even working. I know time is money especially for a business but the bathrooms could have been more tidy. We love to eat at Sonnys and we will continue of course however we don't like the lack of seating/booths. My wife, my friend and I went to sonny's in Palm Harbor and enjoyed the all you can eat baby back ribs for $16.99 plus a $3.00 up charge. We just happen to be in the Springhill area and decided to go to that sonny's location. We were told that we could NOT have all you can eat baby back ribs. Then we were told we could have them for $25.00. I wanted to leave at that point. We stayed but I settled for chicken. never going back. sticking to Palm Harbor location. So,went to dinner tonight, was sat all the way in the back, ok,no biggie, the waitress took 15 min to come to the table, ordered drinks,took 15 more min to come back with them. Was missing in action for another 20 min, came back ordered our meals, took 45 more min to get our food,the place wasn't even that busy tonight. So,everyone's food came like it was supposed to ,my daughters well done burger looked like a brisket of charcoal,I understand well done to be well cooked,but not a burnt hockey puck.Then to top that off there was not even any fries on the plate,how could you have missed that?So,anyway, the waitress was missing in action most of the time,We finally asked her to send the burger back and get a un-charred burger, and she was nice about it, but, no coming to our table ,no asking us if we needed drink refills, or any anything, there was no conversation except ordering.I don't remember her name,but maybe she was new, idk, but it was just a looong time waiting between time,and its like she vanished,the other girl working the same side came out many times for her tables,i am not asking to be bugged 100 times during my meal,but at least remember us being there. She could have came over and said I am sorry the food will be a few more min, or lemme go check on your food, or would you like some bread while you wait,or anything, It was just a totally long night sitting and waiting,never have we ever had this experience here.I guess we are just old fashioned and like to be noticed and waited on. Just had the worst experience I ever had eating here today I have eaten here numerous times and had wonderful service and good food but today was horrible. we ordered our food it came out in a timely fashion the gentlemen seem to be nice at first that was our waiter but at the end of the day when I showed him the brisket that was overcooked and I was displeased with he rolled his eyes over my shoulder which was seen by my father-in-law who asked us to take him out to eat. We ask for the manager and the manager came my wife was up at the salad bar and the whole place was a roar in the kitchen talking about our table and how are brisket sucked as the manager came we informed her that would she had also heard and told them to be quiet and then laughing. the manager said she would correct the issue she offered us some baby back ribs and place of the brisket which we didn't accept we were just appalled by the behavior of our waiter and the staff for the manager seemed like she was wonderful and hopefully she will address this issue this waiter needs to be fired. read more

I arrived at 2:30 pm ( after lunch crowd ) 3 members of the staff was at the bar talking to the bartender . she was more interested in talking to the other employees than taking care of customer. ask for a un sweet ice tea with lemon as I always do. she brought the ice tea it was as sweet as could be ( I have diabetes). she again started talking to other employees I was looking at menu. but as I always do I order the chicken. she came back over about 10 min later after I tried the tea and ask what I wanted to order. I was afraid if she was that reoccupied that she got the tea wrong she would get the order wrong. I said I would like the bill. she ask if I wanted a to go cup for the tea? I said it was sweet tea I ordered unsweet tea. she said that would be $2.75. it is a shame we cannot get one restaurant in springhill that is wanting to take care of customer. will not be back . go at your own risk read more
