Sonny's is definitely a staple within the neighborhood. The back area is the home to many different events including a silent bookclub. It's also easy to rent for group events. The square pizza slices are popular and can be ordered by the slice or by the full pizza. I personally think the pizzas are good but you get full quickly. I wish there was a thinner slice option. For their drinks, they have a decent wine program and some cocktails. The service is quick since you generally order by QR code or go up to the bar.

Super cute outdoor space & great pizza!! Such a cute old feeling aesthetic. I got a slice of pepperoni for $5, which was good and a decent portion. Would come back for the vibes and good pizza!

Our date night included playing BINGO at this location! :) Bingo night was hosted by "Mama's kitchen" which was really fun. First time at Sonny's. When you walk in, it's a food seating area and where you can order food. When you walk down left hallway, it's like you enter a speak easy. It's another part of the restaurant, which has semi circle cushioned booths and is a calming area. Keep going into the back and there's an outside area with a ton of cafeteria style tables and where we played Bingo. It's cold out, but there are overhead heaters Food was good! I had a single slice of pepperoni pizza, which was filling. I also had a small Cesar salad, that was big enough for 2 people You can scan the menu at the table and order via your phone - keeping the tab open or close it out. Persons bring your food/drinks to your numbered table. Gratuity is already included! Look for street parking

Love Sonny's but so surprised that they don't have vegan pizza! You can order a pizza with red sauce and arugula on top tho but slightly disappointing

Everything was delicious, fast, and the ambiance during trivia was great. Will definitely be coming back!

The pizza and Caesar salad were both great, and the atmosphere inside was casual -- a solid spot to check out in Park View. The outdoor patio was closed for a private event, but we were able to sit inside near the indoor patio. There's limited seating, but we managed to grab a table. I'd rate the pizza an 8 out of 10 and would definitely come back for more pizza and their natural wine selection

Sunny Pizza on Georgia Avenue is our second visit, and we've always enjoyed the pizza we've had there. In fact, I highly recommend it over any other pizza place in the Petworth area. However, my recent visit was a bit disappointing. My son ordered the Parmesan chicken, and he was extremely let down. The chicken was burnt and covered in tomato sauce to hide the fact that it was dry and overcooked. It's hard to cover up mistakes, and I think we would have noticed if they hadn't tried to hide it.

That pizza was so good! And it's such a cute spot! We tried a couple of their pizzas and each one was better than the last! Everyone was super friendly, and it wasn't bad finding a seat. They had multiple options from the main dining room, to the bar, to a covered patio out back! We ended up sitting in the bar, which was nice because they had a wider drink selection. The service was very attentive. The food was great, and the drinks were great too. They had a long list of apéritif and soda options, which I haven't really seen other places, but it was a nice refreshing Option. I'd highly recommend going!

Checked here earlier today on my walk through the neighborhood. I was craving a slice of cheese pizza and googled what was close by. This was one minute away, so I decided to go with it. It was pretty empty when I went inside, so I didn't have to wait. I ordered a slice of pizza and decided to eat inside. The inside is very large, and it seems eclectic to me. I definitely think it's the type of place you can come with a large group and relax. My pizza came out pretty shortly after, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a square pizza. It wasn't too big like I thought it would be. It was decent although I'd like more cheese on mine. I noticed on the menu, they have arugula pizza with chili oil and had I actually looked at the menu I would have went with that. I'll go back soon and try that slice, and I'd come back with a friend or two next time.

Great outdoor space. A lot of people were hosting baby showers and birthday parties- so it's a flexible venue. There's also a lounge/chic vibe in another room and then a more low key bar vibe in another area! Lots of options. Pizza was crispy and flavorful!

This pizza place shares an outdoor covered space with Doubles Coffee. The seating is open and casual which is convenient for a "pizza by the slice" and beer. They have happy hour and the prices for a draft lager of $5 and $5 for a slice of "square" shaped Sicilian Pizza is good. The dough is light and not as heavy with lots of Pepperoni and Sauce. Food is served quickly along with Drinks ordering through the QR CODE. The Staff are friendly and welcoming in this casual environment and the prices are great for DC. Thank you for the bite.

I'm honestly always looking for new places to take a big group of friends for dinner or drinks and Sonny's has skyrocketed to the top of my list. A few notes from my visit: 1. You can order from a QR code but they also have waiters who stop by the table to take your order. Love the optionality, ensures that you're virtually never waiting for food or drinks. 2. The "lunch tray" style pizzas are super nostalgic, taste great, and are perfect for sharing. 3. Any place that has an interesting wine list that includes affordable local bottles is a winner in my book. Cocktails were also solid. 4. Gluten free pizza options means no one gets left out of the fun. Seriously - this place rules. Next time you're looking for a spot for a get together, run (don't walk) to Sonny's

    Michael Q.

We enjoyed the lunch tray style pizza, curvy (old world?) pepperoni that everyone loves, and both salad dressings. Seriously, the Caesar dressing was money. Sonny's entire dining room also FEELS like a lunch room with booths and a big common dining room. Unfortunately, we didn't see the value between the high wine/booze prices and added gratuity. Sonny's is the *first counter order restaurant (you also get/fill your own water) we've seen that adds a 20% gratuity. We'd encourage Sonny's to simply build in the 20% to their food cost to avoid sticker shock; it's confusing that the expos and ______ (we're unsure who else) receive 20% for walking your pizzas less than 20 feet from the kitchen to the table.

The RPG was a bit heavy on the mayo, next time would ask for less mayo but it was still delicious as a char su pork fan. This hit the mark. I heard good things about their sandwiches. My go to is normally Mangialardo's on Pennsylvania Ave in SE DC or Carl's Subbs on Rhode Island Ave in NE DC. I think I will stick to both of them next time. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me as a first timer but the sandwich was totally disapointing! NOT worth it, at all. I ordered a 9 inch capicola, ham, and cheese sub on the hard roll. The roll was very good and fresh but I couldn't taste the cheese or meat in the sandwich because there wasn't enough of it. I tasted the bread, the toppings of lettuce, tomato and onions. I decided to deconstruct the sandwich and found exactly 4 very thinly sliced pieces of meat and 2 very thinly sliced pieces of cheese as pictured clearly in the photographs. I also noticed that the they have different prices for the same type of meats. For example, they have a $29.99 per pound Capicola and one for $9.99 a pound. I asked which went on the sandwich and of course it was the cheaper one. That wasn't surprising and getting my sandwich back to the office. I decided not to eat the rest of the meatless sandwich and just take the loss. I wouldn't come back nor would I recommend a friend to try it
