This location was chosen by my sister and we ended up attending as a family. The downside about steakhouses is I'm a vegetarian and there is nearly nothing on the menu for me. We explained to the waiter that steamed veggies and rice is fine (since other locations offered this) and he said they don't have any rice that ISN'T already spoken for other meals. It was a weird way to put it, but we had understood. In the end, I got a plate of carrots and asparagus on a plate that was incredibly overcharged. It was a pretty sad meal compared to my group who were all full and happy. I ended up going to get food elsewhere after this because this was a plate of a side, and not a filling one at that. He asked if I wanted it boxed to go and it almost made me laugh but we ended up not getting a box. My sister had an amazing time which was great to know. 2/6 people in our group had their steak made incorrectly and ended up having upset stomachs from it since they didn't tolerate it well. They had ordered theirs medium, and instead they were more medium rare- leaning to rare. Sadly, even eating just some of the steak ended up bothering their stomachs. This was a let down especially since this is a steakhouse and there should be a level of mastery on levels of cooking and preparing it as such. Overall, half of our group was disappointed, but the other half was happy with the outcome. Wow wow wow I seriously cannot understand why anyone would leave a bad review on this place. First off, the entire restaurant has a beautiful view of the water. The entire restaurant has an indoor outdoor feel which just made our meal 10 times better. From the moment we walked in everyone greeted us kindly. Our server was very kind as well and cracked a few jokes with us. The entire time I was so confused as to why this place wasn't packed. Lastly, the best part, the steak!! We all ordered steak and lobster and a ton of sides. The sides were all good, not amazing, but not bad at all. The steak was perfectly cooked and had so much flavor! The macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi with sweet purple potato mash and saffron lilikoi sauce was so good, too, but if you're a red meat eater, and have to choose, go for the filet *chef's kiss*. Mac and cheese was good, too! For dessert, we got the plain cheesecake and mango sorbet to share for the table. Both so good, but if you have to choose, and if you like cheesecake, I'd recommend the cheesecake. Creamy and decadent texture... not super dense or super air-fluffed - absolutely perfect in my opinion. A year later - and wow - what a difference! The food, service, ambiance, and wine selection were all impeccable. The steaks were high quality and prepared perfectly, the brussel sprouts were seasoned and prepared well, the lobster tail was perfect, and the dessert of the layered cake was rich and delicious. We had dinner here on March 7th, celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Let me start by saying the view is absolutely incredible! We got a table right on the lake that comes with a great view of the waterfall. Absolutely no complaints there! Our Waitress was very nice and prompt. The reason they only get 2 stars was because of the food. I got the Wagyu Flat Iron Steak, and my Wife got the Prime Rib. Both were pretty bad. Both tasted like they had zero seasoning. We also got a huge baked potato to share, and it tasted and looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Very dry. That said, the Wedge salad was great, as were the cocktails. Sadly, for their prices, I expected much, much, much better. I'm not joking when I say the steaks at Sizzler are way better than Sonz. Could've just been "one of those nights", though. We had noted in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and they made a point to seat us next to the water. The atmosphere was lovely- it was dimly lit & quiet. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and made good recommendations. I had the shrimp scampi and was slightly disappointed because I felt like the shrimp was slightly overcooked and a bit chewy. Other than that, our experience was great. Over the past two years this place has been a favorite west side restaurant of mine. My boyfriend and I booked a same day reservation for 8:15pm since we finally had a day off together. We were so excited to eat some delicious food. First off, I hardly write bad reviews. I'm in the restaurant industry myself so I do recognize right from wrong. We also love eating out so it's not our first rodeo. On the way over we got delayed 15 min due to traffic and self parking lot was full so we advised hostess ahead of time that we were running behind for our reservation. Their last seating is at 8:45 so we figured we had time. Upon arrival the hostess barely greeted us, walked us to our table without saying one word, removed two settings and walked away. Weird - and that encounter started us on the wrong foot already. Justin was our server who quickly got things started as we were the last table to be sat, he was attentive to begin with but we already felt in a rush. We ordered our cocktails and they were very tasty, bread was dropped but they changed it from last time we were here. Next, we patiently awaited our split Caesar salad. We should've said something when Justin removed our salad fork and butter knife and replaced it with a steak knife but we thought maybe everything would come out at once. 20 minutes later and after we watched employees break down their sections, we knew something was wrong but had high hopes. Our entrees came out with the food runner and we explained we didn't receive our first course. He quickly asked what we ordered and took our entree back. We already knew the kitchen team wouldn't refire the steaks at this point. We were the last table. Salad hit the table, we weren't given proper silverware to enjoy. Justin checked in and we explained we didn't want each $85 dollar entree to come out cold and we wanted it remade. All he responded with was "we won't serve you cold steaks". Red flag. We knew for sure that our steaks along with our shrimp, Mac and cheese, and Brussels were sitting in the pass. Any server, cook, chef and or manager would know that 10 -12 minutes is a while for steaks to be sitting for. We got our entrees immediately after they cleared our salad, which confirmed we were right and it was sitting. We didn't get our silverware replaced still.... So we used our dirty fork to enjoy. Justin stayed behind to make sure our steaks were ok and not too cold. My filet was edible, my shrimp was cold but my boyfriend switched his with mine so I wouldn't complain. We were at the point where we didn't wanna wait longer than we already did so we enjoyed our "warm" steaks. Props to the kitchen team because they were cooked pretty perfectly however if it was hotter and fresh I would've been happier. They should've refired our entree, I would've understood if it was our fault but it wasn't. Sides were so much smaller than when we last dined in. My boyfriend never ate the cold shrimp lol. When checked upon again we ordered another round of cocktails and ended our evening there - we didn't want to order a round of desserts because we felt rushed out honestly. What started as a good date night turned into a whole thing we wouldn't want anyone to experience. We felt slighted about not making a fuss about the food but we know how it is working in a restaurant and didn't want to be the talk of the house - we put our frustrations aside for the staff- but now after seeing the $300 bill I wish I would've complained. We were even nice enough to still tip 22%. Maybe it was just a bad night service wise but we didn't see any managers auditing the team or the tables throughout our time there. Would've been nice to have one touch the table after the course mishap to ensure our expectations were met, but nothing. Needless to say, Sonz fell short of our expectations. No hospitality from the door to the table, we felt extremely rushed the whole evening, and there were steps of service missing from the team. Giant folding doors open up the restaurant to this peaceful scene. Had dinner here after arriving and settling in. Food was good overall (see the run down below) and service was good - could have been slightly more attentive, but overall it was fine. Food service seemed very fast! Apps came out before even the drinks! Mangotini - Yum! Sweet and dangerous- can't even taste the alcohol Sonz Mai Tai - also delicious made with local Hawaiian rum. Smooth and sweet. Calamari - seasoned nicely (may seem salty for any who are sensitive) and the marinara has a nice spicy kick Escargot - cheesy with garlic butter and served with cheesy bread. Cheese made it saltier than I would've preferred, but the bread helped and my husband liked it this way. New Zealand Lamb chops - cooked perfectly to a medium rare served with a delicate chimichurri. So tender. Only complaint was that it was a bit cool when served as if cooked then sat in the window too long. Also could've used some seasoning Bone-in ribeye - initially served overcooked, but quickly corrected and a new one provided cooked to a perfect medium rare. Nicely seasoned and tasty. It's a 20 oz steak so it was PLENTY Brussel sprouts - also seasoned well and grilled nicely with plenty of char. Very tasty Very enjoyable meal and we were pleasantly surprised. Must mention (forgive the spelling) Kaycelinn and Jake whose expert service as well as internal happiness blew our minds and made us 100% sure we would return. Everyone who came to our table, and there were many, made us realize the team atmosphere at this establishment. Now to the food-- the filet was expertly seasoned and prepared to a T. The lobster was tender and delicious. Both prepared to perfection. The Maui Wowie salad we shared was fresh and delicious. The escargot (who knew I would actually eat snails?!) melted in our mouths. The restaurant is drop dead gorgeosu set next to a waterfall with swans and ducks. Stunning! Open air in Hawaii is the way to go! The interior was stunning and classy with many light fixtures taking us back in time to maybe a 1940's big band dinner feeling. I love a white linen dining experience and this one did not disappoint. Many places in such a beautiful setting could skimp on all the details in service and food prep. Located on the lower lever of the Hyatt Regency in Ka'anapali. This dining location offers a relaxing dining experience with a view of a waterfall and a small lagoon. The seating is well spaced and it provides you with a bit more comfort for those still concerned about COVID exposure. On to the dining and service. The servers gave us a lot of attention and made sure that our dining experience would be one of satisfaction. We started with cocktails, a margarita and a "Lava Flow". I must admit that I am a margarita man, but the Lava Flow almost had me changing my tune. It was really good to say the least. For dinner, I had their filet mignon, medium rare with a bearnaise sauce! OMG, talk about tender and cooked to perfection. But let's not stop there...If I can recommend a side dish, it will have to be the Bacon Mac and Cheese! This Mac and Cheese is comprised of three cheeses and bacon, more like pancetta. My water glass was never less than half full, and servers were all so polite and attentive. The food I would give 3 stars. For the quality of food, it is way overpriced. My husbands NY Strip steak was tender and well cooked, but not seasoned well enough. And it costs extra to add any sides to a steak, which is just unnecessary. The spaghetti & wagyu meatballs: good meatballs, but overcooked noodles with bland sauce. We were familiar with the restaurant's location -- the Hyatt's Swan Court (and it still is for brunch). A delightful restaurant set in a lush garden setting, in the Hyatt. Open air and just beautiful. But we hadn't tried Son'z before. We come to Maui every year and like to try new restaurants. This experience did not disappoint! We were greeted by Leani (sp?) who worked it out so we could be seated earlier than our reservation (so kind!) -- and selected a table for us that had a great view (they all do actually) and no direct sun. Quickly our server Laurie stopped by and gave us a topline on the dining experience and a few recos on drinks (to start our evening). I had the Maui Cosmo which was so refreshing and not too sweet -- my husband had a Belvedere Martini and it was great and a nice size! With Laurie's help we selected the lamb chops, the filet mignon, ONE (SO HUGE!) twice baked potato, and the Med salad with shrimp (to start). NOTE: We opted for meats but they had a lovely fresh fish selection and other fab non-meat options to choose from on the menu. Laurie was there to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy -- it was like eating in her home. Everything was done to perfection (temp/color of meats) and my husband who is a risk at a steak place (because he is an excellent grill master at home) raved about the lamb, its cooking, "pink in the middle" delivery and taste (so fresh not gamey). Laurie found out it was our anniversary so she brought us a lovely dessert to share (a mango whipped delight!). And we were lucky to have a visit from the manager Justin who gave us more background on the restaurant. It was such a great experience we decided to cancel dinner at another five star place and come back to Sonz -- Leani helped make that happen before we left. Steaks on deck! Enjoyed a lovely vacation in Lahaina and enjoyed one of our dinners at Son'z. Let me start by saying that the views at this restaurant are spectacular. You walked down the stairs and it's absolutely breathtaking. Really allows you to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii. We were sat very quickly and got a lovely view by the window which allowed us to enoy the sunset and animals in the pond. We were kindly greeted by our server who recommended some drinks and mentioned that everyone would be taking care of us because they work as a team. We ordered a Mai Thai and lemon drop. The Mai Thai was so strong... I actually returned it back and they were nice to allow me to exchange my drink. I am not a heavy drinker so I'm sure it was a good drink but for me, it was not my cup of tea. We then ordered our meals: ribeye, filet, Mac & cheese & mushrooms. Our food was amazing! The flavors and cooking of our steaks were perfect. We weee very satisfied! The only flaw I would say was the service. Everything took forever to come out, our drinks, our food, our check & a to go box was forgotten and we waited for like 15 mins before we asked someone else to check up on the other server we had just asked for our check. By the end of dinner we had a total of 5 restaurant employees talking to us which I believe was not very efficient and creating a lack of communication between the staff. Despite the service we did enjoy our dinner and the pricing was adequate for a steak house. We were actually surprised on how cheap we thought it was being that our breakfast was averaging 60-80$ . read more

After our dinner cruise was cancelled due to weather, we were in a bind because many restaurants have reservations booked for months. We found Son'z Steakhouse on OpenTable and were able to make a reservation. The restaurant is inside a beautiful hotel for starters. Parking was easy and required a short walk, though they do have valet parking. Upon arrival, we were seated early, and the greeter, server and their assistant were very friendly. We ordered a couple of appetizers (Calamari and Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail) and they were delicious. We then ordered the Tomahawk and some sides for us to share and they were spectacular. The drinks were ok. My wife accidentally dropped some red sauce on her white dress and as soon as the server's assistant noticed, she brought out a stain removal spray and a wet towel. They really made the whole experience so much better. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Maui. read more

Had reservations at 7:30 and were seated immediately at a table for two right on the ponds edge. The torches and water make a perfect backdrop for a romantic dinner. My wife and I have eaten here once before a little earlier in the evening and didn't feel the same way. Nighttime is the best time for dinning at Son'z. We both ordered filet and the steaks were cooked to perfection. Amazingly juicy with a great favor. She got the brandy peppercorn sauce and I ordered the Mauishire. Both sauces were incredible but the steaks is so perfect neither of us used much. After a couple dips in the sauce, we just ate the steak as prepared. Ordered the roasted garlic mashed potatoes and they were the creamiest potatoes I've ever eaten. Tried the fudge lava flow for dessert. Takes about 15-20 minutes as they prepare it to order. Ummmmm...I'd wait twice as long. The coconut ice cream was ok but the fudge cake was quite spectacular. The warm, liquid fudge flowed out of the small cake like lava and was extremely delicious. I took the family for dinner at Son'z in the Hyatt Regency, Lahaina, Maui, HI. It is a beautiful hotel with a grand entrance and lobby. Son'z is down a flight of winding stairs to beach level. There is a pond bordering the dining room where swans intrigue diners. We had an 8:30 reservation, so the dining room was practically empty. We were sat next to a large group of 20+ who were on the tail end of their meal and very loud and boisterous. I don't blame them. They're enjoying a fun night out together Maui. I just wish we were sat a bit farther from them since there were plenty of empty tables available. That's my only complaint about the evening. Our server was excellent and extremely very friendly. Since my dining partners are not capable of downing big steaks on their own, I ordered 2, 20-day wet aged ribeyes, MR, that I sliced to share. In addition, we added numerous sides: Mac n Cheese, Grilled Asparagus, Mushrooms with Maui Onions, Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, Garlic Mashed Potatoes. All the sides were great, except the Mac n cheese needed salt and was a bit milky, and not really creamy. Aside from that, there was something for everyone and we enjoyed a great meal together. For dessert, I believe my daughter and I shared a macadamia nut hot fudge sundae with vanilla ice cream. Yum! The other two were tapped out. Everything in Maui is pricey, and Son'z is no exception to that rule, however I found it to be an excellent place to have an elevated experience with the family on our vacation together. One note: We took this vacation in the wake of the devastating Lahaina fires. We had the trip booked 8 months in advance. We were apprehensive about taking the trip out of respect for those so deeply affected by the tragedy. When we contacted the resort where our reservation was, they urged us to come. Every concierge, bartender, server, tour director thanked us for coming to Maui and helping to support their livelihood. Please go respectfully help Lahaina build back strong and thrive! read more
