Surprise surprise MEDFORD! This place is a gem. Delicious - so dang good. Not a quick place-very zen - but so yummmmmy. Everything we ordered was dank. Kimchi was fresh - dumplings. We were just coming off of some rancid chicken (see review for real taste of india), famished, and most places had closed. we saw this place right across the street from real taste of india, and we called (yep, limiting in-person contact as much as possible) them to place an order: beef bulgogis, soondubu (tofu soup) with dumplings. delicious, and hearty/filling, but also with a twist... the bulgogis i'm used to just come with rice, and this one came with a salad mixed in - and not a skimpy amount either, it was a substantial amount of both leafage and rice. the accompanying sauce and breaking up the egg made it all a wonderful combination while giving a touch more healthy than usual :) the tofu soup was spicy and flavorful. per my boyfriend who went in for the order, the man at the front was very kind and friendly, was wearing a kn95 mask, and they struck up a conversation about our trip, where we're from, dimsum spots. sounded lovely, wish i'd met him too. definitely try this place :) read more

Up and down all night, which was a fun sleepless night. The food tasted ok while we dined, and we even brought back the leftovers. But after the night I had, into ten trash those went. We were traveling to visit family in Medford and saw a Korean restaurant in Medford, and we were like "whoa a Korean restaurant in Medford". That wa supposed to be awesome, after being stationed in Korea for 2 years we were looking forward to seeing what it was like. Well the food was decent, like most reviewers, not much to write home about. The Bibimbap was ok, but not the normal items that I see in the dish traditionally, and the wife's bulgogi was good. But later that night, the food fought back. I visited the bathroom more than a hipster visits the mirror. On the other side, my wife seem fine. But with Bibimbap coming out both ends, that night was a super memorable experience. So if you want a good cleansing visit this place, if you don't then pass. read more

A genuine Korean restaurant that was called 38 Central and has renovated to add a long bar and take out the table cloths and upscale look. My soft tofu soup with chicken was full of vegges, tofu and several pieces of tender chicken. A bowl of rice came on the side. The hearty soup's flavor was of chili pepper. My companion ordered the bibimbap that came with lots of lettuce on top and five side dishes. The lighting was dim, unusual for lunch and the table was a bit far from the seat. We stopped by Medford on our way up traveling from San Diego to Seattle. We were looking for something to eat, and thought Korean food would be good. The service was alright from the start. We were seated within 5 minutes and we ordered waters, pork dumplings, pork bulgogi, and the bibimbap. Although the dumplings and pork bulgogi were good and tasty, I was actually disappointed with the bibimbap... and the different sides. My husband, Michael, and I had never had Korean food except home-cooked by friends. Good friends of ours in Phoenix RAVED about SooRah so we wanted to try it. First, the design and decor of the restaurant is beautiful and utterly enchanting. Actually, quite exotic. In Medford??? Second, the service was wonderful. We needed guidance about how and what to order. Our long, tall, red-headed server was knowledgeable and, with his help, we were so happy with our choices. Our food arrived fast, plentiful -- and absolutely delicious. Michael had the D3, the barbequed pork, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The serving was so generous that he couldn't eat it all. I ordered the pork bibimbap. It had lots of fresh vegetables, which I loved. The hot red sauce that came with was divine as was the fresh kimchi. Oh, yes! I had the hot fresh ginger tea. The food was so new (for the valley) and exotic but lately the quality has been going down. The owner goes through a ton of employees which makes it difficult to get good service anymore, too. This used to be my favorite restaurant in town. I eat there all the time and ordered delivery when it was shut down. I ordered today and didn't get half the order. When I eat there I always get the sea weed strips and we fill them with the different yummy sides and the main and eat them that way. I got my order and all that was there was half portion of bland meat sitting in 1/2 inch of grease. I ordered the BBQ. Not the sauté or boils, a tablespoon of mashed potatoes and a tablespoon of pickled onions. I called to ask if half my order wasn't picked up and the owner said they are no longer including the sides and rest of the meal with delivery. Yet it's being advertised as the full meal for 30$!!! I asked why they are advertising the normal meal if half isn't there and he said they just decided. So don't order from here. The owner has decided to not include everything that comes with the meals but advertising it as the whole meal. Very sad. I'm sure he is losing a lot of customers over this. This is gross and I can't believe this is the same restaurant that was my favorite. Worst part is when I called to get help he was rude and basically told me too bad. Call door dash to get my money back. I was going to go down there and he said he wouldn't help. read more

I was in Medford for business and I was looking for something different than its numerous fast food options. So I chanced upon this quaint Korean restaurant. It is very spacious and elegantly decorated. My mother is Korean-American so I grew up enjoying tons of authentic Korean food. This restaurant had a great assortment of Korean dishes and were prepared exceptionally well. I felt like I was eating back at my grandmother's house growing up. Might be in my hall of fame for worst service experiences. The place was completely dead at 7:30pm. My husband ordered an entree and I ordered a tea as I had already eaten. The server comes out with an abnormally large mug of hot water with a tea bag. For $3.50 I was expecting a little presentation: a sweetener, a lemon, spoon, a pot for hot water, perhaps? Literally anything to justify that price. I wouldn't bother with a review, but the clincher was when we realized the level of service we were due to receive for our buck we immediately canceled our order and paid for the tea. When I asked to take my tea to go the server just gave me a to go cup. Kids, don't try this at home. Ended up burning the life out of my hand to transfer the tea. Horrible experience. We drove two hours from Seiad Valley to this location after checking on yelp that its open from 11am to 9pm. We reached around 3:15pm and asked for a table. Owner came and said that its closed. Restaurant was more than half full at that time. We told him that we checked on yelp and your hours outside the door also say 11-9pm and we have two small kids 6 and 2year old, can you please arrange for pick up. Owner shrugged his shoulders, and asked us to leave. This was such a terrible experience. Not sure how this place got high rating. read more

The prices are too high and the portions are too small. The first time I came here I fell in love with the seafood pancake. It took a long time to get the food though. My second time back, I again had seafood pancake. This time it came fast because we where the only table. The pancake was completely different though. It was doughy, greasy, under cooked and with very little seafood. When the waiter returned to asked if we liked our food we told him no and what was wrong with it. He said they have a different cook and he is learning. They wouldn't make us a new seafood pancake either but instead at the very end after complaining again they offered a $3.20 discount. We were not happy, they only cared about us giving them money. Because the seafood pancake is $16, we ate as much as we could as not to waste our money but couldn't eat it all. Stopped by for dinner while driving through Medford. The restaurant is large and beautifully decorated and the service was really nice. There were a few tables open when we walked in but it was about a 20 min wait to get seated so we waited at the bar. My boyfriend and I ordered the pan fried beef dumplings (~$6) to share which appeared to be handmade and were soo good especially with the soy sauce. The seafood pancake (~$10) we got was large enough to be a meal on its own. It was filled with squid and vegetables and little crunchy noodles on top. The pancake is less doughy than other Korean restaurants I've been to but just as good. Then we also shared a beef bibimbap (~$13) that was filled with vegetables and bulgogi. I liked it but I preferred the other dishes a lot more. Overall very reasonable prices and authentic Korean food! read more

You know how you can tell when a restaurant's chefs truly know how to cook? They can perfectly cook a basic fried egg. The egg on top of my beef bibimpop was not runny, yet still creamy. The white part was also not overcooked and crusty. This was a great start to a great meal. I ordered the veggie pancake and beef bibimpop to go. The pancake itself was large enough to be a meal by itself! Full of veggies and not that much dough. It wasn't very salty which was perfect since I could just salt it to my taste via the sauce provided. The beef bibimbop was also a lot of food. All the veggies were super fresh and tasty and the beef was also top notch. I wish I received more beef with the order, but I was so full by that point from the pancake anyway. An order also came with some pickled veggies, which I didn't eat but I'm sure plenty of people would enjoy. As I was waiting for the food, I was talking to Paul, the restaurant owner. He was super nice to me and all the other customers! I also found out that he really cares about his restaurant because he travels every other month to Sacramento or Portland to purchase the authentic ingredients necessary to cook everything- that's dedication right there. I read a review saying how the restaurant was hard to find since there's no sign outside. That's changed as of the day I visited- now there's a huge sign saying "Soorah Korean Cuisine". The decor inside also caught me off guard. It's beautifully decorated and has an upscale vibe to it. I was super impressed! I tried this place when it first open and wasn't impressed though I admit I think it was because I have not had a lot of introduction to Korean food and ordered without asking questions. I decided I needed to give it another chance. SO glad I did. Love the kimchi and pickled veggies to start. perfect to snack on while you wait without being overly filling. Awesome Veggie dumplings (so few places have ones without meat) I had the spicy veggie Ramyn and it was tasty! The spice was just right and it was very satisfying. My dining companions had the bimbibop (sp) with spicey pork and the other had the bento. All was happy! The thing pushing this from 4 to five stars was the excellent service by Gavin (I think that was his name). He was completely on top of things plus he was very warm and welcoming (as was the owner). He also was very helpful with questions about the menu. Top notch service for sure! Never tried Korean? I had the tofu dolsot bimbambop--and it was among the best I've ever had. Delicious veggies in a sizzling hot bowl with a perfect soft cooked egg. The sauce was amazing, the rice crisped up in the bowl with an ideal crunch. I devoured it. Four banchan were provided but on questioning the owner admitted the kimchi had anchovies (obviously). I had previously told him nothing with fish or fish flakes or fish paste. He took it away instantly. This was a healthy-feeling bowl of goodness, and I recommend it highly. The restaurant was empty at 5:30 on a Saturday, but that's early. The music wasn't too loud, and the decor is pleasant enough--the high seedlings make everything feel open. Check them out! Really great addition to downtown Medford! Relatively new- the owner is super nice and the food is excellent. I've been twice now on a weekday night, and there's always a few tables full. Service is a tad bit slow, but worth it! The seafood pancake is good. My coworker complains that there are too many vegetables in it, but I insist on ordering it whenever we go. Dumplings, both fried and steamed are good starters as well. I definitely think the tofu soup is a winner. Comes in the typical korean hot pot, so you can crack an egg in it and the soup is hot enough to cook it. I like the seafood version, mainly because the mussels and crab are yummy. Their alcohol options are slowly increasing, though no physical menus yet. Of all the asian restaurants I've been to in Medford, this one is definitely my favorite. read more

I travel in & out of southern Oregon regularly to visit my mother in Klamath Falls. Medford has the only regional airport so I often have several hours wait for planes/shuttles. There is not a lot of diversity and most of the food is SAD/pub food in both places. No Korean in Klamath, but I found SooRah in Medford. I judge my Korean by how good their Kimchie Jjigae is, and this place does not disappoint. Most American Korean restaurants make the food mild since Americans don't like spicy food as much, so the Kimchie jjigae at many Korean Restaurants is pretty mild/watered down. The flavor of SooRah's is perfect medium spice. Not too hot but definitely a spicy kick. So good! The tempura is perfect and light (good clean cooking oil), and the cucumber salad was crisp and refreshing. Banchan was Kimchie, potatoes, pickled veg and zucchini. I would have liked some radish, but I'm sure they switch it up daily. I love seafood pancakes and that is on the menu. They have Katsu (pork, chicken), udon, sushi, and usual ghalbi, bibimbap, rice dishes and soups. But more importantly, they have SOJU. I will be back here regularly. I mean like every single time I am in Medford. The space is really great too. The bar area is abso beautiful. Check it out. Highly recommend for Korean food in Medford area. read more
