Let's just say you're paying a pretty Penny for the decor and the location. The power of Marketing is what's making this place a success. I was pulled in by the Aesthetics all of those beautiful photos on Instagram. I made a reservation and when I showed up I was told they had 2 seats for me at the bar. Who seats someone who has reservations at the bar? The bar is where I go when I don't have a reservation. I declined the bar seats and the host found me a table in the back away from all the beautiful cherry blossoms that filled the place. So unfortunate because one of the main reasons I wanted to visit was to get a cool pic for my socials like everyone else! So here I am at my table that seats 6 in the back and it's freezing in the place. I walked towards the front to ask about the heat and I notice it's cold throughout the entire place. So on to the food I ordered the spare ribs for an appetizer and the chicken katsu curry for an entree and a cocktail. My ribs where hard seems like they weren't freshly made and for the price I believe $17 for 3 to 4 spare ribs they should have been fresh. The chicken curry cost around $30 for one fried chicken thigh. The chicken thigh is one of the cheapest cuts of chicken. This is why I say your paying for the aesthetics. My chicken was under seasoned and the rice was mushy and over cooked. The curry tasted as if it came from a package. My cocktail I had a purple one made with gin it was supposed to have a cloud of egg whites but the server said she guessed the bartender didn't whip the egg whites long enough for the drink to form. So underwhelming. Also my drink tasted as if they juiced a flower and added food coloring and gin. Way to floral tasting for me. The positives our server was friendly the complementary edamame they give was the best of all the food we had. The hot towels To wash our hands we're a nice touch and the oranges to cleanse the Palette give an added touch of upscale dining. Lastly there is a 15% property fee added to your ticket and that's not the tip. The restaurant is charging the guest the fee they incurred for using the hotel space for the pop up. All in all I spent about $90 including the food drink fees and tip. Not worth it in my opinion. read more

I mostly prefer to eat a la carte, so I ordered Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and the six piece Sashimi item. The presentation was good, and the portion size of the sashimi was ideal, a good mouthful per bite without feeling as though I took a chunk out of the side of a fish. I like quite a bit of wasabi and had a little left when I was done, so I'd say that they did well there. The ginger was good (not that awful red stuff). I'd never had crispy rice and really enjoyed the chewy-crunchy sensation. The pieces were a bit large for a single bite, and challenging to eat neatly, but I wouldn't change a thing. A satisfying light meal, and the price seemed fair. I will eat here again and look forward to an enlarged menu. read more

Came here for my early birthday dinner and had a great experience. This is def a hidden gem for great Asian fusion food. Everything we tried on their menu was delicious. Sushi tasted fresh. The dessert of Apple Bao bun was so unique and exquisite! It had apple ginger filling with a cinnamon bao bun and vanilla(? I think) ice cream. Whatever it was, I could eat it everyday! I came to Sora with a friend for Cleveland Restaurant Week. We have both been itching to come here but have held back because we've read mixed reviews about how the high prices aren't worth it, so when we saw a restaurant week menu that was a great deal, we knew it was the right time to go. First of all: part of Sora's appeal is the ambiance. It's absolutely beautiful inside. The theme is cherry blossoms and it runs through the entire restaurant. I tried to take pictures, but it really can't capture how beautiful it is. With that being said, it's a smaller restaurant and I found it to be quite loud. There's a bar in Sora and the music that is playing is trendy music similar to what you would hear in a bar. It feels kind of like eating sushi in a nightclub rather than a swanky sushi bar, so keep that in mind when considering the vibe you want for dinner. One more thing - Sora is in The Flats so parking is annoying. You could valet your car, or there is a $10 surface parking lot right across the street, or if you want free parking you could drive around The Flats, but I would recommend getting there earlier to do that. Now: the food. My friend and I both got the restaurant week menu and just shared, so altogether we had Taiwanese Karaage, Salmon Crudo, Ebisu Roll (I think? We expected the Suki roll but they had a different one on the menu than what we saw online), Lechon Asado, and Dark Chocolate Mousse. The appetizers really surprised me. The Taiwanese Karaage was a very generous portion (like a whole basket of fried chicken) and very flavorful, plus it came with a great sauce. The Salmon Crudo was a much smaller portion (~5 pieces of fish) but this is what I expected for a raw fish appetizer. The fish was very soft and tasted incredibly high quality, and the accompanying vegetable garnishes made it feel much more substantial. Based on my appetizer experience, I think it would be worth it to come with friends and share some appetizers and drinks since the portions are perfect for a group. The entrees were ok. Originally we were going to get two Suki Rolls but the waitress told us the Lechon Asado was one of her favorites so we decided to order it. The Lechon Asado had a VERY mild flavor. It came with a sawsawan dipping sauce, but when eating the pork, plantain, and rice altogether with the sauce it still didn't really have much taste. We experimented with all the different sauces we had on our table from our meal to try to figure out how to make this dish taste better, and actually found it was very enjoyable with just regular soy sauce. This isn't a dish I would order again because the flavor wasn't there for me, but with soy sauce I enjoyed it and appreciated that we had a more filling option on the table. The portions for this dish were nice and we definitely didn't leave hungry. The Ebisu roll was interesting because it didn't come wrapped in seaweed but came in some sort of pink soybean (?) wrapping. Would've preferred it in seaweed but the pink was definitely pretty and fun. The roll itself was kind of just a shrimp tempura roll you can get anywhere else. After having the Salmon Crudo and seeing how quality the fish is, the shrimp tempura was definitely less exciting because it was just kind of average. The Dark Chocolate Mousse was a nice way to end the meal. It actually tasted more like milk chocolate to me, I was able to take part of the dessert home because I couldn't handle the sweetness of having 3 mousse cups. My friend thought more passionfruit would've balanced it out more, and I think I agree, although my passionfruit also was kind of sour so I don't know if I would've wanted more in that very moment. Two more cute things about Sora: they brought us hot towels at the beginning to wipe our hands and an orange between our entree and dessert to cleanse our palates. Although the orange I got at my meal was actually very sour and bitter, it was the thought that counted for me - these things are small touches that elevate a dining experience. Sora is definitely a beautiful restaurant with attention to detail and dining experience. If you are looking to shell out some money on a fancy dinner and don't mind a louder dining experience, this might be a good option. The food tastes high quality. Even so, I am not sure how I would've felt about this menu had I paid the full non-restaurant week prices. I think I definitely would've been disappointed by the entrees, but the appetizers were great. TBD if I will come back, but I definitely have a desire to try more - especially sushi and apps, and maybe even some wagyu beef since Sora seems to really focus on quality, I'm sure it's fantastic. read more

I know it's known for its sushi but the non sushi menu is hella good, y'all! We ordered the karaage as an appetizer and it was so good, son! Wax paper with fried basil leaves on top served with sticks. OMG just like street food, but more expensive! I got the ramen which did NOT disappoint. I've been to Sora a few times before with friends but I came solo this time and was able to sit at the sushi bar!
