Not a good start. then took 10 min to order. whatev. got the app trio - pretty good! fried ravioli, mozz. sticks and zucchini sticks - not the best but definitely yummy got the pizza - unbelievable!!! Came with Spencer and Ryan. Here's the issue with this place and a few other people have mentioned it in their reviews. The use sugar in their marinara sauce. It's honestly, really disgusting. If you've ever had real Italian food, this just doesn't happen. I had a really hard time eating almost everything. The garlic bread was also pretty terrible. Barely tasted the garlic or even the butter. Everything else about the place is pretty welcoming, the service, the place itself and it seemed liked a lot of regulars came here. So I'm guessing it's become a real facet for San Pedro. read more

Whenever we go hiking in Palos Verdes or tidepools in San Pedro, we head to a local known sandwich shop in the area. Not wanting to wait in line we decided to come to another local known italian restaurant Sorrentos. My older son has always loved Sorrentos pasta and pizza, but has never gotten a sandwich from here, and now he has and he is a big fan. Now we all are big fans! We bought small sandwiches and they were pretty big. The bread was perfect and each of our sandwiches was so delicious. We got chicken parmigian, meatball and pastrami. I'm always stuffed after enjoying a meal at Sorrento's, the portions are the best in town! The ingredients are always fresh and you can taste the quality. My favorite meals are the tuna sandwich and any of the pizza's. I highly recommend eating here for your next lunch or dinner outing. read more

My fiance just picked up a turkey avocado sandwich for us to split for dinner. I got it dry to put mustard on it at home. When I opened the sandwich there was one piece of turkey folded in half and they doubled up on the tomatoes. There were 6 soggy tomatoes on half of the sandwich. The sandwich was all filler and no meat. It tasted horrible. I have been ordering this sandwich for 15 years. I was very disappointed. To make matters worse, my son came home with a turkey Subway sandwich and he had more turkey on his sandwich for a fraction of the cost. I would rather you charge a little extra to cover inflation than serve us a sandwich with no meat that costs almost $20 I guess it's back to Jersey Mike's for my turkey sandwiches. read more

Long have I searched for a decent pizza place nearby me and I believe I've finally found one. When it comes to pizza I have a certain type that's my favorite. Don't mistake me--I love pizza in all varieties. Be it New York, Chicago, or California, there isn't a style of pizza I wouldn't eat. But when I get a craving, the pizza I tend to like is the pizza I grew up with. It has to have thick crust, but it shouldn't be french bread thick with some cheese and sauce thrown on top. It has to have a decent spread of sauce--no sparse dabs here and there that California-influenced pizza kitchens seem in favor of. And it has to have gobs of cheese that melt evenly without sliding off haphazardly. It's kind of hard to describe. I like my pizzas to look and taste like a pizza. A pizza place doesn't need to make a fashion statement and it doesn't need loads of toppings to choose from. As long as it's got sausage and fresh garlic, minced or chopped, I'm a happy camper. Sorrento's is as good as it gets around here. Their pizza is conventionally superb. It's not going to win any points on originality or creativity, but it more than makes up for the non-deficit with its technical brilliance and nuanced consistency. I can see why it's long been considered one of the best, if not the best pizza, in the San Pedro area. read more

So, I'm giving 5 stars to Sorrento's for their pizza. I would probably give at least 4 stars for their other food, which is great and would deserve a review of it's own. But, for now let's just talk pies. Let's get the obvious out of the way: the token East Coast friend who will inevitably say, "Marone! This is nothing like *insert local pizza place* down on *insert some intersection in Manahattan*!" The bottom line: Sorrento's pies will sit on your thin, sauceless New York pizza's chest and give it sailor taps until it says "uncle". Sorrento's pizzas have fantastic homemade dough that is fired to perfection, and sauces that are so delicious you could dip and old shoe in them and they would make it taste amazing. They put plenty of the toppings of your choice that you would expect in a good Italian eatery on the pie; all of which are fresh, and in some cases, homemade too. The end result is a hearty meal of a pizza. The kind of pizza that has enough heft you'll have to carry it to the car with both hands kind of pizza. They offer chili peppers and fresh baggies of mozzarella (thank you for not giving us those ridiculous packets of fake mozzarella) when you pick up your pie. They don't deliver. Which is a good thing, actually. The quality of this pizza demands that you pick it up yourself and take it right home to eat it hot. Leaving it the hands of some disgruntled, careless, minimum wage, drug addict to deliver will only result in a cold pie that has been mushed over to one side of the crust, no chili peppers, no mozzarella, the wrong pizza, and a stranger looking into your place as you hand him over his tip for his "service". No, my friends, this pie deserves your respect and admiration enough to peel your butt off the couch and go get it yourself. Your reward, pizza nirvana. Now, tip yourself for doing the right thing. Pro Tip (speaking of tips): Get it with fresh basil, ask for extra sauce, and hide any leftovers in tinfoil in the very back of the fridge before hiding the pizza box in the bottom of the trash can, if you have roommates. Because, if they're familiar with Sorrento's pizza, you'll never see that pie, again! read more

The worst wanna be Italian restaurant. The food is overly salted. The service is awful. Make sure you look at your cups and utensils. We received a cup with lipstick on it. There were so many bugs flying around when we received our food. Our waitress got our order wrong twice! I had to take medicine because my stomach felt horrible after eating there. Been coming here for over for over 40 years...usually enjoy our dinner but tonight it was off. My boyfriend did not like his chicken Parmesan sandwich which he told the waiter. The waiter replied that's weird everyone likes it...okay well he didn't. The chips were stale and the chicken was rubbery and greasy tasting. The waiter proceeded to say all the chicken was eaten but in reality a big piece was left. After speaking to the manager nothing was done. This place is something else yes the decor is from the 80's and it's not hip oh whatever but the food is why we come. Dad's been bring us here since we were little kids when we used to live in San Pedro. Now when we can come out and visit we stop by also....so I can say we've been coming here for 32 years and he food well it stays delicious so who care we have fake grapes or whatever else is around the pizza is always good and the staff always nice to us.
