    The 6pc Fried Wings
    Devine W.

Okay so this place really surprised me!!! It's located inside of a bar ... and when I went to pick up the food the bar was completely empty.... Ordering is all online they don't take in person. They are a bit pricey ..... just so you know but the wings!!!! Omg they were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly!!! I got them plain with a side of honey garlic and OMG!!!!!!!!!!I would pour that sauce on all of my chicken dishes. My only issue was that a few wings were bigger than I prefer but otherwise the wings were good af!!! The inside looked like a whole vibe is it was just missing people lol

If you're craving tasty Korean fried chicken, Soul Chicken in Kalihi is the spot to hit up. Just a heads-up it's right smack dab in the middle of the Dillingham rail construction chaos, so getting there might feel like an adventure. And to make things even trickier, there are no left turns on Dillingham, so plan your route accordingly. But once you do make it there, you'll find it tucked inside Bliss Lounge & Bar, which is actually a plus. What pairs better with crispy, fried chicken than an ice-cold beer or cocktail? Plus, the space is cozy and great for hanging out with friends. Since it's inside Bliss lounge and bar, there's no table service, so you'll need to scan a QR code to order or better yet, save yourself the hassle and order ahead here: https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/soul-chicken-honolulu I've always been quoted 20 minutes for orders, but in my experiences, it's always ready sooner. If you're grabbing takeout, ordering ahead online is the way to go so you're not stuck waiting. And this chicken? Crispy, light, not greasy, and not weighed down by batter, exactly how it should be. My go to flavors are Honey Garlic and Yang Nyeom (spicy) and if you're taking it home, I highly recommend getting the sauce on the side to avoid any soggy disappointments. My only complaint are that some of these chickens look like they barely made it past chickhood because a few of the pieces are really small. I'm talking bite sized in a way that makes you wonder if they ran out of full-grown birds. But hey, what they lack in size, they definitely make up for in flavor. If you can navigate the construction mess (and the no-left-turn nightmare on Dillingham), Soul Chicken is a solid spot for some seriously good Korean fried chicken just maybe don't expect every wing to be a heavyweight or order more half dozens.

Consistent hot fresh yummy sandwiches and wings! Mild , Regular and Spicy options. I got mild and shared with a toddler. Fries are crispy light and airy. They remind me of like truffle fries. The sandwiches have cabbage slaw and the chicken is sauced. I loved it! Order ahead if you can. They make orders fresh. Worth the wait! The bar Soul Chicken is in is a little lame but the chicken makes up for it if you want to eat in the establishment. Diet option is Diet Coke.

I gotta say this... SOUL Chicken is THAT spot!!! After living in Korea for years, I can honestly say this is hands down the most authentic Korean fried chicken I've had in forever. The food is next level crispy, flavorful, just perfection. On top of that, the owner is amazing you can tell he really cares about making sure every single customer is happy. That kind of energy is rare these days. The vibe inside? Completely unexpected. From the outside, you might not think much, but once you step in... mind blown. The ambiance is dope and makes you feel like you found a hidden gem. I can't wait to go back... honestly, I might pull up again tonight after writing this because it's just THAT good. If you love Korean fried chicken, trust me you don't want to miss this spot.

1989 the number, another summer! (Get down!) Sound of the funky drummer! Music hitting your heart 'cause I know you got SOUL!!! (Brothers and sisters, HEY!) Listen if you're missing y'all Swingin' while I'm singin'... About this little Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) place that's got me singin' that old school Public Enemy jam! Located at the end of a little old strip mall, which might be hard to get to, primarily because of road construction next to it. Keep in mind that parking can be a pain it it's busy. And I really hate to say this, but the road construction is just a complete turn-off. But once you get here and try their wings, you'll completely forget about all that. Let's get straight to the KFC of things and explain why I've got SOUL!!! 20pc Chicken Wing Family Combo ($38.95), which includes 2 flavors, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. We tried the Honey and Spicy Yang Nyeom, and maaaaan talk about Soul For Real! The honey flavor was a perfect crisp and sweetness, a perfect tenderness, a perfect everything! I feel they use olive oil to deep fry them, but don't quote me on that. Even the Yang Nyeom spiciness was fairly manageable and simply flawless. Next time, I'm gonna go for Hell's Gate to challenge myself and some naked wings to go along with it. As for staff and service, the two ladies that helped us were cordial and pleasant. We mainly dealt with Cheryl, who seemed to be running the place. She gave us sauce samples, made recommendations, took our order, and showed us where to refill our water glasses at the bar. The bar and dining area is part of Bliss Lounge, a karaoke bar that shares the stage while you chill here with a beer, wings, and a song. Someday, I'll share a rap y'all! But for now, if you haven't tried these wings, you're missin' out!

My friends and I love finding new bars to play darts in Honolulu, and Soul Chicken was such a great find! We got there at 4pm and didn't leave til 11... We met the owner, who also DJs at the bar, and he is so much fun. We ended up chatting with him late into the night. The servers are also incredible and make you feel like family. The fried chicken is great - crunchy and flavorful on the outside and juicy on the inside! Also love the toppoki, calamari rings and cheese curds - the ultimate bar food. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in Honolulu.

Very good! Located near HCC with parking lots on both sides of it, Soul Chicken is a solid chicken spot! I have only been outside for a pick up order but the outside looked clean and the service was efficient. The order was ready when it was meant to be. The chicken was very flavorful and the sauces definitely added a lot to the plate. The portion was also quite large and priced reasonably for what they gave. The bowls looked good and I will definitely be back.

Yes. Yes. Yes. My husband is an avid Korean Fried Chicken lover, so you know we have to hit them all. Soul chicken has been our favorite thus far!! You can order at the to-go window outside, but you can also eat inside at the bar area (Bliss karaoke). The menu is almost the same but it's worth sitting inside if you're with a group, or if you want to enjoy your food HOT 'n FRESH. We ordered just about every single flavor offered on the menu, and there wasn't a single bad one. We love the original (naked one) and the Hell's Gate (no refund, no lawsuit). It was not as spicy as I was expecting it to be, honestly, but it was still delicious! We also l loved all the sides! The corn salad tastes just like the ones you order in Korea, and the dduk with yangneom sauce was yummm. The fries were crispy and don't forget to order some pickled radish for that delicious, vinegary crunch. The service was super friendly and they did a great job of explaining things and answering questions to us first-timers. Parking is also easy since they're in an actual shopping plaza with their own lot. I know the construction around that area is a pain, but honestly it's worth venturing into this area if you want a solid meal of Korean Fried Chicken!! Can't wait to be back.

The fried chicken wings from here are so delicious. I had lunch here with Auntie Nadine. Our cashier, Cheryl, was nice enough to let us sit inside Bliss Lounge so that we'd be more comfortable in the A/C. We both opted for the six piece bone in combo. It came with one side and one drink. Nadine got her chicken with honey and chose the gimmari as her side. I got the chicken with shoyu and chose the mandoo as my side. I've never even heard of gimmari (deep fried glass noodles in seaweed) before this place. I really liked it, but Nadine preferred the mandoo. Both the honey and shoyu flavorings were delicious. Obviously, the honey chicken was on the sweeter side. If that's what you like go for the honey. Definitely five stars for the chicken, gimmari, mandoo and the service from Cheryl.

Lunch in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend, Angel H., is a chicken connoisseur. I thought that she would be a great foodie companion to go with me to Soul Chicken. We've passed by this vendor on Dillingham Boulevard many times because Costco is nearby. We heard that it was somehow connected with Bliss Lounge next door. We found out that the owner does own both businesses. We were invited to dine inside the lounge (instead of sitting outside with the wind, exhaust fumes, and traffic passing by). Great idea because of the air conditioning, convenient restroom, and comfy booth seating! Cheryl was our friendly, helpful cashier. She took our orders, told us where the entrance to Bliss Lounge was; turned the air conditioning on for us; told us where the best seat was for maximum AC; brought our meals to us; and was the perfect, cheerful, efficient host! Angel ordered the Shoyu Chicken Wings and Mandoo. I got the Honey Chicken Wings and Gimmari. We shared so that we could have a taste of each other's meals. I liked everything. I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite because each item was good in its own way. Both types of chicken wings were tasty and crunchy on the outside, and moist on the inside. Both sides (Mandoo and Gimmari) were delicious! We had a wonderful experience - mostly because of Cheryl! We look forward to returning! We really appreciated the free shared parking!

The chicken skin had a nice crunch to it and the meat was juicy (not super oily, but juicy.) The mashed potatoes and gravy weren't bad. They were not super fluffy but a little more on the dense side. (Nothing bad, just dense.) The gravy was somewhat runny with just the right amount of saltiness. The spaghetti was surprisingly good! It's been a few years since I've gone to a Jolly Bee and I had imagined the spaghetti to only be sweet and savory. It was actually pretty good! (Not in an Italian way though. It was a little spicy, which I loved! I wasn't expecting it to be spicy so it was a very pleasant surprise! It was a tad sweet...just the right amount! (There isn't a 3-piece combo on the menu, but the server was kind enough to accommodate my request for an extra piece of chicken.) It came with a container of gravy that made me wonder what it was for, immediately. Then I remembered all the commercials and YouTube videos where food reviewers either slathered their chicken with the gravy or they dunked it into the gravy. I was so hungry that I forgot for a few seconds that the gravy was for the chicken, thus I drank most of the gravy!! The dining area is constantly cleaned and draws a diverse crowd. I arrived around 5:40 PM, but getting into the parking lot took longer than expected because of the very long drive-thru line and limited parking. Once inside, I waited about 5 minutes at the counter before anyone acknowledged me. I was the only customer waiting inside. I even stood near the online pickup area for a while, hoping someone would ask if I needed help, but several employees walked by without acknowledging me. Two cashiers looked in my direction multiple times but continued their conversation instead of checking whether I was waiting for an order. I finally interrupted to let them know I was there for an online pickup and gave them my name. Unfortunately, there seemed to be confusion about my order. One employee pointed to another, who then pointed back to the first employee while continuing to prepare food. No one was able to tell me whether my order was ready. Thankfully, an employee wearing a different colored shirt (a manager I'm assuming) noticed I hadn't been helped. She immediately apologized, asked for my name, checked on my order, and informed the kitchen that more chicken needed to be prepared. Shortly after, another manager also stepped in, apologized, and helped get everything together. I finally left with my order at 6:09 PM, nearly 40 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. The food was fresh, delicious, and the restaurant itself was clean, which is why I'm giving 5 stars for the food and cleanliness. However, this isn't the first time I've had to wait an unusually long time just to be acknowledged for an online pickup. In the past, my food has at least been ready once someone finally helped me. This visit was different because not only was I ignored, but my order also wasn't ready. I understand that restaurants are fast-paced environments and that unexpected staffing shortages can happen if someone calls out sick. However, there appeared to be plenty of staff working during my visit. My concern wasn't the number of employees--it was the lack of communication, urgency, and teamwork. I believe additional customer service and workflow training could help employees become more productive and ensure that customers, especially those picking up online orders, are acknowledged promptly. A simple greeting such as, "We'll be right with you," or "Let me check on your order," would have made a significant difference. Good communication goes a long way and leaves customers feeling valued, even during busy times.

For about $16 you get a heavily portioned plate with two scoops of rice, mixed green salad, asparagus, and a nicely cooked ahi steak. The garlic are actual cloves that have been cooked long enough to soften them and take away that bite without removing the garlicky goodness. The bomb sauce adds a bit of creaminess to round out the plate. They're a bit of a hole in the wall, takeout ideally due to the limited parking in front and seating. Menu is vast and they are open late/early. You can even get lobster here! For the prices, you'd easily pay $30 for the seafood options and portions at fancier establishments. The food. I ordered the furikake ahi. It comes with mixed greens and asparagus. There also is some "bomb sauce". It's nice and creamy with a slight hint of heat. The furikake ahi was nicely prepared. It wasn't overcooked. It was done almost perfect. I like to see some rawness in the middle but it was close. It was really good and I was quite surprised. The asparagus too was really good. It wasn't overcooked where it's mushy or undercooked where it's hard. Prepared perfectly. I'm not a veggie person but the dressing was really good. Not exactly sure what type of dressing it was but it came with it. So no Thousand Island, Ranch, French, Italian or your Oil and Vinegar. It was really good. I just wish they gave a little more. Overall it was a really good and satisfying meal. It compares well with a restaurant like Nicos. Just not the same atmosphere and you're probably going to wanna take it home to eat. Lots of parking in the very early morning as every place else is closed. They are open 24 hours. A rarity after covid came and went. So if you're looking for someplace open late night or early morning serving a good furikake ahi this is your place. Give them a try. It's worth the price at under $20. There are many other offerings to choose from and will probably try something else from here. They also do offer a mixed plate where you can have two choices off their regular menu board. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the menu. Maybe next time I'm here. The person that took my order was really nice. She was an elderly Filipina. She was very nice and pleasant especially at working this very early morning. I think her name was ate Letti or maybe auntie Letti. Very good service.

The plates are for sure a top choice if you want a nice, hearty dinner! I especially enjoyed my loco moco! The saimin was less filling and came in an instant noodle cup. Still yet, it wasn't half bad--and it actually seems like a fairly good piece if you are on a diet or budget; it wasn't as expensive as the other dishes and only came out as 220 calories! I also want to note that they have a variety of tasty dessert pastries and icee treats if you are looking for a treat after your dinner. Overall, I would say this is a great diner to try if you've got a big appetite and are looking for something to share with a friend or family! Great vibes and great Hawaiian plate meals!

My family, across multiple generations, has been going here for decades, close to back when they…read morefirst opened. We have homes in the neighborhood. And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

I asked for a refund, he said he'd call the district manager to see if we were able to. Didn't ask for my name or number to get back to me, just said to call back later. The lobster cheeseburger was nice but the lobster roll was better. The amount of lobster and the toasted buttered bun, are so good. We hope that Fat Cheeks finds a new location.

No news yet on where they'll be relocating, but I'm hopeful that I'll get to see them again soon. With that said, we couldn't miss catching them one last time before they close n' I must say, each visit we seriously inhale their food bc it is so good. Ordered my go-to Lobster Double Smash Cheeseburger, a Buttered Lobster Roll, a Spicy Chicken Sandwich (sauce on side), side of their bombdiggity crispy Fries, n' Fat Cheeks Sauce + Ranch for dipping. If their grindz are something you've been thinking about, tomorrow is your last chance from 11am to sell out!" SERVICE: friendly n' fully staffed INTERIOR: limited tables n' chairs in AC building EXTERIOR: good amount of tables n' chairs, on Roger Dunn side, gets hot out WAIT TIME: with news that they are closing, it seems their final days have had tremendous support. Visited on Father's Day, arrived in line at 11:15am. Placed order at register at 11:56am. Received food 15-20 mins later. PARKING: free garages OVERALL COMMENTS: my review has been long overdue. I remember when I first came across them at Ohana Hale Marketplace n' have been visiting ever since. When I heard that their current spot at the Ward Center was closing, I was so bummed but knew I had to make one last visit bc it is unknown if I'll get to eat their bomb food again. My must have is the lobster cheeseburger, the best of both worlds, so delicious. The lobster roll is simple, yet buttery n' meaty. The chicken sandwich comes with huge chicken pieces n' is crispy n' not dry. Their fries are the best of the best + with their sauces makes it even more bomb. Gonna cross my fingers to see where they open next, n' I'll definitely be there!
