Purchased the chicken wings with yang nyeom (sweet spicy) - we got spicy vs mild.. We were curious about the other sauces, & the cashier did we could get plain chicken wings & multiple sauces sold separately, but we wanted the experience of how the chicken would be with them preparing it. The yang nyeom was recommended by the cashier. We ordered spicy, but it wasn't overly spicy. I'd order it again. Next time, we'd like to try the Hell's gate. Luckily this humble little chicken shack caught my eye as we went speeding down the street because otherwise we would've missed it. Parking, too was easy today but it's a busy street and I'm sure it's hit or miss - but not so, the food. National Fried Chicken Day! Great day for a grand opening even though I didn't even know this until after we went here. Liked their little storefront area facing the street. We parked right of the store because I think on the left is a mechanic shop. Drove home to eat it and even though we didn't get to it right away it was still hot, crispy, and seasoned well. We got a family pack that came with 2 sauces, we chose the "Hell's Gate" and "Seasoned". Seasoned wasn't spicy, a tiny kick maybe, reminds me of your typically Korean Sauce. Hells Gate was spicy but I was expecting I couldn't handle it because of the name lol. I liked it. It had great flavor and good heat. Btw I do like spicy so try it at your own risk. My wife and daughter ate it and won't eat things things that are too spicy so maybe that'll help. Overall I thought it was pretty good. If you love korean chicken wings and you're a fan, then you must try this new place. Saw this place while passing by on Dillingham blvd. I'm so happy I got to try their yang nyeom chicken, hell's gate spicy chicken, french fries, and a wasabi mayo sauce on the side to try. It also comes with small pickled radish. The chickens were crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside. The fries were crunchy and tasty. I wished they had finger gloves to use. But overall I enjoyed it. This place in Kalihi across off Honolulu CC, great place for lunch. The chicken is so crispy and delicious and the sides are ono! Went for lunch on a Friday and wanted to come back the next day with my family. You can request to not have the sauce over the chicken and use it as a dip. Both ways are so good! You can order online to pick up your food using clover. Don't use the other ones unless you're ordering for delivery. There is a big difference on price. Finally ordered takeout from this little spot. The chicken was very crispy and you can tell that they don't use old oil. The original chicken had a very good batter, and the sweet + spicy ( yang nyeom ) had the perfect balance of both flavors. The chicken inside was cooked perfectly and it was moist. The mandoo had a good vegetable to meat ratio. We ordered 2 6pc. bone in chicken wings, a 9pc order of mandoo, 2 rice and 1 pickled radish. It came out to $45 without tip included. Best K Chicken sandwich on the island. I absolutely love their spicy fried chicken sandwich. Their sides are also on point! The people working there are always really nice and they try to get the orders out as quick as possible. They have a combo option which is nice, because their spicy rice cake is always so tasty! I don't usually get their regular chicken because their chicken sandwich is just so goooood!!! I always forget to take a photo before deleting the sandwich, but perhaps next time I will remember to snap one before devouring it. The boneless chicken was fried to perfection. The crunch from the chicken was savory and made me want to eat my order up within 2 minutes. If you're looking for a cheap filling lunch plate try their chicken bowls! I honestly thought it was going to be so small based on the picture, but it was the whole container (plate lunch size) full of fried chicken and rice! It was heavy carrying the bag, that's how you know they give a lot lol. And it was only $10.95. You can also choose a different sauce other than shoyu for a dollar more, so i tried the sauce that looks like gochujang. The only thing, I wish they added more sauce because it really only tasted like fried chicken. My husband got their honey flavor, his tasted like a shoyu based fried chicken with a little sweetness. Had a potluck with friends at the park today and wanted to take some chicken wings. Thanks to Yelp, I discovered this new-ish Korean fried chicken spot in Kalihi and I am so grateful! I ordered the family combo, which includes 20pc chicken wings, 2 flavors (got half mild yang nyeom and half spicy yang nyeom), 2 sides, and 2 canned drinks. Ordering online through the Clover website was super easy and it was ready when I went to go pick it up. The storefront is right on Dillingham and there's a parking lot shared with Chicken and Brisket and H&R Block. There were a couple of tables and chairs outside for outdoor dining, but seemed like lots of take out orders. Every single person at the potluck asked me where the wings were from and said it's the best Korean fried chicken wings they've had. Even though the chicken was cold from sitting out at the potluck, it still kept the crunch and the flavors were so good. The spicy yang nyeom had a kick so I can't even imagine the Hell flavor! Tiny roadside shack right on the side of the road on Dillingham. As sus as that seems, the chicken here is good. I think I'm pretty well-versed in Korean chicken, maybe even an expert. I've come to accept that buying chicken in Hawaii is definitely a payday meal. It's never going to be as affordable as buying chicken in Korea where I can get an entire pizza box filled with chicken for $19 and still have enough to buy an assortment of different shaped potatoes and ball-shaped things filled with cheese. I've also come to accept that almost no one here sells boneless chicken as an option. Soul Chicken does, though, and that made me pretty happy. When I went, I ordered the plain fried chicken and the spicy yangnyeom. I got a family pack so it came with two choices of sides and two cans of soda too. The battering on the chicken was good, and none of the chicken was dry. The chicken maintained its crispiness. I do wish, however, that they cut the chicken mu into larger pieces instead of random tiny slivers. At least make decent size cubes. Having some sesame salt for plain chicken would be a great addition too, but that was fine since I just made some when I got home. I hope that this place lasts. read more

We got the seasoned chicken wings and fries. The fries are breaded and fried. Which makes the fries really crispy but chewy at the same time. It's an interesting texture which I don't hate. The chicken, is well seasoned but there is entirely too much breading. Once you get through the extra thick coating it isn't bad. First, I go to many restaurants realizing that the promotional pictures used on flyers, social media, etc. will not be what the product actually looks like but boy was I pleasantly surprised. My chicken sandwich with coleslaw looked just like the pictures. Next, the freshness and quality of the food. The chicken sandwich was moist and tender. I also had my Chicken party smothered in the honey butter sauce which was definitely a great choice. The fries were also very crisp and hot but not burning my mouth hot. Finally, quality of service. My friend and I were both greeted with warm smiles. She also explained the menu to us letting us know that the chicken sandwich was made with chicken thigh meat instead of breast which I appreciated. I was a bit indecisive about what I wanted to eat and ending up changing my mind a time or two and yet she was still patient, warm, and kind to us.
