Very disappointed with the look of the parking lot. A Paper bag was just sitting in the entrance to Soul Fish, also trash all over the parking lot. I went to talk to the Manager- Claudia Clause,she was very rude and not interested in what I had to say. She even walked away from our conversation. Her first comment was not what I expected, she said "people are horrible". She didn't show much manager skill at all. Shame on Soul Fish in Bartlett. We called in a few apps and they were very good. To say the least, I was underwhelmed by the Iron Skillet Burger. I don't think it was cooked in an iron skillet at all. It wasn't a good patty to start with and it came out dry? How does that happen? The skillet is supposed to hold the fat in and cook it in its own grease, unless of course you're using the wrong size skillet. There are plenty of great burgers in Memphis that I am not ashamed to admit are better than I can cook myself, but this, this wasn't that great. And when I cook a burger in an iron skillet it comes out awesome. I wish yelp would let me post my own photos and I'd show you what I mean, but they'll take photos down that aren't of the business. A friend suggested we go here for an early dinner. ( Poplar location). The catfish nuggets & hush puppies were DELICIOUS!!! However, the Cajun cabbage was just "alright" it taste like regular cabbage with hot sauce. It could have been my taste buds idk. But, the caramel pecan pie was cold as if it was in the freezer prior and it taste like chocolate pecan NO caramel. I warmed it up hoping it would be better but nope YUCK. We have been going at least once a week since it opened! We are so happy to have some of our favorite foods...from the best fried pickles that I've ever had, to the catfish dip, to the veggies, to the fried catfish plate, to southwestern salads, and to the yummiest Cuban...so I need to go one! I sure can..oh the pickles as a side salad and the peacemaker is my sons favorite. Our family like I said craves it on a weekly basis! My mouth is honestly watering as I write! The staff there is always very polite and knowledgeable about their menu. We love supporting local restaurants as my husband and I are both local business owners! 5 stars based on service alone. Jordan took such good care of us. Drinks stayed full and she always had a smile on her face. She was managing several tables and was on top of everything. I'm not new to Soul Fish at all. I eat at the Cooper and Poplar locations frequently, but this time it was not very good. This is my first time eating at the Cordova location and I was disappointed. I called my order in, the lady on the phone was very polite , read my order back to me and quoted a pickup time. When I arrived I parked at the curbside pickup area and my food came out within 5 minutes. When I got home I opens the box and everything looked great (fish and shrimp plate with okra and greens), however the fish and shrimp were extremely salty and the okra was soggy. The greens were good and they remembered all the condiments and extras I asked for (onion slices, hot sauce, etc). Maybe they were just having a bad night, or this location may use a slightly different recipe, either way I was not impressed and will not return to this location. I will continue to eat at the other 2 locations as I've always been satisfied with the food I received there. read more

We ate here and it wasn't what we expected. The mac and cheese was not a winner for any of us. The waitress sent over the manager Britney or something like that. She wasn't friendly and didn't offer any resolution other than charging us for another side! I have never been to a restaurant that didn't offer to switch something out or redo etc. or some type of discount. The catfish was decent not a lot of flavor but hot sauce, ketchup and mustard fixed that. One friend got the half of chicken which was hen and she liked it. A few of the ladies got collard greens which they said tasted like glory greens from the can lol. This place was recommended by a local so we had high expectations. I have eaten at Soul Fish 3 or 4 times and each time the staff are speedy and friendly. The place is clean and the food is consistently great. The Hwy 64 location is kinda hidden, and add that I'm old and my mind isn't what it used to be, I often don't think about Soul Fish when deciding on where to eat. The fish is ok! The Mac and cheese is decent. The Cajun cabbage is terrible. The service is HORRIBLE!!!! I believe the manager Claudia at the Cordova-64 location is a racist and she is also very rude. My husband and I had a problem with order and asked if she could fix it. She replied "No just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you can return it. She said in their policy it says that you cannot return food. She then goes on to talk about how they have been losing a lot of money because they have had to throw away food. My date night was ruined with my husband all because the manager did not want to replace a side. I will never go to the Cordova-64 location again. Also, I have reached out to upper management through email because of this but no response! read more

I absolutely love the oyster poor boy at Soul Fish Cafe. I order it deconstructed because it's really the oysters that I crave. The roll has the feel of New Orleans, as does the roumalade. My daughter usually orders the Cuban sandwich with sweet potato fries. I will always snag a few of those tasty morsels, which I think are better than Huey's, and that's saying a lot! If I'm feeling particularly naughty, I'll order hushpuppies. Theirs remind me of Catfish Cabin's hushpuppies from 50 years ago. It's generally busy, but it's not as raucous because nobody is sitting on top of each other. The layout is open and bright. Booth seating and chair seating both. The service is as good as the food. The servers are eager to 'get it right.' They even send you out the door with a refill drink in a togo cup, if you want. Parking is a bit better at the Forest Hill location. Also convenient when you want to catch dinner and a movie as well. read more

I've always been a fan of Soul Fish. The food is always good. Service is usually good. However, I probably won't be going back to the Wolfchase location anytime soon. And we really wanted that catfish. But, after being seated and waiting for nearly 10 minutes without a server even acknowledging that we were there, we walked out. There were several servers on the floor. But they were all too busy laughing and having a good time with each other to worry about serving us. The more I watched them the more aggravated I became. We came for catfish but only got ignored because the teenage servers were too busy playing to worry about us. And then when we were walking out past the hostess stand where several servers were busy laughing it up with the hostess, there was no "I'm sorry is there a problem?" or "Has a server not been your table?". It was just "Bye". If you've been here, you know that the servers can see every table from every angle of the restaurant. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant. More than one server walked by us several times without even a "We'll be with you in just a moment". Too busy flirting with the guy at the bar or laughing it up at the hostess stand. We had rainbow trout entree and the catfish platter. The food was tasty, seasoned just right. So why the four star? Let me explained. My family decided that we would order take out because we were not aware that outside seating was available. When we arrives, we saw outside seating and requested to seat on the patio after paying for our food. The dumpy blond who was responsible for serving the tables outside ignored my family. She did not greet us nor asked if we needed anything. Her lost. We are generous tippers. After we were done, we left our trash for her to clean up with no tip. This is poor customer service. Every person who enter an establishment should be treated as a welcomed guest. Tasty southern cooking in the burbs. Kind of weird bougie/upscale vibe, but the fried catfish, hushpuppies and white beans are legit, and there's a decent selection of local brews to wash it down. This is the 2nd time I've eaten at this restaurant. For my Sisters birthday, I take her to a movie and then to dinner. The first time I ate at Soul Fish was last year for my Sister's birthday. It was delicious. We both had the Catfish dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. So this year we decided to eat dinner again. After seeing the new Top Gun movie, which, by the way was great, we went to dinner at Soul Fish. We were having a great time, and looking forward to some great Catfish. What we got, was definitely not what we were looking forward too. The first thing we tried were the hush puppies. Little did we know that the hush puppies were a foreshadowing of things to come. We couldn't figure it out, but they tasted, for lack of a better word, funny. The Catfish just tasted old and definitely not fresh. It definitely spoiled what, up until then, had been a great time. Went to their newest location for dinner tonight. Catfish as always is exceptional. But the sides fell short. The slaw needed something, more shredding, but, was missing something. Fries were ok, could have been cooked longer. The hush puppies were actually terrible. So gritty it seemed like they forgot to put the eggs in, or, enough milk or water. Could only eat one of the 3.
