Came to SoulCycle for the first time today. Located at UTC, this location was next to Alo. Staff were friendly and got me checked in. They recommended a bike location towards the back/center so that I could see the instructor. Pros: -lockers are available- you don't need to bring your own lock, there are instructions in the locker on how to lock up your items -first shoe rental is complimentary -the instructor, Georgia, was upbeat, friendly, and knew peoples names in the class -I appreciated that the room itself was on a darker side so there's a level of comfort in there as well -parking was no issue- it fell within the free validation hours. Cons: -n/a Since this is located in the mall, I did feel a little strange walking back to my vehicle all sweaty after working out. But it seems like folx get used to it. Friendly staff and incredible instructors - Jason is my favorite - he is a MUST if you plan to take a class! He is well instructed, full of resistance and amazing music. They have showers, towels are provided, waters for purchase and shoe rentals. First time? I love this workout studio! Great instructors, lots of themed classes which I really enjoy. I took a class with the instructor Maya M and she was absolutely fantastic! Wonderful energy in the room, very supportive environment. The room is dark with neon lights sometimes going off and the music is loud, feels like a nightclub meets a workout class and it makes time go by super quickly. The women at the front desk are also so helpful and getting you set up for class if you have any questions/need help adjusting the bikes. Shoe rentals are 4 dollars but you're also more than welcome to bring your own, and they have a nice water station. Locker area is a bit small but people move pretty quickly read more

I had the best time attending Maya's themed class yesterday - Disney Channel Original Movies. I booked through classpass for my first time visiting this studio. I felt immediately safe with the warmest welcome from the front desk staff who made me feel right at home. I've done cycle classes through other studios but I am not a pro by any means. The first shoe rental was free, and $4 for future rentals which is pretty standard. The only thing I didn't love was how packed the place got waiting for the class doors to open. Everyone was fumbling to find lockers and maneuver around each other to get to the bathrooms/changing rooms. This is the biggest cycle room I've seen, with bikes nearly touching one another. Clearly it's working well for them though because the class was packed and the energy was amazing. Maya went out of her way to make me feel welcome and helped me set up my bike. The music was amazing and I love how she went around the room to inspire everyone and wasn't just locked into the bike the whole time. At the end of the class she came over and asked me to manifest something and blow out the mood candle, which felt really personal and meaningful. Upon leaving I had multiple class attendees welcome me, ask for my name and that friendly energy really makes me want to come back. Maybe I'll join the studio after my class pass expires next month! Great class, great staff, and great experience overall. I was really nervous about parking and getting to the studio in time with it being at UTC, but the welcome email from SoulCycle told me exactly where to park and it was easy to get to and from. read more

I love this location! It's inside the mall, and it's super easy to park and get inside. The girls at the front desk are SO NICE, and very helpful. I love all the instructors so far and I especially love the themed rides. Yes, it's a little difficult to get checked in if you're booking through Class Pass, but if you give yourself a little extra time beforehand, it's not so bad. And for all the bad reviews for being late- it's like that for a reason! It's very disruptive to be let in after the class starts- don't be late, it won't be a problem! read more

I can finally say I tried SoulCycle and loved it. Your first ride is $20. I recommend downloading the SoulCycle app to your phone before trying it out. On the app, you will find a schedule and be able to choose a class. I was lucky enough to do a birthday ride with Hannah. This class featured music by Odesza, Fred again and skrillex. Phones aren't allowed inside during the class. I love this because you can solely focus on working out and the energy around you. The music was bumpin. The crowd had great energy and so did our instructor. I recommend trying it out if you're thinking about it! Pros: super fun, high intensity workout, great/friendly community. Cons: expensive, this specific location can be hard to find, give yourself plenty of time before class to find your way and prepare, no metrics (personally, I like to see how much resistance is added on and removed) - SoulCycle doesn't have any metrics to follow - they do it by feeling. I am a peloton girly, but would still love to do another SoulCycle ride or two in the future. They offer a variety of classes and instructors to choose from :) read more

I was really excited to have finally booked a class here. They have really good "themed rides", with all my favorite artists. I booked a "2000s hip hop" class, sounds fun right ?! However, I did not like the class nor the studio! The girls at the front desk were amazing tho, very enthusiastic and welcoming. I felt like the music could have been better. And the bikes are SOOO close together, they are pretty much right on top of each other. My right hand was probably inches away from the person in front's butt. And my cousin who I attended the class with, said she could feel the person behind her breathing down her back. Also getting out of the class was pretty bad too.. it was very crowded, the locker room area was congested. We had to wait around a bit to get our stuff out the locker. We ended up switching out our shoes in the lobby area because there wasn't any room to sit or anything. read more

Spin classes are the worst! I always come out looking like death because of how hard it is. But if you love to have your butts kicked like I do, this is the place for you. For your first class, they recommend that you arrive 15-20 min before the class. Pro tips: - give yourself another 15 min on top of your ETA because it takes a while to find parking and also to find the place if you're not familiar where it is within the mall. - you get free water and can borrow their clip-in shoes for free ($4 subsequent classes) The room where the class has the lights mostly turned off and the instructor can control the lights and the music from their laptop. It's really fun because partly you feel like you're in a club and it's dark enough that you won't feel self-conscious if you make mistakes. Another thing that I would like to highlight about SoulCycle is the fact that they use clip-in shoes instead of normal ones. All my previous spin classes experiences have always been with normal shoes and every single time without fail, there will be a point where I lost my footing and the pedal will hit my leg real hard. I got stuck all the way in the back when the class was only half full. The ladies who work the front desk are super friendly and made the check in process for newcomers easy. They explained how the class operates, helped me adjust my bike, and secured my shoes into the pedals. Shoe rental is $3 and you need to sign a waiver. The big negative is that the cycling room is insanely dark and borderline dangerous to walk around in. If you aren't used to that it can be hard to navigate. The instructor Maya is excellent, she pumps you up during the workout and creates a welcoming environment. This class will challenge you to push your limits but never felt overwhelming. read more

I've always had a difficult time finding a workout that I enjoy until I discovered SoulCycle. I love the energy all the instructors and staff give. It's an amazing community, and everyone is so supportive of each other. In regards to the classes, after trying a lot of cycling classes, I find the bikes here the sturdiest and the movements really fun and challenging. The instructors will encourage you to challenge yourself, but they won't force you to do something you're not comfortable with. I highly recommend coming!! read more

NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN.I came 5 mins before class just to find out if you buy your class through class-pass you have to link it to soul cycle..I had left my phone in the car since they have no phone in the studio policy. The girl that was trying to check me in said I can go get my phone and link soul cycle to class pass so i can attend the class. By the time I ran to my car and came back the girl that initially was helping me to get checked in was gone and they said they cant let me in because the grace period is over. I've been wanting to try out a SoulCycle class ever since I saw that 2018 movie "I Feel Pretty" with Amy Schumer haha. I've heard a lot about SoulCycle from my friends and everyone who has gone has told me positive things about it. I finally had the chance to join one of their classes. Each class is $28 which is pretty pricey. My gym membership is $19.99 for an entire month in comparison lol. SoulCycle requires you to wear cycling shoes, they have some available for rent for $3, your first time is free! Lockers are included with the class fee. I did the Hip Hop Monday class with Janelle. I was really nervous my first time since I didn't know what to expect. The staff was really nice and helped me adjust my bike before class. The room is dark and super loud. The front row had students who were more experienced. I'd suggest reserving a bike in the back if you're new. Janelle was super awesome! She had such great energy and a positive attitude! I need to be around more people like her! In addition to great music, the instructor also gives out encouraging words haha. The class was definitely challenging! I definitely do not sweat much when I exercise haha but let me tell you, I was sweating like crazy within the first 10 min of the class! I did not expect that haha. Overall, I had a great experience at SoulCycle! I probably won't be going regularly but it's definitely something I would go to with a friend on occasion. read more

I come and visit this area once a year and we started coming here last year as a group of friends and had so much fun!!! This year (in November) we went and it was so much fun!! They had all the bikes under a big tent because of COVID. Honestly, I loved it more this way! It wasn't as hot and I like being outside getting a killer workout on a spin bike. The playlist was perfect and the whole vibe so much fun! All of the employees were very helpful. If you know what SoulCycle is then you probably already have an opinion on it. Mine is that it's not worth to go to regularly, and it's pretty elitist and classist. People are never really welcoming, nor inclusive and it's so expensive. Also, because it's become so commercialized and popular, people never step to the beat anymore and it kinda looks like a mess! That being said, it's a decent workout, and can either drive you nuts or give you the time of your life (depending on the type of music that you like). I always come here with my sister on holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas) and they always have nice freebies to celebrate the holidays!! (They we're giving away free cbd cream samples on Christmas). This location is tucked away and if you park and walk it's a little hard to find (near la Colombe). If you take the elevator, you'll land right in front. read more

I've been going to this location of SOULCYCLE since it opened one year ago. And some of the same staff members are still around. They are always so helpful and charming. And they still remember me when I come to classes. I try to go 2-3 times a month when I can but I'm never disappointed. I've tried a few instructors but Janelle is by far my favorite. Her energy is contagious and she always includes people during the class by calling them out on how hard they are working. I can see why first comers may think it's rude or cliche-y but this is seriously a community of riders and friends. Everyone knows everyone and pushes one another to improve. Soul Cycle is like the LaserAway of the cycling world -- because celebrities go there, they represent themselves as a premium and ultra high class brand. Was that a strange comparison? Maybe! But, expect to pay quite the pretty penny here. They are the progenitors of the party ride and I guess rent in the UTC mall is a bit up there, so maybe they have proper reasoning? You be the judge. Just to try it, I bought the 2 rides for $28 promo. Studio is TINY! From the locker rooms to the actual cycling room. I chose to seek out Janelle and Maya for my 2 rides. Janelle was complete *fiyah* at Rush CV and Maya did pop my cycle cherry over at Spark, so how could I not? On both occasions, the cycling room was noticeably stuffy. I was sweating even before class started! Classes are definitely designed to be a little tougher. Don't expect a lot of breaks; the instructors will keep you moving! I think Janelle had an off morning when we attended her Sunday class because her message was a little weak and energy level a bit low. It's okay, I forgive her since she's super hot and ripped. BUT, Maya's ride was outstanding! And her message really did shine through and even gave me the feels! She did pop my cycling cherry after all. ;) Great vibes all around and positive energy is emanating from everyone. Amazing workout.. no lie.. as it is known as the OG luxury fitness spin studio. The instructor I took was Janelle and it was a wonderful ride I used to take her classes when she taught at Rush before. The front desk staff was awesome upon signing in, getting my shoe rentals, and completing the waiver as it was my first Soul ride. They were also very helpful on bike set-up when requesting some help with adjustment! The studio is beautiful outside and inside where all the bikes are located. The bonus is they have self-locking lockers where you make your combo so your belongings are secure. My only gripe is how crowded and uncomfortable it felt in the communal locker area. The downfall here is that it was super stuffy coming out as riders are waiting for their next class then to squeeze out of the spin room. It was like bumping into others to grab your stuff and fend for yourself to find a little ample space to remove your shoes post workout. They definitely have a great sense of community and energy here. The music and choreography are great, I definitely felt a mix of the local Spark and Rush with each movement. From beginning to end Janelle's class was challenging and revitalizing with positive vibes throughout that can be applied inside and outside of class. And they have the usual arm segment like all the other spin studios to get those guns ready for summer, hayyyy! :P 4 Stars.~ read more

Came here to try out a class with the girls yesterday. Our instructor was Jeff. SERVICE - The front desk staff was very friendly! They all made you feel welcomed. When you got into the studio, there were people who walked around helping you set up your bike. The girl that helped us was incredibly sweet. SPACE - The have lockers for you to use but the area is so tiny! We got out of class and we're getting stuff out of our locker but people were waiting all around us to get theirs. We had to take our stuff outside to change since it was way too cramped in there. SPIN STUDIO - Oh my goodness we were packed in there. Bikes were way too close to each other and if you are out of the saddle (per your instructor) and the person in front of you decides to take a break and stay in the saddle...your face is literally almost in their back. This happened to me multiple times and I was very uncomfortable. The studio itself was so hot too. No airflow or fans. The second we walked in, it felt like a hot yoga studio. CLASS - We were expecting so much more from the class but it was very dull. The music was great but there was nothing challenging about the class. The moves the instructor told us to do were very hard to follow because you could barely hear him. And when you watch him to copy movements...his moves were very gentle. Triceps dips, pushups, and tap backs...he made very minimal changes in his form so I was not sure if that is what we were supposed to do? Because it sure felt like it was not a workout. I'm glad we tried it once but we would not come back. Thought it was going to be something amazing since the prices are so high too but it was a disappointing class. read more

Today was incredible!!! It was the official grand opening and my first Soul Cycle class but most certainly not the last. A friend and I went at 8:30 with Jeff C. and let it be know that his energy and enthusiasm were contagious and engaging. Being that Soul Cycle almost has a 'cult' like following, I'll admit I was a bit intimidated while heading into the studio from the parking structure. The minute I entered the studio those worries were melted away. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, the fellow riders of the pack were amazing with great energy, and I can honestly say the 45 minutes flew by before I knew it. A couple tips, follow the directions on their website for navigating the parking structure they are spot on. Water is available for purchase but you can also bring your own and they have filtered water fountains to refill your bottle. Additionally, for the newbies like me, each bike has room for two bottles so I'll def bring a second one with me because I was trying to ration mine since there is no concept of time in the studio (a great problem to have of course). Shoes are available for rent for $3 and the rental is free for your first time. The front desk has hair ties, gum, and adorable workout wear for sale. They're finally here!! I've been waiting for six long years! Everyone in the front was so enthusiastic and so welcoming. I was so pleased to find that their pedals accept both the platform their shoes use and the clips on a pair I already own. Love being able to bring my own shoes. The studio is stunning. It's great just having single stall showers in individual rooms, with changing space, instead of the gendered locker rooms. Everything was so well thought out! The instructor was also so good. 5 stars for Laura! 3 stars for the studio. Soul Cycle has finally arrived to San Diego! I have been to numerous cycling studios throughout San Diego, but I have always heard nothing compares to Soul Cycle. Located in UTC. I think the closest place to park to get to the studio is to go to the underground parking, park near the 24 Hour Fitness entrance, & take the escalators up. In the new part of the mall, across from the Koi Pond, lots of signs pointing you in the right direction. My cousin & I signed up for the 1145a class & came around 1130a to get set up since it was our 1st class. We checked in, got our shoes, & signed the waiver. Our shoes were free but I believe that is only for the 1st time, then it is $2 to rent. 1 class (45 minutes)= $30. I wanted to check out the studio but when the previous class came out, it was chaos! There was barely any space to move around. I was getting bumped into, elbowed, lots of sorries being said all around me. Since it was a hassle, our 1145a class did not begin until 1155a. I believe there are 2 restrooms inside, but like I said, I could not explore much. But there are restrooms outside of the studio as well. Lockers available with a number lock so you do not need your own lock. We get into the room & omg, there are 4 rows of bikes, & several more bikes on the left & right of the instructor in the front. We had to shimmy our way to get to our bike! It was way too tight! There are several workers that come around to adjust you. Laura was phenomenal! She got us pumped, got us motivated, got us feeling good about who we are! I loved her choices of music! For those of you who are afraid to take a cycling class because you are uncoordinated or unsure how you will look in a group, do not be afraid of Soul Cycle. It is dark! & to be honest, everyone is so pumped they do not care about how you look! Plus, Laura stresses about community & building your neighbors up by giving them high fives which is awesome. The choreography was so sick & even though I could not keep up, when I did, I felt so amazing. Cycling, arm weights (1 pound - 5 pounds), then stretching at the end. A lot of the time was in the saddle & the bike seat was a tad uncomfortable for me. Towels are provided. read more

Pretty cool spin studio located right in the Westfield UTC mall. Instructors are inspirational. (Loved Janelle!) Space is clean and pretty and the classes transition pretty smoothly. It's well run and organized so you know you're assigned to a bike without having to wander around and pick one. Staff is around and available to help anyone new to spin. LOVED the music as well! Do note this is more of a spin/fitness class; not cycling. It is pretty good cardio. It's a good challenge depending on how hard you work. Looking forward to SoulActivate too to mix in some other cycling techniques, but definitely loved the dance vibe of the Soul Cycle class. It was fun! read more

I don't know why my original review was taken down but I went to this place several times and while I've enjoyed soul cycle in Georgetown and Boston I didn't like the classes I took here: first of all it's WAY too hot in there! Probably trying to make you sweat more so you feel more accomplished when you leave. Second, the instructors are very preachy- it's really annoying to listen to, I'm there to have fun and they should be trying to get people excited not mellow, I don't need any "inspirational" words or bs! It drags on, no I don't wanna hear about your personal problems while I'm trying to have a FUN workout. Working out requires energy!! Third and lastly, according to numerous sources (one being grabyourwallet.org) Their owner donates millions to Trump! That's right, if you spend your money here, you're supporting trump too. Completely unethical. So for those reasons, and the fact that they did something to have my original review removed I'll never be back. If you need an alternative, Rush in Carmel valley is literally 7 min away- one exit north on the 5 and they are excellent- lots of fun, upbeat music- take Opal's class. I am in love with this spin class! Finally tried my first class and it was so much fun. The instructor was so motivational as well. She got us to meditate too and sweat our worries away. Haha! She worked us. I was sweating the first 10 minutes already. Feels great! I love that they incorporate some weights into the exercise. I didn't realize there is so much you can do while pedaling! The music also made it so fun and encouraging. The location is at the mall so parking could be a hassle depending on what day you go. It is quite small inside as well. It isn't a gym with a shower or locker rooms for specific genders but they do provide the towel. It is quite pricey (~&30 for one class plus a $3 shoe rental). I wish they had a month to month option. I will definitely buy a pass again. read more

If you ever have been to Spark, Cycle Bar, Rush, or Edge you basically have taken a SoulCycle class for a quarter of the price. Studio and locker room was hot and small. We attended Janelle's class over the holiday weekend, and I really enjoyed her! She's a great teacher, super energetic, and gives all these tips throughout class to help you focus on your form. The studio is nice and spacious. They have 4 huge showers and I think 2 unisex restrooms? The place is relatively clean. I had to take 2 stars off bc the shoes they gave us were sooooo wet/sweaty and smelly. It's a super gross feeling putting your clean socks into somebody's old, sweaty, smelly shoes. When we brought our shoes up to the counter, the staff seemed indifferent about it.. so that kinda sucked too. read more

I'm from Chicago and frequent the classes there at the studio on Wacker, which I love. With that being said, I was SUPER excited to try a few classes here while on vacation in San Diego. First off, this studio is located in an outdoor mall. Get there early if you want to be on time and not rushed. After finding the studio with some help from a sales associate at another store, I tried to make conversation with the ladies at the front desk. I told them this was my first time at this studio and how excited I was to try. They dismissed all of my comments and proceeded to ask me if I needed shoes. I was never offered a tour or help with anything. The facilities themselves are super small at this location. Lockers held a small purse and shoes. There was 1 bathroom and a few showers. The class room size was extra small. I still had my hopes up, as this was going to be Hip-Hop Friday. I sat in the 2nd row, as I had never taken a class at this location and didn't want to hold anyone back if the class was intense. Again, I was let down when they allowed first timers into the front row AND when they escorted multiple people to a bike after class started. This entirely through off the groove of the class. It made me wish I had sat front row, as not to be so disturbed by the late comers. I wasn't crazy about the music choices, either. It might have been the bad service and late comers that really threw me off. I didn't feel challenged at all and was confused why we spent so much time with weights (2 weight segments). Wouldn't spend the money to come to this location again. read more
