After we had lunch at FOB, we went to South Coast Plaza to hang out, then came to the Soup Shop for an early dinner. There were 11 of us altogether. We ordered Soup Shop wings for appetizer, and that was delicious. I didn't try all three sauces but I really like the orange red one. It was spicy and good. Then we all ordered pho to follow. There were five bowls of Pho Combo, several ribeye pho, one pho with dark meat chicken, one with white meat. So the photo on the menu show the combo pho comes with a big beef bone, ribeye, meatballs, tripe, and tendon. We were all surprised when they were brought out, the combo bowls had no beef bone. When inquired, we were told the beef bone is an add-on and doesn't really come with the order. Well, that's so misleading then. Ha ha The beef pho was good. The chicken pho, according to my sisters, the broth was good but the meat was very dry, especially the leg and thigh one. My one sister left most of it behind. Her husband tried to help to eat some of the meat but he also said it was too dry. Other sister said her chicken breast was okay, just needed ginger dipping sauce. The menu prices are a bit higher than most pho places though. $20 for combo pho with no rib bone. Other pho choice with one-meat choice is about $18. But I'm sure rent is not cheap there either.
I came here from a recommendation from a coworker. The ambiance is nice--different for a Viet restaurant. It's in a nice plaza with plenty of parking. Cool, unique sauce stand. Service was great. Staff were plentiful, friendly. The pho and meats were good but WOAH that broth is SALTY. I needed 3 lemon wedges to make it tolerable. We were do thirsty after our meal. Definitely too much MSG. I read in some comments that the soup was bland so I wondered if they overcompensated. Will not be returning. Surprised this is #12 on Yelp.
Really good pho, rich in flavor and good proportions of meat and noodles. I appreciate the helpful staff and the quickness of which food/orders came out. It is a bit pricey fyi. You can dine inside or outside in the patio area.
Soup Shop used to be hands down one of my favorite late-night pho spots, mainly because there aren't many places in the area open this late. Their food and service also used to be consistently standout. I used to come more frequently when I was working retail at Irvine Spectrum, so I decided to stop by again the other day. Unfortunately, I left pretty disappointed for several reasons. For context, they used to offer unlimited noodle refills with dine-in pho, which was a huge plus for me because I eat a lot. Their pho is already on the pricier side, but I was willing to pay more knowing I could get extra noodles. This time, I found out they no longer offer the refills, while the prices remain just as high. To make matters worse, the noodles were extremely clumped together and barely separated even after sitting in the broth for a few minutes. The broth also didn't taste nearly as flavorful as I remembered. Overall, I'd say it's an OK pho spot with a cute ambiance. The staff is friendly, attentive and does a good job keeping the tables clean, and the wait usually isn't too bad, even during peak times. That said, I think it's definitely overhyped, and there are better pho spots in the area.
Finally found a great, flavorful pho in the area. Prior to going to the restaurant I called to see if they accommodate my son's tree nut and sesame allergy. They told me yes, and we decided to give it a try. From the second we walked in the service was 100%. For the food we started with the chicken wings which were delicious and crispy, and the pho was full of flavor! We definitely will be back.
Went to the fair earlier and after leaving I was feeling kinda hungry. It was already pretty late, but luckily The Soup Shop stays open until midnight, so that's definitely a plus. Came in around 11pm and ordered the pho special combination and some chicken wings. The pho was actually pretty good! The broth tasted authentic, the noodles weren't overcooked, and they gave a good amount of meat. It definitely hit the spot, especially that late at night. The chicken wings were good too, perfectly fried and nice and crispy. Nothing too crazy, but they went well with the pho. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the food and really like that they're open late. Definitely a solid spot when you're craving pho later at night. I'd come back again.
Met up with friends here for a late night dinner and had a great time. This is definitely a more modern pho spot. We tried the pork bao, egg rolls, beef pho, shrimp pho, and the sautéed scallion corn which ended up being my favorite. Everything was tasted good and nicely presented. It's a bit pricier than your typical pho restaurant, but we really enjoyed the overall experience and would come back again when we're in the area.
I ate here three times in a week. The first two times were great, but the last one really made it my last trip. There were five of us, we all ordered pho. Unfortunately, I was the only one who asked for no onions in my pho. I was a bit suspicious when the other four got their pho before I did. When my pho came out, the broth was barely warm. I looked closer and saw a few bits of onions floating in my bowl. Yes, they spent five minutes fishing out the onions instead of making me a new bowl. The flavor of my broth was ruined and it wasn't even hot enough to soften the bean sprouts. I really wanted to like this place, but after they pulled this on me, it makes me wonder what else goes on in the kitchen. At $20 a bowl, I expected better service. I probably won't come back.
Great late night food option. Not a lot of food available late at night and we've been putting off going to this joint. Service was fast and the restaurant was nice and clean. I thought it was a really good bowl of pho and the rib inside was nice and tender. We liked the eggrolls and even ordered the filet mignon with garlic noodles. Both were above average and they also had a great drink selection.
Loved my first visit here! The veggie pho with vegan broth was so good! They offered a variety of veggies, too! Also tried a bite of the beef off the rib, it was soft, juicy, and tender! Definitely coming back to try other options. Can't believe haven't heard of this place until recently.
This place serves a solid bowl of pho. The broth had a nice depth of flavor, the noodles were pleasantly chewy, and the meat was cooked well. My only complaints about the pho itself are that I wish the soup had come out hotter, and there was a giant piece of tripe in my bowl that hadn't been cut down at all. It was awkward to eat and felt like something that should have been trimmed into smaller pieces before being served. Overall, it was still a satisfying bowl. That said, there were a few things that left me confused. I ordered the Pho Combination by pointing to the photo on the menu, which clearly showed a beef rib and was labeled as the combination pho. When my bowl arrived, there was no rib included. Maybe there was some misunderstanding, but it felt a bit misleading. I ended up ordering the rib on the side for an additional $6, and it didn't arrive until I was already halfway through my meal. Our waiter recommended the sautéed scallion corn, so we decided to give it a try. The dish was a bit confusing. When I think of a corn appetizer, I expect either a smaller portion or something that's meant to be shared alongside other dishes. Instead, it was just a large bowl of corn. Since the menu is mostly pho, noodles, and rice dishes, it didn't really feel like it paired naturally with anything we ordered. We basically ended up eating spoonfuls of corn between bites of our meal. The flavor was okay, but nothing memorable, and I think it could have been seasoned more aggressively. The Vietnamese coffee also wasn't my favorite as it had a slightly burnt taste. On the positive side, the restaurant was clean and the pho was satisfying. I was disappointed to learn they no longer offer unlimited noodles,l.
The food is pretty good and consistent. The shake beef filet mignon hits each time and the noodles are not too garlicky. All the apps are good too. Glad to see Irvine finally having some more places that are actually open late since the city needs that. The employees and ambiance is really nice.
Wonderful restaurant with a nice and simple menu with large detailed pictures of each item. The food is delicious with solid portions. The oxtail pho was phenomenal, with the meat super soft and falling off the bone. The filet mignon garlic noodles were also packed with flavor. A modern and clean aesthetic with friendly and chill staff.

Tried pho for the very first time and it was nothing short of amazing. We came here with a group of friends after mini golf, and the experience started off great. The host greeted us warmly and let us choose where we wanted to sit. The seating was comfortable, the décor was nice, and the lighting created a really pleasant atmosphere. I also appreciated the menu design--high-quality, colorful pictures made it easy to understand the dishes, which definitely helped since it was my first time trying pho. We ordered the popcorn chicken as an appetizer and our server offered some hot sauce like a chili paste which was really good. And I went with the brisket pho. They brought out bean sprouts, basil, and lemon wedges on the side, which added a nice fresh touch. The food came out quickly, and the servers were attentive throughout--checking in on us and refilling water regularly. We were informed today (8/31) was their soft opening & they're the same owners as other Soup Shop locations. We've previously been to one in Anaheim. .. They're located where the old Phans 55 was next to Burger Lounge. .. We ordered the egg rolls, combination pho w. beef bone, pepper beef garlic noodles, & milk tea with boba. prOs.. .. Service was great. Attentive. Quick. Friendly. .. Space is nicely decorated, light, & open. Also, clean. .. Menu is relatively simple/small, but lots of pictures! Helps with visualizing & makes it accessible to people who aren't familiar with the menu. .. Portions are generous. .. Pho broth is rich. Viet hubby approved. .. Beef rib meat was falling off the bone & perfectly melt in your mouth. .. Open 10am to 1:30am!! Something opened past Irvine's 9pm curfew?! Shocked. .. Egg rolls were solid. delicious veggie option, super spacious interior and even option for outdoor seating. it was super clean inside and not too loud, and parking was easy to find bc it's a huge plaza i appreciate that the veg option specifies having veggie broth AND that i finally got to indulge in the 'unlimited noodle refills' option. so yummy!! will definitely return, it was perfect after a late night out read more

Had a great experience at Soup Shop! I ordered the Cajun French fries and the chicken pho, and both were excellent. The pho broth was especially flavorful and tasted amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff was also very polite, friendly, and attentive. We stopped by for dinner one evening, but the wait wasnt bad, as it was only about 10 minutes. The service was attentive, and I appreciated the staff staying on top of water refills. We ordered the combination pho, which featured a generous variety of meats and tasted pretty good. A unique thing here is the unlimited rice noodle refills, though the initial portion is filling enough on its own. As for ambiance, the lighting felt a bit too bright. I think some dimmer lights and relaxing music would definitely make the experience a bit nicer. Overall, it's a solid, decent spot for pho. read more

First things first... Why is there cheese at a Vietnamese restaurant? Second... Why is there broccoli in the pho? Third... Why is the seasoning just thrown on the chicken to add spice as opposed to a sauce cooked into the chicken as pictured on their menu? This Vietnamese restaurant is more of an Asian fusion style, not authentic Vietnamese food. Our server also forgot to put in our appetizer order, so the entree came out first. Our table ordered three drinks (horchata, passion fruit juice with lychee jelly, and jasmine milk tea). The horchata was very watery, the passion fruit juice was overly sweet but still yummy, and the jasmine milk tea was well balanced and definitely our favorite drink of the bunch. The pho broth was a little bland, and we didn't get any onions or lime on the side like usual. The ribeye in it was overcooked and chewy. They also had a small appetizer menu with limited shareable options, but the pho portion was big and able to be shared amongst all three of us. The menu was one of the most aesthetically pleasing menus I've ever seen, with pictures of most menu items and a sensory friendly menu. read more

Soup shop is a new pho restaurant located in the same plaza as Whole Foods in Irvine Spectrum area. The menu is not overwhelming, pho is their specialty and its has a variety of options to choose from starting with the standard, then you can customize your dish by adding on stuff. We had pho meat ball and brisket. The broth is clear and flavorful, good as is without needing any condiments. Hoisin and sriracha bottles were clean, not gunks in nozzles. Herbs plate was fresh. The shaved green onions on top of soup is a nice touch of creativity. Staff checked on us several times. The one clear difference from others traditional pho restaurants is service, prompt and attentive. read more

Soup Shop is a tucked away gem in the Whole Foods Plaza. We've dined here several times and the food always comes out super fast and delicious. Their teas and drinks are pretty good too. The portions are definitely good for the price and the garlic noodles are delicious. I recommend the crispy chicken and have got it several times. We'll be back! read more

Are you looking for a late night pho spot? Soup Shop in Irvine is a good spot and more on the modern side. My husband and I really enjoyed our experience here. The service was amazing and the place had some lively vibes. The food was pretty decent. The pho broth was really flavorful and it felt like there was so much noodles! The garlic noodles with the filet mignon had a nice bite. My personal favorite was the garlic noodles. We also ordered the flan and it was yummy! We took that home to-go and enjoyed it for later. So happy that soup shop opened so close to home! We tried the pho with the filet mignon, golden bao, and egg rolls. The pho was solid, we enjoyed the filet mignon and the broth was above average. I enjoy my pho with no additions so I like a broth with a lot of flavor. The golden bao was my favorite dish, a nice twist on a classic Vietnamese snack. The egg rolls were just okay and don't come with any lettuce wrap or pickled carrots. Service was friendly and quick. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance and clean decor. Great pho. Undeniably happy with the richness and meaty flavor of the soup and the portions provided. I love having plenty of slices of onion with minced cilantro and green onion with each sip of soup. Being able to get extra noodles for free blows my mind - that's how you know I'm from out of state. Seattle needs to step up their game. More free noodz!! But wow. Vietnamese ice coffee with salted cream. VIETNAMESE ICE COFFEE WITH SALTED CREAM. I ordered it to-go and I lost my mind when I drank it the next morning. Truly, I was touched by a joyous madness upon consumption. A few sips and I was completely electrified, I felt like the key tied to the kite in Benjamin Franklin's hands. It was like lightning crackling through my nervous system. The coffee put me into an Avatar state, like I'm Aang or Korra, bending all four elements. I could see infinity expand around me, everything existing and happening all at once. It's as if I fell in love for the first time. Like I'm back in high school and I'm with Stacey and we are in my $700 '98 honda civic, kissing on the roof as the old sun sets. Soup Shop's Vietnamese ice coffee with salted cream is a blazing symbol of resistance and possibility. It is defiance in a cup, proof of the tenacity of the Vietnamese and how unconquerable they are. (I'm a quarter viet btw) Drink it if you want to know what it's like to ride Halley's comet across the midnight galaxy. If you want to set your synapses and neurons ablaze with bursting starlight. Feel the magnitude of a sun being born, rediscover fire and learn what it's like to lose your mind to find it again alongside an ancient pond filled with blooming lotuses. The food was good, portions large, and they had a lot of great pictures in the menu to help show you what everything is. I love that they have a lot of variety and vegetable options as well. The staff are very helpful and nice but they do come pretty frequently to check if you need anything or if you are finished. They could probably check a few times less because different staff came maybe 15 times during our meal so it was a little disruptive to the conversation we were having. I had to tell them 4 times we weren't finished eating yet. So I felt rushed like they wanted me to get out even though all the tables weren't full. But I know they meant well and were just trying to be helpful so I will still be back to try their other dishes! read more

Excellent top notch service from a very new and modern appearing Vietnamese restaurant. Pleasantly surprised as a Vietnamese person myself at how authentic it tastes! While there is some mild sticker shock as my meal was around 25 pre tax, the serving size (quantity of protein) makes it worth it! Definitely give it a try. read more

I have been here several times now and this is definitely my new go to Pho spot in Irvine. The broth is delicious, not greasy and full of flavor. I go back and forth between the rib eye steak or the chicken protein. They always serve a good amount of protein and noodles where I have difficulty finishing my entire bowl. Would highly recommend this place if you're craving a good bowl of pho. read more
I've been to other soup shop locations, and this one is just as awesome! We came Friday night for dinner and we were seated right away. The food came out 8 minutes after and it was DELICIOUS!!! So fresh, great quality, and generous portions. If you dine in you can get complimentary noodle refills, but they are already generous with their noodles but still a nice option. Another good find that is rather close to where I shop! I ordered the rib bone broth Pho and it was pretty delicious! The meat next to the bone fell right off! The flavor was thorough and authentic! The pho was separated from the soup and the bones in my takeout! I like the service, taste, and how quickly their order was ready! Soup shop opened up super close to us so we had to try it out especially after seeing TikTok's about how great it is! I went for the first time on a Saturday to do a pick up order (their online system wasn't ready so I went in person). I wasn't feeling great so went with their pho which was good. Overall good flavor and they give you a lot. I would get it again when it starts to get cold. I went again 2 weeks later on a Friday night with my partner. We were able to get seated quickly. I ordered the horchata and he got the iced green tea, both delicious. We wanted to try their Cajun fries which were okay. They weren't my favorite. We love garlic noodles so we had to they those. We loved them! The meat was so good and tender. The garlic noodles were just right with the flavor. Overall great place and we wanted to come back and try their dessert. read more

Brightly lit, clean, open space, modern interior with a fair amount of seating inside. The menu is simple, and mostly packed with images. Service is fast and friendly and the food portions are large. You could find better, but this is a new, really solid choice for Irvine. read more

The fried rice was classic but like super salty. The tofu vegan pho was good but lacked flavor. The jasmine milk tea was amazing. It's open late and like service is fast I don't think it's that bad but not that great either read more
