Check it. Im not Vietnamese but I know a thing or two about pho and Vietnamese cuisine. How you might ask, because my wifey is Vietnamese. I give this place 5 stars because of the quality of the food. The pho is banging. BOMB DOT COM!!!! I was taught that if that broth does not have fatty bubbles in it then it's crap. However, this place is on point with the broth. I usually order the pho ribeye with a side of the oxtail. Oh man don't get me started on that oxtail. The meat is juicy and tender. The broth is perfect in my opinion. For those Latinos that do not know what pho is, it is basically a Vietnamese version of sopa de res. The only difference is the kind and cut of meat. Also they do not put their veggies in with the sopa. They bring the veggies fresh and crisp to the table. Also it has noodles. Check this place out. I believe the rule is never trust a skinny chef. I live in South Gate now for about 3 years but lived like 10 in SGV(San Gabriel Valley) where I was SPOILED by all kinds of different quality Asian food. I'm latina, but my comfort food is Pho. There's a bit of a food desert out here when it comes to quality Asian food, specifically Vietnamese, but when I found this gem I nearly cried! Haha # Whenever my husband asks me what I'd like to have delivered it is ALWAYS HANDS DOWN SOUP SHOP!!! The broth is incredible, noodles are delicious and don't taste like plastic, (that's when restaurants use prepackaged cooked noodles). The go-to meal for me is the Pho Combination with added Rib Bone. The broth alone is enough reason to come here. The place always smells amazing when I do go in person and the staff is always really great. Their corn dish and cauliflower dish are incredibly tasty, wings and drinks are great too! I convinced my Vietnamese mother to try a new pho place for once. She agreed so we went to Soup Shop. I told her that it wasn't your typical pho place so don't expect much. She didn't listen and did all the typical Vietnamese things like ask for steamed veggies instead of the regular veggies, or ask for the little sauce bowls that they have at regular pho places. The waitress was very nice and helped my mom order when she heard her speak Vietnamese. We ordered the beef rib bone pho and a ribeye pho for myself. The prices weren't as crazy as I thought, they're almost on par with most pho places. I was honestly expecting a whole different type of taste cause it felt like a new hip non traditional pho place but the soup was AMAZING. It wasn't TOO clean but it wasn't TOO dirty. Usually I like my soup dirty and cloudy cause that would have the most flavor but Soup Shop's broth was right on the money. The ingredients were great and it was a very decent bowl of soup. The only knock I have with this place was that there weren't alot of drink options. My mom wouldn't stop yelling at me because we spent $5 on hot tea. My friend and I got the chicken breast pho - one with beef broth and the other with veggie broth. They both were delicious. Ingredients taste very fresh. The presentation was on point. Chicken Pho- the broth was delish and the chicken breast was cut thinly. One thing I always pay attention to is how thick the chicken breast is, because it could get so tiring chewing on chicken breast when it's too thick! Oh, and the waitress said their sate (chili paste) is house made. So gooood! I normally eat my pho with sriracha, but the sate gave it such a good kick, I didnt need it. 2. Truffle Fries- it reminded me of the Dodger garlic fries but with that good ol truffle which made the fries so much better. 3. Roasted Cauliflower- Hands down, my favorite. I really enjoyed this option because of the flavor of the broth. I'm sure the broth alone tastes delicious, but I think the meats added extra flavor that just made the dish very enjoyable. We have been here several times and we love the food. We love the oxtail and the rib bone pho. We came in the evening and were seated after a party of three. I watched the server take their order get their drinks, answer questions at the cashier. Another couple came in sat down, fast forward their order was taken by a male server. Wow pretty fantastic pho. This review is for takeout but I was pretty impressed with their setup. I felt like there was a decent amount of the toppings and everything was still pretty hot/warm when I was able to bring it back. Pho Ribeye was very good as I am definitely going back to try some other things. Price is a bit on the higher side but overall I feel it was worth it as the pho soup base was really good and the meat quality did taste like it was a higher quality meat. I agree because I've had some less than stellar meat in my pho before and this was the opposite of that. Additionally, I saw a lot of the review for the horchata pandan. Wow this kinda blew my mind at how good it was. If you hate coconut, definately would not recommend. If you like coconut, this is right up your alley! Service was also great too as they got all of my order correctly and was able to split everything just how I wanted it so what more can you ask for?
