I had a disappointing experience at Sourdough and Co. The ice tea machine was out of unsweetened ice tea and watered down tea was coming out. I mentioned this to the staff. Instead of believing me -three people had to try the watered down tea before saying, yes it is out. Instead of offering a suitable alternative, they tried to push sodas and sweetened drinks. I don't drink soda or sugary drinks. Frustrated, I went next door to Habit Burger to purchase an unsweetened iced tea. When I returned, I discovered that my Greek salad had meat on it and I stated no meat, and my sandwich was missing condiments. I think the communication lacked-as my friend standing next to me heard my order. I approached the counter to bring these issues to their attention. Rather than receiving an apology, I was told I didn't mention the problems, which felt dismissive. I fixed my sandwich myself, but I noticed that the avocado on my salad and sandwich was starting to brown, so I didn't eat either. Service and the ambiance overall felt unwelcoming, as if we were bothering them--even though we were the only customers there. To start off me and the wife came to grab a quick dinner. The location looked empty and to be honest we were hesitant to go in with the limited staff they had. We were pleasantly impressed. Food: the food was hot and fresh. She listened to our dietary instructions perfectly and was super accommodating Service: We were surprised to see a lone worker. She was fast, kind and super professional. She is honestly one of the best employees they have at the location. Sad we didn't get her name but she was very kind. Very upset about today's experience. I ordered for pickup through doordash and got a confirmation order email at 6:33, I then noticed i clicked the wrong cheese so gave them a call to see if i can change if it's not too late. Someone then answers the phone to tell me they don't accept orders past 6:30 and that they also haven't received my order but I then got a ready for pickup email so I was just confused. The guy on the phone didn't want to make my sandwich even after i said if i can provide receipt snd the email if i can just pick it up he said no and even hung up on me the second time i needed assistance after i reached out to doordash and they said i needed to go through them. First of all, Sourdough has gotten very expensive, so I expect a nice sandwich with plenty of meat and fillings! Last time we went the ham was so fatty I couldn't eat it.. I have been here 4 times and will not return. The first time I sent my 15 year old in to order a sandwich and told her tell them I would paid after ordering at Jamba Juice. They would not let her order without paying first, ok fine if that is your policy. The 2nd time I sent her in with my CC and they would not let her use it or enter my pin. The 3rd time I sent her in with cash and they told her she could not order without an adult. Hmmm, she is 15 years old/High School. The 4th time today, I went in with her and ordered 3 sandwiches and the woman owner was not even paying attention as we ordered. I had to repeat the order multiple times. Not surprised to arrive home and 2 of the 3 sandwiches were made wrong. I called and she answered and I told her 2 of the 3 sandwiches were made wrong and she said ok. OK? I said I am calling to let you know, so you can make changes to better your customer service. She put me on hold for 3 mins. The other owner, her husband got on the phone and I told him the same thing. He said what was your order number? I said I didn't get a receipt. I don't know the order number, maybe 72 or 75. He said you're not listening to me. I said no you're not listening to me. I don't know the order number because I didn't get a receipt, we waited there. He hung up on me. I called right back... Explained the whole situation to him and told him the food is good, but the service does not match. I do not want a refund, I do not want the order remade, we are already home, live too far away and are eating our food. I was just letting them know if they wanted to better their customer service they might want to pay attention to people as they're ordering and not make it so difficult to order. Lastly, how dare you hang up on a customer? How, as a business owner do you think it is appropriate to treat your customers like that. That is so completely rude, outrageous and unbelievable that owners of a local business would act like that. I told him if he wanted to retain customers he might want to treat them better. I came in for a sandwich and drink, and my debit card didn't work, so I payed in cash, they gave me free chips after I tipped one dollar, and because it was so fast I tipped again and they gave me a free cookie, which is about the size of my face. it was peaceful and slow, but I got my food to go so I didn't stay long. read more

The day we moved to Petaluma, I had big plans to jump directly into cooking, however I was so exhausted after moving all day I threw in the towel and agreed to order our meal from a local restaurant. After much deliberation with my better half, I agreed to do sandwiches and we found this location close by with easy online ordering. I placed our orders and hubby took the car over to pick up the sandwiches. He said that when he arrived he noted they had good covid precautions and had strong limits on how many customers were inside with the food, while having others wait outaide with social distancing. They handed him the sandwiches and he was out in a flash. For my order, I had a chicken salad sando despite being mostly vegetarian because I was pooped fr all the moving. Hubby ordered the Italian and we both picked a bag of chips each. My sando was very average, not great but also not bad, just very chewy with overly crunchy nuts which were a little weird. Hubby loved his sando but he loves just about anything sandwich related. Location is easy to access right off McDowell, with convenient parking and easy online or over the phone ordering options. Prices were good for the size of the servings- I had half mine for lunch and the other half for dinner. Solidly 3 stars. read more

Been coming here a long time to meet an old friend when I'm in the area. Today there were several things that went wrong, first of all NO TOMATO SOUP (only serve 3...clam chowder/ tomato & potato) so...hard is that! Not friendly at all, I don't like giving my hard earned money to people that are not friendly (English not their first language). We always would get our soup, bread, butter served on a tray with plastic spoons. Today was strange, NO TRAY,soup and bread put in a plastic bag NO BUTTER, ( like to go). NO SPOON, but there was a plastic fork to eat our soup with. I thought maybe they made a mistake thinking we were ordering to go so watched other people that came in and ordered and sure enough everybody was getting their food wrapped to go in a plastic bag no trays and actually this cup of soup seem smaller than what we were used to. I don't know if that was my imagination because everything else seemed out of sorts They just lost two customers that were regulars. I've been to this sandwich shop a few times before Covid & have used their online system for ordering as well as just going in & placing an order. The very first time, was within the first week they were open & that was a disaster for the online ordering as it took my order & credit card payment however when I went to pick up the food nothing was there. This location did not get the order so I ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes while they made it. The owner said that they were having issues with the online order. No problem, things like this are bound to happen when a business first opens. I've had various sandwiches from here and all have been very good and fresh tasting! My favorite is the #11 which is a chicken salad sandwich. It has chunks of white chicken meat with celery, cranberries and pecans. It's delicious on a sourdough roll! Periodically they might miss something like adding bacon on the sandwich or the occasional note for the sandwich that says "light onions" but that's not too big a deal, though you are paying extra for the bacon, avocado, etc., that may not be listed on the regular sandwich. Everyone seems to be following Covid protocol as far as wearing face coverings and wearing plastic gloves for food preparation. As to whether they sanitize the tables outside for outdoor eating I haven't the foggiest idea. And I also don't know if they periodically sanitize the doors, door handles or the tables that people pick up their to-go orders from as I'm never in there more than 20 seconds or less (doesn't take long to grab the to-go bag off the table and grab a few bags of chips when it's all ordered & prepaid.). One would hope they do but again, I'm not there long enough to witness anything. I've placed numerous orders online since Covid and either I will pick it up or my friend will. I always check off for them to text me when it's ready to pick up including today, 02/03/2021 and I'm here to tell you it is pointless to do so. I've gotten 1, yes count them 1 text message saying that my order was ready for pick up and that was 10 minutes after I already picked it up. And today I sent my friend who called to say there was a sign on the door saying that if you got a text saying your order was ready you could come in but if you didn't to wait in your car until you receive the text. Well my order was suppose to be ready at 12:19pm today and if my friend or I were to actually wait for this mystery text we'd still be waiting as the time is 2:12pm (nearly 2 hours later past the pick up time given to me in the online order) and still no text message. So don't rely on a text from this location to actually come through. Though this is a chain sandwich shop so far I've liked everything I've order. Definitely a keeper! read more

Review #169 - 2020 While we were walking around at the dahlia farm, one of my older sisters must have been starving because she wanted to leave and look for food, which she rarely complains about while we're out and about. My brother-in-law mentioned that there's a sandwich shop nearby. Although I'm not too crazy about sandwiches, but I was ok with it since it was only a few minutes drive away. We showed up at around 2:15 PM on Sunday, September 20th and there was no one else in line so our group of 9 had the whole place to ourselves for a few minutes. After we finished ordering, a few more customers showed up so we must have showed up at the right time to avoid the rush. I went with the Cobb salad while everyone else went with a sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed my salad enough to the point where I didn't even need the dressing at all. My niece went with the turkey garlic pesto sandwich and she said it was delicious!! I didn't get a picture of anyone else's sandwich so I don't know what they had nor did I have a chance to ask how their food was, but I'm sure they all enjoyed their sandwiches since no one complained. We used to love this place but lately it's gone downhill. We always get the same order, turkey. American cheese with only lettuce, tomato, onions mayo and mustard and the #5 salami, turkey, American cheese with everything. Meat quantity has definitely shrunk but this is the second time they messed up both sandwich orders. The employees attitudes have also gotten worse, nothing particular just not very friendly and seem unhappy. I'm sure we will give them one more chance, since it used to be great and the other sandwich shops around are mediocre at best. read more

Online ordering system is terrible - placed an online order for pickup and the estimated time frame was 25 mins out. Received confirmation email and my card was charged. At 35 mins out showed up at the restaurant - they stated they were making the orders. 15 more mins go by - no order ready. Then they looked in the system and stated the order was lost and they would remake it. The sandwiches are mediocre at best. Also one of the sandwiches has a horseradish taste to it - but wasn't supposed to. I will never go back here. What a waste of time and absolutely slow speed service. I've worked in customer service and in a deli and this is not how you handle this type of situation. The meal should have been comped or something should have been adjusted for so much time wasted on some mediocre sandwiches. If the online system doesn't work properly, close it. Don't act like it's working just to tell the customer after they waste 30 mins in your store that it isn't working. Do yourself a favor and go to sonoma sourdough instead where they take 2 mins to make a sandwich or Luchessi up the street where they also know how to make a sandwich. read more

The first time I went to Sourdough in Petaluma, I enjoyed the Southwestern salad and it was really good. This time I ordered to go and same salad had 3X the a pint I'd lettuce and cost a dollar more. Then I ordered my hubby a hot pastrami sandwich on rye based on the ads I have seen. Boy was that a mistake! There was so little pastrami on the sandwich it was pathetic!
