I follow South 40 on social media and was very excited to come here for game day. The backyard area was closed for a special event and so we sat down in the dining area to watch the game. We saw their game day specials advertised on our table and figured we'd order off of that. When we went to check out we were notified that those specials only applied to orders placed in the backyard area during games (which we did not have access to). I figured maybe they would apply these specials since the area was closed but we were denied. I'm disappointed with the advertising for these specials and hope that the company will make adjustments. We had wonderful service in the dining area though! Hoping that we can come back in the future and the company will have worked through the kinks of opening a new business. read more

While it's a great environment for folks to hang out and keep busy with the fun activities, not great being told that you can't order food because they are backed up in the kitchen, and to come back after 20 minutes, and then ANOTHER 20 minutes, before you can order. Seriously, chips? Carrots? Anything to snack off while we wait??! Being diabetic in this environment is not a place you want to go to. Staffing attitude could be highly improved as well. read more

Let consider it was a Saturday. Dinner was to be served at 6pm. Water was put into chasers at 4pm. No steam was detected. Sterns we lit at 545pm. With only 2 ea the water never got hot before dinner was brought out. Nothing to keep pizzas hot. No sterns. No spatulas to serve pizza. Customer s had to use their hands. No forks spoons or napkins provided for the guest. Mac and cheese had no sauce. Just macaroni and cheese with no seasonings not even salt. 1 fruit tray. Watermelon not the season. Mussy. 1 erudite tray. 2 pans chicken wings ,1 pan French fries(2nd one after we complained) 1 pan mac and cheese. 2 pepperoni 1 cheese pizzas . 1,100$ . Won't be coming back. read more

I have now been to South 40 twice for adult birthday parties! Each time the food has been fresh and delicious! They have a great happy hour menu for the price! I especially enjoy their chicken strips that have a smooth batter! It's a chaotic environment in the back room but nice for families as the kids have room to run around without bother other people. As I've only been there for events I can't comment on their dinner menu or arcade area but overall this place is a one stop shop for food and entertainment. Very very family friendly! read more

I chose South 40 to host my work holiday party last December and was impressed! The venue was clean, our tables were set nicely, and we enjoyed our the bowling games and arcade. The food was pretty good. One of the items was late coming out of the kitchen and I had multiple staff members rounding on me to assure me it was coming out soon and explaining of the delay. I was very impressed at the level of service. Erik Lopez helped me with coordinating our banquet and he was very professional and took the time to introduce me to the staff that would be taking care of us that night. My co workers and I enjoyed the event and will definitely consider South 40 for any future gatherings. read more

Food is so yummy and the price is great! We devour the cheese fries as soon as they hit the table. My husband is in love with the surf and turf. The drinks are strong, service is great and staff is so friendly. My toddlers ask if we can go just about every weekend since we first visited. Lots of games and great prizes. My only comment would be about the lay out of the place so much going on in one building it's a little hard to know what's where. read more

Been to South 40 numerous times now and each time the experience get worst. This most recent time, we went in for New Year's Eve dinner with a group of 6. The place was not busy at all and we were seated right away. Each couple split a salad, 1 came out incorrectly but the server corrected it. 5 out of 6 entrees came out cold. One in our party ordered the short ribs and it came out very dry along with being cold so he had asked for extra gravy. 20 minutes later he gets the "gravy" and it turns out to be COLD BBQ sauce which is now poured all over the short ribs. For an average of $50-60 an entree, you would expect high quality hot food. We voiced our disappointment in the food with the server and all is blamed on the kitchen as if it is what it is. Not one person in our group enjoyed their dinner and we left feeling like they could care less. To top it off, 18% gratuity equaling to $96 was already tacked on to the bill and the server did not mention it when dropping off the check. It would have been courteous to at least mention it when we're handed the check. It's unfortunate because this place has potential and this neighborhood really needs a decent restaurant/bar. read more

This was mediocre at best. The sad part about my experience, before I get into the details, is that the workers there were very nice. Let's start with the food...It was bland as can be. I have asked this before and so I'll ask again. What do people in Nevada have against salt? The bison burger I had came out way underdone. I asked for medium and it came out rare. It took too long for it to come out the first time. And I still had to sit and wait for my new burger while the rest of my party finished their food, which wasn't that great for them either. Chicken breast was overcooked - definitely NOT worth $4. The buns were soggy and sweet. We need to know if a bun is sweet or not. That made the BBQ burger taste like high school cafeteria food. The hard boiled eggs on the Cobb salad were so overcooked that they smelled like sulphur. I like the concept of a DAVE & BUSTERS style of complex eith an arcade, bar, live music sports book (I think) and restaurant. Came in to attend a 200+ person event. This was a joke. There was no food. When I asked where it was, they said they fired their chef last week and were working on it. 40 minutes later, no food. Over an hour later, scraps appeared. Guacamole but no chips. Tortillas, but no meat. When I went to close out my bar tab, the bartenders were complaining about how long the event was and how their money earned per hour was not good. Perhaps, if you had the food available we paid for, people would have eaten and left or bought more drinks. Horrible service, horrible food. Ketchup and mustard on a random table in the middle of the establishment. Video games roaring in the background. Zero effort. Zero concern by the staff. At $30 per person, I could have had a feast elsewhere. Now I'm sitting at home making myself a sandwich. I will never come back to support this establishment. read more

Sergio was our server tonight. Greeted with friendly smiles all around. The garden salad I had in lieu of French fries was good. The personal pizza and wings on the happy hour menu were tasty. The wings were made traditional Buffalo style and last to make it to the table (which means they made them right!). House made Blue cheese with big chunks of Point Reyes Blue was delicious! The cheese burger was on point too! All fresh ingredients, perfectly toasted bun and a huge 1/2 pound patty cooked exactly how I ordered it. I wish the gang at South 40 many years of success. This is a cool new spot to come with the family. We split a chicken sandwich and our kids had pizza, and the food was good for bar food. The menu does include a variety of apps and meals, but skews a little on the expensive side. The kids (ages 8 and 10) loved the games and we felt comfortable letting them play while we had a drink before dinner. The bartender seemed busy and didn't greet us for several minutes even though there were only one other person sitting at the bar and two occupied tables near the bar. We've gotten more prompt and friendly service from the bartender in the back room than the main bar. Not sure it's a staffing issue or what, but hopefully the service at the bar will improve because this could become our go to spot for families dinners. read more

The games are pretty fun, but it looks like they are understaffed I guess. Nobody was in the arcade and we had to figure out why the games weren't printing tickets, found an amazing staff member that explained that the tickets are digital and go on your card. HUGE place, has room for LOTS of potential, great food, really great friendly staff. 4/5 The bowing alley game wasn't keeping score, can't complain too much, we went there and had fun. read more

We were celebrating my birthday and had called prior to reserve a table, the girl was friendly however stated we were unable to reserve as there were no tables to do so. She suggested we come down and save tables as this would be best. We arrived at 5:15pm and was able to save a few tables.. as tables opened up it seemed the host was annoyed we had asked if we could get more tables as they opened. The food was mediocre at best. The middle was an arcade and a cool open world VR game that was pretty fun. The bar area was a big open room with tables and more fun games with a mini bowling alley and more tables for dining. Came here for a birthday party and most of the arcade machines didn't work and didn't have signs on them that they were out of service. I'm assuming that is because it would look really bad to have all of those machines with out of service signs. I had to tell the staff multiple times that I needed money loaded back to the card. Great entertainment for kids and adults. We spent half a day here with the kids and they had a great time. For us parents not so impressed with the staff. We solely came for games and ping pong. Some games ate our money but got no chance to play. Arcade staff is very young and were all on their phones. We approached the staff a couple times to let them know some games weren't working. They didn't seem to care. When my kids were ready to redeem tickets all staff was on their phones and no paying any attention to my kids were choosing their prizes. They didn't engage with us at all. Poor poor customer service! My children were asking what the toys were in each box and they were more tuned to their phones an not even listening to what the kids were saying. Such a cool place and was even considering our next birthday party here as the space is big and can accommodate our very large family. Sadly customer service isn't up to standards and because of this we will reconsider visiting again. read more

Food was good, I ordered the French Dip minus the horseradish sauce (not a fan) with onion rings. Sandwich was decent, I enjoyed the addition of white cheddar but could have used carmalized onion. The auj jus was slightly saltier than I would have liked making me need a drink after almost every bite. The onion rings were very good, glassy crunch and they remembered to remove the membrain that makes the onion difficult to bite through. Service is where they really shined, even though they were very busy and only had 1 waitress on staff at the time, she was attentive and fast even with a couple of Christmas parties going on. Prices are another plus with my sandwich and onion rings running me $16 before tip which for today's world is a really good price for a sit down experience. Overall I would recommend giving them a go, I think next time I will check out their burgers. read more

This was my second time here, but first time eating dinner here. I ordered the prime rib & when it came to the table there was no au jus served with it, I had to ask for some. Even with the au jus it was still quiet dry. The mac & cheese was pretty good along with the ceasar salad minus that it had more spine of the lettuce. The jalapeño cucumber margarita very good! I think this place is brand new? It's HUGE. The restaurant is pretty good. Very casual, but great for a big group - we had our own private room on a Friday night. Great staff, food is okay. There are so many rooms - I can't speak to all that goes on here, but one of the rooms seemed like a full blown college party for adults, with beer pong and more! We went for a comedy show. South 40 is incredibly roomy, the inside is beautifully set up, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I give it a 3, however, because there were some low notes on the food-price ratio. Wife and I spent $85 on two entrees, one app, and two sodas. Flavorful food, but not $85 flavorful. I don't think we will return, only because we don't want to spend that much. That might not be a big deal for you, and if it's not, you'll probably enjoy yourself. read more

The service was amazing all the employees were very helpful and friendly, the manager made sure we had everything we needed and made the experience great! The food was amazing! The entire place was an amazing environment and it is huge! Overall I was very pleased and grateful to had such a great experience and a venue that was so welcoming and helpful! We had our son's 5th birthday in the arcade and overall it was a nice venue. What we liked: ample space in the party room (seats 30) and a TV for the adults to watch sports, cake cutting service included and we had a server to help us. Areas for improvement: the play cards that are included in the party price only had $5 of play per kiddo. You can pay for additional play, but we spent over $450 for just for our party and felt that could have included more on the play cards. The hostess didn't show us to our room or tell us where to get the play cards. Not that it's hard to figure out, but for the price we paid we feel customer service is an important detail. The communication got a little jumbled as well, but it all worked out in the end. Things to know: make sure to communicate you would like to show up early to set your room up (if you want to decorate). The pizzas that come with the party package are 12" and each kid gets two slices so you may want to add on food options if you have big eaters. We had five years old and younger so it worked. All that being said, it's a great venue with options for kids and adults, just felt what we paid for what we got was off. read more

A fund raising event was held for the Muley Fanatics Foundation. This just so happened on the biggest blizzard of the year. Doors opened fairly early. South 40 put out several great platters of various cheeses, meats and crackers to hold the crowd over until dinner. The dinner had the your standard buffet types of foods: chicken, green beans, mash potatoes. The prime rib was outstanding. Absolutely the best. The staff was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. They were accommodating any special requests thrown at them, of which I saw several. No grumbling, eye rolling or delays. But above it all, a staff member named Adreanna was the hardest working, most cheerful person I've seen in a very long time. She was busy handling the set up as guests arrived, then by keeping the food fresh and replenished in the food line. Then even when the event was over, I saw her busily doing take down. Hard working employees such as Adreanna are a rarity these days. Over all South 40 hosted a great event. read more
