This is a review for service! I took my 2011 Mazda2 here for routine service while I was in town and they did a great job. They serviced my car many times before, both routine and not, and it always went well. What really stood out to me this time is I didn't feel like bringing my 16 year old car to them was a burden. Service departments in the Sacramento area turned their noses up at my car, provided terrible service, and seemed to exist to push me into buying a new one. Not here! I am a first time Mazda owner, along with being a first time leasee and eventually buyer. Three years ago, I leased a car through South Bay Mazda (partially because of their great reviews) and walked away with a nice experience and a Mazda lease for a CX-30. The car has been wonderful and mostly my dealings with South Bay (getting the car serviced) have been pleasant. My lease is coming to an end so I started looking into my options. I decided I want to buy the car in full and had the dealership calling, texting, and emailing me asking me to come in to go over my options together so I made an appointment with Eddie. It was frustrating that I had several different salesmen calling and texting me to come in, I just picked the person who reached out first. I go in and have my appointment with Eddie, promptly tell him I want to buy the car in full, and I want an itemized list of fees. I knew to be prepared to be overcharged, however, Eddie came back with a quote for $5,000 over the residual value of my car (as written in my lease) and could not tell me what those fees were even for. He said he couldn't take them off and if I wanted to buy from Mazda itself, I had to go through a dealership (South Bay), because Mazda would not sell to me directly. He told me to call them that day, that they would tell me the same. I was floored. Eddie lied to me, several times. Mazda's customer service line was closed (it was a Sunday) and when I left and did more research, I found out I not only can buy directly through Mazda Financial Services, but also at the residual price that was given in my lease. MFS was very angry that South Bay lied to me, while also trying to overcharge me $5,000. I know dealerships don't make any money off me buying my car outright after the lease. But the way I was treated was shameful and offensive, and as a loyal customer I would have expected better customer service. I will never trust South Bay with my business ever again. read more

I've been a loyal customer of South Bay Mazda for over five years, which is why I was so disappointed by my most recent service experience. I received a mailed coupon for a $99 oil change (regularly $129), but when I arrived for my appointment, I realized I had accidentally left the coupon at home. I explained the situation and asked if they could honor the promotion, especially since it had been mailed to me and I've been a longtime customer. Unfortunately, the service department refused and insisted they could not apply the discount without the physical coupon. While I understand that businesses have policies, good customer service also involves using common sense and showing appreciation for loyal customers. After five years of bringing my vehicle here, I expected a little more flexibility or at least an effort to verify the promotion another way. Instead, I left feeling like customer loyalty didn't matter. Saving $30 wasn't the issue, the disappointing part was how unwilling they were to help. I hope South Bay Mazda reconsiders how they handle situations like this, because a small gesture of goodwill can make a big difference in keeping longtime customers. I had a really great experience today at South Bay Mazda with Ali Samhat and his manager Kyle. I've been in contact with Ali for a few months now and he's been extremely patient with me while I was working through what I wanted to do for my next car. My experience was very consultative rather than "salesy". I left feeling like I made the right decision even though I went in with the intention of getting a completely different car. The negotiation process was great. He listened to what was important to me and we came to a structure that worked for me. I never felt pressured, just like I was working with someone who was trying to provide the solution. Lilia was also amazing walking me through the paperwork. Mazda South Bay was the worst dealership experience I've had in Southern California. I was told a specific car was available, but when I arrived, they said it had already been sold and immediately tried to sell me a different one. Instead of apologizing, they made me feel like the situation was my fault. It was a very disappointing experience. I ended up buying my Mazda from Mazda of Orange instead, and I'm so glad I did. George was the most helpful salesperson--honest, professional, and patient throughout the entire process. I recently had my car serviced from South Bay Mazda on 3/25/2026. On my way back, I noticed that the rear wiper blade and arm had become loose and were partially hanging off. I immediately called the service department to report the issue. I followed up again the next day to schedule an appointment but got a date for next week. Unfortunately, before I could get it fixed, the rear wiper blade and arm completely detached and fell off while I was driving. I request that the repair / replacement of the rear wiper blade and arm be handled as a complimentary service. read more

I had been at this location for about 3 years and on my 2nd leased vehicle. Apparently by warning other South Bay Mazda clientele to be weary of leaving personal belongings in their vehicle upon turning them in for maintenance, I was wrong. A friend of mine who's a big Mazda fan, has been trying to get me to switch brands. Several of my previous vehicles have been Lexus and Toyota. Prior to going to Mazda I was driving a Tundra. Wanted something more fuel efficient and utilitarian. As I browsed such vehicles, I found the Mazda CX50 and just have always loved the design when it first came out. Low roofline, wide stance, distinct front and rear aesthetics. I ended up reaching out to my friend's referral at South Bay Mazda (Miguel Mendoza) who was the man! Patient, courteous, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. The dealership is smaller but super clean, comfortable and welcoming. I test drove the CX50 and knew it was the vehicle for me. Miguel helped me in getting the deal I wanted done. Traded in the Tundra as they gave me a great offer for it. Daniel the sales manager was super helpful as well in helping us get the deal done too. Finance with Albert was a breeze. If in the market for a Mazda, be sure to ask for Miguel Mendoza! Great overall buying experience here at South Bay Mazda! I won't hesitate to bring my CX50 here for service, and won't hesitate to come here again should I look to get another Mazda in the future. Happy with my purchase and this dealership. I had a very frustrating experience with this dealership due to poor communication and unprofessional handling of a vehicle inquiry. I contacted the dealership after finding an online listing for a Mazda3 and was told to submit my information so my credit could be run. I initially waited because I didn't yet have all my documents ready. When the listing was taken down, I followed up and was clearly told the car was still available, so I proceeded to send my information. After that, it took two days to receive any meaningful response. I was then asked to come into the dealership, but since I live two hours away, I requested the out-the-door price before making the drive. I was instructed to send my ID so my credit could be run, which I did. Immediately after sending ny id ( they already had my credit report ), I was told that the car had been sold by a coworker and was then pushed toward buying a different, new vehicle instead. Had I driven two hours only to be told the car was no longer available, that would have been completely unacceptable. I understand dealerships are busy, but taking days to respond, running a customer's credit, and then selling the vehicle they specifically inquired about--only to redirect them to another purchase--shows a lack of transparency and respect for the customer's time. read more

Bait-and-switch tactics. Be very careful. This dealership advertises significant discounts on their website to get you in the door, but once you show up in person those discounts mysteriously disappear. The price I came in for was not honored, and I was told the online pricing "was an error", which is obviously misleading. On top of that, they force dealer add-ons that cannot be removed and then claim these are "standard LA area Mazda dealer practices." That's simply not true; I've spoken with and shopped at other Mazda dealers who do not operate this way. It was an obvious attempt to increase their margins. Final price offered was over 5500 above their "online price" that brought me to their dealership in the first place. If you're considering this dealer, do not trust the online price and expect thousands in forced add-ons once you arrive. Save yourself the time and frustration and shop elsewhere. read more

I am very comfortable with this dealership. We've bought two cars from them; in 2017 and just recently. We saw some of the same employees recently who were there in 2017, which is a good sign. Nothing but good, low-pressure experiences with the salespeople, finance guys and service. I like the GM, who remembered me from 2017. I had a documentation problem which I came in to see him for and he took time out to see me and was able to fix it immediately. Buying a new or even used car is an experience you don't forget, and I think this dealership gets that and try to make it a good one for everybody. We'll hope to be back in 2027 for the CX-5 hybrid! read more

I purchased my Mazda from a dealer in a different part of LA but this location is closer to my home so I took it in for a few recalls and a standard service visit. I was super impressed with the service -- everything was done on time and they texted me a video of the oil change, brake inspections and more to show me what everything looked like and the quality of the work. I hadn't seen that before at my other dealer. Included in the price was a drop-off at my house in a newer shuttle vehicle and a pick-up by Uber to get me back. The price, when purchasing the 5-service package they're offering right now, was pretty competitive as well. Overall really impressed and I hope it continues to be this level of quality as I use the rest of services on my pre-purchased plan! read more

Top notch service department here! I have brought my 2024 CX-30 in for service twice so far and have been really happy with this team. Charlie and Josh are patient, super detailed, and extra helpful. Both times, their estimate of my vehicle ready time was exactly spot on. The waiting area is comfortable, spotless and stocked with water, tea, coffees & snacks; plus, there is plenty to do close by. I love that I receive a video walkthrough shot by the mechanic (who even introduces himself in the video) to show me the condition of everything they have assessed and also the services they have completed. When I first got my car, the Lojack was malfunctioning, so I dropped it off with Charlie to get it replaced. Even without an appointment, he prioritized me, so I only waited an hour to have it done. On top of that, he offered me some valuable advice: get a protective cover for the remote because they are more delicate than they look AND expensive to replace. I would not have thought about that had he not told me. Josh has walked me out to my car to explain answers to the tiniest questions that I have with my new car during both of my visits. Questions like "am I missing screws on my license plate?", or "would I need a wheel lock to change a tire?" don't just get an answer from him while I stand inside at the service counter. He takes the extra time to walk me out to my car to point out where my license plate screws to the car and show me on another vehicle what a wheel locking lug nut would look like (and let me know that I could also get them added to my car if I choose). Customer experiences like this scream excellence to me. There is another Mazda dealer 30 minutes closer to where I live, but I drive the extra distance because Charlie & Josh are consistently excellent. I highly recommend! read more

I've had a few bad experiences with them including pushy salespeople, disrespectful management who told me "I don't want to answer that question don't you already know this" and general lack of considerateness. Do not use South Bay Mazda! Took my car there for a 90,000 mile check up after I purchased my car somewhere else. They charge me for a bunch of little things that I didn't need and then two months later, they told me I need a new engine without even doing tests. Once I did the tests I realized I did not need a new engine. This place is a scam [UPDATE AFTER MANAGER REPLIED] We understand we didn't purchase the vehicle from Mazda -- it came from CarMax -- and the pre‑purchase condition technically wasn't your responsibility. However, because of the trust we had in your service department, we relied on your assessment. We were told -- very clearly from David Choi (from the service department)-- that the car was 'basically brand new,' and we moved forward with that peace of mind. That first visit ended up costing roughly what a replacement engine would normally cost. Based on that reassurance, we felt there was no need to purchase the extended protection from CarMax. Now, only a few months later, we are left with no coverage from CarMax, no clear answers from Mazda, and a problem we ultimately had to resolve on our own -- without replacing the engine -- simply by going to a different mechanic who approached the issue with more complete diagnostics. Knowing this, I'm not writing this to argue -- I just want the record to reflect what actually happened. Several parts of your reply do not match our experience, so I'd like to walk through the inconsistencies clearly. At our first visit, we specifically asked for a full check to make sure the car was mechanically sound. Despite extremely low oil on the dipstick during that first visit, no investigation was done into oil consumption Thousands of dollars of work were recommended and completed, none of which addressed the internal engine issue that later appeared. At our next visit after 3 months, we spoke with Jay Mendoza and were told that what we originally requested as a full inspection had actually been entered as an 'oil change with customer recommendations.' That became very convenient later, when we asked why the issue hadn't been caught during the initial inspection. We were then told it wasn't checked because it wasn't filed as a safety check/full inspection -- even though that is exactly what we asked for. During this second appointment, no diagnostic tests were suggested. We were the ones who specifically asked about a compression test, because we wanted clear information about the internal condition of the engine. We were told there was 'no real point' in running that test because you already believed the engine needed to be replaced. Only after we pushed for it several times was the compression test finally performed -- and it passed. At that point, instead of completing the diagnostic process (including the leak‑down test noted on our paperwork), the explanation suddenly shifted. We were told that after the car sat for two days, it produced 'significant blue smoke,' and that this alone justified recommending a full engine replacement. Since then, we have attempted to reproduce that smoke multiple times, both on our own and with other licensed mechanics -- after letting the vehicle sit for days -- and it has never appeared. No smoke, no abnormal engine noise, and no drivability issues. Despite that, the planned leak‑down test was cancelled based only on that single observation, and we were again directed toward replacing the entire engine. Our concern is simple: * testing was discouraged until we insisted * the test that was finally performed contradicted the engine‑replacement recommendation * the diagnosis shifted to an issue that cannot be reproduced * and the more detailed testing was stopped before being completed We are not asking for guesses or assumptions -- only transparency, consistent diagnostics, and a clear explanation of why the process moved straight to engine replacement instead of finishing the full testing that was originally recommended. read more

There is a serious recall currently and this specific location gives you the longest wait and run around! Months later and I'm supposedly still number 18 on a wait list that no other dealership i talked to has. I was calling multiple times a week just to be told the list lady was not in today and oh talk to the manager and then lied to about what number and time estimates. These guys sell cars, and their main goal is to make as much money as they can on every sale. They're not trying to give you a great deal. As long as you go in knowing that, you'll be fine. I bought a lower-priced used car from them a couple months ago. We told them straight up we were tight on cash and couldn't afford any extras. Still, they tried to push nearly $5,000 worth of add-ons--warranties, coatings, all that stuff--even after we said no. When they revised the breakdown, there was still a random $500 charge for "door guards." I asked what it was, and the salesman said it was standard for used cars--something to protect against scratches from keys and doors. I should've questioned it more, but I didn't. He made it sound like it was a standard pre-packaged thing, and I fell for it. I should have asked if they were brand new. It wasn't until I got home that I discovered they were already scratched up. Definitely not new. It was my fault for not pushing back harder, but it was also incredibly shady of them to charge for something used without saying so. Moral of the story: read every line of that bill and ask questions. These guys are just doing what a lot of dealerships do--trying to squeeze every extra dollar they can. They refused to fix my car after two visits, accused me of tampering with the car and causing some faults that they caused on the first visit. The advisor failed multiple times to get me on the phone with multiple people. The service loaner reservation system, depending on who you ask, sometimes exists and sometimes does not exist. After dozens of missed calls in the morning, they told me nobody answers the phones before 9am. Except I'd had an 8:33am phone call previously. By refusing to repair the malfunctioning safety equipment on a nearly-new vehicle (well within warranty), they're exposing me and those near me to danger. Which means they're exposing themselves to lawsuits, in the event I have a crash as result of driving blind. read more

If I could give 0 stars I truly would. I will be calling management on Monday to demand a refund for all of the money I wasted here. I'll try to keep this concise but in short: Don't bother bringing your car here for services if you bought it at a different location. They will waste your time and money like they did with me for MONTHS until I finally went out to Fontana to receive proper assistance with my vehicle. I came in 4 times with battery issues on my brand new 2024 Mazda, they even replaced it on the 2nd visit but 2 more visits later they couldn't find the issue and then tried to triple charge me on top of the initial $210 service fee to pull the wiring apart in search of the issue (which I was told was included in the $210 fee to begin with, but they backpedalled and lied, shocker). Then they (Jayden) tried to guilt me into feeling bad because the service department went "above and beyond" to find the issue (spoiler alert, they never even found the issue) "free of charge"...2 months later, Fontana discovered the issue was actually a cord connected to my battery, which they replaced. So how they didn't see the issue from the first or second visit when they replaced the battery is beyond me. This has been an EIGHT MONTH battle causing me severe mental health issues, waking up to a dead car or walking out from work to a dead car that can't even be jumped, all because of something they potentially caused or made worse nearly 6 months ago. I hope management is able to see how their employees were wrong as I will go into further detail via email and phone call Monday. No one should be treated like this or be given the run around on something that could've easily been solved months ago. They will likely try to continue to lie and blame the issues on other matters are not factors but I'm happy I have proof to dispel any of these lies. read more
