We purchase a vehicle around August 2024. Very friendly staff, a family business who treat their customers with respect and are considerate while accommodating. Purchasing the vehicle was an easy process. We offered full cash for the vehicle and asked if the price would be negotiable, there was little to no wiggle room, so we did half cash and half finance. Drove the vehicle home the same day. On Thanksgiving evening (on our way out) the transmission went out while on the freeway. Car was loaded with the entire family, had to get the car towed to the mechanic while Ubering to our destination. We spent a couple thousand dollars in fixing the transmission, and a few hundred bucks on the tow truck along with the uber on Thanksgiving night. We haven't driven the truck for even 1000 miles and already replaced the transmission, which gives this place a 1 star rating. We did not call when the transmission went out, didn't think we'd get any consideration since we were considered owners of the vehicle already. However, we called 1-week after they responded to our google review and until today, we have not received follow up. If a follow up is received, I will post an update. The entire family was friendly and helpful throughout the purchasing process. My conclusion on this experience: I purchased a used vehicle at Hawthorne Motors Express and the transmission went out 3 months after owning it. *we are proud owners of 2 previously owned vehicles, which were purchased from Enterprise Car Sales. Before I wrote this review I took the time to process what I experienced today. Never in my life have I dealt with such an issue. I went into the business excited because I've taken my time to research and speak with different dealers based of the reviews online I felt confident about where I wanted to do my business. But I was so wrong. I would like to say Marvin was great he was friendly and got to talking to me quickly but it all went down hill when they took me inside to an older gentleman hasan I believe was his name where he began to make assumptions about my situation without even running my application first. He then followed me out side and proceeded to speak to me in the most unprofessional way. I kept my composure and just relayed to him I was no longer interested in purchasing at the moment in which he began to yell information about my application where multiple other people were just listening it got so bad they had to ask him to go inside he was visibly upset I understand we all have bad days but treating people with respect and decent communication should be the bare minimum when running a business. He made multiple assumptions about certain things in my application. I really just went in to see how I felt about the business but I'm glad I walked away again Marvin has amazing potential and if you go in I suggest working directly with him. I didnt really get the opportunity to work with this establishment directly but if you want great customer service and a nice purchasing process I really would suggest going else where. Update: My car is officially A lemon. I went back & forth with the dealer for awhile. Absolutely no help, just would send me home after multiple leaks, engine rattling, etc.. I'm very young so I had no idea what I was getting into. It sucks cause they seem like nice people & I had no idea I was being taken advantage of. They probably saw me & grimaced at the fact they could get rid of this lemon. I honestly should've done my research on the car, given it being used etc... Or they could've just said Hey, I have something better for you, or something more reliable.. whatever. Get an independent inspection!!!!! They sold me a car with a broken door lock, battery that a mechanic told me won't last a week, brakes on the rear worn down, issues with timing belt, and more. Be very cautious buying "as is". I called within 48 hours to give them a chance to resolve the issue and they basically told me "as is" means go F yourself. I just found out I will need to spend 2k on repairs. nothing takes the excitement out of buying a car like getting home and not being able to lock it. These people seemed trustworthy but beware.... Edit to add: they offered to charge me for the repairs but I would obviously rather go somewhere I trust more. Regardless of the mileage, the battery and brakes should have been checked and it's hard to believe they were not aware of the lock issue since it's readily apparent. Yes, next time I will get an independent inspection. and I hope anyone who reads this does as well because if I can save anyone from being in the situation I'm in now then it will be worth it. I've never bought/thought about buying from a "Used Car Lot" but they really do have quite a selection for everyone's needs. My Lexus was parked next to a BMW, and Maserati with the passenger/eco friendly cars right across the lot. Their facilities are clean, with an extremely friendly personable family running the show. I spoke with Tarren on the phone and he was super helpful with the details and information I wanted to know about the car before heading to the dealership to see it visually. Tarren was not at all pushy (like most salesman at the big dealerships) understanding I do have a life and at any point I was ready to come take a look at the car to come on in and they would make sure they took care of me. He made the experience simple and easy to visually see the car and test drive. Vicky is the mother/wife who was a sweet heart from the start. I came into the dealership with my auto loan ready to go. She made sure to take care of all the paperwork while making sure she explained everything throughly even going back to correct "internet pricing". I found the car through USAA and they applied a discount she scrapped the previous paperwork without any hesitation, corrected her numbers and didn't try to hide ANYTHING. She gave me my own copy, circled and underlined broke it down. I believe she truly cares about the experience and making sure things are done accurately and correctly without any shortcuts. I came back the day after sleeping on the car idea running numbers and this is when I met Sara. Sara is the daughter of Vicky. You could say Sara is Vickys TWIN. They both got good looks and great personalities to match! I walked in was greeted by Sara she immediately knew who I was, offered a beverage, conversed effortlessly all while gathering my paperwork to finalize the sale. I've bought cars from big dealerships and I think this explains the "Express" that 4-5 hours it takes at a BIG dealership.. you know, to sign the papers and get everything done and ready? Yeah. It took 45minutes. If that. Sara had my back story knowing all my information before I had spoken a word to her. She went through explaining throughly and confidently what paperwork was what, and any question or concern I had simply explaining it without being rude or having an attitude. She made sure I was comfortable with everything giving me the option to check out the car again, sending Terran to make sure car was good to go. She stressed if there was anything I needed to not hesitate to call them anything at all. "Hawthorne Motors Express" completely changed the way I look at small car lots. I went through three sets of rear tires and I haven't even had the car for one year. The owner who is apparently the father is a chauvinistic person that told me don't get my panties in a bunch and told me I need to stop jumping up and down when I told him what had happened with my vehicle. The disrespect he displayed to me as a woman was appalling. I purchased the vehicle in May of 2022 and I have had to replace the tires three times. Two different mechanics told me that there was rear end damage and that the frame is bent. This is the reason I keep going through tires. The damage is always on the inner area of the tires, similar to the way shoes are worn out unevenly, where the wear is toward the middle...This is due to the fact that the frame is bent and the tires are not evenly touching the ground. the tires are literally at a slant, that's why the damage is where it appears. You can literally stand in the rear and you can see where the frame is bent. This was shown to me by two different technicians. I tried to contact Hawthorne Motors Express numerous times and I'm either placed on hold, then sent to VM, or my calls aren't returned at all. Early on, I told Sara, the owner's daughter who sold me the car, that the car was driving"wobbly" the first week that I got it, (as well as other issues that she had to fix including latches for the rear door, and clicking coming from the base of the vehicle). She said she would take care of it so I brought it back. She claims to have had the brakes done and told me everything would be fine. I still had the problem, (until I replaced the tires) And when I told her about it, she basically told me I was bothering her and she didn't have time for it, which I have in my correspondences with her. Like I said, I ended up purchasing new tires and the car drove better for approximately two months. Then the problem occurred again. Two tires blew out on me while I was driving, once on my birthday in September and again just yesterday night. Another time, I came outside to a flat tire I had to replace. Thank God for AAA, (they had to come out and assist me twice for the same problem). The dealership claims that it went through an inspection, but what's the use of an inspection if you're doing it 'in house'. I was quoted a repair amount of between $750 to $1,200 to fix the damaged rear frame. It is a safety risk and they should be ashamed of themselves for selling me this lemon. Now I will have to go the legal route in order to get the car repaired or for them to take it back. If you value your safety, I advise you to shop elsewhere. They only care about you when you're spending your money, but once you're out that door, they don't give a damn about you. As much as I really wanted to like this dealership my experience has gone terribly wrong. They were fully aware of an issue with the car I purchased and made an attempt to repair it however when that repair failed it became an issue of "you have a warranty" which as it turns out the warranty does not cover the problem in its entirety. Unfortunately I am now stuck with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate! They've known about the issue from day 1 and have yet to make it right. They've since shown little care or concern for the safety of my family nor have they made any real attempt to make it right. I would recommend steering clear if this place. read more

Let me start off by saying, I work at a local auto parts store, giving me access to many local dealerships, but the first and only place I contacted was Hawthorne Motors Express! They are truly family owned and operated, which is rare nowadays, and quite comforting. I purchased a 2012 BMW 328i from them and I love it! It's a great vehicle and got it for a good price! Like many people I didn't have insurance prior to going in there and they went over and above to help me out and work with me; oh yeah did I mention this all occurred during Christmas week (so insurance places were closed, etc.). I traded in a 1999 Mercedes Benz E320 for a 2011 BMW 535I. The car is beautiful but a lemon. I purchased the car in March and the night of the water pump went out. Took it back to them to repair, they took it to their mechanic who didn't properly repair it. I took the car to my mechanic and he found the car was missing protective plates from the under body of the car. With in two weeks of having the car I paid out of pocket 6k for repairs. the car was in the shop for about a month. Once the car got out the shop I had it for two weeks and got a power train malfunction error. My mechanic informed me that the engine had previously been worked on more than once indicated by the markings on the engine block. He replaced a cam shaft and sensor only to find out the vehicles computer had gone out. I informed Hawthorne motors of all of this and they offered to refer me to their mechanic, thanks but no thanks. I've had the car in my possession a total of 3 weeks the rest of the time vehicle has been in the shop. Their customer service during the car buying experience is immaculate but once you sign on the dotted line the attitude changes. If I can offer anyone some advice it would be this: 1. Take your time 2. Get an independent inspection 3. Make sure to purchase the extended warranty 3b. If the car is not eligible for the extended warranty - walk away from the deal. I've got a great mechanic and he even told me during the first round of repairs to return the car and get my money back. So far I've put what I'm paying for the car in reparis to the car. I dislike talking ill of people or business but beware when dealing with any used car dealership becasuet this has a chance of happening to you. read more
