Customer service is great here. No pressure sales. Test drive was easy, the salesperson does ride with you they have a pretty nice route to take. Dealership is clean, cars all presentable and they are on time for your appt with the test drive car ready out front. They'll crunch numbers, find you available discounts. Price negotiations don't go as far as pre covid, but they'll break down everything for you. Had a good experience here so if Mini was in the cards I'd feel good about giving my business to them. read more

I had a great experience at South Shore MINI! I was ready to finally get a new car but of course, first gotta test drive different vehicles to see which one would suit me best & weigh the options. I've always wanted a MINI, just for the simple fact that I think they're absolutely ADORABLE! I decided to make an appointment to test drive the 2025 Countryman. It's gorgeous in person & it's completely remodeled from the previous years. Updated touch screen, panoramic moon roof, heads up display, wireless charging, heated front seats, parking assist, heated steering, & remote start all included in the base model! I test drove the melting silver III metallic with Vescin Vintage Brown interior (favored style) & the iconic package. With the new remodeling, the car is much bigger now and comparable to the BMW X1. More overhead space & back seat can comfortable fit passengers. My favorite part about this car during the test drive was the GO KART MODE! It's basically their sport mode & man did it feel nice! Also, if you're a current/former BMW owner, ask about loyalty credits! Up to $1000 loyalty credit can be used towards a MINI or BMW. If car is totaled, I believe as long as it has been less than a year, you can still get loyalty credit. He was there to answer all my queries, and very clear in providing me all the information that I needed to think about my options and made the suggestions that only a Good Sales person would make - taking into consideration not only the commission that he would make for one transaction, but in order to gain customer Loyalty. Again - I can go on and on and on about how good this experience was thanks to him and also, everyone else that i got to interact with during this process. I made an appointment for 7:45am on the website and I dropped my car off the night before. In the afternoon I hadn't heard anything so I called. I was told the car was just going in and I would get a call back before the end of the day. I got no callback and by noon the next day I still hadn't received any communication from the service department. I called and was told the car still hadn't even been looked at. So in 30 hours from my appointment there was no assessment of the car and no communication from the service department. This isn't the first time I have received poor service at South Shore Mini. Why would they accept an appointment if they weren't going to look at the car for two days? When I drove my car away without any service, a new problem arose, with the engine light coming on and the car barely drivable. I won't be returning to South Shore Mini and the $1000 plus I paid to have my car serviced went to a competitor. read more

Horrible experience here. Brought my clubman in and it was driving fine we knew we had an issue that need to be repaired due to a very slow oil leak. After keeping the car for 6 days and coming up with a suggested $6000 estimate, Of which we approved 1 repair for $700. The car filled with smoke on the highway on the way home, and their response was "it wasn't anything we did" they now have the car but my call to the manager has gotten no response. My next call is the attorney generals office and the better business bureau! Beware cute cars but don't go here for repair or maintenance! UPDATE We were contacted by The manager Kenneth Heskett who was able to turn this situation around the car was repaired at a very reasonable price in a timely manner with excellent communication. After a terrible experience at Import Auto Works in Braintree, we were advised to go to this shop. The team here were upfront, honest & forthcoming in their assessments of the cost & the long time it would take to get the necessary part due to delays caused by Covert. Yes, they are very expensive, but we had peace of mind having our Mini fixed here & will return here for future work on our car, or even a new Mini. My initial interaction with South Shore Mini was OK but for some unknown reason it quickly devolved. The people at this dealership are quite nasty and shady, insulting and complaining, simply not above board as they try to portray themselves. They sold us a car that had several problems. Tho' they said they went over the car before we brought it home, that was a lie. It was a battle to get them to own their responsibility for making the repairs -- within a day I contacted them. This is MA where consumer laws are quite strong. The dealership that is maintaining my mini, closer to home, confirmed that south shore lied to me on the items at issue. They told me that south shore does do the work, but they're trying to deflect responsibility to me. More issues were discovered soon after. I have no interest to deal with them again. Adding more offense to their business dealings.. tho' the car is mine, in my name, and I own it, they put all mailings and emails in my husbands name. That is downright rude. It's 2020, not 1920 or 1950 or 1970. This is not the place to buy your mini. Go elsewhere. There are plenty of dealerships that will show you the respect you deserve and not suddenly start insulting and complaining and being so offensive. read more

Summary: I like the car, I didn't like the experience Pros: * Tawana was good to work with * price was very good * sales manager didn't push the upsell too hard Cons: * difficult to get VIN & pricing numbers in writing, and the numbers on the quote never did actually line up with the numbers on the invoice - it was within $100, so I accepted it * charged for "VIN etching", but cannot determine that anything was actually done. Overall: I can think of no retail experience other than buying a car where I can walk in with $35K cash and know *exactly* what I want (I did a one week Turo rental of an identical Mini to confirm I wanted the car - I conducted all my business with SSM remotely & did not take a test drive) and still have a hassle getting what I want. The only reason for three stars instead of two is that SSM is actually better than other dealers I have dealt with. I am really hung up on the "VIN etching" line item. I spoke with Tawana and two other SSM staff and was not given a description of what service was (or should have been) performed. When BMW-USA called to see how I liked my car, I pressed them on the "VIN etching". They followed up with SSM and were unable to get an answer either. Only, "bring it in and we'll look at it". I was given a few answers as to what "VIN etching" is: * "laser etching - visible only under UV light". nope - I checked panels and glass with a UV light in daylight and dusk * body panel etching (would be done at factory, so should not be a dealer option) * "bring it in to the dealer and we'll look at it". nope - tell me what service you (claimed to) provide read more

Waited 3 hours on a Saturday for a one hour $139 diagnostic...the tech needed a supervisor to confirm his findings...pushed a loaner on me and was told it would be done on Monday. Monday everyone is out of the office, still no diagnosis...pressed the issue to find someone who could...they get back to me with an estimate of $8000 in repairs for my 2010 Clubman! If there was a choice for no stars, I'd use it. I had an appointment at 130 when I arrived 15 minutes early I was told that no one would be able to look at my car until tomorrow. I had already been over this with the Scheduler that I needed my car or a loaner for the next day to go to work. I wasted an hour of my day driving back-and-forth to mini . All I needed was for someone to tell me why the check engine light was on. The car was actually running fine. I went to see Dave at Foreign motor car BMW service In Quincy. He scanned the car and fixEd the (minor) problem in five minutes and didn't charge me a dime. That is the kind of service I am looking for. I will never go back to South Shore Mini again. read more

I received terrible customer service from the Parts Department at South Shore Mini in Rockland, MA. They treated me horribly and really stressed me out. About a month ago, I purchased a remote key for my 2011 Mini Cooper S for $318. The key was later verified to be defective by another Mini service center and so I tried to return that key to South Shore Mini for a refund. The salesperson and his foreman refused to refund me for the defective key. In preparation for transferring my car to my friend who lives in Colorado, I purchased the key as a replacement for one that was lost. When I purchased the key, the people at South Shore Mini did not bother to program the key for me but instead gave me an instruction sheet. When my friend picked up the car, we didn't want to mess with programming the key for fear that it may cause problems with the one key that did work. When my friend got to his intermediate destination (1200 miles away), they tried to program the key and an electronics module (known as the footwell module) failed which caused loss of electrical power to many components. The car was towed to a nearby Mini dealer for repairs. After the car was repaired, my friend asked the technician at that that dealership to setup the new key but they were not able to successfully program it. They diagnosed the problem and determined that they key was defective. When my friends got to their final destination, they shipped the useless key back to me so that I could return it for a refund. During my encounter with the representatives at the Parts Department, I described my situation to them and they treated me as if I was ignorant (perhaps because I don't speak English so well). They claimed that there was nothing wrong with the key by pulling out the physical key from the remote and told me that I could use that. The physical key portion has nothing to do with whether the remote works or not. Then they also told me that the remote key would set itself up and the procedure in instructions was just a backup. The bottom line is that the key never worked and the people at South Shore Mini refused to refund me for my purchase even though a competent technician at a different Mini dealer tried to program that key and he couldn't get it to work. This has been a terrible experience and I will never do business with that business again. read more

If you drop it off for several hours, they will get to it after several hours and never tell you they are running late. This happens every single time I've taken it in. They are the worst. When i arrived the parts i asked for were not available so couldn't get the work done.
