I used South Shore pool supply for several years. Over the past few years I used the "hassle" free service. I have not received worse service and more hassle with this pool that I have managed for 10 years on my own. Returning to work I started using their service. I spent nearly $6,000 last season. I raised some concerns about the employees using my card for equipment that has just been replaced the previous season or was not in disrepair as reported by there staff. DO NOT keep your credit cards on file with SS pool supply. I was charged for 4 hours at a time, working from home I know that each visit was no longer than two hours, my favorite is the employee that was so high he couldn't find the end of the hose already attached to the spigot so there was only one end to find? So if you don't mind people completely high playing with your pool's electrical equipment, then south shore pool supply is for you. When I expressed these concerns I never once heard from tracy, when I called on a holiday weekend with what appeared to be a serious concern with the equipment, once again no response. I also was never reimbursed for the hours charged when staff was not here. The pool was certainly clear, I would hope for $6000. Hassle free is a complete hassle. Get your water tested there, buy their over priced chemicals but do not use the "hassle" free service that is neither without hassle or free. read more

Four days before our out-of-state company came, our pool pump died, leaving our hopes of a poolside party in the dust. After 5 hours of calling local companies, I was dismayed that either the pump was almost $1000 more than I could order it online for, or it was not in stock and would be a week to get in. Not only did Chuck at South Shore Pool Supply tell me that he could get a new pump to me within 48 hours, but he beat everyone else's price by several hundred dollars AND hand-delivered it for me. Talk about going above and beyond to make sure that my weekend plans could go forward! South Shore will be the FIRST place I call next time. I am thrilled with the customer service that South Shore Pool has given me. I am a pool novice! I had issues with my filter pump system. When I called for service they were busy at the time and Tracy graciously and patiently helped me with fixing the system over the phone!!! She never got frustrated because I didnt know what she directing she just made herself more clear. She was a brilliant teacher and technician!. We spent throughout many phone calls, about 2 hours together from 6 until 7 pm and then again first thing in the morning! She even called me to see how things were going! Terribly unresponsive - that's my biggest gripe. They set up a new automated phone system with pleasant messages, yet you can't get anyone live. Just poor business. Also, like most pool places, you pay for a weekly cleaning.....a high school kid comes by, adds a couple of chlorine tabs to the skimmer, then leaves....while saying he/she vacuumed. read more

This company is fine for chemicals and pool toys, but DO NOT use them for cleaning, repairs or installations!!! They are friendly and appear to know what they are doing, but do not have the technical expertise to get the job done. My pool had 2 leaks and they never said anything about the lack of pressure when they cleaned it. Each person that came gave a completely different answer on the pressure that the filter should be running at...from 8 to 30.They attempted to install a heater and had no idea on the fuel requirements, process or complexity. They offered to dig a trench and then backed out...thus costing us $1300 with a separate landscaper. Save time and money...drop by if you are out of shock, but find a full service provider to open, close, clean or perform more complex services. It's disappointing as they are very nice to work with. read more

I just inherited a very old pool and everyone at South Shore Pool Supply has been great. They are pleasant and professional and helped my get my green algae pit into a sparkling clear pool in no time. They have all the supplies I need and are great about answering all of my questions. I had them close last fall and open this spring and they were prompt and reliable without me needing to be there. I have been purchasing pool & spa chemicals & supplies from them for many years. I was told on April 24th, 2015 that this would be my last free water test because I didn't purchase something when I had my water tested. They claimed the test cost them $5 & I would have to pay $5 if I didn't make a purchase at the same time. This policy is not written on their website or store, South Shore Pool website ad. I had my water tested on April 29th, 2015 at Crystal Clear Pools Quincy,MA, & I mentioned the $5 cost & was told South Shore Pools test wouldn't cost more than 50 cents. South Shore Pool should post the water test free with purchase or $5 without policy . The treatment I received was very embarrassing & an insult to me personally. Never got the chance to try out the services . Upon walking into the store I was greeted by a man who I'm assuming was a manager/owner as he looked like the guy in the YouTube video. Long story short it was a quick visit. Not because I wanted it that way but because I felt rushed. He seem to care a lot about the service aspect of the business, which i actually had no objection too since I was looking for service , however I felt that if i just wanted supplies the visit would've been even faster. Anyhow I was given a number to call ...... because no one was there to help me.. ? Really ? If you don't make your "potential" customers feel welcome in your store why would I even allow you near me home ? Face it I wasn't important enough that day which means I wasn't important enough to give you my business. Also the minute I walked out to my car the man left the store right after me. Guess he had somewhere better to be than gain a new client . All in all who knows it's a small world and maybe our paths may cross again but this is my experience to what I hoped would have turned out differently.
