Today July 12, 2026 at approximately 12:17 pm after our church service a group of eight people went to Pig and Cattle located at 6105 SW St. Rd. 200 Ocala 34476 for lunch. We witnessed a couple sitting at a table near us who had a dog in a baby carriage type thing. They were feeding the dog with a restaurant fork and also giving some food out of a restaurant bowl. I pointed this out to our server Debbie who told us they are not allowed to ask any questions as service dogs are allowed. When we pointed out to her that they were feeding the dog with their fork and bowl as well as letting the dogs head on/near the table and then ask her what type of service could the dog provide sitting in the carriage she went and talked to them. Debbie came back and told us the couple had a government issued license indicating the dog is a service dog. Again, she said there was nothing she could do. I suggested she talk with her Manager as service dog or not the dog can not provide service sitting in the carriage and should not be feed at the table with their fork and bowls. Debbie stated the couple told her the dog had recently had surgery. The couple left before we did and as they passed by us the dog was very active in the carriage and did not appear to be feeling bad. After they left another person cleared off the table and then wiped it down with a cloth. We watched her take the cloth put it a container which appeared to have water/or some cleaning material in it. Later another person used that cloth on another table. Not all of us ate lunch as we decided we did not want to eat food in a place that: 1. allowed dogs sitting in a carriage. 2. allow dogs to be feed with their fork and bowl. 3. allow dogs to have their head at/near the table top. 4. use a cloth to clean a table where a dog has been and then reuse the cloth on another table. Not only did they lose income today but the likelihood of me returning to Pig and Cattle is very slim. I have always enjoyed Pig and Cattle and personally I think you prices are reasonable and food is very good. Our after Church group -- generally 8-12 people--have about four place we rotate going to. The next time Pig and Cattle comes up in the rotation it is very unlikely my wife and I will go. Afterall, how can we be sure another dog was not at our table or a cloth used to clean the table had not been used to clean a dog table? How can we be sure that the silverware we are using has not been used to feed a dog? How can we be sure that the bowl/plate we we are served with has not been used to feed a dog? They were great and let me try all the sauces on the table. The brisket sandwich and fries on the other hand, not so good. Most of the frozen crinkle cut fries were limp and not what I'd call completely cooked. Screwing up frying a brought in frozen fry is bad and hard to do. I ate maybe 4 of them. The brisket sandwich looked impressive - and the bun is!! The meat though is disappointing. Shaved super thin, maybe 4 oz of meat on the sea of bun, but the killer was the salt! I've been debating with myself on what kind of rating to give. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was good my ribs were fall off the bone, the prices for lunch were very reasonable and the place is very clean and neat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However the service by our server Jennifer left much to be desired Jennifer came to our table asked us what we wanted to drink left and brought back our drinks without straws and disappeared. I had to get the attention of another server to get straws when she finally came back she took our order and came back with it. The food was very good. But Jennifer never came by to see how we were doing til she came by with the check. Now to most people this would be acceptable service and I probably would have agreed EXCEPT during the time we were there I could see and hear the other servers make conversations with the customers, offer recommendations, and towards the end of their meal offered dessert and free ice cream they even asked if the customer if they wanted their ice cream in a cone or cup. ! I got excited hearing about the free ice cream so when Jennifer came by to pick up the check I asked her for some ice cream to my surprise she pointed her finger towards the salad bar and told me it's over there you can get it yourself! Geesh we certainly got the wrong server. We just paid our bill and left and on our way out I saw a sign advertising Peach Cobbler! My favorite it would have been nice to know it was available anyway the food was good and reasonable so we may be back. Hopefully get better service read more

Not a very fancy restaurant but the food is good and comes to the table pretty fast. I had the cattle rancher burger, plain char-grilled and topped with lettuce, tomato and onion. It comes with 1 side (pick from a long list from baked potato to coleslaw to turnip greens). I had the sweet potato. Condiments are on the table, ketchup and 4 Pig&Cattle sauces. Not impressed with this place at all. I've only been there once and will never go back. They call themselves a BBQ joint but let me tell you, I've had BBQ all over the country and this is the furthest thing from it. I got the ribs and brisket combo, which is what I always get the first time in any BBQ place because if they do those we'll everything else is probably gonna be good too. Well I was super disappointed when my food arrived. The ribs were tiny and didn't have a lot of meat on the bone. And the brisket was slices thin like what you would see roast beef sliced like in a grocery store. Flavor was ok. But it was really expensive for the very little bit of food we got. Went with a small group. Seated quickly. The servers were fast and friendly. The room was clean and attractive. Our meals arrived quickly and were tasty. I had the BBQ brisket and was surprised that the meat was sliced thin more like you would find in a corned beef sandwich. I expected it to be thicker sliced ... maybe that was on me? The mac & cheese was great as was the Cole slaw and corn bread. Best of all was free self serve soft serve after the meal. Cones only no bowls allowed. I have had some bad barbecue in my life, but this has got to be probably the worst barbecue I've ever eaten the sliced brisket. Looks like they used a Walmart meat slicer to slice some roast beef. Disappointed with the experience yesterday. A friend and probably go here about monthly and usually have good food and good service. Yesterday, we ordered pulled pork sandwich combos and one trip salad bars. Typically they don't put the hot order in until you are at least back from your salad bar trip. Got back and both lunches were on the table. By the time we started them, they were lukewarm warm. The pork was so dry even sauce didn't help, and the color was off. Mentioned it to the server and she said, probably overcooked, and added that the brisket looked overcooked too! I had ordered a sweet potato as my side and when I got the bill, I was charged separately for the sandwich, soda and sandwich. Explanation, combos don't come with sweet potato as.... I real feel that should have been mentioned at the time of ordering! Got no drink refills until I asked for a box,,,,all in all think my next barbecue will be farther east on 200. We took the kids there for Father's Day. It was busy and The service was great, everyone enjoyed their lunch. Of course the kids ate chicken nuggets so that doesn't count because they eat them everywhere. I had a sliced beef sandwich and I added coleslaw on top. If I could pick one of the worst bbq places I've ever been to this may be it. We came because my MIL wanted ribs for her bday. Apparently not all bbq places have ribs. She raved about this place. My husband and I both got the turkey dinner plate. The waitress mentioned that it was thinly sliced white meat, perfect! That's what I love! I was shocked to see it come out looking like lunch meat on a plate. Think Publix turkey breast lunch meat that goes on a sub. Even worse, it was slimy and tasted sour. The sweet potato was black and the new one was not quite as black. What I could eat didn't taste burnt. Water had a funny taste. Another new one for us: Southern Pig & Cattle. While I wanted to hang out in the Hobby Lobby parking lot (have you seen that place on a Saturday night?), everyone else was hungry so we started down 200 looking for food. I informed Brooke, our server, we were first-timers and she explained how it all worked. The folks at the table behind us were in the process of leaving and gave us some unsolicited suggestions about the brisket and baby back ribs - which I took as a good sign they felt strong enough to praise the food. And they were not wrong! Wow, the ribs were so tender; but not too over done. They fell off the bone. It was so saucy and sticky, my wife actually had to use a Wet Nap (she hates those things)! She was not a fan of the sweetness of the BBQ beans, and I think the corn on the cob was just a TAD overcooked, but everything else was truly delicious. Glad we stopped and we'll be back! read more

Apparently this place is a little chain in FL, but I'd never been here before. They're a BBQ/fried Southern food join with a huge restaurant seating layout. Their menu has a huge selection of BBQ, steaks, fried seafood, and they're famous for their salad/dessert/soup all you can eat bar. They have all types of salad including different varieties of pasta salads, 3-4 soups and huge selection of desserts that's buffet style for $8. My boyfriend had a HUGE 12 oz prime rib, which he said was super good. I had the fried catfish with the blackened grilled shrimp. It was absolutely delicious. Neither of the seafood options were fishy. Their cocktail sauce came in premade packs and it was actually pretty good. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. The BEST part was their garlic bread...I'm serious when I tell you it was the best garlic bread I've ever had. I also had the Mac and cheese as a side and it was okay.
