Their pho is soo home-y. Like it doesn't taste like restaurant quality but in a GOOD way. Tastes like it was really made with homemade style and love. Their kimbap is BOMB! I love me some tuna kimbap and theirs was so delicious. Also got their cheese bulgogi kimbap which was also delicious. Downsides: REALLY wish they'd have their hours for longer. Tried coming on the weekend a few times around 1pm and they'd alrdy be sold out of their kimbap:( PLEASE extend your hours !!! I beg !!! The inside seating is also tight ! The food....bomb. It's just perfect. I like simple stuff and having the best of both worlds (for myself) Korean and Viet food. That is what I grew up with and will always be down for. Not making this a fusion place is a up because I've been eating at fusion places and they are good too, but it's really refreshing to go back to the basics. I like pho bo but their pho ga is really spot on for a simple meal that makes you feel at home. The kimbap (spam, tuna, etc.) is my go to all the time bc I can have it for lunch or whenever and it's a nice simple one meal. The location is small and easy to get to, and close to me to get my fix. I live close to downtown and Natomas so finding a Korean or viet restaurant that is simple is hard. Staff is really friendly and looking like they are having fun cooking. Very fun, clean, and beautiful environment. It's the perfect spot for lunch or when you just want a nice bowl of soup. Visited Thursday afternoon, a bit after 12pm, to grab some kimbap. There was still a good amount available. The kimbap is simple, not too flavorful. I enjoyed the fried tofu a bit more than the tuna mayo. I love that they used perilla leaves in them because that's my fave so some more in them would be wonderful. Quick and easy snack/lunch. I have been wanting to come by to try Southside Super for a couple of weeks and finally had a chance. My husband and I ordered the Xiu Mai, the chicken pho and the tuna kimbap. The portions are filling and perfect for lunch. The Xiu Mai had a lot of flavor and the tomato soup complimented the flavors of the meatball sandwich. The chicken pho had a light but flavorful taste. Everyone there was friendly and welcoming. I am looking forward to coming back to try the other items and feel the take out boxes are perfect to grab for lunch at the office. read more

Southside super is a hidden gem. We live in East Sacramento and travel over here on weekends for lunch. With seating for just 14, it's very clean and has convenient parking. The menu is just the right size with a handful of made to order items in addition to premade chilled and hot foods. The service is simple and friendly. They're flexible in changing up ingredients to accommodate eating restrictions. The ambiance is quiet with light but trendy indie music. I always order one of each of the made to order items which rotate. Everything is delicious. Pretty soon they'll have a line out the door at all times as soon as people figure out what's going on there. read more

My husband and I ate here last Friday. The restaurant is very tiny, but we were able to grab a couple seats at the bar at noon. You walk in and go straight back to the register to order food. We ordered a chicken pho, bun riue, and a spring roll. Everything tasted just fine. Nothing stood out as incredible. I thought portion size was very small for price. At $15 a bowl I expected more. Both dishes could have used more noodles, more flavor, and more condiments(pho). Sadly I was hungry an hour later. Maybe a good option for those who work close by but I don't think this one will go into my rotation. Very nice ladies working there, fast service, aesthetically pleasing and clean. Saw this place linked on several other restaurant's instagrams and decided to check it out. It is tucked away in a tiny, narrow space, offering a cozy dining area. The food is Korean and Vietnamese grab and go items. I tried: Commoners Rice - braised pork belly and quail eggs. Good portion size, and very much reminds me of grandma's home cooking. Very simple, but delicious comfort food Kimchi Fried rice - spicy fermited cabbage mixed with fried rice. Not too spicy. I thought it would have bacon or another protein, but it does not. Good option if you want some kick. Bulgogi Kimbap - grilled beef that's been marinated in a sweet soy base sauce, with crunchy veg, wrappedin rice and seaweed - a Korean maki roll, basically. Great snack, and it's huge. Could easily be a meal by itself. Pork Meatballs - this is actually a meatball with vietnamese flavors, in a Banh Mo sandwich (mayo, cilantro, carrots, daikon on a french roll) with a side of tomato soup for dipping. My fav of the four dishes i tried. Soft fluffy bread, tasty meatballs, crunchy veg, so texture + savory flavors cut by the acidic tomato soup for dipping. Spontaneous trip here for lunch today after seeing their Instagram account. Wife had the chicken pho and loved it - broth was very refreshing and delicious (apparently they add lime leaf to the broth). I had some of the pork belly rice and the spicy pork dosirak both were excellent. Nice cozy location friendly and kind staff. Even have unique things for sale like Pocari Sweat (Korean soft drink) and shrimp chimps. Will be back to try their kimbap (apparently sell out by noon). read more

The Bún riêu I had is fantastic! The portion is perfect and the soup is packed with flavor. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Even though I was already full after my meal, I just had to take some kimbaps home for later. I am definitely looking forward to coming back soon! read more

I'm not one to post reviews, let's just say this is my campaign to keep the chicken pho on their menu through the summer. I stumbled upon this place scavenging yelp for an early morning bowl of pho. Yes, there's cheaper places in south sac with bigger portions... but I'm coming from Natomas with impatience, cravings and a hangover. Luckily for me Southside opens at 9am on a Saturday. Their chicken pho, I would say is similar to if not a northern style, a clear broth with a refreshing flavor. The portion is not small but just right for the morning cure. On each table there is FRESH pickled jalapeños, Thai chili peppers and limes! I went back this past Saturday to see if it was a fluke or maybe my hungover taste buds... but no it was even BETTER! The most AMAZING part, I made a slight comment looking for a zero soda the first time I was there and now they stock it! I mean it's a small shop but hey they listen. Service what is there not to like you order and then it's comes right to you. So I urge my fellow yelpers who are in search of the next day cure to go and try their pho ga here before they remove it for the summer! read more

I've been meaning to try Southside Super for a long time - since Pizza Supreme Being gave them a shoutout on their IG! But haven't been able to go due to my work hours. My partner and I went their last minute yesterday (Saturday) and most things were sold out. I expected this since their food looked like it flew off the shelves when we went today (Sunday) but we got the Xiu Mai and GOOD GOOGLY MOOGLY! I haven't been able to find Xiu Mai here in Sac so it's been a few years since I ate it so I didn't know what to expect but it blew me away. It was a lovely texture, the tomato sauce/broth was delicious and the bread was so crispy but soft inside. The pickled veggies added to the sandwich gave a great contrast to the meatball and bread. I've usually only had Xiu Mai as bread on the side + the soup/meatballs to dip but after experiencing it as a sandwich; I don't think I want to go back to that way of eating it. Today we came in because they had sold out of the galbi jjim which is my partner and I's favorite Korean food; We got very lucky to get the last two galbi jjims too! Usually, we go all the way down to the Bay Area to Daeho but honestly? I prefer Southside Super's version. Southside's is still flavorful despite being light on the fatty parts of the rib. There's cute small rice cakes (that are PERFECT, not too mushy, not too hard/undercooked, just a nice bouncy consistency. Kimchi is great too. The people who work there are amazing and welcoming! Very patient with all the questions we had. I honestly can't wait until we get to order again - I'm still thinking about the Xiu Mai lol! Everything I got here was so yummy! The staff was very welcoming and the smell of homecooked food hits you right when you walk through the doors. The bun rieu was super yummy with lots of real crab meat! My only gripe was my broth wasn't piping hot, so I will be sure to ask for super hot broth next time :-) tuna Mayo kimbap was satisfying and the egg salad sandwich was light, fluffy, and had a slice of cucumber to add some crunch to the sandwich. Such a cute and cozy place. We had the chicken pho, it was full of rich chicken flavor. Wished there were dark meat chicken (my preference) and bigger size bowl but overall, a solid bowl of pho ga. We had their kidnaps too, I'm a sucker for kimbap, safe to say that I ate a whole roll by myself. The staff are warm and nice. If you want to try their food, I'd recommend going early because they make enough just for the day. The first time we tried to go, they were pretty much sold out towards their closing. Looking for Korean food in the AM and this location popped up while driving on Hwy 50. Location was small but functional, food was very good! Grabbed a bulgogi kimbap and kimchi fried rice to go. Bulgogi kimbap was excellent and very filling, sharing one roll with my wife which filled us both up. Kimchi fried rice was eaten at home and was very good being made with spam and sour kimchi which made the dish. All in all, I'd say Southside Super is the neighborhood spot of my dreams: an affordable, charming shop offering some of the best Korean and Vietnamese comfort food! I tried their egg salad sandwich, tuna mayo kimbap, and their beef bulgolgi dosirak. Don't be fooled by the to-go style deli layout-- the flavors are on point with a clean, home-style flair! While the Korean food scene in Sacramento is very strong, their kimbap was the best I've had from a restaurant! They also offer dine-in dishes like pho, which I will definitely plan to try out next time I'm around. Hope more people get the chance to try it out!!! read more

Formerly June's (RIP) and temporarily Lofi, Southside Super maintains the vibe of fast-casual homey Asian diner. Service was ultra-quick - we were in and out in 20 minutes. At the time, you can only get the chicken pho ($15) and the Vietnamese meatball sandwich ($9) for made to order dine-in but you can grab any of their deli hot/cold foods and eat there as well. I had the vegan kimbap. It was ok. I didn't care too much for the tofu skin. It had a lot of rice and veggie. The cashier didn't seem to have any personality, but I wouldn't either if I had to work in a small @$$ corner. It's a really cozy place. It reminds me of walking into an airplane bathroom, you, have to dance with people if you're in the corner paying for your food. I'm 5'2 and 140 lbs. I could only imagine being in there when it's packed. Will I go back, maybe if they offered more vegan options. It's conveniently located for the downtown workers. read more
