Southwest was great for years, including post COVID. Now, not so much. It is just like the big three carriers with extra fees for checking luggage and everything else. Unless you are on an early flight, you are likely to be delayed (I was, and was late getting home). The free bag check added about $100 value to a flight, and of course the prices have not gone down since that was taken away- prices have only gone up. In addition, seats are now assigned, and you get the customary announcements asking for folks to voluntarily check bags. If you are in a late boarding group, your bag will be gate checked. You can tell the employees don't like this, and some of the passengers were disrespectful when they had to check their bags. My last flight was booked fairly close to the date, and I ended up standby- which really meant that I didn't have an assigned seat because the plane was full. I guess they hoped folks would upgrade to first class for a 90 minute flight. My flight itself was rough. It was one of the most turbulent flights I've been on, without beverage or snack service. That's no fault of the flight crew, who were great. However, if you're on Southwest, be prepare to shell out an expensive price for a product that isn't what it used to be. read more

Southwest at Nashville, you need help. First of all, why is the Priority line for checking bags way at the far end away from everything? I had to walk way over to the left to drop off a bag, then back to the TSA area. Sure, the line was non-existent, but probably because nobody saw it. At the gate area, it got worse. The gate agent didn't really announce anything. He just started taking pre-boards and didn't announce other pre-boards or priority boarding/military. As an A-List preferred member, he did announce that but I had to tell him there were still others that needed to board before me. He was kind of a jerk too with his announcements. Finally, on the flight, the flight attendant put the bottles of Jack Daniels IN my ice, which meant there was barely any ice in the cup. Plus I don't know where those bottles have been. Hopefully not smuggled from Mexico. I'm not sure if it's Nashville or not, but it wasn't a good day at the airport OR on the flight with Southwest. read more

The absolute funnest SWA flight ever! On my way to California by way of Nashville and it was stewardess Gabbi's birthday. She kept us in celebratory mode with her fun nature and warning travelers that if they left their belongings behind, they would be on Facebook Marketplace. We were all in stitches lol. At BNA, Michele and Jeffrey were friendly and helpful as I checked in for my flight and dropped off my luggage. What an indelible time! read more

I've now been on 2 round-trip flights on Southwest since they did away with open seating and "bags fly free". As I hold a Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa, I still get a free checked bag and I normally get Boarding Group 5 when I fly (using the Choice option). Coming into Nashville, Gayle and I flew on 737-700s, which felt like older planes with seats that were not all that comfortable. Leaving Nashville were 727-800s which were much better. Past that, my feeling is that the changes have sucked the "fun" out of these flights, with the flight attendants being more formal. Yet, the bottom line remains the same in terms of getting me from A to B, efficiently and at a decent price. I'm not sure Southwest has completely figured out their boarding groups, as at least a couple flights have been slow getting on and off. My take is that more folks are taking their bags on and not finding a spot directly above or across from their seat. Hence, folks are sometimes "wandering" the aisles looking for any space and subsequently mucking up the processes. And now that my Iowa visits are not limited to University of Iowa related volunteer work and my other Southwest flights (like the Nashville trip) are situational, I wonder if its time to ditch the Southwest credit card and use other airlines (like United) more. read more

Once again, Southwest for the let down. Plane delayed coming in, which means I was delayed, which means I missed my connection again! Then the literally went to send me back past my origin site, with a 10 hour delay, making my arrival over 24 hours past the original. So Southwest, will no longer be using your services as you suck and are no longer the champion of 'the passenger' you used to be. You instead have changed your model to not only profit you best, but it is clear that you as a company and the general attitude by your employees towards the customer has turned to complete crap. But as always, the customer service are always hilarious when boarding the plane, especially at the Detroit area. Being from Atlanta, I was a Delta loyalist for the longest, and for good reason...one of which was effortless directs from ATL to just about anywhere. However, once I moved to Nashville, I had to become a "connecting guy" or look for other options, which is how I ended up with Southwest...and so far, I'm not mad at it. Flying out of BNA on Southwest is convenient and easy, as they consider BNA a "hub". With hub status, the directs and options, which seem to be increasing by the month, are wonderful. Most of the places I frequent, which include ATL, NYC, ORD/CHI, DAL and SAN all have easy directs! Service on SW is usually solid and friendly, and efficient. From gate agents to flight attendants, never had an issue. Additionally, they are very communicative ahead of your flight whether it be delays or gate changes. My biggest gripe with SW is the loyalty program, which I know they are working on and making changes to, including boarding, in 2025. Hopeful for a more reward-positive program that offers more than a free drink and early boarding. Also, tossing screens or some type of inflight entertainment on the back of the seats wouldn't be the worst thing either...and work on that in-flight WiFi! Overall, I enjoy SW. Looking forward to the improvements coming to the programs and planes. read more

I've always enjoyed flying Southwest. The flight attendants making announcements on board will add some levity to the experience - sometimes bordering on stand up comedy. I will miss the unassigned seating. I can usually get my favorite seat, window on the last row. And since those seats don't recline, if it isn't a full flight, I'll often get the row to myself. This particular flight had a fair amount of turbulence. I shot a short film of the wing as we bounced around. Snacks were fun! Oreos and pretzels. I can't remember the last time I had an Oreo. Arriving in Sacramento, had one of the softest landings in a while. Overall, a great trip! read more

We were delayed and missed our connecting flight by 5 minutes. We were initially told that we couldn't get vouchers for a hotel but they ended up giving the three of us $200 vouchers for each of us. They were nice and genuinely tried to be helpful. read more

The new seating assignments are terrible. To claim your seats, you must do so in within 48 hours of each flight. So if you have a layover, you have check-in later to get a seat for that leg. Do better, Southwest. read more

Even though I had luggage issues with all the cancellations around Jan 6 storms, every person under SWA from gates to baggage area, where I sat for over 23 hours waiting for a bag pull that never happened, was nice, funny and made a stress time a little more bearable. They won't even let their employees adjust seats in the same area to allow my partner and I to sit next to each other even with their row being completely empty. The employees claim the system doesn't allow them to without us dishing out more money. Then they have a power tripping Nazi guy with a little iPad making sure no ones swaps or moves seats. I was really taken aback at the rude, unfriendly customer service reps for southwest at terminal c25 and terminal D8. In the past, customer service has been friendly. I nicely asked at terminal C25 if the flight leaving for Orlando was full as the one I'm on is delayed. She didn't even look at me or the computer and said... Yeah with a glare that could burn if that was possible. Ok, D8, they ask to check bags as the flight is full, so I offer and again no eye contact or words, just takes my ID and puts a tag on my bag without aligning it so it sticks on the handle. I then see an article that SW has increased its employees at the Nashville airport. For as much money as it costs for a ticket, I'm not asking them to be bubbly and happy. But, if we didn't fly on SW, they wouldn't have jobs. A little kindness goes a long way and these two women really need some education on customer service. This was my first time flying Southwest. We flew Delta going to Milwaukee. I was warned by someone that Delta is like a Mercedes and Southwest is like taking a bus. Well, I did not book this airfare so I had to go with the flow. One of the flight attendants on the Milwaukee to Nashville flight was super enthusiastic and really loves her job. It was amazing to see. On the flight to Ft Lauderdale from Nashville, there were 44 people on the flight and 143 seats. So, I had my own row and loved it. Besides that, there was a 6 or 7 year old boy flying alone in front of me. One of the flight attendants was so sweet with him. She sat with him just about the whole flight and played cards with him, escorted him to the batbroom and made sure he was safe, made sure he had what to eat and drink. It was so nice to see. She really treated him like her own child. I know I have heard Southwest on the news lately for thousands of canceled and delayed flights. My flights were on time. Also, the amount of legroom was about as much as Delta Comfort +. I would definitely consider booking with Southwest on my own. read more

The worst ever experience with the Nashville team at Southwest! Our flight from D.C. was delayed due to mechanical problems. Once we finally arrived in Nashville, no one gave us an update as to which gate to go to get to San Diego! The vector boards didn't even list our flight. My direct flight to D.C. was delayed from 3:50 p.m. to 11 p.m. before being canceled due to "weather and technical issues"--yet another Southwest flight to D.C. still took off. I was rebooked (after an hour in line) on a 5 a.m. flight to Baltimore, not D.C., adding a 45-minute commute. That flight was also canceled--with no notification. The agent was rude, and the only option was a late-day flight with layovers. I asked for a refund and booked with American. I lost a full day, plus over $350 in hotel and parking costs. Delayed n cancelled!!! Once now twice they are OUT!!!! LGA to Nashville. Southwest volunteered !!! us after we arrived to be cancelled for our 6 am flight to Nashville due to overbooked flight. We had booked over 3 months prior. The initially said the next flight they could book us on was 4 day later. By some miracle they got a same day flight but 6 hours later. Going home flight delayed 4 hours then cancelled. The issue here is the customer service folks act like they were doing you a favor to rebook you on a flight the next day instead of direct the new flight has a connection so arrival at final destination was 24 hours delayed. No hotel or meal or cab allowance offered. We incurred additional $175 and still not home. I will NEVER fly Southwest Airlines again. read more

We purchased a ticket to fly to Nashville and St Louis in 2019 right before the pandemic. We tried to get our money back but they would not let us but they did extend our tickets for 2 years so we finally used them to go back to Nashville and Chattanooga. The only complaint I had was for my airplane ride home we were supposed to leave at 6:00 p.m. and now they have a leaving at 10:00 p.m... But we made the most of our time by enjoying the Nashville zoo. So they offer two check bags and two carry-on bags for free so that's awesome. They give you a free cup of soda and a bag of pretzels for the 2-hour ride. But they do offer whiskey drinks and you can pay to watch movies and have the internet. Like any airline you're going to have your ups and downs and problems but for the most part Southwest has been very accommodating with the pandemic issue. This review is only my opinion. SWA has always made changes for the worse, in the past. However, they have done so gradually and always staying ahead of other airlines. Now, SWA is making so many changes at once or frequently that they are no longer a better airline than most. And these are no minor changes. They adversely affect the casual, frequent loyal, and business customers. The current leadership (If you can call them that) is flying the airline straight into the ground. The company founder, Herb Kelleher, would be so ashamed and outraged at the direction they are taking his once outstanding airline. What a shame to see this airline being destroyed. This is a golden opportunity for other airlines to poach disenchanted SWA customers. I'll be looking for other wings to fly with. read more

Nice staff. Organized. Flew put of Nashville to Norfolk VA. Great crew. I paid extra to get in the A1-15 and got the #1 spot on both flights. Chose the non stop flights. More expensive ticket. But i was like 30th to board with all the "preboards" so still had to go back to the middle to get an aisle seat and be able to put my luggage directly overhead. read more
