Ive passed by many times and was curious to try the food. The restaurant is quaint and unique. Its like an open concept type of thing in an older building. The architecture is really nice. I came for lunch and ordered the spaghetti bolognese since its my favorite. It come with bread, salad, and they make sure to bring olive oil and balsamic. Everything was delicious! The focaccia was crunchy on the outside and soft and warm inside. The salad while simple was also good. And the spaghetti was seriously delicious. The portion sizes are great, I had some leftover pasta that they boxed up for me. I really loved the service. They were kind, attentive, and helped me choose what to order. The food came out switfly which is nice when you are on a 1 hour lunch break. I will definitely return with some friends next time so we can share more menu items! Food was delicious. The risotto was cooked just right, but it only had one grilled scallop on top. My favorite was the shrimp salad. So fresh and tasty!! I am glad we went on a breezy day because I can feel it can be a bit warm during sunny and hot days. We just had to go back to enjoy the Fazzoletti di Pere again for lunch last Friday! It was every bit as good as last time. My daughter loved it! We were told the specials. Super friendly staff and they are ever present, checking in on you. We had (not their real name) eggplant appitizer, beef pasta and pear ricotta shrimp pasta. Coke (5$), Italian beer (10$) and extra bread (4$). They also gave a lemoncello aperitif. So good! Live entertainment was going to start before we left. We rode Brightline to Miami and looked for a Yelp lunch recommendation. Soya & Pomodoro was an outstanding find. Fresh homemade pasta, lasagna and an eggplant sandwich. Gelato for dessert. The food and the service were superb. This place has been open over 20 years and the owner and staff continuously checked on us to see that we were satisfied. Didn't live up to expectations! We walked in at 7pm on a Friday night to it being completely empty, which was a bit strange. I ordered the pasta with the fresh catch of the day, and my friend ordered the ravioli. While the ravioli was unique and enjoyable, the pasta (pictured below) really fell short. I had heard very good things about this spot but this felt like a below average pasta, far too Al dente, and lacked flavor. Ambience would have been nice and quirky but as the front wall is open to the street, we sat sweating through the entire meal (even after relocating to a seat with some coverage from the 2 lone small fans), and I left with 16 mosquito bites on my legs. I had been looking forward to trying this spot as one of my friends raves about it. Unfortunately I had mixed feelings about it... don't get me wrong, the food was great. We had the 2 specials of the evening and wine. The unpleasant part of the meal was the service. Our server had an attitude, upset they were even there. But it got worse after a rushed check and asked to speak to the manager. The manager nodded hearing everything we had explained but honestly seemed like he didn't care that we had an unpleasant experience. A wonderful experience and I really can't believe it was my first time! Living in downtown, I've passed by this spot so many times and have never made my way over. I finally made it happen today and loved it so much! To start, this venue, is cozy and intimate. Perfect for date nights, catching up with friends, a birthday dinner or just a bite alone to people watch and enjoy live music (which I think is only on the weekends but I could be wrong hehe). We ordered the bruschetta classica, mushroom ravioli, fazzoletti de pera, and the lamb shanks. My favorites were the mushroom ravioli and the lamb shank was delish too. I wasn't a big fan of the fazzoletti de pera -- very underwhelming and lacked flavor but overall the food was solid 4.5/5. Service was great and the ambiance really steals the show here! Soya was recommended by a friend who knew we were going to be near the Olympia Theater downtown Miami. We walked in and were amazed by the style of the restaurant. There is so much to look at as if you were on a movie set. The food was all delicious...from the egg plant Parmesan to the Mediterranean salad to the fettuccine with a variety of mushrooms. We order the octopus Carpaccio appetizer and it was really good. Nicely prepared, fresh and perfect for a summer evening. Main courses linguini vongole (not that good), lacked a lot of flavor. The bolognese was good... light sauce and pasta cooked perfectly. Same for paccheri al sapore di mare..... This was very good and the sauce was perfect... Definitely something I could order again. Dessert - we had the millefolie and it was disappointing. Overall food is good and service is attentive and friendly. Some dishes are a hit or miss. read more

It had been close to 7 years since I last visited Soya & Pomodoro... and man, not a single thing has changed! Owned by two Italian men, this hidden downtown gem is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant. The place is far from fancy, but the food is everything your palate needs to make you feel like you just transported yourself over to Italy. Perfect hand made pastas accompanied by delicious sauces, and fresh bread that leaves you craving for more. The pasta was sooo good that I did not even stop to take a pic. Knowing we would be visiting downtown Miami, we reserved a table for two on a Saturday evening. As all of the Yelp photos depict, the restaurant was indeed eclectic with a unique use of an old bank space. We knew there was no a/c in advance but the fans moved the August air and we were comfortable. The staff was attentive from the moment we sat down and their unhurried attention continued throughout the dinner. We started with a shareable insulata di spinachi ($15). Basically a large bowl of uninspiring baby spinach with residual pieces of pear, walnuts and goat cheese and a honey balsamic dressing that tasted like off the shelf simple balsamic. For the price, perhaps a bit more attention would help for what seemed like a salad afterthought. My wife's fettuccine bolognese ($20) was served with a ragu sauce. Presentation was on point and the entree was very good, though not "MUST TRY". I chose the stinco d agnello ($32), a braised lamb shank served with soft artichoke pieces over a layer of freshly mashed yellow potatoes. The flavors combined very well and the shank was tender. My only complaint was that the red sauce was a bit too salty for even my taste. Our meal was accompanied by a basket of fresh bread pieces and balsamic vinegar and EVOO for dipping. The better accompaniment to our dinner was the trio of musicians playing jazz between the Pompeii pillars. Perfecto. We finished with Americano coffee ($4) , a delicious brew of quality roasted beans. And a panna cotta served with strawberries and a simple syrup ($13). If you're craving a sweet, skip this one. CAUTION: When you get the bill, taxes and an 18% tip are included in the cost but "suggested tips" are also on the receipt. In all, there was nothing on the menu that was out of this world. Located on 1st Street in Downtown Miami, Soya e Pomodora is one of the, if not the best Italian Restaurant in the Downtown area. When my office was located in the Alfred I DuPont Building, it was a fairly frequent lunch and sometimes dinner spot. It's Italian (the boot not American) fare at its best. The lunch specials are creative and they leave you wanting more. The menu is simple without a lot of ostentatious flare. Insalata Antipasti Secondi Piatti Antipasto Panini Pasta Fresca Dolci And of course Expresso As I previously stated, the lunch specials are great but you can't go wrong with the entire lunch menu. The portions are just the right size and there's so much to choose from...on my last visit, I ordered the Lasagna Classica Allá Bolognese. It was a worthy of several Drooling Emojis! The Lasagna was tender and the Bolognese was so fantastic, it needs its own fan page on IG...not that I've ever done anything like that. My lunch companion had the Pan Seared Trout Lunch Special. She said it was absolutely wonderful! I had that special a couple of years ago when my boss took me there for my birthday. And I can truly say that she was not exaggerating! I was happy to return to Downtown and stop into Soya e Pomodora. Chef Christian was there as usual, greeting guest, working the dining room, clearing tables and basically doing what a chef does. My office is not located Downtown anymore and I don't get here as much as I would like. But my post 1st quarter resolution is too get out more now that it is slightly safer to do so. And I will definitely come back to Soya e Pomodora. I know I've gushed over the lunch menu but if you decide to stop in for dinner, take your time and relax. I had been wanting to come here since my birthday last July, but when I went to make the reservation for our group, I was sad to see that the entire restaurant was closed for. I believe it was two weeks as the staff was on vacation. Go figure, very common in Europe for people to takeoff the entire end of summer, so no surprise as it is a very authentic restaurant. I was delighted to go there recently And unexpectedly on a Thursday night. We started with Wine, a Finca don hector Argentinian Malbec. Delightful. We also got the bruschetta bread and it was literally to die for with enough tomatoes for even the greediest palates (me). They were all so generous with the bread and butter that they gave, which was warm, soft and delicious. The reason I wanted to come here so bad was because they have my absolute favorite Italian dish on the menu, commonly known as fiocchi rapera, a Stuffed tortellini with cheese and sweet pear. Although this is not the best version of it that I've ever had, it was absolutely delicious with lots of extra sauce, to dip our bread into and super flavorful and creamy. My dad got the short rib, ravioli with cream sauce as well, a special of the day, and we were so glad. We both shared both dishes and were extremely stuffed at the end. But not to stuffed for dessert ! The crème brûlée was divine and we ate it as if we have not just had the biggest meal of the week. We were delighted and surprised to see a live, singing and jazz performance unexpectedly. It was the perfect accompaniment for the perfect meal, and the venue itself is decorated and styled to look genuinely like Italy, specifically Pompeii. There is no air conditioning as the entryway is big and open, but many fans keep you nice and cool. I still recommend going at night if you're going in the summer though. The moment you walk into this restaurant you're transported from downtown Miami to a quaint Italian town. The decor and set up of this place is spectacular. The staff were also very helpful, friendly and attentive! The food was excellent. I had the lunch special which included a side salad, bread and my Fazzoletti De Pere e Formaggio (pear and cheese pasta in white sauce with shrimp). The dish tasted fresh, light and so delicious! I recently stopped by for a first date situation here, and thus there are no pictures of either my food or her. Having heard it's rated as one of the more romantic, casual restaurants and that it has live jazz music, I invited her here. From what I can tell, there are two spaces: the original "atrium" restaurant with no air conditioning and a newer indoor space that does. Since it was a cool night, we sat in the original space which was reminiscent of the old country. The menu isn't as expansive as my usual favorite but the items we had were of great quality and tasty. We skipped on the appetizers and went for their pasta dishes and a bottle of Asti Moscato, lightly sweet and a perfect social lubricant for first date jitters :) For our main we both agreed on their Fazoletto di Fromaggio y Pera (Pear Ravioli). The cream sauce was rich without being overpowering, the pasta just past al dente and the pear filling lightly sweet. Although they normally serve it with shrimp, they prepared my plate without and were careful to track both orders correctly. This is definitely a great first date spot! read more

Cool and intimate place that has been in downtown for years. I opted for something a little healthier this time and I got the branzino with potatoes. Adding the olive oil made the dish 10x better. I have been here once but I completely forgot about this place until we passed by and I remembered having a good experience here. We got a table and ordered a bottle of rose, it was refreshing. Then to start we ordered the Bruschetta and it was pretty good and fresh, a good portion. We were four people was weren't super hungry so we shared two entrees. A couple of my friends shared the Bolognese Pasta and said it was amazing! I shared with my other friend the Mushrooms Risotto and the risotto was cooked to perfection. Creamy, rice was al dente, it was really good! However, it was served on a parmesan crust and the taste of both mixes wasn't the best. We ended up eating only the risotto part.
