My son & his GF took me to this restaurant on a whim and boy, am I glad they did! Everything on their menu looked delicious. They had a variety of refreshing drinks, as well as an array of sandwiches and combo plates. I decided to get one of their combos that had an egg roll as part of the meal. It was so good!!! Their Vietnamese egg rolls are the bomb; I even ordered some to take home. Did I mention the pastries they had displayed along the counter? Well, I got some of those to take home too. So yummy! After having coffee at What's Brewing? I stopped by here to actually eat something (I hadn't eaten yet). I didn't want anything strong smelling or even a loud environment due to a particularly brutal migraine, so I thought a nice, non-intimidating sandwich would work. I didn't see a lunch menu despite it being noon, but my eyes landed on a breakfast croissant and I ordered that with bacon as my meat of choice. It was delicious. Probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I'm not lying. The croissant was perfectly buttered, light, and flaky. It was hot, too, and soft. Many croissants are hard and crusty, but this felt like 90% air and it was just . . . excellent. The egg was also very fluffy, and the bacon and melted cheese went very well with the egg and croissant. I'm actually ashamed to admit I ate it all as I'm not supposed to eat all of my food due to certain restrictions. But man. That was worth it. I came on a weekend after lunch to try the bubble tea and surprise Asian bakery items. They ran out of boba so I didn't get to try any. The odd part was that I didn't realize there was no boba and the pricing didn't mention them boba was included. So, maybe boba is more or I didn't get boba and I was supposed to? Not really clear in that, but I ordered the almond milk tea. The milk tea was a little more sweet than I was used to. It was a good mix of tea flavor and almond. The tea was a little bitter and tasted more like a heavy green tea than a black tea. The price is $3.75. Not the cheapest, but an average price for San Antonio. I also noticed a variety of Asian bakery items. I tried the taro bun and it was OK. It doesn't have the signature fluffiness of Chinese bakery items and the taro was a little runny. However, if you need a bakery fix for Chinese pastries, this is probably the best you will get in San Antonio. It was also $2.25, quite a high price. They aren't a big box chain or make it in bulk so I could understand the need to increase the prices. There were some cakes and other items, but they didn't look appealing at $4-6 a small slice. I would probably go back to try some pastry items and support them, but I think there's still a ways to go when it comes to perfecting the art of French pastries. The pastries look less pretty than La Madeleine, but I have a feeling they are likely less sweet and taste more authentic than a chain store. Try it out and see what you think! read more

I think this is the most similar spot I have found to a Lee's Sandwiches back home, though they are more of a patisserie than a bakery. They have a very small selection of packaged baked goodies and a larger selection of desserts such as mousses, macarons, etc. Doesn't look like they sell baguettes either like a typical Viet bakery. I ordered the lemongrass beef banh mi, and the taste was pretty good! Veggies were fresh and the lemongrass flavor was strong. The baguette wasn't very impressive in terms of freshness and aroma, but at least it didn't cut my mouth. I was surprised to find that the beef was kind of like a cold cut patty shape, instead of the usual bulgogi-style cut - not sure how I feel about this. They do have quite an extensive menu that also caters to more American tastes, so it seems that they are trying to please a larger crowd variety. My rating is only towards the boba tea! I ordered the passion fruit tea with lychee and my other ordered Thai tea with boba. Both were pretty bad as we have enjoyed many tea places that offer boba lychee etc. and the flavor on both of our drinks was so bad we ended up throwing the drinks away. Passion fruit had a syrup taste to it that was also sour, it almost tasted like medicine. The Thai tea was also really off. The service was also very odd when we arrived there was someone working on drinks but we were never greeted or acknowledged for a good 6-7 minutes. It wasn't busy either. Savoreux Patisserie was quite good, I enjoyed my impromptu macaroon breakfast however I will say that they were not the best macaroons I've ever had. Kudos for the different and unique flavors, but the quality was a slight miss. Nothing is better than that initial, soft "crunch" you get when you bite into those delectable little French cookies and I didn't feel like I got that entirely. I tried a coffee one and a coconut one and I will say that since that was the first thing I had eaten all day (this was at around noon) they were pretty tasty. I'm mostly excited to go back and try their Vietnamese sandwiches! They've got a variety of bánh mì, a liberal selection of cakes & pastries, bubble tea, breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, and more. I enjoyed the sandwich combination with the soup. The milk tea was prepared nicely too. They had no more Boba balls so, I tried the grass jelly instead and it did not disappoint. 4.25 stars. Perhaps I am merely lamenting my own limited culinary skills. Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I haven't had a banh mi sandwich all year. But I'm pretty convinced the banh mi I had from Savoureux Patisserie is one of the finest I have eaten in years. First, the baguette itself is great. It has a soft supple inside and a slightly crispy exterior. The multi-textural experience is superior to the questionably stale bread you can find at certain competitors to remain unnamed. Second, the toppings are well proportioned. You can actually taste the pate in this sandwich which gives it yet another interesting textural note. The creaminess of the pate, the crisp carrots, and the soft bread really carry this sandwich from above standard to truly excellent. I also had one of their teas. On this occasion, it was a honeydew green tea with milk. It was decent, but the honeydew flavor was probably a bit more subdued than my liking. Still, it wasn't overpowering in its sweetness, and I can appreciate that. During this whole coronavirus situation, the restaurant does not appear to be delivering any of its bread. That's a bit of a crying shame, because they appear to be quite unique for San Antonio. Still, this place - even just for the banh mi - is clearly worth your time. read more

I'd been craving a good banh mi for weeks, but they are hard to come by in San Antonio. Truth is, I'd never found one in this city to my liking...that is, until I found this place. I got there about an hour before closing on Saturday night and placed my to-go order: shredded chicken banh mi, tofu spring rolls, and a Thai iced tea. The young man who took my order said it would be about 20-25 minutes, because they had a lot of orders, so I took a seat and waited. The place was about half full, and just about all the tables that didn't have people sitting at them were full of dirty dishes, and they hadn't had a chance to do much clean up. Clearly they'd been very busy, which is usually a good sign. Another good sign was that there seemed to be a good number of Vietnamese customers, which is usually a testament to the authenticity of the food. While I was waiting, I checked out some of the baked goods: croissants, cookies, little single-serving cakes, all of which looked good. My order was ready in much less time than they predicted. It was less than 15 minutes. When I got home, it was time to dig in. The first thing I noticed was that their portions were very generous. The Thai iced tea was great. I love Thai iced tea, but it'd been many years since I'd had it, so it really hit the spot. The spring rolls were quite large. They didn't have a ton of flavor, but the sweet peanut/chili sauce that came with them took care of that. The texture of the spring rolls was really nice, with fresh crisp lettuce providing some cool crunchiness to the meal. And the banh mi? Not only was it big in size, it was the best one I've had in a long time, and best one I've ever had in San Antonio. This place really gets it right, with all the pickled vegetables, the cilantro, the jalapenos, the crisp-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside baguette...perfection. In fact, it might be a little too spicy for some people, but for me it was just right. I enjoyed my meal from SP Cafe so much, I actually thought about going back again the next night (I didn't, but I thought about it!). I want to try their vegetarian pho, and I definitely will be back for the banh mi. So glad to have found this place! read more

I understand mom & pop operations well but this wait time and the poor cleaning is probably too much for most. Highly recommend the Vietnamese coffee; the classic banh mi is pretty solid. Drinks are on the sweet side Really strong Vietnamese coffee, quite good. Authentic Vietnamese coffee is made with Robusta rather than Arabica beans and I think the lingering deep, roasty bitterness is a sign that this was the right type of beans. The coffee had a rich thickness that spoke to its concentration and sweetened condensed milk. The Thai tea flavor was good but was too sweet. Had a nice astringency that let me know it was real tea though. If it was less sweet, would have been better. The durian shake was tasty but I am skeptical that it was made with 100% real durian. First, it's hard to get fresh durian. Second, the texture of durian is creamy and this shake was relatively thin for something that had been made with a custard-y fruit. Third, for the amount of durian flavor that it had, they must have had to use a good amount of durian but again, the texture wasn't thick at all. Thus, I think they probably used durian extract and honestly, I don't have any major issues with that. The cold cut banh mi - overall, solid. Good Vietnamese baguette - you can tell the difference between a typical french baguette and a Vietnamese baguette (which is wheat & rice flour) by the way the bread crumbles. The aioli is solid, very rich and delicious. The pate here is softer than some others I've had and isn't as firm or savory. Still better than no pate. Vegetables wise, no pickled daikon and carrot which is usually expected. There's cucumber, jalapeno, and fresh carrot I believe. Good balance between the vegetables and the meat. read more

They've added more pate and aioli on the sandwich which elevated from the already awesomeness that it was before. I'm conflicted on leaving this review. The piña colada smoothie was very good. Perfectly sweet and fruity. However, I was disappointed by the macarons. The lemon one was the only one (out of six) to have the traditional delicate, airy, crisp macaron shell; the other five were tough. The green tea tasted like I put a spoon full of matcha powder in my mouth. The flavor of the lemon, caramel, pistachio, earl gray, and yuzu were all very good despite the tough outer shell on most of them. The yuzu could be compared to lemon as far as tartness goes, but sweet in it being sweetened for the macaron (so, similarly sweet and tart like a lemon macaron). I also purchased one pate choux and one spicy sausage bread. We have not tried these yet, but will happily update once we do. They definitely look tasty. read more

The gentleman that took my order was really nice, he told me his Bahn Mi's are about as close to authentic as you'll get here in SA. So with that said, I ordered the combo meal BBQ Pork Bahn Mi with cucumber, carrots, cilantro and mayo. I found it kind of strange the combo side selections were either an Iced Tea OR Onion soup AND Cream Puff OR Cookie. I would think since they serve salads the choice would be soup OR salad, cream puff OR cookie and choice of type of Ice Tea (they have a huge selection) the cost is $9.95. Anyway, I went with the honey green tea... wow! It was so delicious, I should have added boba balls or something to top it off. And the cream puff was amazing!!! I almost regretted sharing it because it was fairly small. I wanted to drive back across town to order some more. So about this sandwich he bragged about... I will say I was quite impressed. It reminded everything about sitting on the corner eatery in Ho Chi Min City munching on Bahn Mi's. I'm convinced they bake their own bread along with their desserts. The bread was so light, thin and crunchy. The carrots had the best crunch to them, perfectly pickled. My only issue I have was the lack of BBQ pork in the sandwich. I usually don't like drinking black American coffee but I do like their coffee here! It's very soft and smooth, it doesn't have a sour after taste at all and I usually get 2 pumps of salted caramel syrup with it! So yummy! This is also my first time trying the passion fruit mousse cake. I've had their tiramisu, pandan cake and chocolate mousse cake and they're all really good. Being the bubble tea lover that I am, I'm always on the lookout for great bubble tea shops everywhere I go. After seeing the pretty good reviews of this place, I decided to give Savoureux Patisserie a try. Inside, this cute shop is like a half bakery-half cafe. They have a limited selection of freshly baked Asian breads, Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), in addition to mini desserts/cakes in their refrigerated section. I ordered the classic Jasmine Milk Tea with tapioca, and one of their mango mousse cakes. The Jasmine Milk Tea was pretty great. The tea was nice and strong with just the right amount of milk, and the tapioca was soft but still chewy. The mango mousse cake however, was not as good as it looked. Even though the freshness of the mango really came through, the cake was slightly too sweet, which ruined the overall taste. That being said, this is still a great place for a quick snack, lunch, or even to catch up with some friends. There are plenty of seating inside, and you don't have to worry about finding parking (this place is located in a large complex with plenty of outdoor parking). I will definitely come back the next time I'm in the area, because as other reviewers have mentioned, some of those Banh Mis look tasty! read more

This place has bubble tea reminiscent of those you find in Saigon Cafe in Atlanta. I mean it's so freaking good. Imagine Thai tea infused with green tea. All these oh so yummy looking desserts. Went to eat on Sunday with my family and my husband LOVES the tofu vermicelli. He could eat that at least once a week. And I had the round eye steak pho and it's of course absolutely AMAZING! Okay... I have been here so many times and this is my final review. If I come back here again shame on me. I have no room to complain. As many of the other reviewers have stated there is absolutely no consistency. None. Whatsoever. The only consistent thing is their pastries... Not their cupcakes not their macarons but their pastries. As in the breads. Their cupcakes continue to be old and hard, the macaroons are stale. The bubble tea is absolutely horrendous... They use old tapioca from the day before... They lie and say that they make it fresh everyday and they are super rude. I have ordered the iced tea twice now and ask for black tea because they're jasmine tea has a peculiar taste about it and they've still messed it up. The old tapioca is just disgusting! The attitude in the customer service is horrendous... I don't know if they just have disgruntled employees or what but they need to fire that girl up at the front and her little sidekick. They are just rude and obnoxious and exceptionally condescending. They are not open to feedback and did not apologize for anything being incorrect or wrong. For the price that they charge there the food is simply not worth it... I've yet to have a decent tasting fresh cupcake , a unstale macaroon, and a pleasant interaction with anyone at the front. This place started out promising in the beginning... But it has just gone consistently downhill with quality and customer service. There are other places that you can go.
